Hey there everyone. This is a first for me, but here's my Kung Fu Panda story. Here's there first chapter of Kung Fu Panda: The Legend of Bao. Enjoy.

It was a rather peaceful afternoon in the Valley of Peace. At the noodle shop, Po's dads, Ping and Li, were serving several customers.

"Here you go, one order steamed buns," Ping placed a small bowl of steamed buns in front of the customer, though their face had been hidden by the hood that they were wearing.

"Ping, do you know when Po's supposed to get here?" the older panda asked the goose.

"He's doing some training with Zhen at the Jade Palace. He should be here by closing time," Ping replied, he then turned to the hooded customer, "Here's your—" he started to say, only for the customer to gone, an empty bowl and several coins on the table instead, "…bill"

The figure from earlier hopped across the rooftops, unseen from anyone below. The figure then climbed a mountaintop, ascending the stairs and reaching his destination with ease.

"The Jade Palace..." the figure muttered.

The figure was red fox that wore a sleeveless black tunic with yellow trims and grey trousers. On his forearms were black bracers. The only visible things were his blue eyes and orange fur, the rest of his face hidden by the mask over his mouth and hood, as well as his bushy fox tail.

"He's gotta be around here somewhere..." the fox said to himself.

The fox raised his arm, blocking a kick to his head. He turned to see a female gray fox land several feet away from him.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" the female fox asked.

"Doesn't matter who I am. I'm here to see the Dragon Warrior," the red fox said.

"You're looking at her," the female fox said, getting into a fighting stance.

"You? No, the Dragon Warrior is supposed to be a panda," the red fox replied.

"Yeah, well, the title got passed down to me," the female fox answered.

"And you are?" the red fox asked.

"Name's Zhen. Now who are you?" she asked right back.

"I'm Bao Shi," he replied.

"Ok, Bao Shi, what do you want with—Oof!" Zhen was about to ask, only to be cut off by a flying kick to the stomach, sending her flying into the pillar behind her, "What's the big idea?" she growled.

When she looked up, she saw Bao Shi was gone. That's when she felt a blow to the jaw, causing her to tumble back a bit. She saw Bao Shi leaning against a pillar with his arms folded.

"Let's see if you're good enough for that "Dragon Warrior" title," the red fox extended a hand and motioned for her to bring it.

Zhen growled and charged.

Bao Shi ran up the pillar, Zhen following close behind. Bao Shi leaped of that pillar to one over, quickly rebounding off that one the moment Zhen leaped off the previous one. The two foxes clashed in midair, throwing and blocking a series of punches and kicks at each other. The clash ended with the two foxes throwing punches to each other's jaws.

They landed several feet from each other before charging. They dodged each other's swings before catching each other's hands, their fingers interlocking. Bao Shi did a flip, kicking Zhen under her chin. With a few backward handsprings, the red fox grabbed a large blade that was lying on a pedestal and tossed it at the female fox.

Zhen countered by catching the flat end of the sword, blowing a kiss at her reflection as she spun it around before tossing it to the ground beside her. However, she looked back and saw he had vanished again.

"Where did—" Zhen paused. Her face heated up as she felt a breeze beneath her… her pants down around her ankles.

She was about to shriek in embarrassment, only for an arm to wrap around her neck from behind. She then felt the cold sharpness of a blade press dangerously against her throat. A kunai.

"Nice panties," Bao Shi teased, making her blush even harder. He then leaned in and whispered, "Nothing about you screams "dragon" or "warrior"," mockingly, "Now, where's the panda?" he asked.

"What do you want with Po?" Zhen asked.

Bao Shi lowered his mask and hood, "I need him to join me on a mission. It's important" he replied, releasing her.

The female fox eyes him warily for a moment before she lets up, "Alright, follow me," she said, pulling her pants back up, "But just know I'm watching you" she says as she does the "I'm watching you" gesture.

"Back at ya," he replied before following her.

Far away in another village, several villagers cowered in fear, buildings and roads damaged. A number of guards lay unconscious at the steps of the village temple. The next thing anyone knew, a male deer flew out of the temple, skidding face first across the ground. The deer stood up shakily, spitting up blood while doing so.

Then out stepped a lone figure. The figure walked down the steps, revealing to be male Eurasian lynx.

"Honestly, I'd expect better from the great Master Buck," the lynx said while approaching the deer, "You have fallen, just like the others before you. None shall oppose my strength," he said, a spark of electricity surging through his green irises.

"You will not prevail, Quan Li. Your arrogance shall be your downfall," Master Buck said, spitting out more blood, "There is still one out there. The one with the power to defeat you. Even if you destroy this body, someone else shall rise up to—"

Master Buck was cut off mid-speech by Quan Li swinging his arm. There were two thuds. One was Master Buck's body hitting the ground… the other was his decapitated head. Everyone looked and saw the blade made of lightning protruding from between Quan Li's knuckles.

"That's enough out of you…" the lynx muttered, "Now… anyone else want to challenge me?" he asked all the villagers, holding up his blade.

Po sat under the peach tree, meditating with his staff resting against it.

"Inner peace… Inner peace… Inner peace…" he repeated.

"Po," Zhen spoke, interrupting him.

"Yeah, Zhen?" Po replied, opening a single eye.

"This guy wants to talk to you," the female fox pointed a thumb at the red fox beside her.

"Oh, hey, what's up?" Po asked the red fox.

"Po…" Bao Shi bowed to the panda, "I'm Bao Shi and I humbly ask for your assistance in a mission."

Po remained silent as he listened.

"A mad man known as Quan Li is going across China, slaughtering warriors. I need the help of the Dragon Warrior in order to stop him," Bao Shi informed him.

"That sounds awesome. Zhen, I want you to go with him," Po told his fox apprentice.

"What?!" both foxes looked at him.

"Bao Shi said he needed help from the Dragon Warrior," Po said.

"Yeah, you. You're the Dragon Warrior!" Bao exclaimed.

"Heh. Not anymore," Po said with a small smile.

"Honestly, this could be good for both of you," Po said.

"How?" Zhen asked.

Po tried to come up with some wise-sounding proverb, probably something to do with either food or a tree.

"He's not very good at the proverb thing, is he?" Bao looked at Zhen.

"No, no he is not" she answered back.

With an annoyed look on his face Po says, "You know I can hear you both, right?"

"We know" they both said.

"Consider this as a sort of test as the Dragon Warrior," Po told the female fox.

"Fine," Zhen rolled her eyes.

"Give her a chance, Bao Shi" Po told the male fox.

"Whatever," Bao Shi rolled his eyes, "Come on, babe" he told Zhen as he walked.

"Did he just call me babe?" Zhen asked Po. She then ran up in front Bao Shi, "Did you just call me babe?" she asked him with annoyed look.

"And what if I did?" Bao Shi countered with a straight face.

"Don't call me babe!" she angrily tells him.

Bao scoffed and walked past her, "You coming or what?"

The two continued to argue as they walked away from the peach tree.

"Oh boy…" Po said to himself as he watched them leave.

"You couldn't have waited until morning to do this?" Zhen asked as they walked down the steps.

"Doing it at night would've ensured I got to talk to the Dragon Warrior alone," Bao replied, "But instead, I end up running into a sassy fox bombshell..." he whispered under his breath.

"What was that? I couldn't hear you," she asked.

"Nothing" he replied, "Just a heads up, we'll be on the road for days."

"Oh goodie" Zhen sarcastically replied.

"Hey, the sooner you help me out and complete this mission, the sooner we can go our separate ways" Bao Shi told her.

"Yeah-yeah," Zhen rolled her eyes.

"We'll make a stop in the next town, so no complaining about how your feet hurt," Bao told her.

"Yeah-yeah," she answered back.

For the two foxes, it was going to be a long journey. Especially with their back-and-forth banter.

A really long journey…
