"Who knew so many animals could be created?" Adam patted the horse's snout as he fed it a carrot. "You like that, don't you?"

"But wait! There's more!" Luci waved his fingers around in the air like a magician. "Take a look at this little guy!"

He reached out his hands to Adam, revealing within his palms a small yellow bird with webbed feet.

"He's so adorable!" Adam stroked the top of the bird's head. It let out a loud quack in return.

"Isn't he? And just look at his widdle feet!" Luci cooed before handing it over to Adam. "Okay, so what's his name? I've been waiting to know!"

Luci grinned up at Adam, practically bouncing on his heels as he awaited his answer.

"Hmm." Adam tapped his chin in deep thought. "Hmmm..."

"Hey, Adam! Duck!" a voice shouted in the distance.

"What?" Adam turned to see Lilith running towards him, her eyes wide and blonde hair flowing in the wind behind her.

"I said, duck!"

Before he could even process what she meant, an object struck him right across the face and startled the bird into flying out of his hands and onto Luci's shoulder.

"Oof." Luci sucked in a breath through his teeth. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine." Adam blinked and picked up the object from the ground, turning it over in his hands. It was spherical and smooth. "It didn't even feel like anything."

Lilith finally reached them and took the object from his hands. "Sera gave this to me and said we could use it to throw around. The rule of the game is to not let it hit the ground. I wanted to show it to you, but when I saw you had that bird in your hands and weren't going to look up in time-"

"Duck!" Adam pointed at the bird resting on Luci's shoulder.

Lilith tilted her head and frowned. "Yes? I told you to duck, which didn't seem to help at all."

Adam laughed. "No, what I meant is that that bird should be called a duck."

Luci let out an audible gasp, his red eyes gleaming even brighter than usual. "I love it, I love it, I love it!"

"Thank you." Adam beamed down at him before turning to Lilith. "Is that what you wanted to come ask me? If you wanted me to come play with the sphere?"

"Yes, this game does require two people after all." Lilith spun the sphere on top of her index finger, a suggestive twinkle in her eye. But Adam didn't seem to take notice of it at all, instead turning back to Luci.

"Okay, I'm almost done with naming the animals. What's the next one?"

"Well, I can help." Lilith took a step forward, placing herself squarely in between her husband and Luci. "That way, you can finish faster and we can go play."

"Nah, it's okay. I got it. Besides, you need to finish your chores." Adam started to walk away with Luci beside him. But Lilith grabbed his shoulder and spun him back around to face her. Her slender arms were crossed over her chest, and even Adam could tell there was a strained smile on her face that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"I did finish my chores. That's why I went to Sera because I didn't know what else to do."

Adam sighed, not sure why his wife was so insistent about this. "Okay, I'm sure there's something else you can do. Naming the animals is what I'm supposed to do."

Luci's eyes shifted back and forth between the couple, slowly starting to back away from them. "Uh... I think I heard Michael calling my name. Have fun, you two!"

And with that, his wings appeared out of the back of his robe before he shot up into the air and disappeared.

Adam's face fell at the angel's sudden exit. They were having such a good time too. Luci really knew how to make the spectacular even more of a spectacle with his boundless optimism and charisma.

"Alright, fine." Lilith let her arms fall to her sides. "Can I at least see the animals you've named already?"

Whatever unsettling feeling Adam was feeling quickly dissipated at his wife's question. "Yes! Of course! You're going to love them!"

He grabbed her hand and led her toward a savanna filled with dozens of different animals nearby. Adam pointed to the animal with the long snout and tail that was grazing and said, "This is called a horse."

Lilith nodded her head and smiled. "It's a fitting name for such a beautiful creature."

Adam wrapped an arm around her shoulder and grinned. "Then just wait until you see the long-neck horse."

Lilith furrowed her perfectly trimmed brows. "The what?"

"The long-neck horse." He pointed to an animal up ahead. It was covered in brown spots and had an extremely long neck, which it used to munch on the leaves of a tree.

"Oh." was all Lilith had to say. Adam figured it was because his amazing creativity had left her speechless.

"If that blows your mind, then just take a look at the black and white striped horse!"

Adam spread his arms to the side to show off the animal he called a "black and white striped horse."

"Um, Adam?" That same strained expression returned to Lilith's face. "While I think horse is a beautiful name, don't you think it's... derivative?"

"What do you mean?" Adam scratched the side of his head. He couldn't understand how she could say it was a beautiful name, but then immediately say something that contradicted that.

"I just mean, you could be a little more creative."

Now, he really didn't understand what she meant. This was him being creative. Why didn't she like the names?

"Like that tall one over there, what about calling it a giraffe?" Lilith glanced towards the creature, seemingly not noticing the visible confusion etched on his face. "And the black and white striped one, zebra sounds a lot better, don't you think?"

Adam made a clicking sound with his tongue. "Yeah, I guess."

But on the inside, he didn't think the names were that much of an improvement. In fact, they sounded pretentious.

"What about that creature with the two antlers? Please don't tell me you decided to call it an antlered horse." Lilith shot her husband a deadpan look.

"Of course not!" Adam doubled over in laughter. There was no way he was going to tell her he had actually called it a horned horse.

"Anyway, I'm hungry now." He decided to change the topic before Lilith ended up erasing his hard day's work. "Think you could make me some dinner?"

Lilith's head whipped around so fast that Adam felt the breeze from her long tresses across his skin. Her normally wide eyes were narrowed into slits as she stared at him.

"You mean, do you think we can make some dinner? Right?"

Adam paused, letting out an involuntary gulp. "Yeah, yeah, that's definitely what I meant."

Giving a satisfied hum, Lilith turned back around and started walking towards their grove. Adam followed behind her in silence, still trying to figure out what was with her. She hadn't been like this yesterday. So what had changed?

While they prepared their dinner, these were the thoughts that haunted Adam. He wondered if one of the angels might be able to answer his questions. Luci seemed like a smart guy. Surely, he would know what was going on with Lilith.

Speaking of Luci, he had reappeared in front of them, holding some sort of golden instrument.

"Did someone request a little entertainment?" Luci raised the instrument and started moving the bow with his other hand across the strings. High-pitched notes flowed out of the instrument, and Adam's ears had never had the privilege of hearing something so sweet. Any previous thoughts he had about Lilith vaporized from his mind. The only thing that mattered was the music Luci was playing.

Even Lilith seemed to be affected by the music because as soon as Luci finished, she burst into applause. "Again! Again!"

"Oh, you flatter me." Luci's grin grew even wider. "But if you insist!"

He started playing even faster this time. So fast that Adam thought the strings were going to break right off.

Lilith inched closer to Luci and opened her mouth. Another harmonious sound filled the evening air, one so ethereal it was enough to take Adam's breath away. Combined with Luci's instrument, this was truly music made for the heavens.

When they completed their harmony, it was Adam's turn to clap. "That was amazing! Lilith, where did that even come from?"

"I don't even know!" Her expression was just as awestruck as Adam's. "I just felt something deep within me and that I had to open my mouth to let it out!"

"That, my dear humans, was called singing." Luci pointed with his bow.

"Wow, singing," Adam repeated, still in amazement. "I want to try it. Hey, Luci, you're going to have to teach me how to play... that!"

Luci glanced at the instrument he was holding. "You mean the violin?"

Adam nodded his head, a bright smile still on his face.

"I'll be honest, you don't strike me as a violin type of guy. But what about something else?" Luci suggested. "Something like the lute?"

"I have no idea what that is, but it sounds awesome!"

Luci chuckled at Adam's enthusiasm. "It is awesome. Alright, then I will teach you how to play the lute!"

"Wait, I want to learn how to play something too!" Lilith's hand shot in the air.

"Hm." Luci studied her for a second. "The ocarina would be perfect for you!"

After Lilith agreed to this, Luci picked up his bow again and asked, "Now that that's settled, how about another song?"

As Adam listened to Luci play the violin all night long, he couldn't help but gaze up at the stars and smile. He had the most beautiful woman as his wife and the most entertaining angel as his friend. He called this paradise his home and he was meant to rule over all of it.

Life couldn't be any more perfect.
