Same Day, Shane's House, 8:24 PM…..
"Hey, Midnight, what's up? Happy Holidays."
Shane had decided to phone his friend from across the pond now that he actually had time to do so. As always, the outspoken Brit was happy to hear from the boy.
"Wow, I can't fuckin believe it! I'm really on the phone with a bonafide rockstar! I am not worthy, I am not worthy!" Paige joked.
"Oh shut your face, dick." Price responded while laughing.
"Haha! Happy Holidays to you too, twat. Soooo, don't leave me in suspense, man. How'd the competition go?" The pale girl asked.
"By the grace of God, we friggin won the whole thing. Most importantly though, we had a hell of a time. Shit was so much fun."
"Aw, mate I knew you'd do well. Do you get now why you being so scared about it made no sense?"
"I mean, kinda yeah. It took me a while to stop worrying about being perfect and stuff like that, but still."
"Still what? Shane, remember when we'd sit around in my room doing nothing and you'd just start randomly singing? What's that one song you'd always go back to?"
"Uh… Miss Murder by AFI?"
Knight giggled.
"No, ya bellend, not that one. The one you'd sing to me whenever I was having a rough day for whatever reason."
"Oh! You mean the Peaches song!" He remembered.
"Yeah, that's the one. How'd it go again?" She asked.
"It went, "Movin' to the countryyyy, gonna eat a lotta peaches."
Paige decided to join in herself and sing along with him. Together they sang, "I'm movin' to the countryyyy, gonna eat me a lotta peaches, I'm movin' to the country, gonna eat a lotta peaches, movin' to the countryyyy, I'm gonna eat a lotta peaches."
Past the chorus, Price continued.
"Peaches come from a can, they were put there by a man, in a factory downtooooooown!"
More laughs were drawn from the Brit.
"What a silly song."
"Hey, silly or not, you said it yourself. All I had to do was sing that song and it would turn that frown upside down in a flash." He gladly pointed out.
Paige rolled her eyes.
"Only because of how ridiculous you sounded singing it."
"All I'm hearing is, "Shane always found a way to make me feel better and he's super awesome and like the best guy ever."
"I wanna hit you so hard right now. Anyway, dumbass, I brought that up because every time you sang to me, it always sounded good even if you were just playing around. That's why I knew you being in a band would end up being a good idea." She fully explained.
"Well, once again Midnight? You were right on the nose."
"I'm on the nose, I'm on the head, and I'm on the face. I'm on everything all the time."
Shane narrowed his eyes at that sentence.
"I feel like that's supposed to be an innuendo."
"Could be, could not be. That's up to you to decide, love."
"Knowing you… it probably is. Anyway, enough about my musical endeavors, how about you? What have you been doing?" He asked his friend.
"Me? Nothin much. I may have…. done things with Lio."
"Yoooo…. good on him for actually pulling it off."
"Hey! That's not supposed to be how you react to that. You're supposed to be all like, "Oh, that's gross, or there's no way you actually did that!" Paige complained.
"Wait, so you didn't actually?" Price replied slightly confused.
"Oh no, I did. Multiple times. That boy…. what he lacks in height, he for sure makes it up with-"
"Alright NOW imma need you to stop where you are."
Knight made a satisfied noise.
"Yup, that's what I looking for."
"So.. are you guys like, officially a thing now?"
"Nope, we're not." She answered honestly.
"But, you guys did… ya know."
"Yes, love we fucked. And yes, it was amazing. However, we learned pretty quickly that our personalities don't really mash together all that well. Don't get me wrong, he can be very sweet when he wants to be, and I'm always going to be grateful for what he did for me, but… he's just so arrogant. I told him as much to his face anyway."
"Ah, I get what you mean. Bums me out a little though. You two together would've been kinda cool."
"Trust me, it wouldn't have lasted that long. We're better off as friends. But, believe me, if he asks to shag, I'm definitely sayin' yes. Cause his dick is bloody massive!" She added.
The Irish boy's hand went straight to his forehead in disbelief that he actually heard her say that.
"Oh my God…. Midnight, why?"
"Oh Shane, dear, you know exactly why. Pushing your buttons will never, and I mean never, get old to me." She stated with a devious chuckle.
"You know I can just never talk to you again, right?" He pointed out.
"Ha! You and I both know you'd never do that. You love your Midnight waaaaay too much to just abandon me like that. Also, I'm friends with your girlfriend so… she'd kill you for it. Face it, blonde boy, you and me are destined to be connected for life. For life, ya tosser!"
"Oh yeah? Well… well, uh…" He struggled.
"Yeees? I'm listening, love."
All Price could do was sigh.
"You're right, damn it. I could never just ignore you like that." He admitted in defeated tone.
"Mmm hmm, and why is that, exactly?"
"Woman, you know why."
Paige put on an innocent voice.
"Oh but I really don't. Please, please tell me, Shane."
"Holy shit. Because I love you."
"Yup, and don't you forget it! And yeah, you're sorta cool too." She joked.
"Gee, fuckin thanks." The boy said in an exasperated tone.
"Oh, be quiet. You know I feel the same, idiot. You'll always be my favorite American. You make bein here a little less insufferable."
"Speaking of being here actually, do you plan on goin back home for Christmas? You didn't for Thanksgiving."
"Not sure yet. I'd have to ask Zak about that. It would depend on his work. I'm not sure how his vacation time works."
"Would you wanna go home anyway?"
"Eh, it would be nice to see mum and dad again. I'm just worried about running into Wade. Fucker keeps calling me, had to block him last week."
"I wouldn't worry about him. Worse comes to worse, Zak'll just beat him up or something."
"True, true. Well, as much as I'd like to continue this conversation, I'm tired. Call me more often, prick. I miss you."
"I will, Midnight." He promised.
"Good. Bye, bye love." She signed off.
She hung up, and Shane stretched and yawned, feeling a little fatigued himself.
"I should get some studying in first before I hit the hay. Midterms are next week." He thought.
So, the boy whipped out his backpack from under his bed, grabbed his notebook and sat at his desk. Then, off to work he went. But before he really got into concentration mode, one thought went through his head.
"Lio really smashed…. Is it bad that I'm kinda jealous?"
AN: Had to throw in a quick Paige chapter to make sure y'all ain't forget about her. Peace, see you in the next one. You da bessss.
