The Eighth Battle of Tokyo Finally begins! Enjoy!
Re-Destro filled his glass with some of his finest champagne. "A toast?" he said to his devoted followers. "To the end of the AMF, and to those accursed relics they fight! And a new beginning, to the age of Meta liberation!"
They raised their glasses. "Meta liberation!"
Re-Destro sipped his drink as he watched the news footage, ready for the show to truly begin.
In a crowded bar far away from Tokyo, two individuals, a young man and an older gentleman, sat watching the television.
"Won't be long now," said X, his unblinking eyes fixed on the news broadcast.
"Indeed," said Mifune. "I hope he destroys my former university."
X grinned. "I hope he hits the Diet building again.
They ordered their drinks and waited.
Near the middle of town, in Shinjuku the military had set up their primary command post. In the command tent, a woman in her mid-thirties dressed in formal clothing stood among the soldiers with a stoic expression.
"Excuse me miss," one of the soldiers said. "May I ask what you're doing here?"
The woman showed him her badge. "Hiromi Ogashira. Anti-Megalosaurus Force analysis division. I'm here to observe."
"Here to watch us kill that thing for you?" another soldier said.
Ogashira gave him a cold stare. "No."
"Sir!" A comm operator said. "Our ships have detected him entering the bay!"
The commander nodded. "Engage!"
Ogashira tightened her jaw. It's begun.
"Target locked on. Fire!"
Several destroyers opened fire on the spines, sending a rain of artillery on them. The sea was filled with splashes, as shell after shell detonated on or around the spines.
The spines didn't even slow down.
As the spines passed a destroyer near the front, the Arashi, a massive tail erupted from the water. It hung in the air before falling onto the Arashi's bow, smashing its main gun and leaving a large dent in the deck. The tail slid back into the water, nearly pulling the Arashi down with it. Finally, the tail slipped off, leaving the Arashi rocking from side to side as the spines moved on.
As the rest of the fleet maintained their bombardment, the spines dove under the water.
"Haha!" said one of the minor Heroes on the shore. "He's trying to hide!"
The ships fired depth charges, sending plumes of water shooting up. They'd thought the thing might sneak passed the fleet. However, it seems the creature was not so lucky. Instead it faced a full bombardment. Nothing could survive that!
The Hero watched the explosions draw close to one of the ships before stopping. It was trying to hide beneath one of the ships.
"Let's go," one of the Hero's teammates said. "Nothing for us to do here."
The Heroes turned around. Meanwhile beneath the ship the monster had hidden under, the water began to glow blue.
"He's stopped just beneath us," A sonar operator said said. "Now he's-" The operator gasped. "No! He's about to-!"
A massive explosion erupted from the fleet. The Heroes turned around to see the ship the monster had hidden under lifting out of the water as a massive fireball blasted from its center.
Only it wasn't the explosion lifting it.
A dark mass had risen from beneath the ship, snapping it in half. The two halves fell into the sea with a heavy splash while the monster continued to rise until its entire upper half was sticking out of the water. Its eyes glowed red from the fire surround it, glaring at the rest of the fleet.
The ships continued firing, but the beast didn't even flinch. Instead it let out a defiant roar that sent a shudder through the Heroes.
"L-let's go," The minor Hero said. "We…we should get to our stations."
His companions nodded and hurried away. However, the minor Hero briefly turned back. He wasn't sure, but he could have sworn the monster's back began to flash blue.
"The Aka has been destroyed!" the comm operator said.
"Destroyed? Impossible!" said the commander. Once the beast was within their sights, the battle should have been over! "What's going on out there?!"
"Several ships report that the rose from under the Aka and broke it in two. Now-" The comm operator stopped. He ripped his headphones off with a look of utter horror.
The commander leaned in. He heard screaming.
The radio operator shakily put the headphones back on and listened. "…The fleet. It's gone. Only the Arashi's left…"
"Impossible…" the commander said. How …no matter. This was out of his hands. It was the Heroes' fight now.
The President of the Hero Public Safety Commission sat down in her high-rise office, watching out its reinforced window. She wore her usual business attire, with her best red dress-shirt underneath a recently pressed suit jacket.
She could now see a thin wake as the animal, Godzilla, approached the shoreline. She wondered how it had destroyed the fleet. Probably incompetence on the Navy's part.
Soon Godzilla would land.
"Finally."
They'd supplied their best Heroes, even getting Endeavor out of retirement. The president even went to the trouble of recruiting some low-level Villains with useful quirks in exchange for reduced sentencing. The beast had no chance.
The Heroes would be seen as stronger than ever, while the AMF would finally be seen as the obsolete relics that they were. Their resourced would be stripped away and given to more worthy parties, like the Heroes.
The relics of the Dawn would be swept away, while the Heroes would lead society in a new day of peace.
"Hurry up assholes! We ain't got all day!" said Katsuki, rocketing forward.
"Look who's talking!" Bunny Bitch, AKA Mirko said as she hopped in front of him. Katsuki grit his teeth. He admired Mirko as a kindred spirit, but damn did she get on his nerves. She shouldn't even be on this assignment! She was just here because she refused to be left out!
Is this how other people feel about me? How the hell do they stand me?!
No matter, Bunny Bitch was still a great Hero, with amazing mobility and one mean kick. She'd be a useful asset.
"Now's not the time for arguing!" Ponytail said over the comms. "Godzilla has made landfall in Shinegawa!"
"We're not arguing! We're bantering!" said Katsuki.
"Yeah! Lay off mom!" Bunny Bitch said.
While Ponytail muttered something he couldn't make out, Katsuki glanced back at the rest of the vanguard. The ones with mobility quirks helped carry the ones without, allowing the team to rush toward the landing site. They were the Heroes' main line of defense.
"All Might, how are evacuations?"
"Evacuations are going well Young Yaoyorozu. The area was already mostly cleared, and the Heroes there are almost done finishing the job. We're clearing the surrounding areas as we speak."
"Good!"
Ponytail was the best strategist of the group, so it only made sense she'd be in charge. Katsuki usually chafed under someone else's command, but she'd earned his respect. He'd listen.
Katsuki smirked as he rocketed forward. Alright you dinosaur bastard. Get ready to go extinct.
Taneo Tokuda stood in awe as an enormous beast took its first step onto the docks, looking like it stepped out of a bygone era. The ground shook as the creature's foot slammed into the ground. Water poured from the monster's hide, washing past Taneo's feet.
Taneo craned his neck to get a good shot at its head. The monster was bigger than Taneo thought it would be, much bigger.
Using his quirk, Taneo took as many pictures as he could while several Heroes tried in vain to attack it. The monster didn't even seem to notice them.
The monster lifted its foot, moving it in Taneo's direction.
Shit.
Taneo sprinted into a nearby store, and ducked down. The monster's foot landed nearby, causing the ground to vibrate. Taneo started taking pictures, before noticing the other foot heading toward him.
As he threw himself to the ground and printed what pictures he could, Tokuda couldn't help but wonder if this was the end. Well, if it is, this'll make one hell of an obituary!
"Haha! Yes!" Hachi buzzed with excitement as he zipped through the abandoned store, grabbing valuables to his heart's content. Staying behind was the best decision he ever made! Hachi grabbed a TV from the shelf, not even caring as another fell to the ground.
Haha! No Heroes beating Hachi up! Nothing can ruin this moment! Buzz! Buzz!
The ground shook. Hachi stopped buzzing.
It shook again.
A series of booms came from outside, each in perfect tandem with the tremors. Hachi slowly turned around. His jaw dropped at the sight of a giant freaking dinosaur walking down the street right toward him!
It was enormous, charcoal gray, with thick column like legs, muscular arms, and savage-looking claws. It's face vaguely resembled a wolf, with two yellow eyes glaring directly ahead. The creature's claws scraped against the side of a nearby building, sending rubble raining to the ground.
Hachi stared in horror as it got closer.
Closer…
At the last moment, the monster turned, shearing a corner off of a building. It went down the street, past the store Hachi was in.
He was safe!
"Yes!" Hachi said pumping his hands in the air. "Hachi wins! Nothing can ruin this-"
He noticed the tail swinging at him.
"Oh fu-"
"Group A, set the rest of us down here! Then begin Phase 1!"
"Got it!"
Momo was set down alongside several other Heroes, including Pony Tsunotori (who Momo hadn't even realized was visiting Japan until today), Majestic, Best Jeanist, Mt. Lady, those two additions from the HPSC, and others.
Speaking of Momo kept a close eye on the new recruits in case they run, but they fortunately seemed two excited for a fight to consider it. One was shirtless, with brown hair that covered his eyes. The other had a thin body with a bulbous shark head. They would be vital if all else failed.
While HPSC had failed to provide either with a proper costume, they'd both been fine with it as long as they fought the monster (though Momo wasn't quite sure they understood what radioactivity was).
Momo watched the vanguard racing into battle and unzipped her hazmat suit to prepare for Phase 2.
Katsuki felt himself work up a sweat, his explosions growing stronger with each passing moment. "LET'S KILL THAT BASTARD!"
"HELL YEAH!" said Mirko.
"Take it easy you two!" said Best Jeanist. "Now's not the time to be carried away. We need to keep a tight weave and-"
A building collapsed up ahead, kicking up a cloud of dust. A large tail swished out of the cloud, followed by three rows of spines. Slowly, a large shadow vaguely shaped like a bell became visible. It emerged from the cloud and roared.
"Holy shit, that thing's huge!" Hawks said.
Katsuki had to admit, it was pretty big. No matter. He'd kick its ass. "Let's go!"
Katsuki and Bunny Bitch were the first to attack. Katsuki rocketed himself upward, blasting up to Godzilla's shoulder and raking it with several small blasts. After finishing his attack, Katsuki looked back.
Damn. No visible damage. Down below, Bunny Bitch was kicking the beast's feet and ankles, but the bastard didn't even flinch.
The bastard lizard looked down at the two, noticing them in the manner one notices a couple of mosquitos.
Hey, we're a lot worse than bugs you son of a bitch!
Godzilla waved its hand to swat at Katsuki. Katsuki blasted away from the attack and landed on a nearby roof. Godzilla raised a foot to squish Bunn Bitch, but she crossed the street in one hop, easily avoiding the asshole's stomp.
Godzilla continued down the street. He made it two steps before Half'n'Half unleashed a glacier, trapping the bastard up to its waist. Katsuki saw Endeavor blasting his way up toward the head. Katsuki grinned and did the same.
Endeavor unleashed a wall of flames onto the bastard's left side, far hotter than he'd dare use against a normal Villain. Godzilla's plowed right through the flames, and slashed at him. Endeavor dodged easily, while Katsuki prepared to blast its head.
"Dynamight, look out!"
Behind Katsuki, the dinosaur swung its tail at him.. Katsuki blasted himself out of the way. Child's play. As he circled back around, he yelled, "HA! Is that all you got!"
Half'n'Half propelled himself upward along the glacier. He raised his right hand to send a final wall of ice to freeze the dino completely. However, the creature raised its claw and brought it down on the ice, shattering it. Half'n'Half barely blasted himself away with his fire before another blow smashed the spot he'd just been on. By the third blow, the monster was completely free.
Katsuki grimaced and flew around Godzilla's body, unleashing explosion after explosion. Half'n'Half changed strategies, opting to send a massive wall of blue flames at the bastard's stomach, but it didn't seem to notice. Kamui Woods wrapped the monster's leg in his Lacquered Chain Prison, but the monster snapped it like twigs.
"Edgeshot!" Kamui Woods said. Katsuki saw a small streak in the corner of his eye. Said streak rammed the monster before bouncing off. The thin streak became Edgeshot. "No good! His skin's too tough!"
"My feathers can't pierce its eyes either!" said Hawks, sending sharpened feather after sharpened feather into the thing's face. Meanwhile, Katsuki's endless explosions across the monster's body left only soot.
What is this thing made of?!
"Dynamight!" Endeavor said over the comms, "Our attacks aren't working. We're pulling back for Phase 2!"
Katsuki growled but obeyed, retreating with the others.
"We're pulling back to your location Creati!"
"Understood! We're ready." Momo checked the preparations one last time as she zipped up her costume. Everything was in place.
She and the rest the vanguard waited, listening to the approaching footsteps. The tremors, originally only enough to stir a puddle, grew stronger, until each one sent a jolt up Momo's legs.
Team 1 returned, quickly taking up defensive positions with the other Heroes. Momo watched the corner they'd rounded, waiting for the creature's head to emerge. She saw movement, but it wasn't its head. It was its chest.
Momo slowly looked up to its actual head, which glared outward like Bakugo whenever he had to deal with other people.
It was bigger than she'd expected. Sure she'd read its height on paper, but there was big a difference between that and seeing it firsthand.
Momo steeled her expression. "Launch counter attack!"
A series of massive cloth cables, provided by the HPSC in one of their few useful contributions, wrapped around the monster's legs, courtesy of Best Jeanist. At the same time, Todoroki froze Godzilla's legs up to his ankles and then trapped its forearm on the side of a building.
"Administer the sedative!" Momo said.
One of the small canisters she'd made was thrown into Godzilla's mouth by one of Hawsk' feathers. However, the creature's thrashing led it to hit a building, send a spray of debris that shattered the canister. Unfortunate, however that gave Hawks the opening to fly another toward Godzilla's arm, this one with a needle on the front.
His skin is thick, but that diamond tipped needle should-
Hawks swung the canister down. The tip snapped off.
-shatter on impact apparently.
Godzilla ripped his arm free, tearing a decent chunk of building with it. Todoroki sent a wave of fire, but Godzilla bowled through it.
Momo rallied the other Heroes, directing them to her next contingency.
While Bakugo set off explosions on Godzilla's throat, Todoroki and his father went for its face.
"Prominence Burn!"
They both unleashed a beam of heat and flame at Godzilla, hitting its face dead center with a blast that could destroy a small building.
Godzilla didn't even flinch.
Instead it glared before breaking its ankles free and lunging at them, teeth first.
Momo took a moment to collect herself. It…it withstood Prominence Burn?! Impossible…
The two avoided its first bite, leaping away as Godzilla chomped a good-sized piece out of the building they'd ben on. It spat the rubble out and moved to bite at them again, but was cut off by Momo and the others sending a barrage of artillery shells into its face, courtesy of the Howitzers she had created.
Momo expected the creature to rear back, to flinch, or at least close its eyes. Instead it froze. Then, even as they continued firing, slowly turned to look at them with what almost looked like confusion. Or pity.
"It's not working! What do we do Creati?"
As Momo was about reply, the monster…turned away? The reason for this action quickly became obvious, as the monster's tail careened into the side of a tall building, wiping out an entire floor and sending said building falling toward them!
"Scatter!"
The Heroes ran for it. Majestic used his air platforms to lift several Heroes away, while Tsunotori used her horns to save herself and several others, Momo included. Momo looked back as the building slammed into the empty street, crushing the Howitzers.
We all made it. She looked back toward Godzilla. It didn't even flinch…
Momo turned to the other Heroes. "Phase 2 is a failure. Now on to Phase 3!"
She turned to Mt. Lady and the two the Commission had sent to join her. She was about to give them the go ahead when she heard a series of explosions.
Momo turned and saw Bakugo blasting right toward Godzilla's face.
She realized what he was about to do.
Alright Izuku, you said I was outmatched huh? I'll give you this, your damn monster is more durable than my explosions. It's skin can even withstand Endeavor and Half'n'Half! But what about all my power concentrated like a lance on one of its softer spots?
Katsuki snarled.
More specifically, what happens when I unleash all that power on its eye?
This was a gamble. The Prominence Burn was easily on par with Katsuki's strongest attacks. Even from several meters away, Katsuki had felt the heat of that attack through his suit. However, he was confident this would work.
Provided he hit his intended target.
Katsuki flew at Godzilla, spinning through the air, building up momentum and creating a small twister around himself. This was it! The bastard barely even paid attention to him. Big mistake! Katsuki grabbed the pins on his gauntlets.
"Howitzer-"
He pulled them.
"IMPACT!"
Katsuki unleashed a massive explosion right into Godzilla's eyeball, the miniature twister taking that fire and further concentrating it. The explosion was so strong it sent Katsuki flying backwards, a gift of Newton's third law. Katsuki landed on a roof and looked up with a smirk to survey the damage.
His jaw dropped.
There was Godzilla's large yellow eye, completely unharmed. The monster hadn't even closed it!
That was his strongest attack, right to its eye. And it hadn't even closed it…
As Katsuki stood frozen, the creature's massive pupil slowly swiveled around, until it was locked dead. On. Him.
Congratulations Katsuki! You now have Godzilla's attention!
Godzilla when they hit him with the Howitzers: "Wait what? What are they doing? Those guns are so small. And they're not even trying to move them? I haven't I destroyed all their good stuff have I?
Hope you enjoyed! This was their first taste of fighting Godzilla and they're starting to realized they're outmatched. Next chapter that point is going to be made a bit more...forceful. (Also wow, he must be in a REALLY good mood to be in Tokyo again. Sure hope no one ticks him off!)
Someone pointed out how Katsuki's attack had to remind Godzilla of Izuku, which made me think of this:
Katsuki: Can it withstand me unleashing an explosion in its eye?
Izuku Shoots-Godzilla-in-the-eye-on-a-regular-basis-for-six years Midoriya: YES!
