Once they were sure they were safely away, the Heroes left the Lucky Dragon, flying toward the Oki Mariner and Rainy Season. It was a very quiet flight. They arrived to find the coast guard already there, arresting the villains. Ochako simply said that the Lucky Dragon had a broken radio and jumped onto the Rainy Season. Curious, Tsu followed her.

On the deck Ochako pulled out her phone and dialed. "Hey Midori!" she said in a faux-cheerful voice. "I was just calling to say hi, catch up, ask why the hell you didn't tell me the Safe Zone was breached!"

Ochako rolled her eyes at something the other person said. "Oh you know, went on patrol, met a dumping run, had goddamn Godzilla nearly nuke the boat I was on! Yeah, I'm upset! Really?! That's what you're…ok fair enough. The coordinates were-"

Tsu crawled up to the deck to give the Coast Guard her statement. This was obviously a private conversation.

As she did, she noted that while it looked like Ochako wasn't a former secret agent, member of a shady government group was at least close.

Izuku looked at the coordinates Ochako had specified on his map. "Are you sure?!"

"Yeah, why?" said Ochako.

"That's well beyond where we expected him to be. Thanks for telling me Ochako. I'll give this to Kenji right away!"

"Your welcome, it's faster this way than letting it to pass through the bureaucracy. But you didn't answer my question, why didn't you tell me?"

Izuku scratched his cheek, "Honestly? I didn't even think to."

"Why not?! I'd have thought after everything we've been through together I had a right to know! Was it classified or something?"

"No, it's not that. Things have been pretty chaotic around here since he got through and we've all been scrambling to find him. Besides, what good would telling you do? You're a Hero now. You fight villains, not monsters. Aren't villains enough to worry about?

"Maybe," Ochako said, "But it'd be nice to know beforehand when the King of the Monsters himself is loose within the Safe Zone, if only so we can prepare. After all, disaster relief is my job too and you know better than anyone what he can do to a populated area."

Izuku sighed. "You're right. I'm sorry for not telling you," he said. "If he seems to be heading toward any big cities, I'll let you know. Until then we'll do our best to find him and lure him out before anything happens."

"Good luck Midori," Ochako said.

"You too." He ended the call.

That could have gone better. Then again, it also could have gone a lot worse. At the very least he now had an idea where Godzilla had been within the last hour.

He texted the information to Kenji. Minutes later his phone dinged.

Kenji: Are you sure?! That's WAY too deep.

Izuku: That's where Ochako said. According to her she met the dumping run there. Did we have one in that area?

Kenji: Yes we did. I'm going to wait for the official report, but for now we should assume he's there. FYI Kamacuras crossed over yesterday.

Me: Noted. Any luck finding Godzilla with your powers?

Kenji: Sorry, telepathy isn't a GPS. I can sense him, but that doesn't tell me where he is. He doesn't seem to be going anywhere in particular so far, but…

Kenji: This could go bad, couldn't it?

Izuku: Yes.

If Godzilla attacked a populated area, they would they have to deal with the obvious problems that brought, devastation, mass casualties and radiation. That alone would be catastrophic.

On top of that, they'd also have to deal with Heroes who weren't used to kaiju. Outside the Safe Zone, most of the locals and Heroes were familiar enough with kaiju to know what to do when one came, and to let the AMF handle any fighting.

Inside however, they'd have all the problems that occurred when operating on the mainland. Clashes over jurisdiction, Heroes recklessly attacking (and losing), and people with no idea what was happening. It was bad enough with Class 3 kaiju like Gargantua's, but when the kaiju attacking was Godzilla

Izuku shuddered. Then he texted Kenji.

Izuku: VERY bad.

Kenji Saegusa stared at the location Izuku had given him. His lips pursed as he tried to make sense of it.

How could he have gotten that deep in? He'd been swimming parallel to the Beacons when they went down. The only explanation would be him suddenly making a beeline for the border the moment the they went down!

Not for the first time, Kenji wished he was like his grandmother. She'd have figured this out, nobody knew Godzilla better than her. But he wasn't her.

Still, he had her powers. He could try and replicate her connection. Kenji closed his laptop and took a deep breath in. He let a long breath out. He took a deep breath in. Let a long breath out. In and out. In and out. Kenji's body relaxed as his mind reached out.

He sensed the one he'd became all too familiar with in recent years. Anger, pain, contentment, satisfaction. All these were in the creature's mind at the moment. Kenji looked deeper, trying to see some plan, some purpose in its movements. He found none.

Probing deeper, Kenji turned his attention to trying to learn why he'd crossed the border so fast. He couldn't sense the beacons, so what had prompted it? He tried jogging the creature's memory, to find out what had enticed it so. Remember when you moved? He whispered to the mind. What was it like? Why did we turn? He nudged the mind, trying to get it to respond.

There was a spike of awareness as the creature noticed Kenji's intrusion. Before Kenji could leave, he was engulfed by a wave of pain.

Kenji was thrown out of Godzilla's mind with a scream.

He clutched his head, waiting for the pain to fade. He'd been too obvious with his prompting, too slow to get out once he'd been discovered. He'd have to be subtler next time. And to remember, only Grandma Miki had been given permission to enter Godzilla's mind. And he wasn't Grandma Miki.

As he sat there, he wondered once again. What caused Godzilla to cross the border?

"Lord Re-Destro!" said one of Yotsubashi's subordinates.

Yotsubashi smiled. "Yes?"

"The weapons shipment was seized as planned. However, our other shipment of parts and support gear successfully cleared customs. Should it end up in the hands of villains, it will seem to be from the overseas black market."

Yotsubashi smiled, "Exellent! And the buyer who "made a deal"?"

"Released without jail time and entered into a rehabilitation program run by our proxies."

"Good," said Yotsubashi. "He can still help our cause."

"Yes, Re-Destro." The subordinate bowed and exited the room.

Once he was gone, Yotsubashi realized how tired he was. Running a multi-billion-dollar corporation and a secret revolutionary army was a lot of work! He decided to spend the next hour planning before going home to get some much-needed rest.

That shipment would soon grant Liberation Army tech to minor villains. The board was slowly but surely being set. Yotsubashi had already almost unleashed his army once. Ten years ago, when All Might retired after killing All for One. In the end, he waited. The army wasn't ready then.

They needed more strength, and more importantly, more unease. All Might may have been gone, but so was All for One. With him dead, and his League captured, there wasn't enough fear to stoke a proper revolution. Since then, the Heroes had fought valiantly to plug the hole left by All Might's retirement.

But the cracks were showing. Crime wasn't as low as it used to be. Destro's book was selling like wildfire. A single spark was all they needed.

Perhaps Godzilla's death would be that spark.

That creature had destroyed the ship he'd sent, just as his "associates" predicted. And, if their little machine worked, he would soon raid a major metropolitan area, giving the Heroes a chance vanquish the once mighty dragon with their meta abilities.

Yotsubashi had first heard of the creature from his elders when he was a boy. A powerful animal feared by many. One so strong that even the early meta abilities couldn't vanquish him. But now? A mere animal could be no match for the power wielded by the fighters of today.

However, should he stay in the sea, it would be fine. Re-Destro's plans were advancing just fine without it.

Frankly, even if the Heroes failed and the army put it down, it would still show the flaws of the Hero system, and the need of the citizenry to be liberated. After all, maybe the Heroes could have prevailed if they'd had some backup? Maybe the people of Japan could be that backup? Yes, that was what he'd say should that occur.

Re-Destro grinned. He'd accounted for every possibility. Either the status-quo continued, or the "Anti-Megalosaurus Force" was discredited and Godzilla killed. Either way, the Meta Liberation Army wins.

Dr. Mifune walked toward the warehouse.

According to X, all of the devices would be finished today. As insufferable as that boy could be, Mifune had to admit he got results. His engineering skills had been essential to realizing Mifune's discoveries, creating the engine of his vengeance.

If only he'd been there when-

Mifune shook his head and continued to the warehouse. As he was about to enter, he stopped. He heard voices!

No! Nobody must be allowed to interfere with our work!

He rushed inside to find a dozen people inside, loading their machines into trucks. They musn't! He needed those!

"Relax Doctor."

Mifune turned to see X speaking with one of the intruders.

Mifune stormed up to him. "What is the meaning of this?!" he said. "We agreed to only give our "partners" one!"

"Not to worry Doctor," said X with that smug look he tended to have. The look of a student who thought he was too smart for his class. "These people aren't with the MLA. They're…friends of mine. They're taking our inventions to a secure location for safe keeping. That way we won't lose them if this place is discovered."

"Why wasn't I told of this?!" said Mifune, stalking up to him.

X waved his hand. "I didn't think it was important, I did say I'd take care of hiding them. I thought that was enough. Don't worry, I trust my associates completely. Our invention will be safe with them."

Mifune glanced at the black haired strangers stoically loading Mifune and X's machines. He turned to X with a fierce stare. "We're supposed to be partners. I demand to be kept in the loop on such matters."

X sighed. "Fine, I apologize for the miscommunication," he said, sounding every bit as sincere as someone running for public office. "Next time I do something important I'll fill you in on the details."

Mifune nodded. "Very well. And the one we are giving to the MLA?"

X walked over to one of them and tapped it. "Finished and ready. All we gotta do is plant it and press the button."

Mifune nodded, a twisted smile coming to his lips. "Good."

How long he's waited for this moment. They scorned him, shut down his funding, told him that his work was long since unnecessary. They would see their folly when the work they'd scorned rained fire down on them.

He could almost hear their screams…

After they returned to the Rainy Season, Ochako had explained to Nejire and Tsu what had almost attacked them.

Nejire probably should have asked more questions, but the idea of a nuclear-powered dinosaur stunned even her into silence. Beyond making her claim in elementary school that dinosaurs lived 2 million years ago accidentally accurate, this revelation explained so much about Ochako.

Her fearlessness, her hints of prior experience, they all came from fighting this "Godzilla"! After all, what was even a fifteen-meter villain to fifty-meter dinosaur?

The only remaining mystery around Ochako was her terrible choice in merchandise (seriously, who was a hoodie based on her costume with "sweatshirt" written on the front even for?), but that could just be bad taste.

Nejire wondered how terrible this Godzilla must have been. Given how his very presence had spooked Ochako, she'd wager it was probably really bad.

Speaking of Ochako, after telling them about this monster she'd walked to the railing and not said a word since. Nejire gave her some space, hoping she was Ok.

Ochako watched the ocean pass by. The sun was shining, the seagulls chirping, and Godzilla was in the Safe Zone.

This was a scenario that had been unthinkable in her days with G-Force. The border was their top priority. No matter what, Godzilla was not to get through under any circumstance. If he did, thousands if not millions could die. And yet, now it happened. After over half a century he was inside.

Could they get him back out before countless died? Or would Godzilla remind the world why he was called King of the Monsters? She hoped it was the first. She really did.

But if it didn't, what should she do?

She had fought Godzilla multiple times, become used to him. Sure, he scared her, but she'd never let that get in the way of her duty. In ever battle, she'd always known exactly what she would do. She was a maser driver. She drove from cover to cover while Midori fired on him. She'd avoid being seen, and dodge when needed.

Yet now she was a Hero. Her job was against villains and natural disasters, not kaiju. So, what could she do?

Fight? No. Godzilla couldn't be beaten through brute force, not without power on par with All Might (at least). And even that was no guarantee. Godzilla had to be redirected, lured the way you wanted him to go. And that was the job of Izuku and the AMF.

If they wanted her help she would fight for them, but no one else. She refused to fight under anyone who wasn't familiar with Godzilla. Not even a skilled strategist like Kendo or Creati.

But since the AMF was unlikely to ask for her help, what else could she do?

Easy. She was a Rescue Hero. She routinely worked in disaster areas to save trapped and injured civilians. And what was Godzilla but a walking natural/nuclear disaster?

Ochako clenched her fist. Her duty as a Hero was to save people. That is what she would do. She was the Zero Gravity Hero. She would swoop save those caught in his wake and help get them to safety. No matter the cost.

The plot thickens! (Poor Re-Destro. He's in for a very unpleasant surprise)
