"Certainly something quite extensive; the smells are... well, I don't really know how to explain it, a mix of chemicals, fuel, all matter of things.", Mole explained. Steve and Jacques looked at each other.

"Chemical weaponry?", Steve asked as Jacques scratched his chin, "Perhaps... but they haven't used any despite everything; it's like the only rule of warfare they seem to follow...".

"They've also dug in quite deep... it would take something quite extensive of an explosion to truly destroy that place.", Mole told them.

"Well, if there's fuel... I think we can easily make some makeshift bombs with that; maybe don't have to blow it sky high but at least burn everything inside and damage the place bad will work just as well." Steve said.

Jacques glanced at Mole, "And what did you see?", and Mole replied, "I didn't see much from the most darkest spot I could be in, but I found a weird glow, not like our crystals, but there are weapons on tables, with a strange humming sound of really white-blue glowing, and my crystal reacted hot, like warning me that the glow in the weapons are really bad, like if they get destroyed, something bad would happen. And I saw two mini submersibles being built, half complete, with a third one complete, floating in a huge pool that is somehow funneled from the Moselle.".

Both of the men widened their eyes, as Mole continued, "I went to dig back down, capping the floors, and I tunneled under the base, and from I can feel and hear, probably 150 Hydra. I then passed up the base, to the basement between the base and the factory, and found vents and sewer tunnels, seeing prison cages with 400 people total; Canadians, French, Jewish, and such in two different floors, one secret basement floor for Hydra's prisoners, and the normal basement floor for Nazi's prisoners, and saw 150 Nazis, with complete/half complete tanks and normal weaponry like guns.".

"What the heck would that glow be?", Steve asked as Jacques shrugged, "Some type of en- oh, merde...". It clicked for him before it did for Steve as well.

"You don't think it's something like Atlantis?", Steve feared as Jacques shook his head, "Perhaps in theory and all; perhaps HYDRA found something regarding Atlantis, but it couldn't be directly related to the Heart.".

"And being abused by Hydra, the energy weapons are bad, like my crystal warned me by being really hot. I had to leave the boundaries of those weapons before my crystal settled down.", Mole replied.

Steve exhaled, "Then if they are bad, and if the energy is uncontrollable without a container to hold it, then perhaps with your handmade explosions and such, we can actually blow the Hydra base up high through the factory then as you wished, but we need to rescue the prisoners first...".

Jacques frowned, "And why would Hydra be building mini submersibles for? There are already U-boats in the North Sea, and in the Caribbean, even if the Navy already took care of the U-boats in the Channel and the Atlantic side of France and Spain.".

"No idea, maybe new prototypes; shrink the sub, can still be as devastating while maybe needing less crew and supplies; could slowly start turning the naval war really back into their favor.", Steve said.

"Might be a good idea if we can, somehow find a way to grab a lot of those things or at least some schematics to send back to England. See just how far HYDRA's research is coming with projects; if the Wehrmacht starts getting a lot of that stuff mass delivered... need I say more?", Jacques feared.

Steve nodded, "That I can agree with.", before a knock on their door of their meeting room was heard, and Pierre's voice called out, "Captain America, War Leader Dernier, Digger Mole, we got the Rangers! One of them named Bucky is asking for you, Captain!".

"The Bucky Barnes you told us about, Steve?", Jacques looked at Steve with a grin, and Steve chuckled, "I guess when he found out, he had to ask his group to come join up.", before calling back to Pierre, "Let him in!".

A couple of minutes later, Bucky Barnes walked in, grinning with his hearty laugh, "My brother! Come here, you!", as he made a brotherly arm grasp and a shoulder slap, and Steve chuckled, "I missed you too, Bucky. I heard that you were on a few other missions on the North Seaside of the Channel.".

"Ah, nothing but busting Nazi ports, and a bit of calling the Navy to destroy a docked U-boat. And don't worry, on the times you were on the missions, my shore leave was half complete before you even finished the missions, enabling me to check up on your wife. She was looking great two weeks ago when I left with my gang for this big mission, though she really is determined to get every little piece of good news all those five weeks you came through France for this mission...", Bucky replied.

Steve exhaled, "I never thought five weeks would feel like horrible waiting without seeing her until now...And you're sure she was fine?", and Bucky said with a raised eyebrow, "If you're asking for extra motivation to get this mission really done, and to stay focused without getting killed, sorry, no...even if she asked me to be the messenger boy...No luck on that end, Steve, even if I wanted to be an uncle...".

"It's okay, and I'm sorry that you had to be the messenger boy, Bucky...And I guess worrying for me and this war is stressful on her, which I don't blame for. Harrison and Jacques were right...It just depends on God's will...", Steve said with a side glance at Jacques, who gave him a small smile in understanding that his theory is still being tested out for the couple.

Bucky replied, "Hey, don't worry, Steve, you will get your luck sooner or later, and sure, it's annoying to be the messenger boy, but if seeing a relieved look on either of your faces, it's more than enough for me, and her message was that she loves you, and that she demands that you will give those Nazis and their lackeys the most shitty day of their lives on this mission. And let me tell you, seeing her curse like that, whoa, no wonder why she's right for you, as she's a spitfire.", with a smirk.

Steve blushed for a moment before he recomposed himself. "Well, it's nice to hear that...", he chuckled. "But I think now we've got a war to focus on.".

"Yep, word came down that we were taking out some hidden Nazi plant in the woods. Surprised they made it in France rather than say deeper into Germany.", Bucky admitted.

"Maybe the Boche thought it would cause less attention if here in France rather than Germany.", Jacques claimed. "After all, your air forces have been running a number of recon flights; any large convoys going to the middle of nowhere in Germany would draw more attention than say, in France. Hell, you could make it look like you were taking things back and forth from France to German and I'm sure your pilots and intelligence wouldn't bat much of an eye.".

Bucky glanced at Jacques and Mole, and Steve replied, "Bucky, this is Jacques Dernier, one of the few I can call as dear friends, along with Gaetean Moliere, but we call him Mole, another good friend. Jacques, Mole, this is James Buchmann Barnes.".

They both nodded as Bucky glanced over to Steve. "Taking a wild guess that you have worked with them prior to arriving to Europe?", he asked as Steve nodded, "No real secret there, yeah...".

Jacques replied, "We'll catch up on things later, but right now, we have to outline our plan of attack, and see if the other factions have some ideas to add to our plan of attack once they get here tonight or tomorrow night.".

Bucky nodded, "Right, what do you got?", and so, the trio of men showed Bucky the plan of attack, with a few crude maps of the forest and the factory that Mole figured out, and when the other two factions arrived within the early morning and the late afternoon between defining some details, they also worked on the plan, deciding to strike during the next day, during noon while the Nazis and Hydra were distracted with their lunch and switch of shifts.

Due to the fairly isolated location; attacking during the day was a better idea rather than at night where they could run the risk of friendly fire. The plan was worked out and refined a bit before all groups had their objectives and roles. Now the only real difficulty was punching a hole right through the main perimeter defenses; once inside, the resistance would be much weaker as obviously the complex was keeping most of it's guards outside.

In the early hours of the morning, Mole had snuck deep into the grounds around the factory and went to wedge explosives into slightly cracked bricks and such around the main perimeter of the factory, and stringed the cords carefully and precisely, for the cords contained explosive powder, together into one large cord in the tunnels, into a main tunnel in the forest.

Mole then appeared, glancing at Jacques, "It's not much, but it'll have to do, Jacques. You sure that you want to explode the perimeter first, and not taking the men off guard if they are shot at and stuck during reloading before getting punched in the face by the explosives?".

"We need to do whatever it takes to get in with the fewest number of causalities.", Jacques explained as Bucky and Steve returned. "What did you two see?", he asked them.

"Place is certainly on alert, though I think they're always like it. Our biggest difficulty with the defenses is a couple of pillboxes they've set up. They've got some good kill zones; we'll have to clear at least two of them that keep each other covered to open up a path.", Steve informed.

"And keep them secured because those Krauts will launch a counterattack to try and take them back; even if we fully disabled them, they'll make sure to try and close off our retreat.", Bucky added.

Mole replied, "I got an explosive under the perimeters around one pillbox, but I forgot about the other one.", and Jacques patted his shoulder, "It's okay. As long as the explosives are set around the perimeter anywhere including that pillbox, it would give more than enough for our men to get into that other pillbox and clear out more kill zones, right, guys?", looking at Bucky and Steve.

Bucky nodded, "We can handle the pillboxes, especially if we're able to outflank the rest if one is taken out completely. Of course, we'll need some of the Maquis to hold the other ones and fend off any counterattacks when we head in.".

"Yeah; the Rangers have the firepower we need to really tear that place apart inside.", Steve said. Jacques nodded, "Right, let's get back and prepare up for the attack. This is a big mission, and a big mission calls for a big day.", and the others nod in agreement.

Everyone got into position. Much of the groups stayed close though gave a wide berth just in case there may have been any mortar pits that they missed. Bucky was focused on that concrete trench that connected much of the pillboxes that covered the main entrance which was a large garage buried into the mountain; large enough for them to rollout four or five tanks side by side if they were placed against each other almost an inch apart while as tall as a three-story house.

"So, last minute before the attack; you sure about this?", Steve asked as Bucky nodded, "Yeah, once your digging friend blows some of those Kruats to the moon, and hopefully makes sure to take a pillbox with it, we charge to that point and then start sweeping the trenches and widen our way into the inner permitter around the complex itself. Then when we're secure with our way out, we head for that door and blast it open. A few bazooka rounds should blast some holes in it so we can get in and then hopefully find wherever they've got the garage opener.".

"Then it's a matter of cleaning the place out, wrecking anything we can't take and making sure to get those prisoners out. The real tricky part after we pull this off is going to be trying to get all these folks out of occupied France and back to England.", Steve bit his lip at the thought.

"We'll be able to handle that.", Jacques assured him. "It'll be slow, but we'll find ways to get them back safely.". He then checked his watch as he looked over to Mole, "Well... whenever you're ready.".

"Just like you taught me, right? Two hands on the crank, and time it to your signal, eh?", Mole grinned, and Jacques nodded, "That's right.", before Mole then dug into his hole, heading to the hidden cavern tunnel, and surfaced, using his unique specifications goggles to watch for Jacques' signal as he waited a moment.

After last-minute signals that they are all in position, Jacques then signaled Mole, and with a deep breath as Mole counted to three, he placed his hands, and pushed the crank down, igniting the cords of explosive powder to the hidden explosives, and right at noon too.

The blast was terrific as Mole had done a damn good job with things. Suddenly, the whole complex was in complete confusion about what was happening. An attack? This far out? Troops were moving to secure their defensive positions when the combined Ranger/Maquis force launched their attack and charged forward through the gap in the defensive line.

"Come on, move!", Jacques shouted. "Get into those trenches, don't give those machine gunners a chance to get us!". Everyone moved fast as they could as they took small arms fire from whatever troops were in position but just in the nick of time reached outside the kill zones of the two supporting bunkers before many of them got into the trench.

"Okay, Rangers, let's lead the way!", Bucky called out as they headed towards the bunker down the trench that was towards the direction of the entrance. Several Maquis went for the one in the other direction.

It was chaos everywhere as everyone was firing with every weapon they got, the Maquis in several scattered groups of each faction, Rangers in two rows, with one row ducking and reloading as the other row fired, watching their back, and as for Jacques and Steve, it was a circle of them firing and such, with Steve's shield whipping out and snapping many heads out, watching each other's back as they stood back to back, while Mole dug again, making it under the garage, breaching just under a tank, while the Nazis and random Hydra was distracted, running and shouting orders, never noticing Mole plant one of Jacques' handmade explosives, and digging again to the rest of the tanks, for the garage door is far heavier and slower to get up than a shed garage door, thanks to the size to fit the tanks and all.

"Cleared!", Bucky shouted for the third time as they cleared out a third pillbox; things were going fairly well. Casualties were light, one of the Rangers took a round to his leg and was having to hold one of the bunkers while four Maquis had been hit with two being fatally shot. So far; probably a bit better than expected. Plus, the German response was actually pretty sluggish; they probably were still so stunned by the attack as well as the units fought more like merely rear echelon units, subpar quality when fighting in frontline combat.

"Steve, looks like Bucky's reached the door.", Jacques pointed out as Steve nodded, "Right, let's try to get inside and see what we can break...". He then glanced around, "Wait, where the hell is Mole?".

Jacques replied, "I don't know!", as the huge garage door began to open, and Steve then saw Mole under another tank, and widened his eyes in shock and horror as he realized what Mole was doing, and screamed, "Bucky, run!".

Bucky heard Steve, and was confused before seeing the tanks, which is four across, yet not fully front, as only two, one on the far left, and one in the middle is fully front, with the other two tanks still rolling into position, is the tanks exploding from beneath, only 10 seconds apart from each one.

Bucky shouted, "Back, back, Rangers! Move to the sides!", as he turned around and barely managed to avoid the nearest exploding tank, with the other Rangers ahead of him, but narrowly as he screamed in pain, shrapnel mangling his left arm and side, collapsing as he clenched into his worst injury.

Jacques screamed out, "Use the damaged tanks as cover while you fire back at the bastards! Steve, go, help the others, and give them shit! I got him, we will be right behind you soon enough!", as they saw through the silvers of view between the tanks is some prisoners running to grab guns off dead Nazis and Hydra near the explosions, and went to shoot the rest of the Nazis and Hydra on the factory floor, from the window patrols of the factory, with the enraged Rangers, having seen their leader go down, and the Marquis climbing into the wrecked tanks and they went between the tanks to assist the prisoners who was clearly under force of working on Nazis stuff today, "And Mole, tunnel under the Hydra base, to place the rest of the explosives, but do not detonate them until we're clear out, understand?!", glaring at him as he ran to Bucky, upset that Mole didn't warn them about the incoming tanks, but realized that he couldn't be in two places at once.
