Sorry this is so late! Had some stuff happening. Hope you still love it!

Mikumo should be terrified right now. But he wasn't, instead he was plain bored. Maybe he was just so scared he couldn't feel it anymore? Or maybe he'd been scared so long he'd gotten tired of it.

They'd been forced out of yet another evacuation camp, the Heroes leading them to an underground shelter. Unfortunately, Takeyama took this moment to try and sneak off (again), making them fall behind!

Just as they were reaching the shelter, Mikumo turned to Takeyama…only to find her walking away!

Oh for the love of- "Oi! Takeyama! The shelter is this way!"

"I'm not going in there. If we do, we won't be able to leave for several hours. I'm not waiting that long."

Mikumo rolled his eyes. "Look, I get liking Heroes, I wanna be one when I grow up, but this is-

"I'm not looking for Heroes! I'm looking for my family!"

"You think you're the only one missing family?! Wait 'til after that thing leaves! Out there, you might as well be quirkless like me!"

She opened her mouth to say something, then stopped. "Hold on, I thought you said you want to be a Hero?"

Mikumo rubbed a hand through his greasy hair. "I do."

"That's dumb."

"What."

"You can't be a Hero without a quirk. Using your quirk to beat up Villains is the whole point. Everyone knows that."

Her tone was neither mean nor cruel. It sounded downright confused. Mikumo didn't care. A familiar fire flared in him. "Screw off! I will do it! Uravity said it's possible, and unlike you she's an actual Hero!"

"Whatever, do what you want." She walked away.

"Maybe I will! And you can just go die for all I care!

Then the monster's beam hit the roof above them

Just earlier

Godzilla unleashed a massive blast on the Super X-2. It hit the Fire Mirror, bouncing back into Godzilla. Godzilla powered through. Reflected shots could no longer knock him down.

The Fire Mirror now smoking.

Kuroki grimaced. Seeing no other option, he said, "Close the mirror."

The front of the Super X-2 closed. Godzilla fired his atomic breath but the machine ducked behind a tower. The beam burrowed into several buildings, setting them ablaze.

Godzilla circled the tower. The Super X-2 came out from behind, firing missiles into his back. Godzilla whirled around and fired his atomic breath. The Super X-2 banked sideways as his beam swept over the skyline.

As the beam scrapped across the roof, massive chunks of concrete were sent tumbling down.

Mikumo turned to run, throwing one last look over his shoulder. He stopped. Takeyama was staring upward with a blank expression, showing no reaction to the concrete about to crush her.

"You two are buddies now. No matter what, you stick together."

Mikumo's legs moved.

He knew this was stupid. He knew he was angry at her. He also didn't care. Mikumo slammed into Takeyama, shoving her forward. He fell on top of her, his head hitting the groundThe rubble fell around them. Mikumo squeezed his eyes shut.

Mikumo opened his eyes to see Takeyama staring at him in shock.

Mikumo got to his feet and looked around. The rubble had missed them. Barely. He turned back to Takeyama, who was still staring.

"You…you sav-thanks."

Mikumo looked away. "Yeah yeah." Some liquid got in his eyes, clouding his vision. Why-

"Akatani! You're bleeding!"

Oh.

Mikumo felt his forehead, finding a thin gash. It wasn't deep, but it was gushing.

Takeyama took off her sweatshirt and lifted it to Mikumo's face. "Here, let me-"

Mikumo swatted it away. "I'm fine!" He took a few steps away, folding his arms to make it clear he neither needed nor wanted help.

Takeyama gasped. Mikumo turned and saw her looking fearfully past him. Then he heard the crumbling.

Mikumo turned around as a massive chunk of a wall broke off, falling right for him. He tried to move, but tripped and fell to the ground. Mikumo raised his arms, but knew it was futile.

Izuku looked over his forces. Not good.

Many of the mainland masers had been destroyed. Many others had run out of power due to the battle's sheer length. Of G-Force, Izuku, Akane, Haruo and most of Ishikawa's tanks were down. Even most of the surviving masers were at least somewhat battered.

In the infantry, Gondo's second in command Kiriko Tchujimori was now in charge. Gondo's group had suffered losses, but nothing too terrible. They also had remnants of the mainland group to bolster their forces, though many of them were out of ammo. Izuku was trained in AMF infantry tactics, so he was joining them. No way was he staying on the sidelines.

Since Super X-2's arrival, Godzilla had pushed deep inland. At this rate, throwing him out would take everything their depleted forces had. Izuku didn't even want to think of what this would mean for the days to come, but they simply had no choice. No reinforcements could make it in time. They were it.

As Izuku prepared his group, Creati was planning the Heroes' raid to destroy the transmitter They'd attack simultaneously.

Izuku walked through the camp, feeling tired everything. Then came a voice he hadn't heard in-person for a long time.

"Midori!"

Ochako looked everywhere for her friend. She had to see him one last time before they went out!

There! Walking, helmet in hand with a Godzilla decal captioned "Hail to the King" on his back. Ochako smiled. "Midori!"

Midori turned around. "Ochako!" He ran to her, meeting her in the middle for a hug.

"It's been too long Midori!"

"Yeah it really has…" Midori stepped. "How are you? Are you alright?"

Ochako blinked. "Am I- You've been fighting Godzilla! I should be asking you that! (I'm fine by the way.)"

"Oh good. I'm alright, Zeni broke his ankle so he's out of the battle and our maser's lost-"

"She's what?!"

"H-hey! It got stuck and we had to bail! But I'm pretty sure it's fine-"

"Pretty sure?!"

"I mean unless Godzilla doubled back or a building fell on it, it should be fine!"

Ochako growled. She'd worked on, fought in, even bled in that tank! For four years! It was her baby! And Midori just loses it! Still, at least she can be retrieved.

"What about the others?" she said.

"Hayama's injured. The rest of my team's fine. We lost Haruo."

Ochako's eyes widened. Sakaki was one of their best. "Then, that means-"

"Tani's fine. She's in a an evac center Shibuya resting. And frankly, mourning."

Ochako nodded. It wasn't easy for a maser operator to outlive their partner. Normally they lived or died together.

"What will you do now?" she said.

"I'm joining the infantry. I may be a rookie, but I'm trained. Besides, I'm technically in command and this will let me stay close to the battle-."

"And let you stay in the fight?" Ochako said, deadpan.

Midori looked sheepish. "Maybe?"

Ochako smiled and looked down. "You are incorrigible, you know that?"

"Says my enabler for four years?

Ochako laughed. "That's fair."

Kneeling by one of the tanks, Mina watched with a massive grin. With how badly this night had gone and was likely about to go, she needed a distraction and this was perfect!

It all made sense! The green haired guy was Ochako's friend Midori all along!

Prior bond! Constant communication! And -hey! Ochako was talking to her friends about what went on in their house! Not cool!

Then again, maybe Mina could let it slide since she was the same way with Ejiro. Everyone was allowed at least one confidante. Besides, this could mean Ochako trusted this guy. And that meant…

Shipshipshipship-

"Don't even think about it."

Mina turned, seeing a brawny AMF soldier with purple porcupine quills for hair glaring at her. "Those two aren't getting together. I already lost 7000 yen on them (no thanks to you Haruo),"

Mina's eyebrow raised. "Explain?"

"Me and a bunch of others at G-Force bet on those two getting together. Instead my recently departed raging asshole of a best friend got together with his driver, costing all of us."

"How raging?"

"I used to rate tempers on a scale of "one to Haruo". The scale is still unbroken."

Mina winced. Ouch.

"Yep. Now go waste your time somewhere else! I've got business to attend to." He shooed her from his tank.

Mina put her hands on her hips as she walked away. Rude!

Alas, he'd made a compelling point. For now, Mina the Shipping Queen had been vanquished…

Mikumo opened his eyes, expecting to find himself facing pearly gates, or a fiery pit. Instead he saw the wall hovering a few meters above him. Meanwhile, a shirt and pants eerily similar to Takeyama's were lying next to him.

Both mysteries were solved by a feminine grunt behind Mikumo.

Takeyama, now nearly ten meters tall and wearing a some kind of gymnastics uniform was pushing against the wall, preventing it from falling. "What are you waiting for?! Move!" she grunted.

Mikumo quickly scrambled out from under the wall, expecting Takeyama to stop now. She didn't. Instead, she kept pushing even as the wall pressed on her.

"Takeyama move!"

"I-I can't-" Part of the wall broke off and hit her foot. Takeyama grunted in pain.

"Takeyama!"

"I-I'm fine…" she said. "It just hurts a little. But I can't move without it falling on me!"

Mikumo looked around for help, but there was none. What should he do?! He looked around until his eyes fell at her feet.

An idea formed.

"Takeyama! Where will your body be if you shrink?"

"What?"

"I mean, if you shrink, where will your regular sized self be?! Will it be by your legs under the wall or-"

"Center of mass or…" Her eyes lit up. "My feet! You're a genius Akatani!"

With Mikumo spotting, Takeyama slowly inched her feet back until they were out from under the wall. Once they were sure she was safe, Takeyama shrank. The wall collapsed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. Due to the way she was standing, Takeyama almost fell too, but Mikumo caught her.

They'd made it.

Mikumo handed Takeyama her discarded shoes and pants. "Thanks," she said, putting them on over the gymnastics outfit. She put her weight on the foot the concrete had hit and winced.

Mikumo offered his arm to help her walk. She looked surprised, but took it. They rounded the corner to the bunker doors.

Closed, with them outside.

Takayama turned to Mikumo. "W-What should we do?"

"We-" Godzilla roared in the distance. "We go away from that."

The two kids then began limping away.

Izuku and the other AMF leaders gathered in the tent, along with Intelli, Battle Fist, Creati, and All Might. Ochako was there too, having come with Izuku.

"You have your team chosen?" Izuku said.

Creati nodded. "These Villains won't be easy. We don't know their quirks and they're in their own private fortress. Nevertheless, we've chosen a team we believe can do it. We'd prefer police support, but in the chaos we could get found a few officers."

Izuku nodded. "We're as ready as we'll ever be. Let's gather our troops, brief them, then head out."

Intelli frowned. "Wait," she said "There's one more thing. Your forces are depleted. Many are injured, and others are out of ammunition. Is that correct?"

"We'll make due," Izuku said. "We have too."

Creati and Intelli exchanged looks. "That's just it. We might have a way to bolster your forces, but you won't like it."

Izuku tilted his head. "I'm open to anything right now. What is it?"

Creati stopped forward. "Some of ours want to join you. As subordinates of course. Naturally, we'd only allow our best, ones who can be assets despite their inexperience, and actually follow orders…" The last part was practically a growl.

Izuku furrowed his brow. She can't be saying… "By 'yours' you mean…?"

"Heroes."

Silence.

Then, one of the AMF perfectly summed up their organizations feelings. "Hell no! You fail multiple times, make Godzilla angrier, and now you want to tag along with us?!"

Creati didn't back down. "Our leaders didn't tell us what we were up against! You think I would've used those plans if I knew half of what I learned since then?!"

"And your last one?!"

"One, I didn't know about the pulse, two, we were out of options. Would you just sit back while Godzilla destroyed a city?!"

The soldier glared at her, but said nothing. They all knew the answer.

Someone tried to interject, but Izuku held up his hand. "What about training?" he said. "We've trained specifically for this."

"That is true. That's why we'd send ones who's experience, skills and quirks could help make up for their inexperience, at least enough help more than hurt."

"Quirks aren't everything you know!" someone growled.

"Of course not," said Creati, "but they're valuable tools! Ones that can help us move faster or aim better when following you! Look me in the eyes and tell me they wouldn't be useful."

Both an AMF soldier and Intelli treid to say something, but Ochako got in the way. "Enough. This is his decision, and his alone. Midori, what do you decide?"

For a moment, Izuku said nothing. He looked down, his mind a raging tempest.

He hated this. He hated Heroes fighting kaiju, and he especially hated them fighting Godzilla! Godzilla was his enemy, one he'd never needed a quirk to fight!

But most of all, he hated that she had a point.

They were low on personnel. They could use help, and depending on who, Heroes could be valuable assets.

Izuku didn't want to do this. Everything about Heroes helping them felt like a betrayal. But was that for tactics…or pride?

Izuku suspected the answer.

Meeting Creati's eyes, he said, "Who did you have in mind?"

Another barrage of missiles impacted harmlessly against Godzilla's skin. The kaiju advanced, smoke billowing around him. He fired his atomic breath, but the Super X-2 managed to avoid it. firing his atomic breath.

Several attack helicopters fired at Godzilla, but he paid them no mind. He took another shot at the Super X-2. This time he didn't miss. The Super X-2 wobbled in the air and started lowering.

"The engines overheated! I need a few minutes for them to cool down!"

Kuroki growled. They didn't have that time! Godzilla was right there and the main force wasn't ready yet. They needed to delay him a little longer!

"Is there any back up available?" Kuroki said.

"Yes-Wait, they just sent some!"

Onscreen, ASTOL-MB93s, maser fighter jets, flew down and blasted Godzilla's head. He turned his attention upwards. He fired his atomic breath, but they scattered. Soon they began attacking, firing from whatever direction Godzilla wasn't looking.

Godzilla kept dogging them, shooting down one or two. The rest kept bombarding him but were forced to regroup. However, Godzilla had been so focused on the flying masers he failed to notice the other reinforcements until a metal fist slammed into his face.

Godzilla shook his head at the blow, slowly turning to his newest opponent.

The AMF's second Alpha mech defiantly clanged its fists, daring him to attack.

Yep, the Heroes and AMF are working together. This was more or less my intent from the start. I'm going to elaborate a bit more on it next chapter, but some Heroes are about to join the AMF and vice versa.

As for Yui's comments, those aren't simply her own opinions. It's how pretty much everyone thinks, or at least assumes. Using quirks is essential to, and practically the point of Pro Heroes. Therefore Mikumo's desire to be a quirkless hero just seemed nonsensical to her.
