My Hero Academia Untold: Draco Knight (Remastered Edition)

Chapter V: Rise of the Black Dragon Knight

For Hisashi, the command station he was assigned to wasn't terrible, at least compared to other stations he had been attached to before. But it wasn't terribly comfortable either. It was understandable; these missions were often assembled on the fly to prevent villains from getting the drop on them. It made sense that these stations needed to be as practical as possible to better blend in with the surrounding area.

"So now that you've been shown around the station, Draco Knight, do you have any questions?" Atlas asked as he guided his young friend into a small kitchenette.

"Who else are we waiting for?" Draco Knight asked as he had spotted a fair number of lower-ranked Pro-Heroes, but no one ranked higher than himself. "Since I know I am not going to be Hero-in-Command, we have to be waiting for someone else, right?"

"I'm not sure who else we're would be waiting for," Atlas answered with a nod and a hum. As the giant made his way towards the table tucked in the corner of the room to grab the kettle reserved for tea or coffee. "Some rumors I heard was that Crust or Yoroi Musha was going to be joining us," he added as he began to pour both of them cups of coffee. "Sugar and or cream?"

"Nah, I'll take it straight, please," Draco Knight answered, taking a seat as he took a moment to ponder the man's words.

"They are both ranked higher than me," the Dragon Hero continued, "but this feels more like a raid...rather than a siege." He added, thinking about the tactical side of things. "From the general briefing, I think it would have to be someone more powerful like Endeavor or All Might."

"Can't be Endeavor," Altas replied automatically, while he finished mixing cream and sugar into his own coffee. "I just saw him on the news. He was there for the grand opening of that new school for children of Pro-Heroes." The large man turned around with two mugs of piping hot coffee that looked comically small in his massive hands. Handing one to the seated young man. While he leaned against the wall as none of the seats were big or strong enough to support his massive frame. "If he was a part of this, he'd be here and not doing that."

"Thank you...and you're right," Draco Knight responded with a nod. "The one headed up by his wife and daughter. Heh, that takes me back. When I had Ingenium as my intern a couple years ago," he added, remembering Rei Todoroki and the now recently made Fuyumi Iida.

He paused as he realized out of all the available heroes with quirks to fit the mission. Especially with the S-Rank looming over them. There was only one person left that would fit the bill. And the very idea of him being involved only served to put Hisashi further on edge.

"So...that only leaves, All Might."

"Very perceptive, Draco Knight," spoke out calm, collected voice by the entrance of the kitchenette. The two Pros turned their heads to see a young adult man dressed in a black suit. He was handsome, with neat, well-groomed dark blue hair and bright golden-yellow eyes. He seemed familiar to Hisashi, but he couldn't place from where...Yet, he also knew that it wasn't from a good memory.

"Who are you?" Draco Knight demanded as he narrowed his eyes at the young man.

"Whoa there, Draco Knight," said Atlas with a nervous tone, standing up straight. "This is Special Agent, Jonouchi Mizuoji. He's our liaison with the H.P.S.C." The man introduced him as the young agent pulled out his badge to confirm his story.

Upon hearing the name, Draco Knight sat up straight. "Wait...I thought you were a journalist?" He questioned, only to rise up from his seat in anger as he remembered who he was. "You're the prick who wrote that hit piece about me a month ago!"

The young agent took a step back, hands raised in apology. "Sorry, Draco Knight," said Jonouchi with a sincere tone. "The journalism bit is my public cover story, and I didn't actually write the article on you. It was one of my handlers." He added nervously, "after all! What better cover for a spy infiltrating villains to have than to make the public and villains alike think I have it out for Pro-Heroes, you know?"

Hisashi's nostrils flared as he exhaled, sitting back down, irritated with the revelation. "Figures the H.P.S.C. would use what they knew about me to write that garbage..."

"If it's any consolation, Draco Knight," Jonouchi replied while still sporting a nervous smile. "When the operation's done, I can put in a good word to make up for it. And if I'm being honest, My younger brother, Shino, and I are actually pretty big fans of yours." He stepped forward while pulling out a small notepad.

"Could I have your autograph?"

As the sun was setting, it bathed the UA campus in a warm, dull golden glow. Inko Midoriya found herself exiting the library and heading towards the UA support department. It had been a long and grueling day of research for the young business course student. But with any luck, she'd finally be able to complete her side-project as the Class 1-A's Business Liaison.

The goal?

To help the infamous Hisashi Kasei with finally submitting his hero codename before he set out for his internship with the Shield Hero, Crust. Mind you that he had already been a hassle to deal with from her earlier attempts at picking a codename. However, she had learned one key thing from him after her first time dealing with him.

Hisashi wanted nothing to do with a heavy samurai theme or anything with heavy Japanese influence.

Leaving suggestions like Dragon Samurai and other derivatives off the table. Still, Inko had been undeterred. She was sure that she found something that Hisashi would enjoy having as a codename. However, she still had to prepare, and that included letting both her mother and her best friend that she would be arriving home late tonight.

"You sure about meeting up with this guy, Inko?"

"I think I'm ready," Inko answered as she held a cellphone by her shoulder while shuffling with a couple of notebooks in her arms. "I've finished helping everyone else figure out their hero names; Kasei is the only one left." She added with a slightly nervous sigh. It didn't help that the deadline for Hisashi to submit his hero name is in two days. "I've done a lot of research with some of the concepts that his friend, Urashima had suggested."

"You know that's not what I meant, girl! You're the one who said this Kasei guy had been a prick!"

"I didn't say, 'Prick'; Mitsuki," Inko responded, annoyed with her best friend's habit of inserting words into her mouth. "I said, he was little prickly!"

"But didn't he yell at you last time?"

"Yes, but I think it was because I said something that must have accidentally struck a nerve," Inko answered back. Hisashi had been completely calm during the start of their last conversation. It wasn't until a particular suggestion had been made that had Hisashi actually snapped at her. But she had been reassured by Daigo Urashima, her Support course counterpart, that Hisashi had been horrified by his own actions.

"Well, if he gets uppity, and or grabby, remember to go for the balls first."

"Mitsuki," Inko groaned. pinching the bridge of her nose. "I appreciate your concern, but I'm not worried. If anything, I should be saying the same thing about that one doctor you're interning with," she added. "You know the one, Doctor Saito? You said he's been giving you the creeps lately?"

"He's a researcher, Inko," Mitsuki answered automatically in a slightly irked tone. "He simply asked if I wanted to donate some eggs for extra credit, but I already declined."

"That sounds pretty suspect if you ask me," Inko followed up as she turned the corner and spotted the entrance to the support course laboratory.

"It would be if he didn't end up asking every woman who visits his clinic the same question," Mitsuki followed up. "It is a clinic that specializes in fertility, after all. And besides, if Saito tries anything shifty, I'll fucking ruin his ass."

"Okay then," Inko sighed, happy to have Mitsuki off her back regarding Hisashi. "Anyway, I have to let you go. I'm about to get to work on finishing this project."

"Alright, but remember, go for the balls."

"Bye, Mitsuki," Inko finished up as she hung up the phone.

The Workshop Studio was the pride and joy of the Support Course department. It was open for any student to study and to work on their school projects. However, one unique perk offered to their students was the right to work on their own personal projects. Provided they pass a notoriously hard examination and remain under the supervision of a licensed support gear engineer, of course.

It was regular for the best third years to pass this exam, uncommon for the best second years, and rare for the best first years in their second semester. However, this year, one student broke the record, as he had passed the examination before the term had even started. That student was Daigo Urashima, and today he was busy helping his friend Hisashi Kasei; to rework his current costume. While his second friend, Shinya Kamihara, was helping to test a long-term side-project.

Well...to be more accurate, he was here to help Hisashi with his costume as well. At least until Hisashi accidentally knocked out Shinya during their first practice spar. So now, Shinya was "volunteered" for this instead.

"No sense of taste," Daigo commented regarding his distaste of the frankly outrageous use of orange that clashed with Hisashi's black scales. While Hisashi continued his combat exercises in the open testing area with his Quirk active. Though he was now using practice dummy robots instead of Shinya. The first thing Daigo noted for Hisashi's current costume design -aside from its general ugliness, were several design flaws that needed to be addressed.

"What do you think, Kamihara? Should I redo the color scheme?" He added, turning around to see the thin boy with a large headset strapped to his head while lying down on a cot against the wall. "Oh right...he's still out cold. Oh well, at least he's producing data," he added to himself, seeing the monitor displaying the boy's brainwaves.

He had set up the future ninja-themed hero with a set of modified Augmented Virtual Reality (AVR) headgear. It was set up with a program he had been working on at home. Though its current capabilities were limited, Daigo one day hoped to develop it into a sleep therapy tool, using AVR to create and or influence dream/sleep patterns. An idea inspired after seeing a remake of a pre-quirk era movie. About thieves who stole information from people's dreams, albeit this was to help people, not to invade their privacy.

"I'll take his silence as a yes," Daigo muttered to himself while continuing to note on which colors would better complement Hisashi's color palette. He also added notes where he could remove what he saw as unnecessary aspects of the costume. While also noting where he could improve the design. As Hisashi continued slashing away against the practice robots attacking him, Daigo was typing away at machine gun level speeds.

All in all, Daigo had his work cut out for him with the looming deadline before Hisashi left for his internship.

"You know between the ugly breastplate and the poorly made armor joints," Daigo finally said into the microphone so Hisashi could hear him. "You'd think they have it out for you."

"No! You don't say?! Why do you think I keep taking those bits off when I increase my Quirk's output?!" Hisashi quipped sarcastically as he ripped and tore into the final machine with ease. "I mean, I know that my drawing skills are a complete ass, but I left enough notes what should have covered for that!"

"And there goes the last robot we were allotted for private training," Daigo followed up in a bored voice while taking off his large coke bottle glasses to clean them out of habit. "You could have focused more on dodging than just attacking, Kasei."

"I'm basically an armored tank, Urashima!" Hisashi complained as he took off his T-shirt. Which was drenched with sweat, exposing the jet-black scales on his torso to get some air. "A tank, tanks hits!" He added, beating his chest scales with his fist.

"And a tank can still get destroyed if it gets hit hard enough," Daigo was quick to respond as he replaced the glasses on his face. "As proven when Sakatama schooled you last week."

"ARGH! FUCK THAT WHALE!" Hisashi roared as he was painfully reminded of his last spar against his class vice-president. "That hypersonic wave attack was bullshit!"

"Look, I just think you need to rethink your philosophy on combat!" Daigo advised as he looked over his notes. "Going for a lighter design to play up to your strengths as you increase your Quirk's output. Rather than being a tank, you could be more like heavy cavalry."

Hisashi froze as he took a moment to think. However, Daigo quickly continued selling his point across, now that he had the young dragon boy's attention. He had chosen the word cavalry to catch his attention and set up a particular idea in his head.

"Heavy cavalry used speed and power for hard and fast shock attacks! I know you can be quick with your Quirk active! So why not go for an elementary approach to complement your natural armor? It would leave you more flexible in both offense and defense. "

"Mhmm..."

"You'd be faster than Sakatama, so you'd be able to avoid his sonic attacks better!" He added in a sing-song tone.

"Can you make a prototype to replace the parts of my costume within my stipend budget?" Hisashi questioned, knowing that he needed to be careful with that money.

"Yep! I can make a carbon fiber plate armor with some paper and..."

"The fuck do you mean by PAPER?!" Hisashi yelled out incredulously. "Paper armor, are you high?!"

"It's just an ingredient! Not the primary material, Kasei! I'd be using a different kind of paper, but it would be denser with fiber! I could actually make a very tough carbon fiber material."

"I really want a hit on whatever you're smoking to come up with half of the ideas that go through your head."

"I haven't failed you yet, right, future boss?!"

Hisashi stopped as he saw Daigo's face through the glass of the observation room.

"Just leave the science stuff to me, damn it," Daigo continued with confidence. "I'll make sure you have what you need and make it look good too."

"Heh," Hisashi snorted; it was hard to believe that this was the same timid lad he had befriended last year. He was still meek at times, but he had been getting better at it. Hell, the fact he just swore proved that he meant business. "I suppose you're right; you are best in the support course for our year. I trust you, despite how insane you sound."

"Right, I'll get to work on the prototype and..."

"Umm...excuse me?"

Daigo turned around in his seat and spotted a nervous-looking Inko Midoriya by the entranceway.

"Is Kasei ready for me?" Inko managed to squeak out with a look of embarrassment. "It's already late into the afternoon, and I'd like to get this done so I can go home, please."

Daigo almost facepalmed himself. He had forgotten that Hisashi was waiting for her to show up. He had been caught up in doing his own project; he forgot that his fellow liaison was doing the same from the business end.

"Umm...Yeah, he's ready, sorry about that, Midoriya," said Daigo sincerely before pushing the button on the microphone again. "Hey, Kasei?"

"Yeah?" Hisashi answered while taking a water break.

"Midoriya's here."

Daigo forced himself not to laugh as Hisashi spat out his drink and started coughing. "How long has she been here?!"

"Let me check..."Daigo instantly turned around to check back with Inko. Thankfully she was listening and had her answer ready.

"Just a couple of minutes."

"Just a couple of minutes," Daigo repeated to the mic.

"I'm coming right now," Hisashi responded with a sigh as he made his way back towards the observation room.

To say that things between Hisashi and Inko felt awkward was an understatement. They had moved to the workshop break room, which was small, to say the least. While Daigo remained behind to both clean up and double-check that Shinya was still alive.

Thankfully, the Support Course knew how to make the most out of the limited space, as each of the four available tables had something extra built into the center. The red table had a built-in microwave on a rotating dial. The green one had a built-in hotplate; the blue had a built-in mini-refrigerator that opened from the top; the yellow was an unusually tall Kotatsu table with another hotplate. But this one was set up with a kettle and teapot.

Despite it still being Spring. The room was air-conditioned cold enough for the two to take a seat at the yellow table, where they could be comfortable enough to work. Yet, before any work could start, Hisashi needed to clear the air first.

As Inko began to prepare her notes, Hisashi spoke up.

"Umm...Hey, Midoriya?"

"Yes?" The young woman answered as she finished organizing for notes before looking back up at Hisashi. Her face was blank. Yet, Hisashi could tell that she was more than a little nervous and that frustrated him.

"Before we begin," and without any warning. Hisashi leaned forward, bowing as deeply as he could, almost slamming his head against the table. "I'm so sorry for how I acted last time."

Inko squeaked in surprise, given everything that had happened. This caught her off-guard she began shaking her head and hands, trying to show there were no hard feelings.

"No, no, no! It's okay! I know you didn't mean anything by it! If anything, I should be the one who is sorry!"

Hisashi shook his head while still keeping it down.

"No," he said firmly. "It was completely unacceptable as you were trying to help me. And...I should have been more mature about your suggestions." He added, remembering how his therapist had advised him. "I...I can't go into detail about why I reacted the way I did, but regardless of the reason. You did not deserve that treatment."

Hisashi breathed in, head still down.

"I understand you don't forgive me, and regardless of your answer. I swear it will never happen again," Hisashi pledged as sincerely as he could, determined to make things right. But that was difficult since he couldn't provide her any context. Yakuza were well known for their love of Samurai Iconography, often trying to incorporate bastardized aspects of the iconic warriors of feudal Japan. However, Hisashi's efforts to distance himself from anything that could associate him with that sub-culture developed a distaste for such things.

Hence why he had suddenly snapped at her when she had suggested Dragon Samurai as his hero codename. Finally, after what seemed like an hour, but it was only a couple of seconds. Hisashi heard Inko sigh, but it was hard to determine what kind of sigh, one of relief or frustration? Either way, Hisashi was ready to face the consequences of his actions.

"Kasei, can you please raise your head?" He heard her say gently. Hisashi complied, slowly lifting his head, and was surprised with what he saw. Inko looked at him with the warmest face he had ever seen. Her emerald eyes almost seemed to shine, highlighted by a bright smile. And for some strange reason, the boy felt like his heart had skipped a beat.

"I forgive you," Inko answered with a gentle voice. "And I'm glad that I was right about you."

"Wh-what do you mean?" Hisashi managed to say despite still feeling nervous.

"I know how you normally act," Inko continued with that same smile. "It's almost the opposite of what the rumors about you say. You're very passionate, and while that can come off as really aggressive. I know that you can be kind, sweet, and gentle."

Hisashi instantly felt his face flush as his heart continued to pick up speed. Only a handful of people would have described him in such a manner. He never thought Inko, despite arguably one of the nicest people in the whole damn school to be one of them. It was gratifying and far better than being feared like he was by most of the student body.

"I can tell you've had a lot of hardship," Inko continued. "But you refuse to let it weigh you down, and...I really admired that about you. Despite how you act sometimes, I know you ultimately mean well."

Hisashi forced his head down. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes. He was happy, happy that there was someone else that actually understood him. Someone who gave him a chance to prove that he was more than a street punk. But, the boy still had his pride, however. And he wasn't ready to appear so vulnerable in front of anyone, let alone Inko Midoriya. That would be for another time.

"Thank you, Midoriya."

"But, I will hold you up to the oath you just made me!" Inko added with a cautious giggle. "All the more fitting with the new codename I have prepared for you," Inko added while sliding the main sheet from her notes.

Hisashi reached for it and began examining her findings. What surprised him was that it wasn't in Japanese but in English. Or, to be more accurate, Inko used the Latin Alphabet used in English and other majority European languages. Often referred to as Romanji when used in a Japanese context. Regardless, Hisashi wasn't as well versed in English as he might as liked, not for the lack of trying. But he found English is one bastard of a language to learn when compared to his mother tongue.

"I did a lot of research. I was determined to keep Dragon as part of your codename," Inko began explaining. "I was also wanted to continue with the armored theme because it fits well with your Quirk. However, once I took that into account, wanting something...less Japanese. I decided to look where dragons were also popular. I found myself looking into medieval Europe," she added a few other notes that showed images of dragons and armored knights on horseback.

"Dar, Drai..da..co knaito?" Hisashi tried reading out loud. "Dragon Knight?"

"Yes! I was originally thinking about using Dragon Knight. Unfortunately, I found that name was already in use," she sighed, making Hisashi disappointed. Dragon Knight did sound pretty cool and worked more towards Hisashi's tastes.

"So I decided to do a little more digging and settled on the Latin word for Dragon. Draco," Inko managed to pronounce flawlessly. "And instead of using Kishi, I used Knight. Together your codename would be Draco Knight."

"Draco...Knight" Hisashi repeated to himself, liking how the name rolled off his tongue.

He didn't know how Inko guessed his tastes. But he wasn't complaining. Hisashi developed a love for medieval European themes after reading several of Kai's mangas which featured several European-inspired High-Fantasy series. Hisashi also liked the idea of being a Knight over a Samurai as a sign of further rejecting his Yakuza heritage. Basically, it was just another middle finger he could throw at his father, next to being a Pro-Hero.

"I love it, Midoriya," Hisashi finally answered with a smile on his face. "Thank you so much for the idea."

"Great!" said Inko, delighted with the results, quickly sliding a form for Hisashi to fill out. "Just sign this and confirm the codename with the epitaph. I also have it there translated for you to look over and adjust if you want."

Hisashi looked at the form and looked at the spot Inko pointed at to his completed title. "Before I do, there is one thing I want to confirm."

"Yes?" Said Inko, going from looking happy to concerned.

"Since I held you up so late...I couldn't accept the title of Knight if I allowed you to go home alone," Hisashi explained seriously. "It will be dark soon, and regardless of patrolling heroes...I wouldn't feel right about it, so may I please walk you home?"

"Oh! Umm..."Inko thought about it. Thankfully she was already convinced that Hisashi didn't have any ulterior motives. Still, she was bashful at the idea of a boy walking her home. But she also found it adorable that Hisashi was already trying to live up to some kind of standard. One expected of a Knight. "Only if you won't get in trouble."

"I won't," Hisashi reassured her. It was still hours before curfew, and in the worst-case scenario, he could just inform Kai about his plans. Given that he was just escorting a young lady home safely, he wouldn't have any problem with it, if Hisashi was caught during curfew hours.

"Alright," Inko breathed out as a blush grew on her face.

Satisfied with her answer, Hisashi turned to look at the form. Double-checking everything and finally signing the title he would sport for the rest of his life. A title that would launch a career and unknowingly change the world in anyways no one thought possible. A title that ironically would be shared by an unexpected heir.

The Chivalrous Dragon Hero: Draco Knight

Author's Notes

Phew! I am so happy I finally...and I MEAN FINALLY finished this chapter. One of the funniest things about writer's block is that it stops you from writing. It's that it can stop you from deciding which idea to go with and execute. I knew what I needed to set out for this chapter. But the hard part was how much information that I was willing to drop on you. Given what information you readers specifically know about some of the mysteries of the Fafnir Knight, I still need to have some surprises to keep exclusively in Fafnir instead.

This is why I had to go with a more subtle approach to certain revelations shown in this chapter. Albeit, if you were paying attention, you might have noticed several things that this chapter showed off that will be important for the Fafnir Story.

Regularly when it comes to Draco Knight chapters, I rarely have any structure behind them. But it's more like what clues do I want to show off and direct answers to what I want to give you. However, the next Draco Knight is planned out; since I can now confirm without any doubts.

Draco Knight will only be 13 chapters. Or, to be more accurate, 12 chapters and an Epilogue. This means the next chapter is the halfway point of this series. (Kinda like how we have reached the halfway point in the first Saga of the Fafnir Knight.)

Therefore, I know what will be covered in the next chapter, and it's going to be BIG.

Chapter VI: The Nursery Incident.

I've only dropped snippets about the importance of this event, but now.

It's here with some of the most important answers to reveal about the night that changed everything. This chapter will be aimed for release after the conclusion of Fafnir's third Arc. I hope you're looking forward to it.
