"Excuse me, Ananias," Flora said, "but I must ask... what exactly are you doing?"
Ananias raised an eyebrow in mild surprise before answering, "Um... laundry?"
"Yes, that much is obvious, but WHO'S laundry is it that you are doing?"
"Um," Ananias rummaged through the pile for a moment to make doubly sure that he knew, "Lord Corrin's?"
Flora nodded. "Yes, Lord Corrin's. Now tell me, why are you so preoccupied with doing Lord Corrin's laundry when you are neither one of his retainers nor one of his maids or butlers?"
"Well, one, it would be impossible for me to be a maid," Ananias pointed out, "and two, I'm just always willing to help out wherever I can. There's nothing wrong with that, right?"
Flora frowned. "No, I suppose not, but as you are Lady Elise's retainer, shouldn't you be concerning yourself with her laundry instead of Corrin's?"
"Well, yeah, but," Ananias nonchalantly shrugged, "it's already done, so..."
Flora's eyes widened in surprise. "It is?"
Ananias nodded. "Yeah."
"W-Well then, surely there is something else you can do for her?"
Ananias shook his head. "Nope."
"'Nope'? Whatever is that supposed to mean?"
"It means that there's nothing left to do."
Flora's gawked at him in disbelief. "Nothing left to do?!" she incredulously repeated.
Ananias nodded. "Yeah. Nothing left to do. It's all done."
"So... making her bed?"
"Done."
"Serving her breakfast?"
"Done."
"Tidying her up?"
"Done."
"Cleaning and organizing her quarters?"
"Done." Before Flora could suggest anything else, Ananias heaved a sigh before quickly adding, "Look, everything that I'm responsible for, I've already done, alright? I've even done a few things that I'm not responsible for, so now I've moved on to doing Corrin's laundry. That's it. Why are you making such a big deal about this?"
"W-Why?" Flora blushed. "W-Well, obviously it's because I am Lord Corrin's maid and not you, so it should be my responsibility to do Lord Corrin's laundry!"
"... Seriously?"
Flora hastily nodded. "Yes, seriously!" She reached out her hand. "Now please, hand me Lord Corrin's laundry so that I may wash it for him this instant!"
Ananias let out an exasperated sigh before begrudgingly complying. "This is silly."
"On the contrary, I take my duties as Lord Corrin's maid very seriously."
"Of course you do. But even I wouldn't go as far as what you did right now just to do a chore."
"Humph, well, I suppose that is the difference between us then."
"I guess so. Well, I guess I'll just go tell Corrin that you took over for me then."
"W-Wait! Do you mean to tell me that... Lord Corrin asked you to do his laundry for him?"
"Well," Ananias awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, "it's not really that he asked, but more like I offered to do it for him and he just took the offer, you know?"
"I... I don't understand. Why didn't he simply ask Felicia or Jakob to do it then?"
Ananias sighed as he realized that he had no choice but to elaborate on the situation. "Look, I was sent to go and get him for a meeting and that's when I caught him preparing to go off and do his laundry. I didn't know where Felicia and Jakob were. I just offered to do it for him so that he could attend the meeting and he took it. That's it. It's not like I'm trying to steal your job or anything. It just all happened naturally."
"I... I see. So that's what happened." Flora bowed her head. "I suppose I did overreact a bit."
"It's alright. I'd be pretty miffed if someone replaced me too."
Flora blushed. "I... I wasn't afraid of being replaced!" she insisted. "I was just... concerned for Lady Elise, that's all! After all, she deserves a retainer who will give her their undivided attention."
Ananias gave her a strange look. "Um, okay."
Flora's couldn't help but blush harder for placing herself in the embarrassing position that she had unintentionally placed herself in. "W-Well, then... here!" She shoved the pile of dirty laundry back into Ananias' arms, much to his surprise.
"Whoa!"
Flora brushed herself off and immediately attempted to recompose himself. "If Lord Corrin expects you to do his laundry, then I see no harm in letting you do it for him."
"Um, yeah, sure. Thanks... I guess?"
Flora bowed her head respectfully. "You're very welcome."
She then turned her heels to walk away, but before she could leave, Ananias shivered and muttered, "Man, is there a draft in here or something? Since when did it get so cold?"
Flora immediately blushed before quickly replying, "I don't know what you're talking about," before quickly making her way to do something else for her lord.
