Chapter Fourteen: Partier

Black Ridge is pretty rigged. From the moment Oakley Harwood and his friends, Freddy Bunting and Dudley Griffith stepped foot into the school, the reputation has gone downhill in a landslide. Many people in their grade pulled out within the first school year, and now attend either De Sauveterre or Collège Françoise Dupont. It has exchange programs for students around the world, but they are not spared.

The school isn't all bad though. The theater department is glorious. The productions are excellent and that tends to draw people in, especially theatre kids. Heck, the horrid triad doesn't bother ruining the theater stuff because the theater productions are what get them applicants.

The athletic programs are…mediocre. Some sports are better than others. Their swimming and basketball programs are nonexistent, and their baseball, running and soccer teams all suck, but the tennis and golf teams are actually pretty good. Sure, they can be beaten, but they're a pretty strong team.

The staffing is pretty bad, plus the fact teachers get fired for calling out Harleen Harwood, the headmistress's, biases. But the fired teachers do try to check in with their former students and help with their education. Teachers who don't call out the biases but acknowledge it do help students with work. The teachers who don't care about the biases/are completely under Mrs Harwood's wing…they just don't care. Also there's no guidance counselor and akuma attacks? Extra work you missed, now you have to make it up! Oh, you were the akuma? That doesn't excuse the test you missed. So yeah, it's pretty…bad.

For the most part, admissions are unbiased. Only cases were Oakley, Dudley and Freddy but beyond them, no bias.

The school, for the most part, is well kept. They have an appearance to maintain, after all. It's 2 stories and a medium size, but the student population has been declining so there's many empty desks where formerly admitted students could've been sitting. Classroom sizes are about 12:1 in student to faculty ratio, and each grade has about maybe…40 students from France (Oakley's class size is the smallest with 29 from France…yikes). Basically, it's really small. What sucks more is the grade sizes used to be larger with about 60-70 students. This excludes any and all students from the exchange programs, this is from France itself.

The exchange programs are great, though. Many students learn about different cultures (they have a Spanish Student Exchange Program, American Student Exchange Program, etc) and overall, it gives the exchange students a much more in depth look at France and its culture. Some even stay in France for the rest of their high school years, or maintain contact with their French classmates.

There's only one gaping problem: Academics. The classes…are boring. The teachers drone on, they don't make the lessons fun in any way, and juniors/seniors get minimal say in their schedule (what kind of science they're taking, what kinds of art are you exploring, etc). They have 8 classes per semester, and have to have zero F's to participate in sports (they don't care if you have C's). Essays are graded harshly and tests come up frequently. This doesn't really help the students, au contraire to what teachers and admission staff think. It also doesn't help the school starts early (7:50)

Clubs depend on the people involved. Some are better than others. But the student council/government? It's GREAT. They want to beat the odds and bias, and it sets up really good events for the students to hang out in a non-toxic environment. Recently they've been trying to do something with akuma stress relief, but that's been unapproved of by admissions so far.

Black Ridge is a medium size school, evidently having 2 floors for classroom usage. The exterior is painted plain black. There is a gate around the school, giving it an isolated feeling. There is one window that is cracked, and the door creaks every time it's opened.

However, the interior is painted a dull grayish-black, although there's some graffiti on the walls. The classrooms are small, with the desks cramped together closely enough that personal space feels almost nonexistent.

The school is run by Harleen Harwood; an evil woman; who looked like she could be the next akumatized supervillain. She was cold; and rude. She usually cared mostly about her son; calling him a "little angel"; and not believing the wicked things that he has done. The school is actually on the verge of being shut down permanently. The school board actually said that if at least four more akuma attacks happen; then the school will be shut down permanently; with the headmistress being blacklisted from applying to any other school in France; or around the world. A typical timetable for students at Black Ridge is the following:

Period 1: 7:50AM-8:45AM
Period 2: 8:50AM-9:45AM
Period 3: 9:50AM-10:45AM
Period 4: 10:50AM-11:45AM
Lunch Break: 11:50AM-12:20PM
Period 5: 12:25PM-1:20PM
Period 6: 1:25PM-2:20PM
Period 7: 2:25PM-3:20PM
Period 8: 3:25PM-4:20PM

Classes run for 55 minutes each; and they have a 30 minute lunch. Extracurricular activities like clubs; or sports teams run from about 4:35PM-6:00PM and it depends on the activity. (for instance, the musical/play cast and crew, tennis team and golf team would have longer practice times than the running, soccer, and baseball teams)

Students are told to be exactly on time-and if they are even a second late; they will get detention. So yeah; pretty strict.

A young woman was running to school. She was 17 years old, and had a peach skin tone along with blue eyes and black waist length hair that had some bangs covering her eyes. She had a rose pin decorated into her hair. She's 5'5, and 92 lbs. The girl wore a white t-shirt with a pink floral skirt and pink ballet flats. She also wore a pair of black framed glasses.

The young woman was a super brainiac; having graduated from high school at a young age. She was only 6 when she finished elementary school, and 10 when she had finished high school. Then, her phone buzzed, and the woman stopped, panting. She pulled it out, to see an email from her professor.

'Dear students;

Due to a family emergency, I had no choice but to cancel class for today. I'm so sorry if I had to waste your time.

Sincerely, Professor Jackson.'

The woman sighed softly, sending a reply to her professor, saying that family comes first. She then heads back home. She wasn't that upset, but she disliked missing class. It was one of her "pet peeves." She turned around to make her way back home.

Meanwhile at Collège Françoise Dupont, a young 17 year old male happily makes his way out of school. He has a fair/tan skin tone, brown eyes, brown hair that was combed back, and a slim and skinny build. He wore a plain gray jacket zipped up halfway over a bright blue t-shirt, worn out blue jeans and black running shoes. Around his neck, is a whistle and he wears a pair of black glasses. This was Leo Garcia. He had a crush on Maria for a very long time, and he smiled upon seeing her.

Leo happily approached her. "Hey, Maria," he said.

Maria turned around and smiled at him. "Hi, Leo," she replied.

"So, uh," Leo began, feeling slightly awkward but somehow excited at the same time. "I was wondering if you would like to go to my party?"

"Oh...Leo," Maria blushed lightly. "I would-"

But she's cut off by her older sister, Madison, strutting her way up to her sister. Madison had a peach skin tone, long black hair that goes down to her waist, tied into a French braid, light blue eyes, a pink tube top, a black, see-through, long-sleeved t-Shirt is worn underneath, a violet sequin skirt, that stops at above the knees, a pink belt, black leggings, pink pumps (shoes), black, "M-frame" sunglasses with a violet frame, and a pink and violet star pendant. She carries a pink hand fan with her. She also wears pink lipstick.

"I wouldn't dare be seen at a lame party of yours," Madison lowered her sunglasses.

"Madison!" Maria gasped.

"What? It's true, his parties are lame. My parties are much better than that loser. Come, Maria," Madison beckoned to her sister, before strutting away, like the snob she is. Maria gave an apologetic smile, before following her older sister.

Leo, however, was downtrodden. He felt heartbroken. His confidence had been destroyed by that entirely. He had no clue how to impress her now.

A mechanical whir broke the chamber's silence, and ghastly blue light was allowed into the circular room. The moment the light struck the white forms along the ground, the butterflies, now luminescent, took to the air. They filled the dim chamber as a cloud of beating wings, hovering around the figure in the center of the room. It would soon reveal Hawk Moth.

"An upset boy, not able to impress his crush? This is perfect," the butterfly villain grinned wickedly, as he held out his hand for a butterfly to land on. As soon as it did; he would cover it, and give it dark energy; to turn it into an akuma.

"Fly away my evil akuma, and corrupt this poor unfortunate soul!"

The akuma would fly out into Paris, to search for its victim.

It would soon find Leo, who was still downtrodden about what had just happened. The akuma would flutter down, and go into his whistle. Leo would look up, as his face darkened to a darker shade of moderate vermilion. A light butterfly mask would also appear.

"Partier. I am Hawk Moth. I can give you the power to throw an endless party to impress your crush; and get revenge on her brat of a sister. All I ask for in return are the Miraculouses of Ladybug, Cat Noir, Ocelot, and Lionne. Do we have an agreement?"

Leo would smirk. "Sounds good to me, Hawk Moth."

The purple ether would cover Leo, transforming him into his villain form. When it faded, he looked completely different. His skin had turned an unnaturally pale color, with bright reddish-brown eyes and spiky multi-colored hair. His attire had changed to be a loose unzipped bright blue hoodie with a loose red shirt, black biker shorts, and white sneakers. The whistle had turned dark purple, and he also wore sunglasses and spiked bracelets.

Later…

Maria was in her bedroom. She felt guilty that her crush had been talked down by her older sister, so she opened her window, hoping that he was okay.

At the bottom of the window, Partier was there. It wasn't stalking, but he just really wanted to impress her.

"Leo?" Maria asked.

"Leo isn't here right now," Partier answered with a dismissive wave, "I am Partier now."

"Partier?" Maria was confused.

"You heard me," Partier replied with a wink. "And I've got a massive party to throw."

"I…" Maria was shocked, a blush starting to form on her face from the wink.

"Relax," Partier replied, noticing her shock. "Nobody has to get hurt."

The butterfly outline would appear on his face. "Except for those heroes. Don't fail me, Partier!"

"Of course, Hawk Moth," Partier responded, as the butterfly outline would vanish.

Maria felt her heart flutter. "So, um, if you don't mind me asking, what are you planning to do for this party?"

"To impress a beautiful lady like yourself," Partier answered. "You're the guest of honor, and you'll be able to watch as I take away the Miraculouses of Ladybug, Cat Noir, Ocelot, and Lionne!"

"Leo, this isn't you," Maria gasped. "Please, reconsider!"

"Leo isn't here right now, only Partier," Partier replied, "and we've got a party to attend."

Maria gulped nervously.

The akuma alert would go off, and Marinette, Adrien, Roland, and Juliette each went to hide in order to transform into their alter-egos.

"Another akuma?" Marinette groaned, hiding in the bathroom. "Well, let's get going, and find out what's happening. Tikki, Spots ON!" Marinette declared, transforming into her alter-ego: wearing a red superhero jumpsuit covered in black spots and with a black collar/turtleneck. Her yo-yo was wrapped around her waist with a red string. On her face is a red mask with five black spots that are in a symmetrical design, and the waterlines of her eyes are coloured black. Her earrings are red with five black spots in a quincunx pattern, and the bands holding her hair back become red ribbons, resembling a ladybug's antennas or a ladybug flying when she's moving. Her eyes became a vivid azure. She would pose at the end of her transformation.

Adrien hid in the locker room. "No time to lose. Plagg, Claws Out!" His ring would turn black, and gain a green paw print on its face. He has cat eyes with green sclerae, dark green irises, and oval pupils. His hair becomes longer and untamed, and it covers his normal ears. Cat Noir wears a textured black skin-tight catsuit with metal details. He wears matching gloves that have claws on the fingertips and boots with a hidden wedge, silver toes, and paw-shaped treads. He has a golden bell on his neck, connected to a zipper on the front of his costume, and a long belt that wraps around his waist and hangs out from the back like a tail. He wears black cat ears and a black mask around his eyes. He'd pose at the end of his transformation.

Roland would find a place to hide, and let Occa out of his scarf once the coast was clear. "Occa, streaks on!" he declared, as Occa is absorbed into the silver oval hair clip: which turns black and the inside turns a golden yellow. It has 5 rosettes inside.

Roland soon wore a golden yellow suit with large streak spots on the arms, torso, back, and legs that have a thick black outline and are light yellow in the middle. He has a light yellow middle section down his middle that goes slightly down his thighs before curving under him and partly up his butt. Around his waist is a belt-like structure that holds a long tail that is golden yellow with black spots. His tail is very heavy and usually used for leverage, but can be removed to wield like a flail. He wore tall boots that point up to his knees with a black heel and a light metallic yellow toe that are fashioned like paws.

The sole of his boots also have paws on the bottom. His collar is black and goes up his neck; though it comes down in the middle with a diamond shape around the middle of his collar bone. His mask is heavily marked like an ocelot's face with black and white markings on golden yellow. His eyes gain a blue sclera and turn to slits like a cat's do. He has fake ocelot ears including oceli on the back of them. His hair also gets long and shaggier, the longest parts on both sides of his head gain a golden yellow ombre at the ends. He has gauntlets with heavily armored fingers joints and knuckles that end with sharp claws at the ends. He would pose at the end of his transformation.

Juliette hid in an empty classroom. "Leena, let's roar!" Leena would be absorbed into the barrette, which turned gold, and looked like a lion's paw. Juliette's eyes turned hazel, and became cat-like, and her platinum blonde hair was taken out of its braid, turning auburn, and becoming straight. Her clothes would be soon be replaced with a sleeveless golden and strapless dress that reached to her knees, and golden arm-length gloves with black claws on them. She also had long black boots, that had a golden lion logo on the back of each boot. A golden belt would be wrapped around her waist, and it had a long, lion tail attached to it. There were two holsters on her dress; each of them contained a dagger. Finally, a golden superhero mask would appear over her face. She would pose once her transformation was complete.

In the heart of Paris, a party was going on. Guests were trying to look like they were having a fun time, mainly because they didn't want to anger an akuma. Maria was there, and she was trying to enjoy the party too, but she was scared. People who didn't dance were lifted by Partier's telekinetic powers, and frozen. This got people very scared; and they didn't want that to happen.

The heroes would be watching from a rooftop. "It seems like whoever doesn't enjoy this party gets frozen, and lifted up," Lionne muses.

"But where's the akuma?" Ocelot asked.

"Over there!" Cat Noir said, noticing Partier going up to Maria.

"Well, well, my beautiful princess, are you enjoying my party?" Partier flirted.

"Y-yeah, I am," Maria responded nervously.

"Don't be nervous. You're my guest of honour. I would never hurt you," Partier flashed a charming smile.

Maria's face flushed in embarrassment.

"Hey, you loser!" Madison's shrill voice was heard. "This party is so lame! I demand that you end it right this instant!"

Partier would growl. "Excuse me for one minute, my princess." He held out his hand, and would lift Madison up, and soon, freeze her in place. Madison had a look of anger on her face. Partier would then use his telekinetic powers to grab a marker, and draw crude things over her face. "That's what you get!"

Maria had to cover her mouth with her hand to stop herself from laughing. Sure, Madison was a pain, but she didn't deserve this. "Leo, please, you've got to stop this!"

"How many times do I have to tell you? Leo's gone! Partier has taken his place!" Partier turned to Maria, anger in his voice.

Maria flinched at the anger in his tone.

"Ugh, where are those pathetic heroes already? I need their Miraculouses!" Partier growled.

"Oh, were you looking for us?" Lionne would jump down from her vantage point. She twirled her daggers, flashing a toothy grin. "I can't believe you started the party without us, right guys?"

Ladybug, Ocelot and Cat Noir would also jump down from their vantage points. "That's right, Lionne. Now, how about we get this party started?" Ocelot smiled. "I for one, would love to share a dance with you."

"Now now, Ocelot, we've got an akuma to deal with first," Lionne grinned, a bit of flirtation in her voice.

Ocelot chuckled softly.

"They're just like us, am I right, bugaboo?" Cat Noir grinned at Ladybug.

"Yeah, yeah, kitty, but come on, we still need to deal with this," Ladybug replied. "Where do you think the akuma is?"

"Ladybug! It's the whistle!" Maria called out. "Please, save Leo!"

"Don't worry, we will," Ladybug promised.

Partier growled, and would use his telekinetic powers to throw plates at the heroes. They would all dodge. People screamed, as they ran away to hide.

"No one's going anywhere!" Partier yelled, using his telekinetic powers to lift them up, and freeze them in mid-air. The only ones not frozen would be the heroes, along with Maria.

"We need to do something, and quickly!" Lionne exclaimed.

"LUCKY CHARM!" Ladybug shouted, throwing her yo-yo into the air. Magical ladybugs would surround it, before an item dropped into her hand. "Huh? A drone box?"

"Ooh, we can use this to distract Partier," Ocelot said.

"Good idea," Lionne nodded.

"Okay, so who wants to control it?" Ladybug asked.

"I can," Ocelot said.

Ladybug took the drone out of the box; and gave the remote to the ocelot hero.

Partier laughed wickedly. "A drone? Really? That's how you're gonna defeat me?"

"Don't count yourself cocky," Lionne said.

Partier would use his telekinetic powers to try and grab the Miraculouses, but they managed to dodge the attack.

Maria was hiding, while crying.

"Hey, don't cry," Lionne said comfortingly.

"But I feel like it's my fault! If Madison hadn't mocked Leo, he wouldn't have been akumatized!" Maria sobbed.

"We need your help in getting that whistle," Lionne said, as Ocelot used the drone to distract the akumatized supervillain.

"I...I guess so..." Maria sniffled.

She quietly snuck over to grab the whistle from the akuma.

Partier didn't notice her sneaking over.

Maria quickly took the whistle off. "I'm sorry, Partier." She tossed the whistle to Cat Noir, who summoned his Cataclysm to destroy it.

"CATACLYSM!" Cat Noir shouted, as the dark energy pulses in his hand. He touched the whistle.

The whistle turned to dust and was destroyed. When it was destroyed, the akuma fluttered out.

Ladybug opened her yo-yo, after releasing Partier. "Party's over, akuma." She twirled her yo-yo. "TIME TO DE-EVILIZE!" She swung the yo-yo at the escaping akuma, before capturing it. "Gotcha!" She turned around and released the now purified butterfly. "Bye bye little butterfly." She would then take the drone, and throw it up into the air. "MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!"

Magical ladybugs would go around Paris, unfreezing and returning the frozen people to the ground. It would also go past Partier, who would transform back into Leo; who was confused. "Huh? What am I doing here?"

"POUND IT!" the four heroes fist bumped with each other.

Under the fluttering wingbeats, Hawkmoth growled and his cane creaked under the pressure of his grip. He clasped a hand over his brooch, and his voice rumbled against the metal walls, "Curse you, Ladybug. Your luck won't last forever." He then shouted to the window, as the metal shutters began to close, "I shall have your Miraculous one day!"

Leo looked at Maria. "What...happened?" he asked.

"You were akumatized, but Ladybug, Cat Noir, Lionne, and Ocelot saved you," Maria replied.

"Akumatized…" Leo trailed off before going into a panic. "I didn't hurt you, did I?!" He asked, worried.

Maria shook her head. "You didn't hurt me, Leo."

Leo sighed in relief. "Good, I'm glad."

Maria quickly kissed his cheek, before she pulled away, blushing.

Leo also blushed. "What was that for?" he asked, curious.

"Isn't it obvious? I like you, Leo. And I don't care what my sister says, your parties are not worthless," Maria replied.

Leo blushed a brighter shade of red. "Well I like you too," he responded, "and I guess, if you wanted we could...be a couple…" he suggested.

"I'd like that," Maria replied.

Leo smiled at that. "Was there anything you wanted to do for a first date?" he asked.

"How about the aquarium?" Maria suggested.

"To the aquarium it is then," Leo replied with a smile as he held out his hand.

Maria happily took his hand, as they walked to the aquarium.

Okay, that's the end of this chapter! Let me know your thoughts!
