Chapter 27: The Attack
November 20, 1872
Headmaster Merlin Official Journal: Wednesday, November 20, 1872.
As a Headmaster, my worst fear has come true. This morning, without warning, forces from the Witch Revolutionary Front, also known as the WRF, have mounted an attack on the Wendarby Institute. The staff of the Institute was able to successfully evacuate the student body to Hexley Hall using the portal that links both schools.
As it stands right now, teachers here at the Institute have been able to hold the Witch Revolutionary Front back, and we still have control of the Institute. From what I have been able to personally observe, the forces from the Witch Revolutionary Front seem to be under the command of a mysterious group of people who the Witch Revolutionary Front have joined up with. Their intentions right now are unclear.
I have been able to send a crystal ball message to Enchancia Castle alerting King Roland about the situation. I understand an emergency meeting is taking place there as I write this.
At that same moment, at Enchancia Castle, the emergency meeting was being held in King Roland's study. As Roland, Miranda, Amber, James, Lucinda, and Violet were discussing the situation at the Wendarby Institute, a knock came at Roland's door.
"Enter," Roland invited.
The door opened, and in walked Baileywick.
"Pardon the interruption, Your Majesty," Baileywick apologized. "We have guests who should be attending this meeting."
"Who is it, Baileywick?" Roland wanted to know.
"Princess Dorrie and Princess Candice," Baileywick answered.
"Please, show them in," Roland smiled.
Baileywick showed Dorrie and Candice in, then left.
"King Roland," Dorrie acknowledged as she and Candice curtsied.
"It's good to see the two of you again," Roland warmly greeted. "In what capacity are you here?"
"Officially, we're here as Crimson Force agents," Candice explained. "Unofficially, we're here as Voyagers."
"Then Voyager Command has an interest in the situation?" James asked, curious.
"Yes," Dorrie confirmed. "The WRF mounting an attack against the Wendarby Institute went off too smoothly."
"Headmaster Merlin did say that the WRF seemed to be under the command of another group," Roland remembered.
"Indeed," Candice remarked. "Voyager Command is theorizing this other group could well be ... Drake's followers."
"Great," James said in disgust. "That's all we need right now."
At that moment, a knock came at Roland's door.
"Enter," Roland instructed.
The door opened, and Baileywick walked back in.
"Your Majesty," Baileywick started. "Lady Bethany, Lady Louise, and Ella Ayward are here. Princess Hikari, along with Elizabeth, Marie, and Timothy, will be arriving within the hour."
"Please, show Bethany, Louise, and Ella in," Roland requested. "We can get a first-hand account from them."
Baileywick showed fourteen-year-old Bethany, twelve-year-old Louise, and twelve-year-old Ella into Roland's study.
"I have to be getting down to the courtyard, Your Majesty," Baileywick informed Roland. "We've been informed a flying carriage with Princess Sofia will be arriving soon."
"Bring her up here the moment she arrives," Roland instructed. "She'll want to know what is going on. And bring Hikari and the others up here when they arrive."
"Yes, Your Majesty," Baileywick acknowledged as he left.
"Thank God the three of you are safe," Violet said in relief as she hugged Bethany, Louise, and Ella.
"Ladies," Roland said to Bethany, Louise, and Ella. "We'll need to get your report on what happened at the Wendarby Institute."
"Of course, sir," Bethany acknowledged, speaking on behalf of herself, Louise, and Ella. "The Witch Revolutionary Front attacked the Institute shortly after breakfast started. The teachers at the Institute held them off as the head housekeeper and Professor Castellion led the students to the portal that connects the Institute to Hexley Hall."
"Indigo was always fast on her feet," Lucinda remarked. "She would immediately spring into action and help the head housekeeper get the students to safety."
"Does anybody know who this head housekeeper is?" Miranda wanted to know.
"A woman called Phoebe Figalilly," Bethany reported. "She hasn't been at the Wendarby Institute very long. By the way, when I was going through the portal to Hexley, Miss Figalilly handed me a note to give to Mom."
At that moment, Sofia opened the door to Roland's study and walked in.
"I see there are only Voyager-related people here," Sofia noted. "Has anybody noticed that what is happening at the Wendarby Institute isn't supposed to be happening?"
"Yes, Princess," Violet acknowledged as she took the note from Bethany. "Perhaps this note will answer some questions."
As Violet read the note, Sofia did a quick reunion with her family.
"It's good to see you, Sofia," Miranda smiled as she hugged Sofia. "How did you manage to get some time off from High Hope Dance Academy?"
"I explained to Dame Skyla that since we have a major emergency in Enchancia, and I am a royal sorceress of Enchancia, I am needed here for the time being," Sofia answered. "Given the circumstances, Dame Skyla agreed."
"It's nice to have you back, even for a little while," Roland said to Sofia.
"I'm afraid we have a very major Voyager-related problem," Violet reported after reading the note. "We're seeing a very rare occurrence where a new watershed event is developing before our eyes."
"Watershed event?" Louise asked, not familiar with the term.
"A major event in history that cannot be changed," Violet explained. "In this case, an event that originally didn't occur, but is occurring now."
"Who is that note from?" Roland asked, curious.
"From this Phoebe Figalilly character," Violet answered. "Turns out she's a Voyager from a Voyager Command in the future. She was sent here to protect Bethany and Louise."
"And helping Bethany and Louise to escape, along with the other students, would have fulfilled that mission," Dorrie theorized.
"We have to be careful here," Candice cautioned. "We have new history unfolding before our eyes. We obviously have to let it have its birth while making it fit in with other future history."
"But why go after Bethany and Louise?" Amber asked.
"I've been told they play an important role in the future of the Ever Realm," Ella spoke up. "My parents told me. I can't go into specifics. No Voyager or future Voyager is allowed to know his or her future."
"Quite right," Violet agreed.
At that moment, Baileywick brought in Hikari, Elizabeth, Marie, and Timothy.
"Thank God the four of you are safe," Miranda said in relief.
"Ah, good!" Timothy said upon seeing Bethany, Louise, and Ella. "The three of you made it out."
"We were among the first out," Louise responded.
"That would explain that, then," Elizabeth remarked.
"Explain what?" Roland wanted to know, curious.
"When I was leaving, some of the Witch Revolutionary Front had managed to penetrate a little bit into the school," Elizabeth reported. "They were crazy mad they couldn't find Bethany or Louise."
"Baileywick," Roland instructed. "Double the security detail around the castle. And put guards around the servants' quarters. If the Witch Revolutionary Front come here looking for Bethany and Louise, let them find us ready."
As everybody talked, Dorrie walked over to Candice and Violet.
"The last time history was changed to such a degree, all hell broke loose," Dorrie whispered to Candice.
"The Kennedy incident," Candice remembered in a whisper. "A researcher from the future traveled to 1963 and prevented President Kennedy's assassination."
"And in doing so caused natural disasters, and the Soviets to go on a war footing," Violet whispered. "You're thinking something similar could happen here, aren't you, Dorrie?"
"Yes," Dorrie whispered back. "We might have to act fast if the worst happens, By the way, Mom. How are your Tardis piloting skills?"
"Like you and Candice, my amulet gives me the ability to operate a Tardis," Violet answered in a whisper. "Why do you ask?"
"You may be needed to pilot a Tardis on your own," Dorrie whispered.
"Ladies," Roland addressed Dorrie, Candice, and Violet. "Anything wrong?"
"Just discussing the situation among ourselves, King Roland," Violet answered. "I should be gathering the servants together to tell them what is going on. With your permission, sir?"
"Of course, Violet," Roland agreed.
Back at the Wendarby Institute, Headmaster Merlin was walking down a hallway when he came across a group of teachers holding wands. From the group of teachers, two eighteen-year-old women walked up to Merlin.
"Makayla, Holly," Merlin addressed the two women. "Report."
"The WRF managed to get inside for a little while, Headmaster," Makayla reported.
"However, we were able to eventually drive them back outdoors," Holly further reported. "They are currently in the courtyard."
"The funny thing is, Headmaster, they appear to be at a loss for what to do next," Makayla pointed out.
"Interesting," Merlin responded. "Once the best-laid plans fall apart, it's very hard to put them back together again. Keep an eye on them. Cornered animals tend to lash out in unexpected ways."
"Yes, Headmaster," Makayla and Holly acknowledged as they rejoined the group of teachers.
Outside of the Wendarby Institute, in the courtyard, the force belonging to the Witch Revolutionary Front, as well as Drake's followers, stood talking to each other.
"Well, a fine mess we're in now!" a witch spat at Drake's followers. "No sign of Lady Bethany and Lady Louise, and the teachers are better prepared than we had thought."
"Patience," a male member of Drake's followers cautioned. "The original plan may have gone south, but things will work out nicely."
"And what is that supposed to mean?!" the witch snapped back.
In a few moments, a powerful earthquake struck nearby.
"What was that?!" the witch exclaimed, taken off guard.
"Time correcting itself," the man pointed out. "Expect more as time moves on."
"This could be fun," the witch smiled in glee.
Back at Enchancia Castle, Baileywick rushed into Roland's study.
"Your Majesty," Baileywick started. "A powerful earthquake has struck outside the Village of Wendarby."
"It's started," Dorrie whispered to Candice. "Time is balancing itself ... with powerful energy. We'll need to find Mom."
Dorrie and Candice excused themselves. In a few minutes, Dorrie and Candice found Violet talking to the servants. After Violet had talked to the servants, Dorrie and Candice motioned Violet over.
"A powerful earthquake has struck near Wendarby," Dorrie reported.
"Time is correcting itself," Violet acknowledged. "Mother Nature's way of trying to bring things into balance by whatever means necessary, What can we do to put things right?"
"I have an idea," Dorrie announced. "We take the First Story Keeper's Tardis and travel to what is left of Gallifrey."
"Why?" Violet wanted to know.
"There has to be some leftover Time Lord technology laying around ... including some Tardises," Dorrie explained. "We'll grab a Tardis for Mom, and for me, and we'll have three Tardises to bring back here. We can settle our Tardises into orbit, link them up, and use them to counteract what nature is doing here."
"Sounds like a plan," Violet approved. "How do we get to the First Story Keeper's Tardis? I suppose it is still in Ornburgh?"
"Yes, and no problem," Candice smiled as she brought out a small device from her pocket. "We can use this to have ourselves beamed aboard the First Story Keeper's Tardis. Then we can travel to Gallifrey."
"No time like the present, then," Violet pointed out.
"What about Bethany and Louise?" Dorrie asked.
"They will be safer right here at Enchancia Castle," Violet pointed out.
"What's going on?" Queen Miranda asked as she walked up.
"Time is being disrupted by what is going on at the Wendarby Institute, ma'am," Violet informed Miranda. "There's something that Dorrie, Candice, and I can do, but we'll need to leave for a while. Please inform King Roland, Bethany, and Louise."
"Do what you have to do," Miranda acknowledged. "Safe journey."
"Thank you, ma'am," Violet said as Miranda walked off.
Dorrie, Candice, and Violet held hands as Candice activated the device she had brought out from her pocket. In a few moments, the three disappeared into thin air.
Back at the Wendarby Institute, another earthquake struck nearby as massive storm clouds formed overhead.
"As much fun as this may be, we can't stay out here," a witch belonging to the Witch Revolutionary Front pointed out to Drake's followers.
"Indeed," a man with Drake's followers agreed. "Prepare to attack the Institute with full force."
Inside the Wendarby Institute, Makayla and Holly looked at what was going on in the courtyard.
"This isn't good," Makayla pointed out. "They are planning to rush us."
"All teachers! Stand ready!" Holly ordered.
Arriving on Gallifrey
The red planet of Gallifrey, located in the constellation of Kasterborous at galactic coordinates 10-0-11-0-0/0-2 from Galactic Zero Center. Once home of the Time Lords until the Time Lord society was wiped out by The Master. Now Gallifrey was a dead planet.
In the First Story Keeper's Tardis, Dorrie, Candice, and Violet looked at a viewscreen on the Tardis console as the Tardis approached Gallifrey. Dorrie, Candice, and Violet sighed in sadness at the sight of the now-dead Gallifrey.
"If we're going to do this?" Violet remarked.
"Setting coordinates for what's left of the Panopticon," Candice acknowledged as she adjusted some controls on the Tardis console.
In a few moments, the First Story Keeper's Tardis materialized inside the ruins of the Panopticon, which was once the Time Lord seat of power on Gallifrey. Dorrie, Candice, and Violet stepped out of the First Story Keeper's Tardis and viewed the ruins of the Panopticon.
"Such a waste," Dorrie remarked in sadness. "A once proud people gone ... thanks to a madman."
"Indeed," Candice added in sadness.
Violet looked around the Panopticon in sadness before turning to Dorrie and Candice. "We've best be looking for any Tardises that still exist."
Dorrie brought out a Tricorder and started scanning the area. "I'm picking up Arton Energy from a nearby chamber. Where there's Arton Energy ..."
"... there's bound to be Tardises," Candice finished.
Dorrie, Candice, and Violet walked to the chamber where they discovered six Tardises.
"All appear to be in working order," Dorrie noted as she scanned the Tardises with her Tricorder.
"Each of you, pick out a Tardis and head back to the Ever Realm," Candice directed. "I'll go back to the First Story Keeper's Tardis and I'll follow you shortly."
"You going to be okay here by yourself?" Violet asked Candice, concerned.
"I'll be fine, Mom," Candice reassured Violet. "You and Dorrie get going. As I said, I'll follow you shortly."
Violet and Dorrie each entered a Tardis. In a few moments, both Tardises disappeared into thin air on their way to the Ever Realm. Meanwhile, Candice entered the remaining four Tardises and activated the remote control unit on each Tardis. Candice then walked back to the First Story Keeper's Tardis and stepped inside. Candice then brought out a note from her pocket and thought back to when she had received the note.
Flashback:
Dorrie and Candice had just arrived at Enchancia Castle in response to the emergency at the Wendarby Institute. As Dorrie was talking to Baileywick, a twenty-one-year-old woman dressed in a maid uniform walked up to Candice.
"Pardon the interruption, Princess Candice," the woman apologized as she curtsied. "I'm a Voyager under Code Purple deep cover. This note will explain what you need to do. Consider these instructions to be Voyager Ultra Red Priority, only to be known by you."
"I understand," Candice acknowledged. "Who are you? You seem familiar somehow."
"A friend," the woman smiled. "I'd better be going. With your permission?"
"Of course," Candice agreed as the woman walked off, and Candice walked over to where Baileywick and Dorrie were talking.
"I'll take the two of you up to King Roland's study," Baileywick said to Dorrie and Candice.
As the three walked away, the woman looked at the sight from around a corner and smiled. The woman was in fact twenty-one-year-old Princess Rachel who had used her Transformation Manipulator to change her appearance.
"If you'll excuse me for a moment, I need to use the powder room," Candice said to Baileywick. "It's been a long trip from Ornburgh."
"Of course, Princess," Baileywick acknowledged as Candice walked off to secretly read the note she had been given.
End of flashback, and back to the present.
Back in the First Story Keeper's Tardis, Candice turned toward the Tardis console.
"Tarda," Candice addressed the Tardis computer, "engage the remote control units on the remaining four Tardises. Send them to the Ever Realm coordinates that I'm punching in now."
"Understood, Princess Candice," Tarda acknowledged in a female voice. "Remaining four Tardises on their way to the coordinates you have given me."
"One Tardis for Bethany, one Tardis for Louise, and one Tardis for an unknown person yet to come," Candice thought to herself. "Each will receive their Tardis when they come of age. And we'll leave the fourth Tardis in reserve. Better we have them than having them fall into the hands of the Daleks, or the Cybermen, or the Sontarans."
Candice then punched in a new set of coordinates which would return the First Story Keeper's Tardis to the Ever Realm of 1872. In a few moments, the First Story Keeper's Tardis disappeared into thin air from the ruins of the Panopticon.
Back in the Ever Realm
At the Wendarby Institute, a fierce battle between the teachers and the combined force of the Witch Revolutionary Front and Drake's followers was taking place. The teachers of the Wendarby Institute were managing to keep the combined force of the Witch Revolutionary Front and Drake's followers outside. As the battle raged, another powerful earthquake struck. At Enchancia Castle, the earthquake was felt there as well.
"Your Majesty," Baileywick reported. "Powerful earthquakes and violent storms are popping up all over the Ever Realm. These earthquakes and storms are causing heavy property damage, as well as a number of injuries and deaths."
"Let's hope Violet, Dorrie, and Candice can do something about this," Roland thought to himself in hope.
"A fresh report, Your Majesty," Baileywick announced. "Enchancian forces are approaching the Wendarby Institute, along with Queen Scarlett, Princess Faith, and Crimson Force."
"Good," Roland acknowledged, relieved. "That takes care of one problem. But we still have Mother Nature to worry about."
In orbit around the Ever Realm, the First Story Keeper's Tardis, Dorrie's Tardis, and Violet's Tardis were orbiting. In Dorrie's Tardis, Dorrie opened a channel to the First Story Keeper's Tardis and Violet's Tardis.
"I'm picking up earthquakes and storms all across the Ever Realm," Dorrie reported.
"Same here," Candice acknowledged.
"And here," Violet further acknowledged.
"We have to act fast," Dorrie advised. "We'll establish a weather control field around our three Tardises. With any luck, we can use the field to stop the earthquakes and storms."
Dorrie, Candice, and Violet managed to establish a weather control field around their Tardises which were near each other.
"Okay. We're ready," Dorrie reported. "We'll use our Tardises to direct the weather control field toward the surface of the Ever Realm. On my mark. Three. Two. One. Engage!"
The three Tardises directed the weather control field toward the surface.
"We're having an effect," Dorrie announced. "Ten percent correction. Twenty percent correction. Thirty percent correction."
"I'm getting indications of a problem," Tarda reported. "By my calculations, we will only be able to achieve a forty-five percent correction. We'll need more Tardises to bring it up to a one hundred percent correction."
"Did you hear that Mom, Dorrie?" Candice asked.
"Yes," Dorrie sadly acknowledged.
"Now what do we do?" Violet asked.
"Not to worry," a female voice came over a Tardis communications frequency. "Help has arrived!"
"Establishing visual communications," Dorrie announced.
Activating visual communication, a female face came into view: a thirty-three-year-old Bethany.
"Louise and I thought you could use some help," Bethany smiled. "After all, family sticks together."
At that moment, two additional Tardises appeared on Dorrie's scanner.
"How did the two of you get Tardises?" Dorrie asked, taken off guard.
"Well, to make a long story short, Candice took the remaining four Tardises you found and sent them to the Ever Realm," Bethany explained.
"Candice," Violet started. "We'll discuss this later."
"There are two more of us arriving," a thirty-one-year-old Louise announced. "One's identity has to remain secret. The other you know."
At that moment, a black woman appeared on everybody's communications screens. It was the Ruth Doctor.
"Hello, ladies," Ruth smiled. "Could you use some help?"
"Could we ever!" Dorrie acknowledged, relieved.
"Okay, ladies," Ruth directed, "let's connect all of our Tardises to the weather control field."
Ruth's Tardis, Bethany's Tardis, Louise's Tardis, and the unknown Tardis linked with Dorrie's Tardis, Violet's Tardis, and the First Story Keeper's Tardis to form an even stronger weather control field.
"We're ready," Ruth announced as the weather control field was once again directed toward the surface. "Forty percent correction. Fifty percent correction. Seventy percent correction. Ninety percent correction. And ... one hundred percent correction. Good job, ladies."
"Thank you for your help," Dorrie communicated gratefully to Ruth, Bethany, Louise, and the unknown Tardis.
"Anytime," Ruth smiled as her Tardis, Bethany's Tardis, Louise's Tardis, and the unknown Tardis disappeared from sight, leaving Dorrie's Tardis, Violet's Tardis, and the First Story Keeper's Tardis orbiting the Ever Realm.
"We've better get down there," Dorrie advised. "I'm sure forces will be arriving to defend the Wendarby Institute. They're going to need all the help they can get."
Meanwhile, near the Village of Wendarby, Enchancian forces along with Scarlett, Faith, and Crimson Force were gathered. In charge of the Enchancian forces were Sofia and Lucinda.
"Wait?" Scarlett noticed. "What is that?"
"Dead quiet," Sofia responded. "No earthquakes, and no storms."
"Dorrie, Candice, and Violet must have been successful," Lucinda pointed out. "We've better get to the Wendarby Institute while the going is good."
At the Wendarby Institute, a fierce battle was taking place between the combined forces of the Witch Revolutionary Front and Drake's followers, and the teachers of the Institute. There was wand fire all over the place. Just inside of the Institute, there was hand-to-hand fighting going on. Among the teachers were Makayla, Holly, and Indigo. Makayla and Holly were hitting the enemy forces with chairs, while Indigo was punching the living daylights out of any enemy who crossed her path.
"We're not gonna be able to hold them back forever!" Makayla warned.
As a witch was about to bear down on Makayla, a blast from Merlin's wand stopped the witch cold.
"Thank you, Headmaster," Makayla said, grateful.
"Anytime, my dear," Merlin smiled.
Suddenly, another witch lunged forward and headed toward Merlin. Before the witch could reach Merlin, Phoebe Figalilly threw a fire potion at the witch. The now-on-fire witch ran away looking for any water to jump in.
"Nicely done, Miss Figalilly," Merlin praised.
As the fighting raged, Enchancian forces along with Sofia, Lucinda, Scarlett, Faith, and Crimson Force approached.
"Attack!" Scarlett ordered.
Enchancian forces, Crimson Force, Scarlett, Faith, Sofia, and Lucinda rushed the combined force of the Witch Revolutionary Front and Drake's followers. Upon seeing the large force approaching, and knowing that whatever plans they had were over, Drake's followers activated their Omnis and disappeared into thin air. Witches from the Witch Revolutionary Front put up a fight but were quickly overwhelmed. The siege of the Wendarby Institute was over.
"Queen Scarlett, Princesses," Merlin said to Scarlett, Faith, Sofia, and Lucinda as he approached. "Thank you for your help."
"Anytime, old friend," Scarlett acknowledged, pleased.
At that moment, Violet, Dorrie, and Candice showed up.
"It's over, I see," Violet noticed.
"Nice job, you three," Sofia praised Violet, Dorrie, and Candice. "Whatever you did, it stopped the earthquakes and storms".
"Well, we had some help," Violet winked.
From a distance, the Ruth Doctor, thirty-three-year-old Bethany, thirty-one-year-old Louise, and the person from the unknown Tardis stood looking at the scene. The person from the unknown Tardis was ... twenty-one-year-old Rachel.
"That's over," Ruth said, relieved.
"We'd better be getting home," Bethany suggested to Louise and Rachel.
"It was a pleasure working with you," Ruth smiled at Bethany, Louise, and Rachel. "See you out there."
Bethany and Louise stepped inside of their Tardises and soon departed. Rachel stayed behind with Ruth.
"Sticking around?" Ruth asked Rachel.
"Just for a few moments," Rachel answered. "I want to make sure everything is all right here before I leave."
"You always go that extra mile," Ruth praised. "No wonder you're one of Voyager Command's top Voyagers."
"Thank you, Doctor," Rachel said, pleased, as she held an amulet with an orange gemstone in her hand.
"That's beautiful," Ruth remarked.
"Thank you," Rachel acknowledged, pleased. "It's the Amulet of Delphtor, named in honor of my birth parents. Scarlett gave it to me shortly after I arrived at Ornburgh Castle as a child."
"A fine gift," Ruth approved as she looked at what was going on in the distance. "We've best be going. Don't want to overstay our welcome."
"You're right as always, Doctor," Rachel acknowledged. "Until we meet again."
"Until we meet again," Ruth happily said as the two warmly hugged each other.
That night at Enchancia Castle
In the Secret Library, Violet, Dorrie, and Candice were standing with the First Story Keeper.
"I would be honored to have you store the Tardises you brought back from Gallifrey here in the Secret Library," the First Story Keeper approved. "Princess Candice is to be praised. It's better that these Tardises are here instead of sitting around in the open on a now-dead Gallifrey. Not only are they here on another planet, but they are also in a different dimension - safe from enemies such as the Daleks, Cybermen, and Sontarins."
"Thank you, sir," Candice acknowledged, pleased.
"The three of you have a celebration to attend," the First Story Keeper smiled. "Please, enjoy yourselves. You've earned it."
In a little while, a celebration was held in the ballroom of Enchancia Castle. Everybody had a fine time as they talked to each other. In a corner of the ballroom, Merlin and Phoebe were talking to each other.
"I suppose now that this situation is over with, you'll be leaving, Miss Figalilly?" Merlin wanted to know.
"Actually, Headmaster, I was meaning to talk to you about that," Phoebe started. "If you don't mind, I'd like to stay on at the Wendarby Institute for a while. I've grown quite fond of the place. And I'm told that being head housekeeper at Wendarby will help me down the road when I'm eventually assigned to a family. I don't know the details since it involves my future, but life tends to be a surprise."
"Well, we would be happy to have you as long as you want to stay," Merlin smiled.
"Thank you, Headmaster," Phoebe smiled back, pleased.
In another part of the ballroom, Timothy was talking to Faith as Scarlett was a distance away talking to King Roland and Queen Miranda.
"So ... you think your mom would ever go for a younger guy?" Timothy joked.
"She's over three hundred years old, Timmy," Faith pointed out. "Every guy's a younger guy."
"Good point," Timothy smiled as he and Faith chuckled.
As Timothy and Faith continued to talk to each other, Roland, Miranda, and Scarlett were discussing official business.
"What about property damage caused by the earthquakes and storms?" Miranda wanted to know.
"The League of Kingdoms is setting up an emergency fund," Roland revealed. "And Enchancia is contributing to that emergency fund."
"Cinnibar is contributing as well," Scarlett announced. "And other kingdoms are contributing. Arendelle, Avalor, Cariza, Castlehaven, Corinthia, Corona, Farmington, Freezenburg, Jalpur, Kaldune, Lacorinth, Orillia, Ornburgh, Satu, Tangu, Yensid, and Weiling have all pledged emergency funds, with other kingdoms working to come up with emergency funds of their own."
In a room near the ballroom, Dorrie and Candice were meeting with Carter and Dianna.
"So, what did you want to see us about?" Dorrie asked Carter and Dianna, curious.
"We have a surprise," Dianna announced.
"We're were told the time is right to tell the two of you," Carter revealed.
"Tell us what?" Candice wanted to know.
"Let us show you, first," Carter said as he and Dianna reached into their pockets. Carter and Dianna then each brought out ... a silver Omni.
"Oh my God!" Dorrie exclaimed, taken off guard.
"How?" Dorrie asked.
"We're being trained by Voyager Command to be ... Specialty Voyagers in charge of maintaining disability history," Carter answered.
"Our training will take a while," Dianna said. "We have our medical schooling here in the Ever Realm, so our Specialty Voyager training will be part-time."
"We'll also have a third Specialty Voyager in charge of maintaining disability history," Carter explained. "I believe you know her - Isadora Smackle."
"Yes," Candice smiled. "Yes indeed."
"Imagine the people you can help throughout history," Dorrie said, impressed. "Congratulations to the three of you."
"Thank you," Carter smiled.
"Yes, thank you," Dianna also smiled.
In another room near the ballroom, Violet, fourteen-year-old Bethany, and twelve-year-old Louise were talking with Faith.
"So, what did you want to see us about, Princess Faith?" Violet asked, curious.
"Mom and I were discussing Bethany and Louise the other day," Faith revealed. "Mom was thinking they should have a mentor. Alma Peregrine is fine for Peculiar subjects, but what about learning how to use their amulets? I offer my services as a mentor to them."
"That's very kind, Princess Faith," Violet acknowledged. "We wouldn't want to take up your time, however."
"We all know I'm immortal," Faith pointed out. "I have the body of a twelve-year-old, but I've been around the block more times than I can count. I've picked up a variety of valuable skills that Bethany and Louise would find useful. And physically right now, I'm about the same age as them. It would be nice if I could be a kid again, even if just for a little while."
"I understand, Princess," Violet gently said before turning to Bethany and Louise. "What do the two of you think?"
"We accept!" Bethany and Louise said in glee.
"Then it's settled," Violet smiled. "We'll work out a schedule."
Back in the ballroom, as Merlin and Phoebe were talking, a mysterious woman dressed in black walked up. Phoebe recognized the woman and immediately curtsied.
"No need for that," the woman requested.
"But, there is," Phoebe countered. "It's not every day that the great Nanny McPhee makes an appearance."
"I appreciate the flattery," Nanny McPhee acknowledged, pleased. "But it's not necessary."
"What may we do for you, ma'am?" Merlin asked, curious.
"The Wendarby Institute had a close call today," Nanny McPhee pointed out. "I don't take kindly to magical places of learning being attacked. If you'll have me, I'd like to offer my services to the Institute in a security capacity."
"We would be pleased to have you on staff," Merlin happily agreed.
"Excellent," Nanny McPhee said, pleased.
"If you'll return with us to the Institute tonight, I'll arrange for you to have an on-site apartment," Merlin offered. "We can then meet in my office tomorrow morning and discuss the finer points of your employment."
"Thank you, Headmaster," Nanny McPhee accepted. "I look forward to working with all of you,"
At that moment, nineteen-year-old Abby Murphy walked up with a plate of appetizers.
"Appetizers Headmaster Merlin, Miss Figalilly, Nanny McPhee?" Abby asked.
"Don't mind if I do, my dear," Merlin smiled.
"Thank you," Phoebe accepted.
"Lady Abby," Nanny McPhee happily greeted. "It's a pleasure to see you again. How is the staff I gave you holding up?"
"It's holding up very well, Nanny McPhee," Abby answered.
As Merlin, Phoebe, Nanny McPhee, and Abby talked, Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, James, and Hikari were standing nearby talking to each other.
"It's nice having you home, Sofia, even if just for a little while," Hikari smiled.
"It's nice being here," Sofia smiled back as she hugged Hikari.
"So, Lucy?" James asked Lucinda. "How did the Wendarby Institute fare?"
"It's a little banged up due to the battle and the earthquakes, but the damage is easily repairable," Lucinda reported.
"The Witch Revolutionary Front is a true menace," Amber pointed out.
"The ones we captured at Wendarby are going straight to Azkaban," Sofia revealed.
"Good riddance!" Amber exclaimed, relieved. "Too bad there isn't something more we can do to them."
"Well, Indigo managed to punch the snot out of a few of them," Lucinda said. "It will be a pummeling those on the receiving end won't soon forget."
Sofia, Amber, James, and Hikari chuckled at Lucinda's statement.
Standing nearby was Dorrie and Candice who smiled at the scene. Another crisis in the Ever Realm had been averted. Once again, everything was right with the world.
(End of Chapter 27).

Author's notes
"Actually, Headmaster, I was meaning to talk to you about that," Phoebe started. "If you don't mind, I'd like to stay on at the Wendarby Institute for a while. I've grown quite fond of the place. And I'm told that being head housekeeper at Wendarby will help me down the road when I'm eventually assigned to a family. I don't know the details since it involves my future, but life tends to be a surprise." Phoebe being eventually assigned to a family is a reference to Phoebe's adventures in "Nanny and the Professor".

Having Makayla and Holly appear in this chapter was a request by ciaramaglianina11.
Hikari is an alternate universe version of Hikari from "Digimon: Digital Monsters". Having Hikari appear in this story was the idea of Shaddowridder221. I decided to use Hikari's original Japanese name of Hikari to avoid confusion with Princess Kari from "Sofia the First".
Holly and Makayla are characters created by Going on and on and on, and are used in my stories with the permission of Going on and on and on.
Isadora Smackle is a slightly older version of the same character from "Girl Meets World". We first found out about Isadora being a Voyager in Chapter 54 of my story "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia".
"Lady Abby," Nanny McPhee happily greeted. "It's a pleasure to see you again. How is the staff I gave you holding up?" This is a reference to events seen in Chapter 60 of my story "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia".
Nanny McPhee is an earlier version of the same character from "Nanny McPhee" and "Nanny McPhee Returns". Having Nanny McPhee appear at this point in "Ever Realm Chronicles" was the idea of CarlaSwenKnight108. Meanwhile, I came up with Nanny McPhee serving at the Wendarby Institute in a security capacity.
