Tangled/The Mandalorian
AU, but will vaguely follow the plots of both stories. Rapunzel and her story will be brought into the Star Wars universe.
This story starts before season one of The Mandalorian and at the start of Tangled.
Reviews and constructive criticism are welcome, hateful comments are not. Please feel free to reach out! I am looking for a beta reader to help edit if anyone is interested.
I do not own any rights to The Mandalorian or Tangled. Those belong to Disney, along with all the characters, plots, and worlds in said show/movie. I only own my ideas and any original characters.
Enjoy!
Planet: Corona (I turned the kingdom in Tangled into it's own planet to simplify things.)
The Mandalorian ran, vibrant lime green grass swished and flattened as he passed. His movements quick, but deliberate. The only noise to disrupt the peaceful forest came from behind him. The clanking and angry yells of humans and droids alike. Mando thought the forest would almost be beautiful if not for that.
The bounty did not go as anticipated. He couldn't say he was really surprised. He found the thief on the puck easy enough. Subdued and restrained him easy enough. A routine puck, he thought, then it all went sideways.
The strange small iridescent planet seemed a good choice, tucked away behind the sun of another planet that he had been headed to. It would cost little extra to stop there and pick up the smaller bounty. He should've turned away the minute he saw the pink buildings nestled among mountains and neon colored trees. It's like a child made the place.
Hours before, Mando and the thief got out of one such building unmolested. He assumed the bounty didn't fight because he wanted to live. Mando didn't care much either way. The puck stated alive or dead.
The thief had more fight in him then he originally thought.
Mando had the guy planted on the back of the speeder and on his way back to his ship when the speeder suddenly jerked to the right.
Mando glanced back in time to see that his mark had somehow maneuvered his cuffed hands elbow deep into a now open hatch. The speeder jerked again, slamming into a boulder. Mando got thrown a short distance, helmet first into a tree.
He clenched his jaw against the jarring impact, his helmet saved him from injury. He leaped to his feet and spun around, his blaster already out and aimed. His eyes narrowed at the sound of voices and movement in the distance. Mando didn't hesitate. His finger tightened on the trigger. A hole appeared in the back of the now dead thief. The noise got louder, alerting Mando to immediate company, thus leading to his current predicament.
Mando started running after he hastenly pushed his mark into a small ditch and kicked leaves over him.
"Halt!" A mechanical voice rung out from behind him. "In the name of the King--"
Mando drowned out the rest with an eye roll. The planet didn't matter, every guard said the same thing.
Corona didn't have a forgiving landscape. Grass covered rolling hills, thick forests, and towering mountains, all layered in an unforgiving humid heat. It made the chase hard. Mando took advantage. He weaved around trees the size of buildings, over and under thick vines and low branches and protruding roots. Sweat dampened his underarmer. It seemed random, but he had a track on his ship. Mando just needed to lose the gaggle behind him first, then pick up the bounty.
"l said, halt." A droid called out again.
The world exploded.
A flash of searing light blinded Mando's vision before he went flying off his feet. He flipped through the air for a long moment, then hit the ground on his side, hard. Small rocks and debris flug up from the impact. He swore his armor barely blunted the impact with the hard ground.
A large guard droid of shining gold plating stomped out of the thicket. Oddly, of the group Mando spotted earlier, none of the droids were the same models, but all had the same gold plating with purple insignia.
"Halt. Surrender." The droid stated. It's voice loud with indignation.
"No thanks." Mando said in a dry tone. His voice rough. He quickly got on his feet, ignoring the way the world spun and tilted when he moved.
"Surrender and unhand your prisoner." The droid said.
Mando scoffed. "I don't have a prisoner." His eyes stayed on the droid as he sidestepped a tree. Technically true, the mark became more trouble then he was worth. He would've made getting away near impossible with the guards on his ass.
The world decided it wasn't done throwing his ass around.
Mando and the droid both yelled in surprise as the ground disappeared.
He seemed to hit everything on the way down. Tree limbs, surprising strong vines that snapped like a whip when broken under his weight, and mounds of dirt. The ground caught up with him. The breath left him on impact. His teeth chattered together as he tried not to bite his tongue off. His whole body vibrated with the force of the fall. He grimaced. Adrenaline had his heart pounding hard against his chest.
The droid landed a few yards away. Mando felt some vicious pleasure when it bounced and a large rock bashed it's face in. The droid got up anyway and pointed at him.
Mando stumbled to his hands and knees. "Yeah. I got it. Halt. Surrender." Mando muttered. He eyed the tree leaning over the droid. It's armor was already scratched and dented from the fall. His blaster laid several feet to the side, torn from him in the fall. Damn.
Mando twisted his wrist and shot off his last and only whistling bird. The bird burrowed into the far side of the tree trunk. Where it hit imploded into a mass of shrapnel with a loud crack that echoed in the clearing.
"Your aim is faulty criminal." The droid said. It drew back it's shoulders in a show of confidence. "Hal--."
A series of cracks rung out.
The tree collapsed under the strain of the blow, right on top of the droid. A shock wave drove up a plum of dust, along with sending out shrapnel with force.
Mando grunted as a large splinter of wood pierced through his glove and into the meaty part of his hand near his thumb. He got to his feet with a wince. He looked up with a huff of aggravation.
A landslide of dirt and tangled roots looked back rising 15 meters in the air. The fall took him even further from the ship. He pondered the change of plans for a moment, realizing he would have to go get the bounty first, then hike it to his ship. He only took a step toward his fallen blaster when he heard it.
A rhythmic thumping came from the fallen tree, along with a muffled, "Halt".
Mando pulled his rifle off his back and aimed. His injured hand spasmed as pain shot up to his elbow. His rifle didn't charge. He glanced down. The bottom of the rifle was warped, dented. One of the front prongs bent in a bad way. He swore. His mind flashed to the droid's bashed in face. It must of took a beating in the fall. It and everything else, including him.
His eyes scanned his surroundings. He processed it quickly. Trees, trees, steep mountainsides ahead and to the left. Thick dark forest to his right.
It seemed like there was only one good option, till something caught his eye.
A shadowed space on the mountain face ahead of him. Foliage grew over the entire wall. Flowers of vibrant blues and purples broke up the green. The cavernous area hid under thick vines. They swayed and danced with the wind, revealing the space behind.
He moved toward the shadowed area and ducked between the thick hanging vines. It turned out to be a pocket or small cave of some sort. He moved fully into it just as a crash echoed through the forest and the droid freed itself.
Mando paused.
"Halt, in the name of the King." The droid called out as it stumbled away from the fallen tree. A piece of his side armor fell off. "Come back criminal, in the name of the King."
He watched with bated breath as the droid staggered around the area. It's head swiveling as it scanned.
Mando took that as his que. He pushed further into the pocket. It twisted slightly and got smaller with each step. Hopefully he could get out of range of any sensers. With any luck it would assume he went into the forest. He worked to control his breathing and instinctual panic as the walls scrapped his shoulders. He got to a point where the jagged walls pressed into his stomach and shoulder blades. He didn't think he could go any further.
The droids voice gave him motivation to find out.
Mando ran a hand along the walls. The rough walls snagged on the worn leather of his glove. His helmet switched to night sight in the dim shadows. A sliver of light blazed through the grays and greens.
He didn't even glance at the droid. On impulse, his curiosity overroad his self-preservation. He pushed hard against the wall.
The wall gave way.
Mando realized it wasn't a wall at all, at least not a solid one. He squeezed around the tight walls to his sides and through. The covering wrapped around him briefly, then gave way. He snagged the end before it slipped away. Fabric. Dark, thick fabric. Stiff like leather, but not. Interesting. He dropped it and looked up. His eyes widened slightly as his body stilled in surprise.
Far ahead in the distance, a tall tower rose in the air.
