"Uncle Annie?" Kana sheepishly greeted upon approaching his said honorary uncle, who was currently busy doing the army's laundry.
Ananias looked up from his work and gave Kana a small and nonchalant nod in response. "Hey, Kana," he said, immediately focusing back on his work after returning the young boy's greeting. "What's up?"
"Um... well...," Kana stammered, shuffling his feet and playing with his tiny little fingers as he lowered his head, shamefaced, "I just wanted to apologize for all of the trouble I've been causing you lately."
Ananias stopped what he was doing and raised a eyebrow slightly at him. "Really?"
Kana nodded. "Yeah. I should've realized that doing all of that stuff wasn't really going to make me grow any faster or make me any more mature. I shouldn't have done any of those things in the first place. I'm sorry."
Ananias stared sympathetically at the child in front of him for a moment before heaving out a large sigh as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, as long as you get that at least, I guess all's well that ends well, right? And besides, admitting that you were wrong is pretty grown up and mature of you." He patted Kana encouragingly on the shoulder. "Keep it up, and you'll be growing up all big and strong and mature in no time."
Kana let out an excited gasp. "You really think so?"
Ananias nodded. "Yeah. As long as you keep that good attitude of yours and let your growing come naturally, I can see you helping out a lot of people in the future, not just your mama and papa."
Kana chuckled proudly and grinned broadly from being given such a generous compliment. "Thanks, Uncle Annie. That really means a lot! Especially coming from you."
Ananias smiled and ruffled Kana's hair a bit, earning him another happy chuckle from him. "Anytime, kiddo." He then frowned before asking, "But why were you so adamant about growing up and helping your parents out in the first place? Like, I've got nothing against it or anything, but the way you were going about it makes me think that there was a little bit more to it than that."
"Oh...," Kana said sadly, placing his hands behind his back as his face noticeably fell. "Well, it's just that, mama and papa were never able to visit very often before, so when they let me come along with them here, I thought I'd finally be able to spend lots of time with them. But... -"
"That's not how things turned out, huh?" Ananias finished.
Kana shook his head. "Mama and papa are just so busy. I mean, sure, we still hang out lots more compared to how much we used to, but it's still not as much as I had hoped." He then began to sheepishly shuffle his feet. "But then I got the idea that if mama and papa were too busy doing work, then I'd just have to work alongside them! I was so excited... until I found out that the work mama and papa did was for grown ups and grown ups only."
"So that's when you decided to try and grow up faster," Ananias stared.
Kana nodded. "Uh-huh."
Ananias wearily sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose as he shook his head. "So that's how it is, huh?" he muttered. He then turned to Kana and said, "Hey, Kana."
Kana looked up at him, his eyes wide and full of curiosity. "Yeah?"
"Remember when you told me that your parents wanted you to focus on being a little kid for now?"
Kana slowly nodded. "Yeah."
"Well, do you know why they said that?"
"Because they're my mama and papa and they're just worried about me?"
Ananias paused for a moment to consider the legitimacy of Kana's answer before shrugging his shoulders and admittedly replying, "Um, sure, more or less that, but also the fact that they've never had a real childhood themselves."
Kana's eyes widened in surprise. "Huh? Really?"
Ananias nodded. "Yeah. Between being cooped up in a castle most of their lives and being forced into fighting more battles than they ever could've wanted, my guess is that once you were born, they swore to give you the childhood they never truly had themselves."
"Oh," Kana said softly. "I didn't know."
Ananias placed a comforting hand on top of Kana's head and ruffled his hair a bit. "I figured as much. They probably didn't want to burden you with that type of knowledge."
"I guess," Kana said. "But now that I know, I want to help them even more now!"
"And you can," Ananias quietly reassured him. "By focusing on being a kid and letting your parents take care of you. Trust me, it'll take a load off of their minds. And besides, seeing their own child be happy makes them happy too."
"Really?" Kana asked.
Ananias nodded. "Yeah. And if you're still so adamant on helping, how about helping me out with the more mundane chores around here?"
Kana's eyes lit up excitedly. "Really, Uncle Annie?"
Ananias nodded. "I don't see why not."
Kana chuckled. "Thanks, Uncle Annie! You're the best!"
Ananias chuckled. "You must be the only kid I've ever met who is actually excited with doing chores."
Author's Note #1: And there ends the supports with Kana. I hope you liked them! The next supports after Kana will be Selena, followed by Beruka, Xander, Azura, Flora, Odin, Laslow, Rinkah, Arthur, Silas, Leo, Keaton, and Subaki. Kanna's supports will be like Ophelia's and Soleil's, with Kanna being Odin, Laslow, or Selena's kid and Ananias being an honorary uncle to them. The supports will also be written as if Kanna is a boy, but will be generic enough to fit both genders. Got someone else you want to support with Ananias that isn't on this list yet? Request it. Remember, all Nohr first generation characters, Soliel, Ophelia, Anna, Kanna, Rinkah, Subaki, and Setsuna are allowed to support with him as well and it is a first come, first serve system.
Author's Note #2: The Fire Emblem Warriors poll is now officially up on my profile! Vote for which five characters you want for Ananias to support with from that game the most and, in the end, ten characters will be selected for Ananias to support with, so make your voices heard. Happy voting!
