Due to serious issues with the site I have copied my stories to Spacebattles, and will continue to update on both sites. I strongly recommend following my example of going to another fanfiction site rather than having to find ways around the total lack of any alerts.

Nezu, the one and only U.A. principal, observed the footage of Aizawas final Quirk assessment test, comparing the shape of the cracks to a sketch he had made earlier.

It corroborated his suspicions.

From his first glimpse it had been apparent that the exact shape of the cracks changed over time.

It hadn't been hard to confirm this.

But when he replayed the video for additional data, something less expected had been observable.

The cracks at the start of the video segment (he didn't need to bother with the footage prior to Aizawas disaster) matched exactly the cracks at the end of the video.

It didn't seem likely that the cracks would form the same shape again do soon, which led to his just concluded investigation.

The cracks were changing over time.

And the recordings of the cracks changed as well.

It even affected still images, as proven by a glance of a still from the video on a second monitor, the shape of the cracks exactly matching.

"Very curious," the principal muttered to himself.

By comparison, the effects of his voice at '0%' on the Quirks of those around him were boringly everyday.

His deliberations on the matter were put on pause by the ringing of his phone.

"Principal Nezu speaking. Ah yes, he was accepted into U.A., for the current year. The matter isn't quite so simple as you may wish; he had a bad Quirk interaction, hence him leaving our grounds early."

The next response from the caller brought a snarl to his face.

"If you attempt to charge a student under my protection for a crime he hasn't committed, constable, I will bring my wrath upon your precinct. In fact, I would strongly suggest you request a transfer. Madagascar would be a good choice to avoid me."

The phone was returned to his desk, but his work was interrupted by a hesitant knock at the door instead.

"Enter," he called out, always willing to help a member of his 'pack', be they teacher, student or Aizawa.

It was one of the intended members of 1-A, Yaoyorozu Momo, who took an uncertain step inside.

"Um, Nezu-sama…"

"You are here about the situation with your class earlier," he noted, "are you not, Yaoyorozu-chan."

"Y-yes. I'm here on behalf of sixteen other students in the class… we feel that we can't trust Aizawa-sensei as our teacher any longer, and have agreed that we shall not return to class here until and unless… that boy, I didn't get his name, chooses to rejoin the class."

"You aren't the first to visit me," Nezu noted. "In fact, I learned of the situation about as soon as possible after it occurred due to Bakugou-kun demanding that Aizawa be fired and Midoriya-kun reinstated into your class."

"Wait, Bakugou was willing to do something like that for someone else?"

Nezu couldn't help giggling at the shock in her voice (it was one of the problems, living in the human world like he did, that he could either giggle or burst into fully villainous cackles, but not truly laugh in any other fashion).

"And so it is clear I agree with ninety percent of your class in feeling that Aizawa required punishment for his actions during the assessment. You will be pleased to hear that he is no longer a teacher, and has instead been demoted to teaching assistant. You will be less pleased to hear that he remains assigned to your class, albeit with his hero license on the line for further failures in judgement and all authority over the students revoked."

Yaoyorozu blinked, the clearest sign of surprise that Nezu had listened to the classes concerns.

"May I ask why he's still assigned to the class? After his actions…"

"Midoriya-kun will require a 'special dispensation' until he obtains his hero license," Nezu finished gravely. "This is true, however the reason behind so many of your class being assigned to him stand."

"I don't-"

"You will of course understand the chemical composure of hydrogen cyanide," Nezu interrupted. "Similarly I am sure you noticed how destructive Bakugou-kuns Quirk can be, and how dangerous both sides of Todoroki-kuns Quirk could be. Did you think it a coincidence that three Quirks with such destructive potential were in a class under Eraserhead?"

"B-but, I would never-"

"Hydrogen cyanide, such a simple compound," Nezu stated conversationally. "H-C-N. Something so simple someone with your Quirk could make in their sleep."

His eyes sharpened.

"All it would take is one slip. Just one. That is why you had him as your teacher. A responsibility he failed and is now facing the consequences of."

He held the tension of the moment briefly, before relaxing.

"When I visit the Midoriyas later, to convince them that we are taking the Aizawa matter seriously, I will be sure to mention the loyalty he is already inspiring with his classmates. Incidentally, who was the other student who didn't support the walk out?"

"It was Yuga-kun," Yaoyorozu responded distractedly, having just noticed the sketch Nezu had made of the cracks around the young Midoriya. "If I may, why do you have something that looks like Cuneiform on your desk?"

"An investigation I'm working on," Nezu dismissed. "I trust that was all you came to see me about?"

"Oh, yes. It was just about the class."

"Then let me assure you that I will contact every member of 1-A after my meeting with the Midoriyas to confirm the results of the meeting."

A final couple of pleasantries passed before she left and Nezu could refocus his attention.

The idea that the sketch looked similar to Cuneiform suggested the cracks could be acting as a message from somewhere, but something, an instinct deep within his soul, told him not to pursue it.

On the other hand, Yuga Aoyama being the only student not to back the impromptu walk out of the rest of the class was decidedly interesting.

It was definitely something to look into until it was time to visit Inko and Izuku.

"Principal, about young Midoriya," All Might started in his instantly recognisable voice, hovering at the door to the office. "I just heard about Aizawas test and him walking out on us…"

"Don't worry, as I've already told two concerned students I am quite certain I can convince him to change his mind…"

It hadn't been a fun experience for Izuku when he was heading home, running into a police officer who saw the cracks in the air around him and assumed it was the effect of an active (and therefore illegal) Quirk.

He tried to explain it was the aftereffect of a Quirk interaction, but had still been brought to the station while they 'checked his story'.

They had finally let him go, even escorting him home 'to avoid further misunderstandings', but it was his first experience with what could happen to all too many people with visible or hard to control Quirks.

One of the more interesting Quirks in what could have been his class gave strong indications of being sentient, which, given the current state of the laws, all but required the student to possess a Hero License.

After all, to keep your Quirk active at all times would require such a license, and shutting off a sentient Quirk could be argued, by the right type of lawyer, to coybt as murder.

He had come to the conclusion that the current laws had problems before, but it was only now that he realised how bad it was.

"This it," one of the officers commented, more than asked, and Izuku returned his attention to the here and now.

"Yes," he answered, too distracted to be his normal bundle of nerves.

"We'll walk you to the door," the other officer stated, clearly ignoring the way it could look.

Izuku didn't bother arguing.

The door opened nearly as soon as they knocked.

"Yes, what- Izuku, what happened?"

"There was apparently a 'bad Quirk interaction'," an officer stated. "The principal said he'd be along shortly to discuss things properly."

Their part said, the officers departed, letting Inko all but drag Izuku in.

It was the first chance he had to see what happened when someone touched the cracks surrounding him.

The answer was a disappointing nothing.

Her hand passed through to no effect, beyond the usual visual distortion (even if it did take her two tries to actually grab his arm).

"This was a… a bad interaction? What happened to the other student?"

There was a pain in his chest as he responded.

"It wasn't a student mum. It was… the teacher."

She froze. "What?"

"The teacher… it was Eraserhead. He had us doing some kind of 'Quirk Assessment Test', then in my final event canceled my Quirk, just because he assumed I couldn't control it properly. As though we should all have perfect control over our Quirks, providing clear indications they were active, going into the first school that actually teaches us how to use our Quirks!"

He was shouting by the end, he just needed to let it out.

He collapsed, too worn out by the rollercoaster of a day.

He was mostly recovered by the time there was another knock at the door, to the point it was Izuku who got up to answer rather than his mum.

The visitor was quite a surprise.

"Pr-" He stopped and cleared his throat. "Nezu."

"Principal is fine, it is practically my second name at this point," Nezu said, waving a paw in dismissal. "Now, may I come in? What I want to discuss is better stated in private. Especially after the local police precinct demonstrated a need for my personal attention."

For some reason the principals words sent a shiver down Izukus spine.

Once the three of them were seated inside, Nezu started speaking.

"I know I cannot apologise enough for the failure in judgement of Aizawa. It was a single mistake that will have a lifetimes impact, but nonetheless, I am sorry. Aizawa has already been reduced to a teaching assistant, and any further mistakes like this one will see him lose his license. He would already face more serious consequences, but he was your homeroom teacher for a reason."

"You don't need to-"

"I did," Nezu stated firmly. "He has been making errors in judgement for years, but up until now I was satisfied that it was within my power to correct the incidents while he learned better. It is troubling to have my faith proven misplaced…"

There was a brief silence before he spoke again.

"So far you have not formally left the course, and I would request that you consider the situation properly before you do so. Right now you have little chance of being accepted into another Hero school."

"And this incident means I'll need to earn a license or be at risk of mistaken arrest," Izuku concluded forlornly.

It had always been his dream to be a hero, but it was different when it was a legal requirement.

"Thank you for reminding me," Nezu responded, pulling out a card. "This is a 'special dispensation' card, intended for people trapped in a situation that could be mistaken for active Quirk usage."

He placed it on the table.

"Are there any conditions that come with this offer?"

"Mrs Midoriya, the incident occurred at my school, during the school day. As such responsibility, at the end of the day, is mine. The only condition is that Izuku keep the card with him at all times to prevent further mistakes from law enforcement."

There was a pause, before Nezu got up to leave.

"If you choose to attend another school, I will assist in the transfer to the best of my ability. But before you make such a devision, I feel you should know that your entire class gave me an ultimatum, that if Aizawa remained their teacher and you weren't their classmate, they would leave U.A. as well. Now, if you'll excuse me…"

"Wait," Izuku surprised himself by saying. "Can you give me your word that Aizawa will never try erasing my Quirk again?"

"Young man, if Aizawa repeated a mistake of that level, I would see him arrested, something I have made abundantly clear to him. You are in no danger from him."

"Then… I'll rejoin the class."

"Wonderful! Just remember, 1-A's classes have been canceled for the rest of the week. Make sure to let me know by Sunday if you change your mind."

Days later

"Kurogiri, when you told me to decay the gate, you assured me it would get us the information we need to kill All Might, when he would be vulnerable, away from the rest of the faculty."

The shadowy Nomu inclined what passed for its head somewhat.

"That is what Sensei informed us."

It wasn't an attempt to deflect the blame, merely a statement of fact.

"Then why isn't the information here?"

Kurogiri hesitated, only speaking up when Shigaraki was threatening to use his Quirk on the papers they had 'liberated'.

"It would appear that the early plans to send the first years to the USJ with All Might were derailed by an incident with one of the students. They are in the process of rescheduling the year to ensure neither class gets an advantage over the others."

"USJ? Why would they go to Universal Studios? It just proves-"

"The Unforeseen Situations Joint, a pet project of Thirteen so she can train further generations of Rescue Heroes," Kurogiri corrected gently but firmly.

"Hmmph. I take it we will need to infiltrate and acquire the information later?"

"Unfortunately U.A. are likely on high alert, watching for any further intrusions. We will need to find the information another way."

"Fine, I'll leave it to you."

"If I may," Kurogiri began as Shigaraki stood up to leave the bar, "if you intend to spent time gaming, I would recommend you try the 'Metal Gear' series. I feel it would be most fitting."

Shigaraki shrugged in answer.

In all honesty, the suggestion wasn't too bad.

He had found an emulated version of 'Metal Gear Survive' a while back, and felt it looked interesting.

Might as well give it a try.
