Chapter three:

"I do want to study here." I confirm making Jamie smile to hear the good news.

"Great! Come with me and we can get you all signed up." Jamie leads me to his office to get everything all set.

Later…

I make it home finding that Hikaru is already home watching some TV. I sit down next to my brother who turns away from the TV to look at me instead.

"Had a good time out?" Hikaru inquires and I nod my head.

"I joined a school that I think is perfect for me!" I tell Hikaru only for my brother to fully sit up from his leaning back position.

"Wait! You're going to another school!?" Hikaru's demand gets me to blink worriedly at him.

"I'm sorry Hikaru. However it is a place that is like a dream school for me! I am surrounded by others just like me and not to mention that I get to explore things I wouldn't at our current school." I really hope that Hikaru won't be too angry. "You could come for a visit and see for yourself. It is a place that I couldn't pass up."

Hikaru is quiet for a moment before he lets out a breath. "Alright Kaoru." His agreement makes me so happy that I even smile it at him. "I know how bored you were getting with our current school. It is good to see you actually excited about school." He puts an arm gently around my neck causing me to chuckle softly. "I am sure that the others will understand too. When do you start this new school?"

"Tomorrow. Professor Jamie already managed to get into contact with Ouran's principle and got him to understand. Mom and dad were sent an email however this is a program where I get to decide if I accept. So I really hope that they don't get too upset."

"Oh hush." Hikaru moves his arm away to ruffle my hair rather playfully. "I am sure that they will just be happy that you are finding your own way in the world."

I smile a little more at this happy to have Hikaru's support in this.

"Kaoru!" Our mother comes running into the living room with our father trying to catch up after her. She hugs the both of us with one of us in each arm. "We got the news!"

"Mom. Dad. Please understand that I really want to go to this school."

"Hush." Our mother smiles at me who is her youngest son causing me to blink at her at this. "I am just happy that you found something for yourself. I have been hoping that there would be something you'd want to learn in school. Finally making you wanting to go. This program sounds like the perfect way for you to do this." She nuzzles both of us making me grin and Hikaru try to gently bat her away a little. "I may not fully understand why you don't want to fully advertise just how brilliant that mind of yours is. However I think that it truly is great that you have a school that you actually approve of." She had looked into other schools for me only for me back then to reject them in order to be with my brother, but this time it was one that I didn't want to say no to.

Our father can be seen just past our mother giving me a small approving nod which swells my chest with happiness.

I let out a breath that is almost silent as I am truly happy that my family is happy that I found a place where I truly want to learn. I just hope that me and Hikaru's friends will be just as supportive about my choice to do this.

The next day…

I am getting dropped off first and Hikaru looks to the school as the limo pulls up. "You sure you don't want to come in?" I question as we ignore that a few students look at the limo we have arrived in.

"Not today." Hikaru turns to smile at me. "Maybe once you get a little more settled in and have something cool to show me."

I smile at this before hugging my brother who hugs me back in return.

"I'll pick you up after club time. Don't worry. We won't let going to different schools ruin our bond." Hikaru promises as the two of us pull apart.

We share a smile before I head out and go towards my first day at this new school.

I don't have a dress code for this school, other than not showing up in just underwear or naked, so today I am wearing black pants, black shoes, a blue tank top with black fabric like extra straps hanging on my arm, and I have my usual school bag. I make it to my classroom finding Professor Jamie in the room looking at those that are there.

There is only Kenji, Kari, Sako and Toshi in currently with all of them currently working.

Jamie notices me and heads over. "Excited for your first day?" He asks getting a nod of my head from me in response. "Great. Remember that you are free to start and end the day at any point you want to. This program offers you more freedom than most schools."

"I know." I assure my professor who looks glad to hear it. "I just think I would rather be able to start when I can get a ride with my brother. We're pretty close."

Jamie hums in understanding to this. "I understand. That is your choice and I will let you do what feels right for you." He walks with me over to my new work station. "I got some blueprint paper and some writing stuff for you. Do you need anything from me or would you rather get started?"

"I want to start working." I admit to which Jamie nods his head. I can't wait as the project ideas have been racing through my mind. I at least think I know one that I want to try working on first so that is at least a step in the right direction to start out.

"Let me know if you need anything at all." Jamie leaves me to start working and he spots Len who comes in so he goes to greet the other student.

I sit down in my chair which does feel comfy for an office chair. I pull out a blueprint paper and start planning out my first project. I really hope that I can make this first idea become a reality.

….

Hikaru is sitting with the other host club members for a meeting as word got around quickly that Kaoru wasn't here today.

"So. With Kaoru at a new school." Tamaki starts only for Hikaru to speak up.

"That he picked and has a program that he wants to pursue."

"There isn't any doubt about that." Kyouya mentions getting Hikaru to settle down. "We just need to figure out how to change things with Kaoru no longer here for the club activities. I am sure he might visit however that doesn't mean he will always be here."

"Yes. Thank you mommy." Tamaki clears his throat. "Our guests will take note of Kaorus absence. We must make the change as smooth as possible."

"Why did Kaoru change schools?" Haruhi inquires blinking in curiosity at Hikaru. "I mean weren't you two doing just fine at this school?"

Hikaru hesitates a moment before letting out a sigh. "Don't tell anyone but Kaoru is actually a lot smarter than you might think. He found this school boring as the lessons couldn't help him learn anything really new. He found a school and program that he feels will help him grow so he decided to accept the opportunity to study there."

Haruhi pauses in surprise as she is the last of the host club to learn that Kaoru is smarter than he seems.

Hikaru looks to Tamaki and Kyouya with a calm look. "I could do an act of missing him and such. Still play into the act we set up. That way it'll just be a slight change with the same narrative going on for them."

"That sounds like an excellent idea." Kyouya nods his head so Tamaki claps his hands.

"Great! And if anyone asks why Kaoru changed schools we should all just say that he went to another school to help him learn better for his role in the future of the twins family business. They don't need to know anything else." Tamaki looks happy to have that resolved. "Now then. Let us figure out this coming few weeks schedule."

"Wait." Haruhi speaks up again gaining all the attention. "What kind of school is this?"

Hikaru explains what Kaoru told him last night. He sees happy excitement for their friend in the others eyes… However he doesn't miss that Haruhi looks a little jealous.

"Well it is good that Kaoru was offered a place in such a school." Kyouya mentions getting attention to him. "Now then for our schedule." He looks to a clipboard of papers.

Hikaru hopes that Haruhi will be fine with Kaoru going to that school. He doesn't want her jealousy over it to worsen into something bad.
