A few days after the beginning match of the qualifying round, the tournament battles have been driving the academy crazy. Something forcing entire classes to stop as majority of students would leave to go see the tournament battle.
Shion has never experienced a crazy phenomenon like this before, let alone been a part of it before. So needlessly to say she was pretty excited to be a part of this.
Currently, she was on her bed with her phone in her hands, as she was swiping through her opponent's, Carlisa Danniel's profile. As she was doing this, Hayacinth was laying down next to her and occasionally licking her hand.
Seeing Carslia's profile made her worry, most of the Pokemon she had were counters to Grass-type Pokemon, Shion's specialty. And not to mention, most of them were pretty strong and capable.
Meaning that it was going to be a very difficult battle for her if she wanted to win.
Shion soon sighed as she put her phone in her pocket and soon whistled to Hayacinth. What they needed was a good walk. Soon the both of them were outside the dorm and breathed in the sweet October air, something that Shion had always found refreshing growing up. However it seems she was took engrossed in it as she accidentally crashed into someone and fell down.
It was another girl, she was tall and beautiful and exuded a sorta of confidence about herself. Not to mention, she was clearly a couple of years older than Shion. She soon glared at Shion and called her out.
"You know, looking were you are going when walking goes a long way!" The girl said.
"Sorry, I must have been in my thoughts too much, I apolog-."
However before Shion could apologize, she looked up and recognized who it was: Carlisa Danniel, her opponent.
"I know you. Your that Shion girl that I am supposed to be battling in a few hours." Carlisa said with a hint of smugness to her voice.
Shion picked herself up as Hayacinth soon went over to see if she was ok.
"Yep I am, then I suppose it is nice to meet you." Shion said in a somewhat friendly tone.
However, Carlisa didn't return this friendliness as she continued talking in a smug tone.
"Well this should be an easy victory, especially since you are a Grass-type trainer." Carlisa said to her.
Shion and Hayacinth soon got mad at that her but before she could retort, Carlisa soon left leaving Shion feeling nervous.
"Well that wasn't very nice was it?" An unknown voice said to her.
Shion soon turned around and saw a senior with blonde hair and a pink vest and skirt smiling at her. Besides her was her trusty partner Pokemon: Ferrothorn.
"I am sorry but who are you?" Shion asked.
"Oh apologies, my name is Leone Troy. Nice to meet you!" She said with a smile.
Sometime later, Shion and Leone were at the resident café at the academy as Leone was drinking coffee and Shion was nervously sipping her soda.
Ferrothorn and Hayacinth were munching on Pokemon food as Shion looked at Leone remembering something that Robyn had told her.
"Gym Leaders-in-training?" Shion asked as she sat on their couch.
Robyn paced around a bit before turning to Shion with a smile on her face.
"Yep! I heard that they are eight students here at the academy being mentored by actual gym leaders and will eventually take over their gyms one day. Isn't that exciting!?" Robyn said to her friend.
And right now, she was currently with one and watching her drink coffee. This couldn't be anymore weird.
"Ah that is better. I have always found that a nice cup of coffee calms my nerves down before a big battle." Leone said to Shion.
"Well you are really strong, I still have much ways to go. Especially with how strong my opponent is." Shion said darkly.
Leone and Ferrothorn soon looked at her and simply said she couldn't give up.
"What?" Shion asked clearly confused.
"Listen, you are letting that girl's words get to you before you have even started the battle. A truly great trainer believes in both themselves and their Pokemon to the bitter end." Leone said to Shion.
Ferrothorn soon nodded at Hayacinth echoing their trainer's statements. Shiona and Hayacinth soon looked at each other and realized that they were right and they couldn't let Carlisa's words affect them before the battle began.
Soon Shion's phone began to ring, and as she took it out she saw that it was a notification for her that her battle was about to begin near the battlefield next to the Research Course building.
"Well it seems you will get you chance, good luck today." Leone said to her.
Shion thanked her as she and Hayacinth soon made their way to the battlefield.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman! I hope you are ready for some more high-octane and fast-paced Pokemon battling! As it is time to continue the qualification rounds of the Pokemon Trainer's Academy Monarch Invitational Tournament!" Freddy George Jr. said to a rocking stadium.
The crowd didn't disappoint as the ground was literally shaking from how excited the crowd was for this battle.
"Alright then let us introduce the trainers, on my left hand side, she has gotten a reputation for her skill of Grass-type Pokemon as well as her creative battle strategies and tactics. Hailing from Olivne City in the Johto Region it is Shion Lovato!"
Shion soon went out to a roaring and anxious crowd, many guys (and some girls) couldn't help but be captivated by the beauty she exuded as she stepped up to her place in the battlefield.
Though initially anxious, looking up and seeing Kenan, Robyn, Tyson and Rex cheering for her soon melted away her worries and soon she was determined to win.
"And now on my right, she is known for her sheer power and overwhelming her opponents with sheer might. From Hau'oil City in the Alola Region, it is Carlisa Danniel!"
And soon Carlisa came out, getting as much and maybe even more so cheers from the crowd as she took her place across from Shion and soon stared her down.
And just like he has down so many times, the referee soon came forward and told them to release their Pokemon.
"Alright Hayacinth, I choose you!"
"Ribombee show them why you are the star!"
Soon both Pokemon came out and stared each other down. Shion was given the first move as the battle began.
"Alright Hayacinth use Razor Leaf!"
Hayacinth soon nodded as she launched several razor-sharp leaves at Ribombee, Carslia soon countered have Ribombee use Fairy Wind which destroyed the Razor Leaf and sent Hayacinth flying back.
"Now Ribombee use Dazzling Gleam!"
Ribombee soon glowed brightly as he soon went down and slammed into Hayacinth, dealing extra amounts of damage to the Eeveelution.
Hayacinth soon got up and looked extremely worse for wear.
"Quick use Leech Seed."
Hayacinth soon spit out a seed that hit Ribombee and soon had vines sprout out from it trapping it and sapping his energy so that Hayacinth could receive it and look much better.
"Great now use Leaf Blade!"
Hayacinth, with renewed vigor soon quickly made her way over to Ribombee and slashed at him with her leaf blade, dealing another critical blow.
Soon after another energy draining, Carslia soon had Ribombee use Bug Buzz as a last resort attack. But this failed almost immediately as Hayacinth was easily able to dodge it and soon knock out Ribombee with a final Razor Leaf.
"Ribombee is unable to battle! Which means the winner of this battle is Shion!" The referee announced.
The crowd soon roared as they celebrated Shion's victory. Shion herself soon ran to Hayacinth and hugged her as they celebrated their first victory in the tournament.
"Well I have to admit this, for a Grass-type trainer you aren't so bad." Carlisa said as she and Ribombee came over to her.
Shion looked up and smiled.
"Thanks I had a lot of fun in this battle." Shion said.
They soon shook hands, as the crowd was certain they would more high-octane battles like this one soon enough.
