By five o'clock I hear him getting a shower. I take all my courage and I go down waiting for him in the kitchen, preparing mentally for the oncoming possible row.
Half an hour later, he passes in front of it, without deigning me of a look, ready to get out.
'Where are you going?'
'None of your business' he replies opening the door.
'If you are going to meet a certain nurse, you are going in vain'
He turns slowly and I can see anger mounting steadily anticipating some kind of intrusion from my part.
'Can I know why?'
'Because I talked to her. She is not going to come near you again'
'You did what?!' he hisses.
'Harry, I had to do it! It's for your own good'
His fists clench ominously as he advances toward me, but my wand is ready 'Don't come any closer' I warn him.
'You know Hermione, you are not the only one having a wand' he said threateningly.
'You wouldn't hurt me'
'Do you wanna bet?' his eyes flashing as he comes closer.
'If you take another step, I'll immobilise you and I'll take you to St. mungo's by force to get a treatment. I promise you I will' I continue stern keeping my voice steady devoid of any hesitation.
He stops short at those words looking murderously. And as I'm thinking that probably that threat won't be enough, he turns his back on me, walks out swiftly and slams the door behind him.
I take profit of the evening by myself to contact all are concerned about Harry. George and Ted firsts to tranquilise them that I'm still alive, despite quite shaken. And then Molly and Arthur. I positively soften the situation as I don't want them to know how scared and preoccupied I am. They already went through a lot with Ginny's death, I don't want to add to their already big afflictions. And then I write to Rose, to Hugo and to Charlie, Bill, and Luna, a line to Percy too. I'm not writing to Ron. I'm still enraged against him. George has kindly sent Leo to collects the mail and when he comes, I give all to him and I watch him fly away in the night burdened by my many letters.
The evening flew in the accomplishment of those necessary tasks and it's already late when I close the window behind Leo, and I check the clock on the wall. I decide to go to bed, but, nevertheless, I'll stay awake until Harry doesn't get back.
At one o'clock I hear the door open downstairs and a fast excited talk in the corridor. He is not alone. There is a woman with him. At one point they both burst out laughing, for sure drank.
She shushes him but he shouts with mirth 'Don't worry hon, there is only my substitute wife, and it doesn't matter if she hears anything' making the girl giggles.
Ok, he wants to provoke me. But I won't allow him to. If he thinks he is going to drive me away with this petty device, he is greatly mistaken. If he wants war, he'll have war.
My god. It's already forty-five minutes and they are still going strong.
The girl won't have any voice left tomorrow if they keep it going.
I start to think I missed something in life.
Sometimes later I'm sure of it.
Eventually I cannot hear anything more.
At least he will sleep well tonight.
Lucky him.
