After they cleared out the last of the demons, the pathway led them out of the village to a trail that winded between two narrow cliff faces. They were significantly closer to the vortex now, to the point that Kazuya could hear an insistent hum, similar to the noise emanating from portals, however, this was mixed with what sounded like a swarm of bees; inconsistent in volume.
As usual, Kazuya leads the way, greatsword at the ready. They decided to take the trail at a slower pace, with its tight, confining walls forcing them in a near single-file line. Fighting here would be difficult if something were to ambush them. The most likely place would be from above, which had everyone on edge, peering up in hopes to catch sight of an enemy and taking away their element of surprise. They had Masuko take up the rear, as the next best in terms of defense, with Furuya and Sawamura safely sequestered in the middle.
While the standard mob was rather easy to take down as a group, solo would be difficult; deadly even. It's not impossible, but it would be incredibly stupid. A duo would be slightly better, a tank to distract and at least someone with a high damage output, though it would take a while just to kill one. Which made splitting up an option that was rarely considered, unless they were a skilled assassin tasked to scout ahead, like Kuramochi, otherwise it's generally better to stay in a tight-knit group. Though there have been occasions where the party had to split in half to handle certain endeavors required in some raids, but never struck out solo. During those instances, they will divide each team into as equal in damage as possible. Kazuya and Masuko typically were never in the same team, as Masuko would play the tank role for one while Kazuya covered the other. It was times like those that having a secondary tank would be helpful, but Seido wasn't one for being conventional. Hell, they don't even run with a healer.
They wind the last bend of the trail where the cliff faces widen to create a large, open area. There was nothing in it other than the same packed dirt with a loose dusting on top that gets kicked up with any sudden movement. The purple-hued fog was denser here as it settled low to the ground, which may obscure their vision if this were to be the boss's arena, and Kazuya had a strong hunch that it was; seeing how there weren't any exits or branching pathways other than the one they just followed.
The vortex completely towered over them as it blocked out the entirety of the sky directly ahead, but at least its illumination brightened the area more so than the village, which relied solely on moonlight. They all pile at the entrance, but as soon as Masuko stepped out from the claustrophobic walls, the air in the center began to distort; cracks formed then shattered like a broken mirror, spreading upward until a large scar was created. They could view the dark swirling void of another dimension before it was blocked when a large, hulking mass slowly emerged; clawed hands gripped the edges of the tear to help leverage itself out. Its wide shoulders took up the majority of the dimensional gateway, but once those passed, long, thin pointed legs stepped out and it rose to its full height.
Its general appearance was similar to that of the other primordial demons, dark in color with cracks that ran along its body, but instead of them glowing a faint purple, they were a brilliant blue. It stood about three times taller than the average demons they ran into; though its height was thanks to its long legs, which counted for half of its size, the rest making up its torso, with a small bulge situated at the top that had to be its head. Unlike its legs, its arms were large with what looked to be muscle. The tips of its claws reached halfway down its legs, and it seemed to hover several inches above the ground, which suggested the use of its legs was unnecessary.
The scar in the air behind it slowly sealed itself shut as if it had only been a mirage; there one second, and gone the next. Kazuya smirked at the Boss, "Kenshi, huh?" Because it had to be. While it did have some bulk, especially along its shoulders, the rest of it was slim in comparison. Plus the bulging of its arms suggested that they contained great strength.
"Oooh, it's big," Sawamura observed in awe as he stepped around Kazuya.
Kazuya shot his arm out to pull Sawamura back before he could get further in, "We don't know which point will trigger it into attacking," he said when Sawamura turned a withering glare in his direction, though Kazuya kept his own eyes trained on Kenshi for any indicators that it was about to attack. Thankfully, there was none, as it continued to hover idly in place.
Kazuya allowed a private second to lament the missed opportunity to comment on Sawamura's choice of words; as it was the perfect opening for a good teasing. Oh well, there'll be a next time.
"I wasn't going far," came Sawamura's mild complaint, though he did move back so Kazuya was the sole barrier between Kenshi and the party once again.
"Remember what we've discussed," came Yuuki's voice from somewhere behind him, "We play this safe, and don't allow yourself to feel rushed; that's when a lot of mistakes are made. Trust in your own abilities as well as those in the party. We each have our own roles and duties, so focus on those."
"Also, remember to save your stuns for when I get grabbed," Kazuya made sure to remind them. During one of their meetings, they decided to only use stuns, that way there wouldn't be any confusion between stunning the boss or knocking it down during the heat of battle. They concluded everyone's stun skills would be easier to utilize compared to knockdown. To successfully CC1 a boss, it required six people to use the same type within the span of three seconds for it to actually take effect. If someone were to accidentally use a different type of CC, then it would negate all the others that already landed, resetting the whole system.
Between stuns, knockdowns, and dazes; stuns were typically the most commonly used followed by knockdowns. The most underused CC were knockbacks, as very few classes actually had any that worked against bosses. The only people that really cared about them were those that regularly participated in tournaments. But in terms of dungeons and raids, they were practically useless.
Kazuya heard a particularly evil chuckle, followed by a quiet, "You'll be at our mercy," that sounded suspiciously like Kominato. Which, rude. Kazuya hadn't done anything to him in a while. That, however, made him pause as a sudden memory resurfaced; back in the Inabikari Forest, he did angle a ball of lightning towards Kominato's group when they were fighting a golem. But that was rather harmless in comparison.
"Are we ready?" Yuuki questioned at large. The various forms of affirmative were staggered as everyone prepared their self buffs. Kazuya himself reapplied the buff to absorb friendly fire, as well as one that cast a white light around him like a second layer of skin. It would take up to a certain amount of damage before it broke, leaving Kazuya completely unharmed during that time frame. Kazuya can only use it once per battle, which was why he liked to cast it at the very beginning as it gave him some time at the start to adjust to the boss's rotation without having to worry about blocking right away. His Taunting Rage still had a couple of hours left, so that should be fine. And if they happened to still be in the midst of battle by the time the duration ended, he could always reapply it then.
The rest slowly fanned out while Kazuya inched further forward, "Ready," he finally affirmed; the last to do so. Yuuki gave the countdown, and on his command, Kazuya moved. But instead of normally charging straight in, Kazuya simply walked towards Kenshi. Several of their sources had informed them that Kenshi will always start a battle the same way, with a move that, unfortunately, couldn't be blocked or resisted. So really, Kazuya's goal was to trigger Kenshi into attacking solely so they could get to the real battle after the initial start.
Kazuya made it to the halfway point when Kenshi finally moved. It perched the tips of its feet, deceptively delicate, on the ground, and with a strange, high-pitched wail mixed with a growl, a wash of blue energy formed a thin ring around its feet. Abruptly, the ring expanded outward, disrupting dust and blowing away the fog as it went. As soon as it passed under Kazuya's own feet, he felt his knees lock up; rendering him unable to move. Kenshi raised an arm, hand gripped the air as if it held on to an invisible rope, it jerked its arm back, and Kazuya watched as everyone sailed towards it; while Kazuya remained rooted.
He could hear mild groans and cursing from where the rest of the team lay at its feet. Kenshi twirled slowly upward, then aggressively slammed back down; the force launched them all back, passed Kazuya, and against the far wall. Kazuya had to contain a laugh at the sound of someone screaming as they flew by. Unfortunately, he wasn't given a chance to fully appreciate the moment or even discern the voice, before an invisible force gripped him tight around his middle and yanked him towards Kenshi.
Kazuya was held suspended in the air –legs dangled uselessly, and arms trapped against his sides– mere feet in front of Kenshi, which allowed Kazuya his first good look from up close. Kazuya watched as a new crack began to form high on its chest. It started as a spiral that swiftly expanded and thickened until it was a seemingly bottomless recess, roughly the size of a spinning wheel used to make cloth. The same blue energy swirled erratically within its depths when it suddenly took on a vacuum effect. It sucked in all the air around Kazuya whichleft him breathless, and whatever it was doing, it was quickly eating away at his second skin. The layer of light splintered every couple of seconds before it completely shattered. Immediately, Kazuya was met with an ice-cold sensation that raced through his veins, towards his chest, where he felt a strange tugging from deep within.
His heart raced with a sudden surge of panic, even though logically he knew he would survive this. Kenshi opened each battle by draining the tanks' health by half. Thanks to the minor shield buff he used at the beginning, Kazuya shouldn't lose that much, but having it actually happen, made it feel as if it were never-ending, that Kenshi could easily keep going until it completely drained him of his life force. Kazuya had a brief moment of fear that their sources had been wrong –it's happened before– and Seido was set up for failure.
It wasn't until his lungs began to strain for oxygen and his vision started to blur, that the unseeable force abruptly disappeared. However, before he even had a chance to fall, another force slammed solidly against his front, repelling him backward. He sailed weightlessly through the air, then collided hard with the packed earth. The momentum caused his body to roll several more feet until he finally came to a sliding halt; his greatsword held in a death grip in his hand throughout it all. He was slightly impressed with himself.
Feet pounding and resonating through the ground alerted Kazuya to several people's approach, even as he struggled to regain his breath, "Miyuki! Are you okay?" came Kawakami's voice, full of concern.
Kazuya rolled onto his side with a groan, immediately attempting to get back onto his feet, "Fantastic," he wheezed; winded.
Another warm rush of air swirled around Kazuya, courtesy of Sawamura, as he rose up to a knee, sword jammed into the ground for support, "Miyuki, drink a potion," Yuuki advised. And while Kazuya would love to do just that, his gaze fell upon Kenshi, who was already swiftly closing the distance; as it glided mere inches off the ground.
In a panic, Kazuya pushed himself fully into a vertical position, "No time," he said in a rush, already beginning to run headlong towards Kenshi, to intercept it halfway. Unfortunately, tanks didn't have very many windows of opportunities to consume potions. Unlike other positions that could simply run off to the sidelines real quick and then hop straight back into the action. Typically, Kazuya's always too preoccupied with the boss to pull out a bottle.
Before he and Kenshi meet, Kazuya yells over his shoulder, "Sawamura, use your Rejuvenation on me as much as you can!" Even though it didn't heal for much, it was better than nothing. And hopefully, between him restoring his health via blocks, and Sawamura's Rejuvenation, they'll get Kazuya's health somewhere back to full. Though most likely, both would barely cover for the absorbed friendly fire and the damage he's inevitably going to do to himself.
"Eh?!" He heard Sawamura squeak out in confusion, but Kazuya didn't have time to explain, nor to ponder any alternatives. He brought his greatsword up just in time to block a heavy swipe of claws, ducked underneath another, and rolled until he stood directly behind Kenshi. And like every other boss, Kenshi spun to continue its onslaught of attacks against Kazuya, leaving its back exposed for the rest of the party to safely join the fray.
The melees were on Kenshi immediately, dishing out their initial burst combos with Kawakami's Spirit Burst running through their systems, significantly aiding their damage outputs. Kazuya spent a lot of that time simply attempting to block; unfortunately, he wasn't able to throw in any damaging attacks of his own, at least not while he was still in the process of learning its attack pattern. Once he knew how it moved, he could take advantage of all its minor openings to get some hits of his own. Though he couldn't go completely without damaging Kenshi; if he didn't attack at all, even his higher threat level would mean nothing compared to the one that was doing the most damage; who would rapidly, and unintentionally, steal aggro. So Kazuya took some risky plays after he blocked or deflected an attack, to swing his greatsword in a high arc, or a series of quick slashes. He took a few direct hits, but, thankfully, despite Sawamura's confusion and without any explanation, he did as instructed. Every handful of seconds, warm air would waft around him, healing him just a bit, but enough to keep him going. While Kazuya wasn't dangerously low, he wasn't completely satisfied with where his health was at, either. Could be worse, but could definitely be better.
Annoyingly, Kenshi did, in fact, move around a lot. One second Kazuya would be blocking an attack, then the next, Kenshi would be gone, only to strike him from the back. Kazuya was always quick to try and reposition so none of the close combatants would have to worry about dodging wayward strikes. However, during one of its random teleports, Shirasu was clipped by a sweeping claw. Shirasu promptly got back to his feet and dived straight into the fight, and Kazuya can only assume that meant he was alright.
"Miyuki!" Yuuki shouted from somewhere on the opposite side of Kenshi. Kazuya couldn't actually see him; not like he had the ability to focus on anything other than the boss right now anyway, "You need a potion!"
Kazuya gritted his teeth, arms strained against another heavy strike, "Would you like to block, then? I'm a little busy!"
"Find time!" was Yuuki's only response. And of course, as soon as the words left his mouth, Kenshi hopped backward and away. It raised its arms up so they could all observe as the muscles shifted and morphed until its clawed hands formed two long, fleshy blades. Without delay, Kenshi charged.
Purely on reflex, Kazuya raised his sword in the nick of time to block the first of Kenshi's new, frenzied pattern of attack. It came at Kazuya from every angle, swiping its blades hard and fast. It took all of his concentration to follow along, turning this way and that to block as many of the strikes as possible, though, unfortunately, he couldn't catch them all. Periodically, he caught glimpses of the rest of the party as they lingered nearby, not able to find the right opportunity to jump back in. With how rapidly, and randomly Kenshi moved around Kazuya; he wasn't surprised they weren't able to land an attack on it.
Without warning, Kenshi disappeared from Kazuya's view, and instead of a solid strike against his back, as Kazuya expected; there was nothing. Instantly, his heart sank and he whipped his head around to cry out, "Furuya! Now!"
He located Furuya easily as Kenshi towered behind him, arm raised high in an impending strike. Kazuya observed in slow motion as the blade swung down. Watched as Furuya's eyes widened in alarm as he made to angle himself around to see, but before he could complete the motion, Kenshi's blade struck.
But instead of witnessing Furuya's downfall, a thick coat of ice instantaneously formed over them all. Kazuya himself had frozen mid-turn, greatsword pitched behind him in preparation for something he hadn't had the chance to figure out. Through the layer of glaze that obscured his vision, he could just about make out a darker blob that indicated Kenshi. The blob vanished from behind Furuya and reappeared next to another frozen statue, then teleported again, out of Kazuya's field of view. Seconds later, the ice thawed, causing Kazuya to shiver as he attempted to reorient himself. A shadow fell over him, and without thought, Kazuya belatedly spun around. He managed to dodge a swipe at his head and evaded back around Kenshi so he stood behind it.
Kenshi readily swiveled to face Kazuya, clawed hand swiping downward only to be blocked by his sword. At some point, Kenshi's blades had reverted back to hand form. Kazuya was glad, as he had just gotten its basic attack pattern down when it decided to switch things up with the blades. He used the minor opportunities in its rotation to land as many of his own attacks as he could, since apparently, Kenshi was going to take up all his attention with blocking, and Kazuya needed to get some hits in at least.
Kazuya blocked several swipes in succession when Kuramochi suddenly appeared at his elbow, "Here," was all he said as he shoved an already opened potion bottle in Kazuya's free hand. Kazuya ducked another swing, and Kuramochi completely vanished back into the shadows. Kazuya awkwardly juggled the bottle while he simultaneously balanced his sword at an angle to prevent another chain of attacks. During one of Kenshi's wind-up strikes, Kazuya quickly downed the liquid and chucked the bottle somewhere over his shoulder with only seconds to spare before he had to backstep out of range to avoid the damage. Both of Kenshi's claws uselessly whiffed through the space Kazuya had just evacuated, and as it was straightening back up, Kazuya dashed forward to meet it once again.
Kenshi temporarily popped out of existence, only to reappear behind him. Kazuya had predicted that, and was ready to block, before he sidestepped around Kenshi, so it had its back exposed to the party. Now that Kazuya had the majority of its movements down, he could maneuver and position himself around Kenshi in a way that the rest of the group wouldn't have to run far to get into safe positions for their continued attacks.
He and Kenshi were trapped in a weird sort of dance, where one would get behind the other, only for them to swap places seconds later. While Kenshi mainly did it to gain some sort of upper hand, Kazuya wanted to keep the scope of its attacks facing away from the raid group. With Kenshi's long arms, it had great reach, and anyone in front of it would be susceptible to being clipped by each sweep of its claws. Even those that found themselves at Kenshi's sides learned the hard way that they weren't safe there.
When Kazuya dared to chance another attack, his blade was met with air. Kazuya found himself abruptly making eye contact with Isashiki, as they took a second to stare at each other in confusion. Slowly, Isashiki's gaze trailed up to peer somewhere over Kazuya's shoulder. Kazuya craned his head around, expecting to see Kenshi directly behind him, however, Kenshi was nowhere near. In fact, it had teleported as far away as the arena would allow. Another blue ring formed around its feet, and like at the very start, the ring pulsed outward, in a wave that knocked back everyone as soon as it passed by; everyone but Kazuya, who was strangely immune. Not that it mattered, since the same invisible force wrapped around him and yanked him rapidly across the distance so he was once again, faced with the energy-filled recess in Kenshi's chest.
This was the moment where Kenshi needed to be stunned. Unfortunately, Kenshi had purposefully moved furthest away and even went as far as to knock back the rest of the party to increase the distance. They would need six stuns to effectively deal with this situation; with four ranged, they'll be able to get a stun off from a reasonable distance. However, two melees would need to reach Kenshi within a few seconds after the first stun hits.
And there lay the problem. If someone used a stun too early, and the full six couldn't be completed within the short time frame allotted, it would reset. The remaining six of the party that hadn't used theirs would then be required to successfully land a stun skill; however, Kazuya would technically be considered part of the leftover six, and as he was the one incapacitated, that left them with five. Which spelled certain death for him in that case, and the rest of the raid as they would be tankless.
The familiar icy feeling rushed through him as Kenshi began the draining process. But this time, Kazuya didn't have the shield to take a large chunk of the damage for him. Though that would only slightly prolong his life, as Kenshi wouldn't be stopping halfway this time. His lungs burned, and his eyes watered with the strong urge to breathe, when a thick arrow suddenly embedded itself deep into Kenshi's shoulder, followed shortly by a bolt of lightning. Out of his peripheral vision, he could just barely make out the plump body of Ume as she sailed by with a squawk. Kazuya could hear voices from somewhere below him, and the next thing he knew, he was plummeting to the ground, with Kenshi's wail echoing through his ears.
Kazuya landed hard in a crouch, his knees immediately protested the impact they were forced to take. He hastily utilized the opportunity to whip out a potion of his own, with his teeth he pulled the cork and chugged the contents. Like the previous bottle, this one went over his shoulder as well.
Kenshi stood slightly hunched over, tips of its feet braced against the ground, all while a soft, distorted whine emanated from it –arms hung bonelessly at its sides. They took advantage of its immobilization to attack freely, which was a first for Kazuya in this entire battle. Kawakami activated his Spirit Burst once again for a quick surge of damage, and this time, Kazuya was actually able to take advantage of the party buff as he ran through his own rotation of combos free of worry.
It ended all too soon, unfortunately, as Kenshi shook off the stun effect, but instead of immediately attacking, it teleported behind them, closer to the center of the arena. Its arms bulged and morphed back into blade form, "Oh great," Kazuya sighed. He weaved around members and dashed towards Kenshi to, once again, intercept its charge. In this frenzied mode, it made it difficult for anyone to attack, but thankfully it mainly focused on Kazuya. Like the first time, Kenshi whirled around Kazuya, letting loose hard-hitting blows that were nearly impossible to predict where the next one would come from. He was able to block a good chunk of them, but unless he used Ward, it was almost a guarantee he would take some hits.
Kazuya didn't want to waste Ward when he was still healthy enough to absorb more damage. It would be nice to have if or when he was in a dire state and needed to completely negate all attacks, but also if Furuya were to fail in timing his Ice Sheath. While it would take a lot of maneuvering to get everyone within the confines of Ward, it was still better than nothing. If he could at least gather those with weaker defense, the others should be fine after a single hit.
The wildness of its movements came to an abrupt pause, and Kazuya instantly knew what would come next. He wasn't the only one, as Kominato called out to Furuya before Kazuya had a chance. Seconds later, a sheath of ice encased them, shielding everyone from a possible assassination attempt dealt by Kenshi. This time, Kazuya broke out of it early. It was surprisingly easier than he anticipated. All he had to do was force his body to move, and the ice cracked and shattered into twinkling pieces, to then instantly melt at his feet. He effortlessly spied Kenshi behind an ice sculpture that appeared to be Kuramochi, who froze mid-run with only one foot on the ground. Kenshi poofed out of existence, and reappeared behind Sawamura's frozen body –Ume a preserved ice sphere attached to his head. Kenshi attacked him, but its blades didn't even chip the protective coating.
While he watched Kenshi uselessly swing at the frozen statues, he pulled out another potion. But of course, that was when Kenshi chose to teleport directly behind Kazuya in the midst of him drinking. He choked down the rest and spun around just in time to catch sight as Kenshi's blades deformed back to its default claws. He raised his sword to block the initial strike, and began their dance again, by circling behind Kenshi. By this point, the rest of the members had thawed and instantly jumped back into the action.
They continued through its regular rotation, which had Kazuya believing Kenshi was getting low on health, as some strikes would be lagged in comparison to how they used to be at the start. It had been even easier to block its attacks, as well as stayed stationary for longer stretches of time. However, it clearly wouldn't die without going all out.
Kenshi teleported to the other end of the area, once again, as far away as possible. The blue ring flared up around its feet, then bolted outward at high speed. There was no point in Kazuya doing anything, as he simply had to wait for Kenshi to grab him anyway. This time, the rest of the party was able to resist the blue energy in their own ways, so now they wouldn't have to deal with the knockback. All of them, however, except for Furuya and Sawamura who didn't seem to time their resistances correctly. Kazuya twisted his upper body to watch in amusement as Sawamura tumbled backward, letting out a yell of frustration. He couldn't figure out which was funnier; Sawamura's vocal flop, or Furuya's silent ragdoll.
Regardless, he snorted out a laugh that was abruptly cut short, as he was pulled rapidly towards Kenshi. Kazuya briefly heard Yuuki shout something, but was then too far away to discern the words. For the third time, Kazuya was constrained mid-air, fully at Kenshi's mercy. Left as the damsel in distress, waiting for his eleven knights in shining armor to come rescue him. Fortunately, Kazuya didn't have to wait as long this time around, as he found himself swiftly falling to his feet; prepared for the landing, he dropped his weight to evenly distribute the impact throughout his legs as opposed to letting his knees fully absorb the shock.
They hastily took advantage of Kenshi's stunned state, to unleash some of their higher damaging skills upon it. Before Kenshi could shake off the effect, it wobbled unsteadily on its stubbed feet, and with one last, gurgled whine, Kenshi toppled forward –forcing them all to sidestep out of the way– to crumple to the ground. Kenshi's body instantly began to burn and sizzle; charred pieces were carried away by the faint breeze like a burning sheet of parchment, and revealed the glowing treasure chest.
Kazuya jammed the tip of his greatsword into the earth and used the bottom of the guard to prop his arm on while he sipped languidly from another potion. It was nice to take his time with it, after having to rush the previous few down his throat. He simply watched while Yuuki kicked the lid of the chest open with the toe of his boot; happy to see the golden shine remain. Yuuki rifled around the contents, pulling out the miscellaneous items first; simply to let them all stew in curiosity for that much longer.
Yuuki laid out the items that they were guaranteed to sell. Things like material to upgrade certain equipment, rare items crafting guilds would pay a fortune to get their hands on, and orbs that could be inlaid in weapons to give them certain types of boosts. The things they actually cared about were the weapons and gear.
"I-is there, by chance, a spirit orb?" Sawamura inquired as he practically bounced in place. Yuuki glanced at him silently, dragging out his response to let Sawamura simmer in anticipation.
"No."
Sawamura noticeably deflated. Kuramochi threw an arm over his shoulders, "Aww, cheer up bud, there's always next time," he said with a laugh and zero sympathy.
Sawamura's pout instantly swapped to a scowl, "Says you!" And batted Kuramochi's arm away.
"What else?" Azuma nearly demanded, with a touch of impatience.
Yuuki delved back into the chest, when he straightened, he held up a set of light armor, "Furuya, these are for you," Yuuki barely had a chance to finish his sentence as Furuya practically ran up to him at the sound of his name. Unlike his haste, he delicately plucked the garment from Yuuki's hands and stared down at it with stars in his eyes. Yuuki's arms disappeared inside the chest again, this time, he pulled out a necklace that took after Kenshi in appearance. Dark in color with illuminated cracks. "Alright, who wants to roll for the necklace?"
Kuramochi, Isashiki, Kominato, Azuma, and Shirasu all raised their hands. Yuuki dug out the twelve-sided die, "Call it out," he said, then flicked the die into the air. They all shouted out a number as they watched it spin in the air and fall to the ground. It rolled a bit before finally stopping on five, "Shirasu, it's yours."
Sawamura quietly sidled up next to Kazuya, "You took a real beating back there," he said, too casual.
Kazuya smirked and dropped the now empty potion bottle, "Is this your way of showing concern for me?"
Sawamura's eyes widened, cheeks aflame, "What?! I wasn't concerned at all! In fact, I'm disappointed that you survived!" He then stomped off to suddenly inspect the miscellaneous items lined up on the ground.
