A couple of hours later, Elena found herself being led into a spacious two-story house, and by led, she meant Klaus had an iron grip on her arm as he forced her inside. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt. She had a feeling that if she were completely human, it would hurt quite a bit. Her physical strength and durability seemed to increase some when she started drinking human blood regularly. "Okay, is this really necessary? I'm not going to run. There would be no point to it, as I know you'd catch me."

"I'm not taking any chances, Doppelganger," Klaus said before pushing the girl into a chair in the kitchen they'd just entered. "Once the vervain is out of your system, I'll ensure you don't go anywhere.

Elena chuckled at him. Klaus had attempted to compel her right after they got into the car in Mystic Falls. It had, of course, failed. It wasn't for the reasons he thought though. She wasn't on vervain. She didn't even wear it anymore. She couldn't be compelled because she was a witch.

Elena watched as young African American woman entered the kitchen from the other room and smiled at Klaus. Whoever she was, she was obviously an ally of his. She could also tell that she was a witch. Not long after gaining her magic, she found that she could sense most magical creatures without even touching them. That also must have been why 'Ric' seemed off to her the moment he sat next to her, although he had been harder to sense than most others.

Klaus smiled as he turned to face the other occupant of his home. "Geta. Thank you for waiting up for me."

"Of course. I see your trip was a success," Greta said.

"It was. Doppelganger, meet Greta. Greta, doppelganger," Klaus introduced.

Elena looked at the other witch. She remembered her father telling her that Jonas had a daughter named Greta, and that Klaus was holding her hostage. If this was the same person, she didn't look like a hostage. "Don't mind him. He can't seem to be bothered to learn my name. I'm Elena. It's nice to meet you."

Greta raised an eyebrow at the younger girl's demeaner. She couldn't detect an ounce of fear from her. She was about to be sacrificed to Klaus, and she wasn't afraid at all. Greta couldn't decide if that was impressive or stupid. "Well, you're not what I would've expected."

"I think my brother has put it into her head that he can save her. It's a bit naïve of her, considering I'm sure Elijah has no intention of it," Klaus said in a mocking tone.

Elena rolled her eyes in response, but chose to otherwise ignore Klaus' attempt to goad her. "So, what's your plan? You've got less than a week until the full moon."

"It's not going to happen this month. There's too much left to do. I still have to get the moonstone and line up the other sacrifices, although that will be the easy part. I need to find Katerina as well. That will probably take a while," Klaus said. Finding Katerina killed two birds with one stone. He would finally make her suffer and get his moonstone back.

"Well, let me save you from that never ending wild goose chase. She's dead," Elena told him.

"What?!" Klaus asked in an enraged tone.

"She's dead. Elijah killed her," Elena told him.

"He had no right! She was mine!" Klaus snarled. His brother was going to pay for that. He would love nothing more than to dagger him, but to do that, he'd have to remove a dagger from someone, as he'd misplaced the other one. That was a headache he didn't need. That didn't mean he wouldn't make his brother suffer for it though.

"I mean, that's kind of arguable, isn't it? Elijah was the one she used. She caused him more pain than you. Anway, it's a moot point. She's dead. Get over it," Elena said.

Klaus was ready to throttle the young doppelganger. He found her lack of fear to be amusing at first, but now she was starting to irritate him. Unfortunately, he needed her for a while longer. "I'm going out. Greta, don't let her out of your sight."

Elena waved at her uncle. "Have a fun temper tantrum."

Klaus glared at the girl one last time before storming out of the house.

"Are you stupid? You've never heard the expression 'don't poke the bear'?" Greta asked.

Elena scoffed. "The 'bear' intends to sacrifice me in a magical ritual. What more could he do?" she asked before getting up and crossing the kitchen.

"Where do you think you're going?" Greta asked.

"Well, thanks to Klaus, I haven't eaten since lunch. I'm starving. Please tell me Klaus has real food here," Elena said as she opened his fridge. She could drink human blood, but she also still needed human food.

"Bottom shelf," Greta told her.

"Thank you," Elena said before pulling out some ham, cheese, and mustard.

"Bread's on the counter. Plates in the cabinet just above the sink," Greta said.

Elena grabbed the desired items and made herself a sandwich. "So, don't you have some spells you have to cast? I'm sure Klaus doesn't want Elijah finding this place, and he will have a witch do location spells, if he hasn't already."

"This place is already shielded. Anyone who did the spell you mentioned would be redirected to antarctica. How'd you know I was a witch? I didn't tell you that," Greta said.

Elena sat back down at the table before unclasping the bracelet from her wrist and placing it on the table. She wasn't supposed to take it off. It was just one more thing for her dad to kill her for. "The same way that you now know that I am too."

Greta looked on in shock. She sensed the magic in the girl almost instantly after she removed her bracelet. This girl was strong. She was definitely a very powerful witch, but that wasn't all that was there. Greta laughed after the shock wore off. "You're a clever little thing, aren't you?"

"I can't take the credit. Elijah gave it to me, and I believe he got it from your father," Elena said.

"Well, that's interesting. May I?" Greta asked as she pointed to the bracelet.

Elena nodded and handed it to her before taking a bite of her sandwich.

Greta grasped the bracelet and sensed the magic in it. "Yeah. This is filled with my family's magic. It's interesting that my father would make this for you. He's the one who gave Klaus your identity and location."

"Really? Did he leave here alive?" Elena asked.

"Yes. Klaus spared him for my benefit," Greta told her.

"Then I'm sorry. I don't think Klaus did you any favors. Once Elijah finds out that Jonas betrayed him, he will kill him, and he won't be merciful about it," Elena said. Her father was a reasonable man, but he shouldn't be crossed. And when it came to Elena's safety, there was no negotiating. He would annihilate anyone he perceived as a threat. That was why Katherine was dead. When he found out that Jonas sold her out, he was going to be murderous. Hell, even Klaus might want to hide when he eventually caught up to him.

"My father made his choice, and he was less than truthful. He didn't tell us you were a witch," Greta said.

"That doesn't surprise me. Jonas was probably trying to get me killed. He's made no secret that he hates what I am. He wouldn't be the only one," Elena said as she thought of Katherine, and Grayson and John.

Greta noted that this was the most emotion she'd seen from this girl since she got there. This was obviously a painful point for her. "What are you exactly? I know you're a witch, but there's something else there, something that isn't human, which means Klaus can't use you to break the curse. You knew that. That's why you're not afraid of him."

"I am part human, but I'm not a doppelganger, so no, Klaus can't use me. The other part you're sensing is vampire," Elena said.

"That should be impossible. Then again, I'm sure that was once said about a vampire existing inside a werewolf," Greta said.

Elena relaxed a little at not seeing instant disgust on Greta's face after learning what she was. She wasn't sure how the other witch would react. She might have thought she should be destroyed, like her father did, and like Elena's own mother.

Greta sat down across from the girl. "You mind if I ask how it happened?"

"My birth mother used a powerful fertility spell, so she could trap a man into marrying her. She wanted his money and influence. She didn't know my father was a vampire until it was too late," Elena explained.

"I didn't know a fertility spell could create a child with a vampire. Then again, most witches wouldn't want to have a child with a vampire, so there would be no way to know. Klaus did research on your family. Your father was human, although also a vampire hunter," Greta said.

"John Gilbert wasn't my father. He only passed me off as his. Tell me, Greta, have you ever known witches that could time travel?" Elena asked.

"Not personally, but I have heard of a couple of them that can," Greta responded.

"Well, that's what happened to me. A witch brought me forward in time after my mother abandoned me to her in hopes of having me killed. The witch couldn't go through with it, so she decided to make me someone else's problem. I guess she just hoped someone else would do her dirty work," Elena said with bitterness in her voice.

Greta was absolutely disgusted. Unlike most witches, she did not believe that a creature should die just because they were different. She certainly didn't condone the cold-blooded murder of an infant. Witches like the one Elena mentioned, and like her father, were why she chose to leave her family and help Klaus. "On behalf of all witches, I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that."

"Thank you. Luckily for me, my adoptive mother refused to let her husband or his brother kill me like they wanted," Elena said. It saddened her, but she stopped seeing Grayson as her father a while ago. She still loved him, but she couldn't think of a man who wanted to murder her as her father. Elijah was her father. He had done nothing but protect her from the moment they met. He deserved that title.

"Why'd you get in the car with Klaus? You could've stopped him. I can sense your power. It's strong," Greta said.

"Well, I'm still really new at it, but it wouldn't matter if I wasn't. I would've gone with him anyway. I'm not a doppelganger, but I can still break his curse," Elena said.

Greta shook her head. "Klaus has had me searching everywhere for a way to end his curse without the use of a doppelganger. There isn't one."

"There is. It was just well hidden. Klaus' mother didn't want his curse broken, so she ensured he couldn't do it any other way than with a doppelganger, which would've ended up being a double-edged sword. She hid the spell that would give him everything he wanted," Elena explained.

"And you found it. That seems a bit convenient. Why should I believe you?" Greta asked.

"I have no reason to lie. I'm not a doppelganger. Klaus can't use me," she said.

"No, but that doesn't mean he won't kill you anyway just on principle. Say I believe you about the spell. Why would you want to do this? Why would you help someone you don't know?" Greta asked. There was something this girl wasn't telling her. There was a reason she was doing this.

"I'm a hybrid too. My magic was blocked because a witch didn't want me having access to it. It was just that she didn't have the power to take it from me completely. I also know what it's like to have a mother that would intentionally cause you harm. His mother stripped him of a part of who he was. Mine tried to have me murdered. I'm not sure which of us had a worse mother," Elena said. She hoped that would be enough for the other witch. She was going to need Greta's cooperation, if for no other reason than to help her convince Klaus.

"Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure you win that contest, honey. What's the real reason?" Greta asked. Again, she could tell there was something Elena wasn't telling her. There was more to this story. She'd risked her life going with Klaus. She didn't just do that because she felt empathy to a complete stranger.

"That is the real reason. It's just not the only one. Alright, I'll tell you, but Klaus can't know what I'm about to tell you until after I break the curse. He might try to stop me," Elena said. Also, if Klaus didn't try to stop her, her dad would probably kill him when he found out he let her do it. Plausible deniability would be best for him, and even that might not be enough to quell her father's rage.

Greta only raised an eyebrow in response. She seriously doubted Klaus would try to stop the girl if she was telling the truth about this spell. He wanted that curse broken more than anything.

"You know that my father is a vampire, but he's not just some random vampire. My dad is Elijah Mikaelson," Elena said.

After a moment to process the shock of Elena's words, Greta laughed. Klaus had kidnapped his brother's daughter, and he didn't even know it. She didn't know Elijah Mikaelson's, but she'd heard enough stories about him to know that he wasn't to be trifled with. Even Klaus, who believed he was stronger than his brother, had said that there was only so far he would push his older brother. "Oh, wow! You've managed to pull a good one over Klaus. I've got to see his face when you tell him. Alright, honey. Tell me your plan."

Elena smiled and did just that.
