Ever Realm Chronicles - a Sofia the First fanfic
Chapter 16: April Journeys
April 8, 1872
"Is that who I think it is?" Candice whispered to Dorrie.
"It would appear so," Dorrie whispered back. "We've better see what she wants."
Dorrie and Candice quietly made their way to the hallway where a white woman with curly blond hair was standing.
"River?" Dorrie asked the woman. "What are you doing here?"
"And how did you get here?" Candice wanted to know.
"You forget, I'm River Song," River smiled. "I have my ways."
"Really, how did you get here?" Dorrie asked. "I don't see you wearing a vortex manipulator."
"Well, if you must know, I borrowed ... The Doctor's Tardis," River revealed.
"You borrowed The Doctor's Tardis?" Candice asked in shock.
"He'll never know," River winked. "He's never known in the past."
"There's been more than one time?!" Dorrie exclaimed in shock. "I hope you've never borrowed our Tardis."
"Not to worry," River said in a reassuring voice. "The security protocols that the First Story Keeper and the two of you have set up would make it impossible for a stranger to use your Tardis without your permission."
"Well, it is a Type 44 Mark Three," Candice pointed out. "Advanced enough for such security protocols to be programmed into the system."
"What are you doing here, River?" Dorrie wanted to know, curious.
"I'm here to put you on the scent of another talisman," River answered as she handed a folded piece of paper to Dorrie. "You'll find the coordinates on this paper. And you've best take your Tardis. It's the only way he'll be convinced you're telling the truth."
"Who?" Candice inquired.
"The Doctor," River smiled. "Curly hair, long scarf, long coat, carries a bag of Jelly Babies. You'll know him on sight. I've best be going."
"You could at least give us more information about where we're going and what talisman we're looking for," Candice pointed out.
"Spoilers," River cautioned before disappearing into thin air.
"She must have used the transporter aboard The Doctor's Tardis," Dorrie theorized about River disappearing. "One thing is certain - we're on the hunt for another talisman."
"Who was that, and where did she go?" a female voice asked from behind Dorrie and Candice who turned around to see Chrysta standing there. Chrysta was attending Sofia and Marie's birthday dinner with other Protectors from the Protector Council.
"A friend of ours," Dorrie answered. "A witch. She had to leave."
"I've never seen a witch disappear like that before," Christa commented.
"She's ... special," Candice countered. "We should be getting back to the ballroom."
"Special, huh?" Chrysta thought to herself as Dorrie and Candice walked away. "You two are hiding something. I don't know what, yet. But I'm going to find out."
In the ballroom itself, Liang walked over to Scarlett and placed a hand on her shoulder as she turned around.
"You'd like to speak to me, Prince Liang?"
"I've heard it through the grapevine you've been hunting for the talismans."
"It's true," Scarlett acknowledged. "If only because the safest hands are my own. Do you have any information, Prince?"
"I've heard a few rumors that the Dragon Talisman is somewhere in Satu from people who live in the Embassy."
"Ah, the power of Combustion," Scarlett said as she opened her hand and a flame ignited in it. "Kind of like the power to manipulate fire, but much more explosive. Out of all twelve talismans, the Dragon is without question the most dangerous. I will, of course, look into this right away."
As Liang walked off, Dorrie and Candice walked over.
"We couldn't help but overhear," Dorrie said to Scarlett. "A lead on the Dragon Talisman?"
"Yes," Scarlett answered.
"We'd like to talk to you in private," Candice requested of Scarlett.
"Of course," Scarlett agreed as she, Candice, and Dorrie stepped into a hallway.
"We may have a lead on another talisman," Dorrie whispered to Scarlett. "River Song just gave Candice and I coordinates that may lead us to another talisman. We'll need to use our Tardis to check it out."
"Then, by all means, do so," Scarlett directed in a whisper. "The rest of us will handle the Dragon Talisman."
"We'll leave shortly," Candice whispered on behalf of herself and Dorrie.
Standing a distance away, Chrysta watched as Scarlett, Dorrie, and Candice talked.
"Something's going on," Chrysta thought to herself. "Time to keep track of Dorrie and Candice."
Dorrie and Candice quietly walked out of the ballroom with Chrysta following a fair distance away. Dorrie and Candice then walked down a deserted hallway, waved their wands over their heads, and disappeared in a puff of smoke. Chrysta quickly activated her Enchantlet's lasso mode. Within the lasso, Chrysta saw an image of Dorrie and Candice arriving in The Secret Library.
"Ah!" Chrysta said to herself. "They are in The Secret Library."
Chrysta then flew off in the direction of The Secret Library.
In The Secret Library
Inside The Secret Library, Dorrie and Candice entered the room where their Tardis was stored. Dorrie and Candice then opened the door of the Tardis and walked inside.
"Time to punch in the coordinates that River gave us," Dorrie said as she entered the coordinates into the Tardis console.
"Any idea where we're going?" Candice wanted to know.
"I don't know," Dorrie admitted. "All I know is that the coordinates have been entered, and the Tardis is ready to go."
"You two have a Tardis?!" a woman's voice asked in shock from behind Dorrie and Candice. Standing there was Chrysta.
"Excuse me for asking, but how do you know what a Tardis is?" Candice asked Chrysta.
"Simple," Chrysta smiled. "The Doctor once visited The Mystic Isles. Quite the woman she was."
"Woman?" Dorrie asked. "Describe her."
"A black woman, dressed in blue," Chrysta answered.
"Ruth," Dorrie and Candice said to each other.
"I don't know about any Ruth," Chrysta said. "She simply called herself The Doctor. But, getting back to the point at hand, how do the two of you have a Tardis?"
"It belonged to the First Story Keeper," Dorrie explained. "He evolved to such a point that he no longer needs a Tardis to travel, so he gave it to us because our amulets gave us the ability to fly a Tardis."
"I see," Chrysta acknowledged. "But why were you being so secretive earlier?"
"We can't just let everybody know we have a Tardis," Candice pointed out. "There's technology in here that could be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands."
"Good point," Chrysta admitted. "You two seem to be in a hurry."
"We have a lead on where we might find another talisman," Dorrie announced. "We were just leaving when you showed up."
"Then let's get going," Chrysta said, excited.
"Wait a minute," Candice cautioned. "Dorrie and I don't know where we're going, and you might not be ready for what is out there ... if you know what I mean?"
"I'll make myself ready for anything," Chrysta promised. "I'll even use my fairy wand to appear as a human to blend in. But I can't miss out on a trip in a Tardis. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
"Looks like we have a traveling companion," Dorrie smiled at Candice.
"Okay," Candice acknowledged. "We've better get going ... wherever we're going."
Dorrie activated a switch on the Tardis console which closed the Tardis door. Dorrie then pulled a lever on the Tardis console which caused the Tardis to disappear from The Secret Library. Dorrie then started looking at the readout on one of the computer screens on the Tardis console.
"Wherever we're going, we're going off-world," Dorrie announced.
"Off-world?" Chrysta asked. "As in off of our planet?"
"Yes," Candice confirmed, before turning to the Tardis console. "Tarda? Can you figure out where we're going?"
"Working," Tarda, the Tardis computer, responded in a female voice. "Coordinates are for the planet Bulthane Four. A world filled with a variety of merchants."
"Well, makes sense," Dorrie noted. "Whatever talisman we're looking for could well be for sale there."
As the Tardis made its way to Bulthane Four, the Tardis was being followed ... by a blue police box. Aboard the blue police box was a curly-haired man and his brown-haired female traveling companion. The two were the fourth Doctor and his traveling companion, Sarah Jane Smith.
"What are you following, Doctor?" Sarah Jane wanted to know, curious.
"Another Tardis," The Doctor answered. "I don't encounter other Tardis' all that often, so naturally, I'm curious."
Aboard Dorrie and Candice's Tardis, Tarda made an announcement. "Dorrie, Candice, we have a Tardis following us."
Candice looked at one of the computer screens on the Tardis console and smiled. "Well, it's a small universe, isn't it?"
"What do you see, Candice?" Dorrie wanted to know.
"The Doctor's Tardis," Candice happily answered.
"We're approaching Bulthane Four," Tarda announced.
"Okay, let's land," Dorrie acknowledged as she adjusted some switches on the Tardis console. Dorrie then turned to Chrysta. "Better use your fairy wand to transform into a human. Better to be safe than sorry."
"Understood, Dorrie," Chrysta acknowledged as she brought out her fairy wand and transformed.
In a few moments, Dorrie and Candice's Tardis appeared out of thin air on the surface of Bulthane Four.
A visitor
"Well, we're here," Dorrie announced to Candice and Chrysta.
A few moments later, a knock came at their Tardis door.
"Hello," a man's voice called out. "Anybody in there?"
"The Doctor?" Candice wondered.
"Don't know," Dorrie said as she walked to the Tardis door and carefully opened it. Standing there was The Doctor and Sarah Jane.
"Ah, good," The Doctor smiled as he and Sarah Jane walked in. "You're home. I must say, I do like what you've done with your Tardis control room. Type 44, no?"
"Yes," Candice cautiously answered. "You are?"
"I'm The Doctor, and this is my traveling companion, Sarah Jane Smith," The Doctor answered.
"Hi," Sarah Jane smiled as she extended her hand in greeting to Candice.
"Hi," Candice acknowledged as she returned the gesture.
"Interesting," The Doctor started. "Three non-Time Lords in charge of a Tardis. If I may, who are you?"
"I'm Dorrie Cooper," Dorrie informed The Doctor. "This is my sister, Candice. And this is our friend, Chrysta."
"Did you say Cooper?" The Doctor asked with a smile. "From Earth? And from what year?"
"Yes, from Earth," Dorrie confirmed. "From 1872 Enchancia."
"Ah!" The Doctor happily exclaimed. "Then you must know my friend, the Story Keeper of The Secret Library."
"Yes," Candice smiled. "He's how we have a Tardis. He's evolved to such a point that he doesn't need a Tardis to travel anymore. He gave his Tardis to us."
"He wouldn't have given his Tardis to just anybody," The Doctor theorized. "He must really trust you. I take it your amulets allow you to fly the Tardis?"
"Yes, they do," Dorrie answered. "At least they did. Now the knowledge is a part of our beings. Our amulets sometimes transfer knowledge directly to us over time. How did you know about our amulets?"
"Oh, I know a lot, Miss Cooper," The Doctor winked. "What was the date in Enchancia when you left?"
"April 8th of 1872," Dorrie informed The Doctor.
"Then you and your sister must have recently received your princess titles," The Doctor smiled.
"Yes," Dorrie smiled back.
As Dorrie and The Doctor spoke, Candice turned to Chrysta. "Whatever you do, don't mention the Ruth Doctor," Candice advised in a whisper. "The Doctor here doesn't know about her, and it's best to keep it that way. It's a long story."
"Okay," Chrysta acknowledged in a whisper.
"Ah!" The Doctor smiled at Candice. "Secrets, huh? I suppose your Voyager training is kicking in. You always have to make sure that the timeline is protected from secrets from the future."
"Voyager?" Sarah Jane wondered, curious.
"Earth time travelers," The Doctor answered. "In charge of keeping Earth history on track."
"You two are Voyagers?!" Chrysta asked Dorrie and Candice in shock. "We Protectors know about Voyagers, but I had no idea the two of you were Voyagers. You two know how to keep a secret."
"Excuse me for asking," Sarah Jane started, "but why are you off-planet?"
"We're hunting for a magical talisman," Dorrie informed Sarah Jane. "We were given information that one is here."
"Ah, yes," The Doctor acknowledged. "The famous hunt for the twelve talismans. How is my friend Scarlett, anyway?"
"She's doing well," Dorrie answered.
"Good to hear," The Doctor happily said before turning to Chrysta. "And you're a Protector? I've heard about the Protectors. A very noble organization."
"Thank you," Chrysta said, pleased.
"I take it that's not your true appearance?" The Doctor asked Chrysta.
"I'm posing in human form," Chrysta informed The Doctor. "I'm actually a crystal fairy."
"Well, it's very nice to meet a crystal fairy," The Doctor said as he happily shook Chrysta's hand.
"Dorrie, Candice," Tarda announced. "I'm scanning a talisman nearby. My scans indicate it is the Rooster Talisman. It's located in one of the vendor stalls."
"If I might make a suggestion," The Doctor started. "Witches like yourselves are a very rare thing in this area of space. Any witch merchandise here would be worth a great deal."
"That gives me an idea," Candice said with a smile.
Back at Enchancia Castle
In a hallway that overlooked the ballroom, seven-year-old Doc stood looking at the ballroom. With her were her toy friends Lambie, Stuffy, Chilly, Hallie, and Squeakers.
"Well guys," Doc smiled, "you wanted to see around the ballroom. King Roland said it was okay for you to look down into the ballroom from here."
"Oh, my!" Lambie exclaimed in awe. "Please thank King Roland for us."
"You're quite welcome, young lady," a male voice happily acknowledged.
Everybody looked to see King Roland standing there.
"King Roland," Doc greeted as she curtsied.
"Doc," Roland smiled. "It's nice to meet your friends at last."
"The honor is ours, King Roland," Hallie acknowledged as she curtsied. "I'm Hallie. And these are Lambie, Stuffy, Chilly, and Squeakers."
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you," Roland greeted as he bowed. At that moment, Baileywick walked up.
"Sire, your presence is required in the ballroom," Baileywick announced.
"Of course," Roland responded before turning back to Doc and her friends. "Duty calls. Please enjoy the view. I look forward to seeing all of you around the castle."
As Roland walked away, Chilly looked in awe. "Wow! That was the king!"
"And he said he looked forward to seeing us around the castle," Stuffy noted as Squeakers let out a squeak.
"I think we're gonna like living here," Hallie happily said.
"Oh, yes," Lambie happily agreed.
"This is the beginning of a new adventure ... for all of us," Doc smiled.
In the ballroom, King Marcus of Zumaria was praising Doc's dad for sandwiches Doc's father had made for Sofia and Marie's birthday party.
"These are excellent sandwiches," King Marcus smiled.
"Thank you, sir," Doc's dad happily acknowledged.
"What is your name, if I may ask?" King Marcus inquired.
"Marcus McStuffins," Doc's dad answered.
"Ah!" King Markus acknowledged. "We have the same first name."
"To avoid any confusion, you may call me Chef McStuffins, sir, since I work with Chef Andre in the castle kitchen," Doc's dad suggested.
"An excellent idea," King Marcus agreed.
At another part of the ballroom, Scarlett was talking to eighteen-year-old Princess Vivian of the Kingdom of Zumaria.
"You may have heard that I'm searching for talismans," Scarlett said to Vivian.
"Yes, Queen Scarlett," Vivian acknowledged. "I've heard."
"I have a lead on another talisman - the Dragon Talisman," Scarlett revealed. "I'd like to ask a favor of you."
"What do you require?" Vivian asked, curious.
"I was wondering if I could borrow your dragon," Scarlett requested. "I've heard rumors that dragons are capable of sniffing out the Dragon Talisman, and I could use all the help I can get. I promise that your dragon would be in no danger."
"I'll go outside and discuss it with Crackle," Vivian smiled. "Knowing Crackle, I'm sure she'll find it to be one grand adventure."
In another part of the ballroom, eleven-year-old Elizabeth was having a pleasant conversation with her aunt, Claire Pepperton. Elizabeth was half Fairyardian and half Angeloran. As Elizabeth and Claire talked, Elizabeth showed off her ability to turn into both a fairy and an angel.
"You have such wonderful abilities," Claire praised.
"Thank you, Aunt Claire," Elizabeth happily said as the two hugged.
Queen Miranda, standing nearby, smiled at the touching scene.
Back on Bulthane Four
The Doctor, Sarah Jane, Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta walked through a marketplace. As they walked, The Doctor turned to Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta.
"Better let me do the introductions, ladies," The Doctor suggested.
"Of course, Doctor," Dorrie agreed.
The five soon came across a vendor stall belonging to a woman in her early 50s. Sitting next to the woman was a male Macantha cat with grey fur about the size of a bobcat.
"Welcome," the woman greeted. "I'm Racoria Cantor. How may I be of service to you?"
"Yes, well, you see, we're with the Hamantal Foundation," The Doctor answered as Racoria's Macantha cat growled.
"Steady, Ort," Racoria gently said to the cat. "The Hamantal Foundation's money is as good as anybody else's money."
"We're looking for a talisman, and we were led to believe you might be in possession of one," The Doctor announced.
"I can respect the Hamantal Foundation's objective of finding paranormal objects and putting them into protective custody," Racoria responded as she gently stroked her cat's fur. "If I had such an object, understand, of course, that I couldn't let it go for nothing."
"You love your cat, don't you?" Candice smiled at Racoria.
"Ort and I have been together for a long time," Racoria smiled back. "We're family, the two of us."
"I understand," Candice acknowledged. "I have an Earth cat named Creamy. We're family, too."
"The love of a cat is a precious thing," Racoria happily pointed out.
"You see, my sister and I here are witches," Candice started. "In exchange for whatever talisman you have, I'd be willing to give you a gift far more valuable than money."
"You have my interest," Racoria stated. "A witch's gift is something rare in this neck of the woods. What exactly are we talking about?"
"I can enchant a crystal that you can wear around your neck," Candice explained. "It will allow you to talk with Ort and other animals."
"You mean ... I could talk to Ort ... and he could talk to me?" Racoria asked, intrigued.
"Yes," Candice confirmed as she brought out a clear crystal, waved her wand at it, and handed it to Racoria. "Try it out."
Racoria put the crystal around her neck. The crystal glowed for a few moments, then returned to normal.
"Ort?" Racoria asked.
"Right here, Racoria," Ort answered. "It's nice to be able to talk to you."
"Oh, Ort!" Racoria exclaimed in happiness as she hugged her friend. Racoria then turned back to Candice. "You have a deal. The talisman is yours."
"Thank you," Candice happily acknowledged as Racoria retrieved the talisman.
"This is the Rooster Talisman," Racoria explained as she handed the talisman to Candice.
"Thank you," Candice gratefully said as she took the talisman from Racoria.
"We've best be going," The Doctor announced. "Official business to take care of."
"Of course," Racoria responded.
As The Doctor, Sarah Jane, Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta were walking along, a man raced up and suddenly grabbed the Rooster Talisman from Candice.
"Hey!" Sarah Jane exclaimed in shock as the man ran away.
Chrysta brought out her fairy wand, changed back into her crystal fairy form, and flew off after the man. In a few moments, Chrysta lassoed the man with her Enchantlet as The Doctor, Sarah Jane, Dorrie, and Candice raced up.
"That's ours!" Candice stated as she grabbed the Rooster Talisman from the man.
"Oh!" another man exclaimed as he walked up. "It's you again!"
"Again?" Dorrie asked, taken off guard.
"This is a thief who has been bothering the marketplace for some time now," the man explained. "I'm with marketplace security. He's always managed to get away. But now we have him, thanks to your winged friend here. Thank you."
"You're welcome," Chrysta smiled as she handed over the thief to the security guard.
"Come on, you!" the security guard barked at the thief. "We have a cell waiting for you!"
As the security guard led the thief off, Sarah Jane turned to Christa. "You're transformation was quite impressive."
"Thank you, Miss Smith," Chrysta happily responded. "This is my true form."
"We've better get going," The Doctor advised. "One never knows if there aren't other thieves around here."
"Agreed, Doctor," Candice acknowledged.
The five walked back to where their two Tardis' were parked.
"Well, it was a pleasure meeting the three of you," The Doctor smiled at Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta as he produced a small bag out of his pocket. "Have a Jelly Baby."
Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta each reached into the bag and took a Jelly Baby.
"Delicious," Chrysta smiled, impressed.
"We've best be off," Dorrie said as she opened the door of her and Candice's Tardis. "Thanks for your help."
"Anytime," The Doctor said with a wink.
"A pleasure meeting the three of you," Sarah Jane happily said to Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta. "Perhaps we'll meet again at some point."
"Perhaps we will," Candice smiled.
"Safe journeys," The Doctor wished Dorrie, Candice, and Chrysta as they stepped into Dorrie and Candice's Tardis. In a few moments, Dorrie and Candice's Tardis disappeared into thin air without a sound.
"Their Tardis didn't make any noise," Sarah Jane noticed.
"They probably have the blue stabilizers engaged," The Doctor theorized.
"The blue what?" Sarah Jane wanted to know.
"A story for another time," The Doctor said as he and Sarah Jane stepped into The Doctor's Tardis. In a few moments, The Doctor's Tardis disappeared into thin air, making a whirring sound as it disappeared.
Inside Dorrie and Candice's Tardis, Chrysta walked up to Dorrie and Candice.
"That was amazing," Chrysta cheerfully commented. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, Chrysta," Dorrie responded. "Which leaves us with one other thing to take care of."
"And what would that be?" Chrysta wanted to know.
"We can't have the general public knowing that we have a Tardis, or that we're Voyagers," Dorrie answered.
"A good point," Chrysta agreed. "I suppose this is where you zap my memories of this?"
"Dorrie," Candice started. "We just can't Donna Noble her. That would be too cruel."
"I agree," Dorrie responded. "I think if we and Chrysta agreed that what she's discovered stays between the three of us, that would do nicely."
"I swear I won't tell anybody about your Tardis, or that the two of you are Voyagers," Chrysta promised. "The two of you do important work, and I wouldn't want to get in the way of that."
"Then we have an agreement," Dorrie smiled. "And I think in return for your silence, Candice and I could take you on the occasional Tardis trip. What do you say?"
"Yes!" Chrysta happily agreed.
April 10, 1872
It was a Wednesday morning at Scarlett's palace in Cinnibar. Scarlett, Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, and Abby were standing in the courtyard of the palace. Nearby, Vivian was talking to Crackle (Crackle was now a teenage dragon big enough for Vivian to ride).
"Good thing we gave Vivian that crystal a while back that allows her to talk to animals," Lucinda said to Sofia.
"Yes," Sofia agreed. "The two of them are so happy they can talk to each other."
"Now, you're okay with this, right, Crackle?" Vivian asked.
"Don't worry about me," Crackle said in a reassuring voice. "This is the kind of adventure I've been living for. Besides, Queen Scarlett said you can come along, so we'll be together in this adventure."
Amber smiled at the touching scene as Scarlett walked past.
"Scarlett?" Amber asked. "Where are Dorrie and Candice?"
"They've successfully retrieved the Rooster Talisman, so I'm giving them a break from talisman hunting for a while," Scarlett answered. "Besides, this will allow them to help a friend."
"Oh, that's right," Amber remembered. "Their taking Doc to Hexley Hall to be tested."
"Yes," Scarlett acknowledged as she addressed everybody assembled. "I want to thank all of you for taking part in today's adventure. As you know, we're off to Satu to look for the Dragon Talisman. Good fortune to us all."
Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, and Abby climbed aboard a royal flying carriage as Vivian mounted Crackle. Meanwhile, Scarlett walked over to where her daughter, Princess Faith, was standing.
"Faith," Scarlett began. "I know you'll take good care of Cinnibar while I'm gone."
"I wish I was coming with you," Faith remarked.
"I know, my precious one," Scarlett smiled. "But, I need somebody here to take care of the kingdom. And I can think of nobody better than you."
"I'll see you when you get back," Faith said as she and Scarlett hugged.
Scarlett walked over to the royal flying carriage and climbed aboard. Scarlett then looked in the direction of Vivian and Crackle. "Princess Vivian," Scarlett called out. "You and Crackle take the lead."
"Yes, Queen Scarlett," Vivian acknowledged.
In a few moments, Crackle outstretched her wings and took off. Crackle was quickly followed by the royal flying carriage with Scarlett, Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, and Abby aboard.
"Safe trip, Mom," Faith thought to herself as the group flew off.
Meanwhile, at Enchancia Castle, a royal flying carriage with Dorrie and Candice was waiting to take off. In a few moments, Doc and her mother approached.
"Come aboard," Dorrie invited.
Doc and her mother climbed aboard and sat down with Dorrie and Candice.
"Driver, we're ready to go," Candice instructed. "Take us to Hexley Hall."
"Right away, Princess Candice," the male driver acknowledged as the royal flying carriage took flight.
"Is everything all right?" Doc's mother asked Doc.
"Just a bit nervous," Doc responded.
"That's to be expected," Dorrie said in a reassuring voice. "Everybody is nervous at first."
"If you have magical abilities other than your toy doctor skill, then Hexley Hall will take it from there," Candice promised.
"This is all so sudden," Doc pointed out. "If I have other magical abilities, then what?"
"Then Hexley Hall will have gotten itself a fine student," Doc's mother said with pride. "We'll just take it one step at a time. Okay?"
"Okay," Doc answered.
In a little while, Hexley Hall came into view.
"Oh, my!" Doc exclaimed in awe. "I didn't realize Hexley Hall was so big."
As the royal flying carriage landed in front of Hexley Hall, Headmistress Lovegood walked up to the carriage.
"I'm Headmistress Gayle Lovegood," Gayle introduced herself to Doc and her mother. "Welcome to Hexley Hall."
"Thank you, ma'am," Doc acknowledged.
Gayle then turned to Dorrie and Candice. "Nice to see you, Princesses."
"Headmistress," Dorrie and Candice acknowledged.
"If the four of you will follow me, we'll get Doc's testing underway," Gayle announced.
In a few minutes, the five had made their way to Gayle's office. Gayle then brought out a special wand.
"Please touch the wand, Doc," Gayle requested.
Doc touched the wand. The wand then glowed until Doc let go of it.
"You do indeed have additional magical qualities," Gayle smiled at Doc, pleased. "If all of you will follow me, we'll go to the medical wing where further tests will be carried out."
Doc, her mother, Dorrie, and Candice followed Gayle to the medical wing where a series of magical tests were administered to Doc. After the tests, Gayle walked up to Doc's mother, Dorrie, and Candice.
"Young Doc here has a degree of magical ability beyond her toy doctor skill that qualifies her for entry into Hexley Hall," Gayle happily announced. "Mrs. McStuffins, do I have your permission to enroll Doc here?"
"Yes," Doc's mother agreed as Gayle turned to Doc.
"Doc," Gayle started. "Would you like to attend school here? You would be most welcome here."
Doc thought it over for a few moments, then decided. "I would like to attend school here, Headmistress," Doc smiled.
"Excellent," Gayle responded, pleased. "Let's go back to my office and we can fill out the necessary paperwork."
(End of Chapter 16).

Author's notes
Creamy is a character created for Candice by Jolly Roger Brat. Creamy is used in my stories with the permission of Jolly Roger Brat. Readers of my story "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" will remember that King Roland is no longer allergic to Creamy, and Creamy is now allowed inside Enchancia Castle.
Doc, Doc's father, Doc's mother, Lambie, Stuffy, Chilly, Hallie, and Squeakers are based on the same characters from "Doc McStuffins" but adapted for the "Sofia the First" universe. Having these characters appear in "Ever Realm Chronicles" was the idea of MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury.
"Dorrie," Candice started. "We just can't Donna Noble her. That would be too cruel." - this is a reference to events seen in the David Tennant "Doctor Who" episode "Journey's End". In that episode, Donna Noble (The Doctor's traveling companion at the time) was accidentally transformed into an enhanced human with a Time Lord-type brain. Having a Time Lord-type brain soon started damaging Donna physically and mentally. The Doctor, against Donna's will, was forced to wipe Donna's memories of The Doctor and their adventures together to save her life. The Doctor then took the unconscious Donna home so she could live a normal life once she woke up.
Elizabeth West-Chadwick and Marie Perkins are characters created by MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury and are used in my stories with the permission of MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury.
Having a thief try and steal the Rooster Talisman was based on a suggestion by Brigade701.
Headmistress Lovegood (A.K.A. Miss Gayle Lovegood) is originally from my stories "Dorrie", "Dorrie: Book Two", and "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia", and is an ancestor of Luna Lovegood from "Harry Potter".
Princess Faith (Queen Scarlett's adopted daughter) is an earlier version of Faith seen in the "Torchwood" episodes "Dead Man Walking" and "Fragments".
River Song is from the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi episodes of "Doctor Who".
Tardis is from "Doctor Who".
"The Doctor," River smiled. "Curly hair, long scarf, long coat, carries a bag of Jelly Babies. You'll know him on sight. I've best be going." - this is a reference to the Tom Baker Doctor from "Doctor Who". Bringing the Tom Baker Doctor into "Ever Realm Chronicles" was a suggestion by Mark T.
The Dog, Dragon, Horse, Monkey, Ox, Pig, Rabbit, Rat, Rooster, Sheep, Snake, and Tiger Talismans are originally from "Jackie Chan Adventures". Using the Dragon Talisman in this chapter was the idea of Jake H Voronkov. Using the Rooster Talisman in this chapter was the idea of Brigade701.
The fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith are from the Tom Baker episodes of "Doctor Who".
The Kingdom of Cinnibar is a kingdom created by Jake H Voronkov and is used in my stories with permission from Jake H Voronkov.
The Kingdom of Satu is originally from "Elena of Avalor".
The Ruth Doctor is from the Jodie Whittaker episodes of "Doctor Who".
The Scarlett Warrior (A.K.A. Scarlett) (A.K.A. Queen Scarlett) (A.K.A. Queen Scarlett Katherine Felchenerow) is a character created by Jake H Voronkov and is used in my stories with permission from Jake H Voronkov.
The scene with Claire and Elizabeth was a request by MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury.
The scene with Doc, Lambie, Stuffy, Chilly, Hallie, and Squeakers looking down into the ballroom is a birthday gift for Gabriel Snyder.
The scene with King Marcus and Doc's dad was based on a suggestion by MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury.
"They probably have the blue stabilizers engaged," The Doctor theorized. - this is a reference to Tardis technology mentioned in the Matt Smith "Doctor Who" episode "The Time of Angels". The blue stabilizers help to stabilize a Tardis and also offer a noiseless dematerialization and rematerialization of a Tardis. When the Matt Smith Doctor remarked to River Song in that episode about there being no whirling noise when she rematerialized The Doctor's Tardis on a planet, River, having used the blue stabilizers, remarks that the Tardis isn't supposed to have its whirling sound, and that "you leave the breaks on." The Matt Smith Doctor counters by saying "its a brilliant noise. I love that noise." The Matt Smith Doctor also sarcastically refers to the blue stabilizers as "blue boring-ers."
Using Crackle in this chapter was the idea of Brigade701.
Vortex Manipulator: a wrist-worn device designed to transport the user through time and space via the Time Vortex. River Song (of "Doctor Who" fame) occasionally used one. Captain Jack Harkness (of "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood" fame) also used one.
Voyager is from the "Voyagers!" TV series.
"Well, if you must know, I borrowed ... The Doctor's Tardis," River revealed. "You borrowed The Doctor's Tardis?" Candice asked in shock. "He'll never know," River winked. "He's never known in the past." - the fact that River occasionally borrows The Doctor's Tardis was revealed in the "Doctor Who" episode "The Husbands of River Song".
"You'd like to speak to me, Prince Liang?" "I've heard it through the grapevine you've been hunting for the talismans." "It's true," Scarlett acknowledged. "If only because the safest hands are my own. Do you have any information, Prince?" "I've heard a few rumors that the Dragon Talisman is somewhere in Satu from people who live in the Embassy." "Ah, the power of Combustion," Scarlett said as she opened her hand and a flame ignited in it. "Kind of like the power to manipulate fire, but much more explosive. Out of all twelve talismans, the Dragon is without question the most dangerous. I will, of course, look into this right away." - going after the Dragon Talisman was the idea Jake H Voronkov (who also provided the dialog for this scene).
