Breach Between Worlds

AN:... Whelp, here it is. This is probably the longest chapter in this fic by far.

The first thing Ruby was able to perceive was a loud noise. The next thing she was able to do was see the ruins of the hole that the train had made when it crashed into the wall. Finally, the people of Vale who were looking at the scene, not understanding what was going on.

But then she also saw the rest of her team getting back up along with all of their Blades. Whatever injuries they may have sustained had been healed, if how they were getting back up so soon was any indication. And then something crashed out of the debris right behind them. It was a King Taijitu, along with other kinds of Grimm. Which immediately went after the citizens.

"Dammit!" Dragunov growled as the beasts were currently ignoring the huntresses and their Blades in favor of more terrified non-combatants. "Roze! I need some wind into my fire!" the dragon shouted as he made two large fireballs appear in his palms.

Choosing not to question, Roze quickly stumbled towards the fellow Blade and started channeling wind into the fireballs. All the while Team RWBY and the other two Blades started attacking the Grimm. Prioritizing those that were attacking the citizen that didn't realize to run away.

"That's enough," Dragunov said as he now had essentially two incendiary bombs in his hands. "Now go and save as many as you possibly can," the dragon said, even as Roze already took off. "As for me," Dragunov thought as he glanced at the two streets that led out of this plaza. The citizens were running towards them with Grimm right behind them. And then Dragunov threw the fireballs.

With the running citizen, one poor lad had stumbled in his panic right past the entrance to the plaza. Daring to look back, the poor young man saw a beowolf running towards him, intent on ripping him to shreds. "I don't wanna die!" The man yelled as he curled into a ball, waiting for the inevitable. Only to hear sound of explosion and Grimm cries which soon died down. After few seconds of nothing happening, the young man dared to look, and he saw what looked like a sea of flames blocking the way to the plaza. Not questioning his luck, the young man quickly got up and ran away.

Inside the plaza, Dragunov nodded in satisfaction at his and Roze's combined efforts. "Those flames will last for a while. Hopefully, by the time they die out, we have killed all Grimm, or at least gotten reinforcements," the draconic Blade thought as he glanced at the two large patches of fire that were now blocking entries to the plaza.

As this was happening, Nox was picking up any citizens that didn't make it out and carried them to the roof tops. Unfortunately, despite his and the other's best efforts, some civilians still fell prey to the Grimm.

But that was the least of their problems right now, because now that the easy prey is gone, they started focusing on team RWBY.

Back at Beacon, a few minutes earlier. Jaune had been worried about a call from Ruby that suddenly got cut off.

"Milord, surely team RWBY is fine." Joana said, knowing what her lord Driver must be thinking. They had their own mission today to worry about, so they needed to stay focused.

"But then why did their call end so suddenly?" Jaune wondered aloud.

"Butt-dial probably," Nora responded happily skipping.

Then Electra lightly pulled on Nora's skirt to gain her attention, "Nora, what does 'butt-dial' mean?"

"It's when a person dials with their butt," Nora said with a grin.

"How do you do that?" Electra then asked, sounding a little more interested than was probably necessary.

"Electra," Ren piped up, "The term, 'butt-dial', came from when someone accidentally called a person when their scroll was in their back pocket when they sat down for example." The black-haired gunner really didn't feel like explaining this, but he didn't want Nora to accidentally put any weird thoughts into Electra's head.

"Oh, okay," Electra responded happily.

"Boo." Nora jeered at her fun being ruined.

Ignoring that little moment, Pyrrha decided to turn towards her team leader, "Jaune, I'm sure they're fine."

"Those girls aren't pushovers," Talos commented. "Besides, they have their Blades, what could possibly happen?"

As if to prove Talos wrong, they started hearing the alarm blaring in the city of Vale. Followed by the alarms at Beacon blaring off, which made Nora and Electra cover their ears.

"Did something happen in the city?" Joana questioned with a worried look.

"We're changing our mission guys," Jaune said as he started running to the airship that was supposed to take them to that village. With that, everyone ran to the ship. However, before entering it, Jaune grabbed Ren's shoulder to gain his attention. "Ren, we'll get to that village later," Jaune assured his friend. The said friend nodded in acknowledgement before they too got in.

"Take us to the city," Joana shouted to the pilot who did as commanded.

Back with team RWBY and their Blades. With all the civilians they had managed to save out of the way, the Grimm were now circling the four Drivers and Blades.

"So…anyone have a plan here?" Dragunov asked, not having thought about the Grimm that were preparing to swarm them when he locked them in

"Does, kicking butt and saving the city count?" Ruby asked, her silver eyes never leaving her enemies.

"...Good enough," Dragunov shrugged, before he charged at the Grimm head on. Each member of team RWBY and the other Blades following his example.

Yang decided to start by using a Creep as a stepladder to launch herself into the air and fire explosive rounds from Ember Celica, decimating any Grimm below. Then as she re-cocked her gauntlets a flock of tiny nevermores swooped on her, slamming her down to the ground. Except, Dragunov found a moment to catch her, even as he crushed several Grimm torsos with a good ol' tail-swipe.

"I thought you said you didn't need any more of my help," Dragunov mocked about what Yang said a few seconds ago.

"Shut up and put me down!" Yang commanded in anger. Not wanting to hear that right now.

"Okay." Dragunov grinned before dropping Yang on her butt.

"Asshole," the blonde grumbled as she got back up. While Dragunov grabbed a beowolf, that thought this was a golden opportunity to eat the human girl, by the head.

"Did I say you can eat her?" Dragunov growled playfully, before crushing the poor thing's head.

As this was happening, Weiss was slicing and stabbing any of the Grimm that dared to approach her. While Dahlia kept throwing her bitball at any Grimm dumb enough to try and get close. Sometimes the saw-bladed ball bounced off of multiple Grimm before returning to the ice Blade.

Blake had just stabbed a Beowolf through its head from beneath before switching Gambol to its pistol mode and started firing on the incoming Grimm. While Nox weaved through the beasts while slicing their necks. His amber eye with the now X-shaped pupil moved around wildly as he kept track of the remaining Grimm. It was like a targeting reticle searching for the next target.

With Ruby, she and Roze were working in tandem to defeat any Grimm. It honestly looked more like the two had invented a new dance rather than fighting. Especially when they separated out of an Ursa's way before Ruby stabbed it in the stomach, and Roze stabbed it in the back at the exact same time.

Then the two heard loud hissing from behind. Roze and Ruby turned around to see the black head of King Taijitu staring down at them. Next thing they know, they heard an explosion in the distance that earned, not just their attention, but the snake Grimm's too. It was Nora who had used Magnhild to launch herself towards the snake Grimm.

Roze's eyes widened as he saw a little detail on Nora's back. Electra was latched onto her orange haired Driver's back, laughing alongside Nora at the fun ride. "Ruby, we have to move!"

"Whuh? Hey!" Ruby exclaimed at being lifted by the waist and carried off away from the carnage that was about to unfold.

"NORA SMASH!" Nora shouted out as she brought Magnhild down on the black snake head with who knows how much increased strength. Well, it was enough to create a small shockwave that would've thrown Roze and Ruby to their butts, if Roze hadn't grabbed Ruby and moved away from it.

"That was fun!" Electra shouted out happily.

"Yeah! Let's do that again sometime," Nora promised her Blade, before taking on a savage grin, "But first, let's get rid of the Grimm."

"Okay, Nora," Electra replied happily, as if they weren't going to go and kill dangerous monsters.

Just when Electra finished that sentence, the rest of team JNPR and their Blades jumped off the airship.

"Let's move," Pyrrha shouted out, signaling the team to move out, alongside their respective Blades.

"I suppose now is the time to show my power," Otohime said with a small smile as she raised one hand to summon her weapon. It was large cylindrical with a handle at the top and another at the side with a trigger. The weapon was covered with various waterflowers, water lilies, lotus flowers. Then out of those flowers come several white and red fish shapes, as if they were swimming out of it. Finally, at the tip that was emerging from the school of fish was what looked like the head of a water dragon with its maw open. This is Otohime's Ether Cannon.

"I've been wondering if these Grimm are as much of a threat as everyone makes them out to be," Talos added in as he summoned his Megalance before moving out alongside Pyrrha.

Electra was skipping behind Nora, not even bringing out her weapon yet.

Jaune grumbled a little at Pyrrha stealing his thunder but decided to move out.

"You shall have your chance, milord," Joana said consolingly before unfolding her helmet and summoning her Catalyst Scimitar. "Shall we?" Joana asked in good nature.

"Yeah, sure," Jaune said, with a small smile before shouting out, "Okay, who wants to go first!?" Right after Jaune said that, a large Ursa stomped behind him. Growling at the challenger. The aspiring knight turned slowly to face the towering Grimm. "Riiight, so you're first huh," Jaune said nervously as he slowly backed away from the Grimm.

"Milord, defeating an enemy such as this should be a paltry task for you now," Joana gave what was her idea of encouragement.

Hearing his Blade, Jaune stopped. "Okay, I've done this before. I've done this before," Jaune psyched himself as Joana was ready to step in. But the knightess hoped that she didn't have to. Then With a loud battle cry, Jaune struck the Ursa once, twice, thrice and then he lost track as he was just swinging wildly at the Grimm that took every hit. Then, Jaune dared to look as he had closed his eyes halfway through his slicing spree. The Ursa was still standing... until it keeled over and began disintegrating.

"Well done, milord," Joana said with no small measure of pride, "I had faith in you." The knightess wasn't even lying, she knew that there was a fighter within her lord Driver. It just needed to be dragged out. Sadly, Joana couldn't radiate her pride for long because the proximity alert went off in her visor. So, with impressive speed, Joana turned around, slicing through several Creeps that tried to pounce on her.

As Joana and Jaune moved on to the next opponents, Pyrrha smiled at Jaune's first un-assisted kill. Now that Jaune had successfully killed a Grimm on his own, he would surely be more motivated.

"PYRRHA!" Was the shout that made the Mistral Champion snap out of it before hearing an Ursa Major crying in pain. Turning around, Pyrrha saw Talos' spear lodged into its head.

"What are you doing? Focus!" Talos scolded as he leaped in to retrieve the thrown spear.

"I'm sorry," Pyrrha apologized in embarrassment before moving on.

The golem Blade shook his head at Pyrrha spacing out like that. "I know that Jaune becoming a real man is something to be proud of, but we're in the middle of a battle." Talos thought as he smacked a Beowolf away before stomping on a Creep.

With Nora and Ren. Nora had smacked any Grimm in sight all too happily. Ren was using Stormflower to stab and occasionally fire at the Grimm. Though he did kick one Creep away. As for Otohime, the Grimm were quite literally cannon fodder to the blue energy shots coming from the barrel that looked like a dragon's maw. Although one large Beowolf got close to her, but she lashed its eyes with her tendrils before blasting it's head off. Finally, there's Electra, she was stared down by an Ursa that roared right into her face, scaring the poor girl. Unfortunately for the Ursa, Electra reacts to scary things with her Shieldhammer. It was almost comical to see the little girl smashing an Ursa into paste, while crying in fear.

"ELECTRA!" Nora cried out having heard her Blade crying. The orange haired girl ran to her Blade and wrapped her into a hug. "It's okay, it's okay. I'm here," Nora said soothingly as she stroked Electra's head, the little Blade hugging back. Though Nora knew she had to be careful to not accidentally crush Electra, because the small electric Blade releases a LOT of electricity when she's sad or terrified.

After a moment, Electra released the hug and wiped her tears. "I'm okay now," Electra said with a smile though there were still some leftover tears wanting to spill out.

"What do you say you help me getting rid of these things that made you cry?" Nora suggested with an even more savage grin.

"Okay, I'll do my best," Electra said as she hefted her hammer as easily as Nora hefted hers.

Ren shook his head at the sight, especially when the two seemed oblivious to the fact that Otohime had to focus her fire on Grimm that were attracted to Electra's crying.

"*Tch* There seems to be no end to them," Otohime said in annoyance as she fired the cannon behind her over the shoulder on a leaping Creep.

"As long as that opening is there, I don't think the Grimm will stop coming," Ren commented, having heard his Blade as he stabbed two Beowolves in the neck.

"Nobody move! Junior detectives!" Sun suddenly shouted, having just arrived.

Neptune brought out a badge, "We got badges now so you know it's-" NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR STUPID BADGES!" Dragunov interrupted with a very loud roar, scaring the two dorks, "NOW START HELPING OR GET LOST!"

Sun and Neptune looked very put out by the draconic Blade's unfair rage. But then their eyes went to the sky to witness Atlesian airships coming to help. The mothership opened fire upon the Grimm, while the carriers released Atlas' newest robots to gun at the Grimm. Some of them fell easily, but others like the Boarbatusks were using their mostly armored bodies to ram into them.

But that was the least of everyone's problems. You see, Dragunov's flame barriers had finally gone out. Meaning that nothing was stopping the Grimm from leaving now. Not that they were even trying to right now.

Then to everyone's surprise, a partially broken Atlesian paladin burst out of the concrete in front of a small cluster of Grimm. For everyone's further surprise, Zwei and Pochi jumped out of it. Zwei had one of Pochi's Twin Rings in his mouth, while Pochi had the other and the animal Blade was linked with Zwei. The two jumped straight into two different Beowolves, digging the circular weapons into them. Then the two started zig-zagging between each other on multiple Creeps and beowolves. Until they were being stared down by another Ursa. The Grimm swiped at the two, but Pochi created a barrier to block the attack. Then Zwei managed to jump on his Blade's head before the said Blade flung the corgi at the Ursa. Zwei sliced the Ursa's neck with his ring before doing a frontflip and landing behind the bear-like Grimm. Shortly after, the Ursa collapsed and Zwei gave a happy bark which was muffled by the ring in his mouth.

Meanwhile, Adenine and Oobleck had also gotten out of the snatched mech. The doctor made a few stretches to get the kinks out, which came from the cramped space. The paladins weren't designed for more than one person after all.

"Barty!" Port called out to his friend happily, "How was the trip in the Atlesian mech?"

But it was Adenine who answered, "A little cramped for one human and two Blades. Also, I don't think Barty was comfortable with me sitting on his lap."

"ADENINE!" Oobleck shouted out frantically.

"Ohhohhooo." Port laughed with a knowing look.

"Let's just deal with the problem at hand," Oobleck said quickly, drawing out his thermos/club. Port did the same with his blunderbuss axe. Oobleck used the flamethrower function to create flames for Port to shoot through, which created a storm of fireballs that eradicated more Grimm.

Elsewhere, turns out Port didn't come alone. Team CFVY had also arrived, with their fashionista leader, Coco Adel, moving down Grimm with her minigun that moments ago was a handbag. While the rest of the team was also doing their share of Grimm extermination.

With Sun and Neptune, Sun was using Ryui Bang and Jingu Bang in their gunchuk forms either smacking and occasionally shooting Grimm. The initial awe of the Atlas military coming to assist having worn off. Though he still wasn't happy about Dragunov stealing their thunder with his roaring.

"What an asshole," the monkey faunus grumbled, taking his frustrations out on the Grimm. Then he noticed a little something in the debris. A small black pouch. "What's this?" Sun wondered as he moved in to pick it up. There was something inside the small innocent looking pouch, and Sun being curious decided to open the bag and drop the contents on his hand. Bad move, because what was inside of it was a Core Crystal. The same one Nox had snatched from Torchwick.

Speaking of which, the dark Ninja happened to glance at Sun's direction. And to his horror he saw a Core Crystal already trying to resonate with Sun. Which made Nox pat his sides to confirm that the pouch he had put the Crystal away in was gone. It must've fallen off during the crash.

Nox wasn't the only one who noticed it. Blake also glanced towards Sun to see him falling on a knee from rapid aura exhaustion. "SUN!" Blake shouted out in distress, hoping against hope that Sun had the aptitude, or at the very least would only suffer minor injuries.

Back with Sun, the Crystal then flashed. And the thing that came out of it... was a monkey roughly Sun's height. A silver furred monkey, to be exact, with hand-like feet, green eyes and a mane of upper back lenght hair the same colour as his fur. The monkey was dressed in a tan jinbaori with gold embroideries which was held together with a silver sash. On his feet were a pair of tan hakama pants with the ends of the legs tied to his ankles with gold rings. On his arms were a pair of black armguards with golden lines on it. He had a black and gold bandana tied around his forehead and under the back of his head where his hairline ends. A long silver tail was moving behind him. Finally, on his chest, amidst the opening around the jinabori's neck-hole was the oval shaped Core Crystal, identifying him as a Blade.

The monkey Blade let out a long yawn, "So, I guess you're my new Driver."

"Uhhh…whuh?" Sun said in confusion, sure he knew what that meant, but he never thought he would ever get one.

"Uhh…Driver…you know, the one who awakened me?" the monkey Blade said as a Beowolf was stalking towards him.

"Hey, dude! Behind you!" Sun called out, seeing the approaching Grimm.

"Huh?" The monkey Blade exclaimed as he turned around to face this strange black creature. "Oh, hey there. Could you help me explain to this simpleton the basics of having me?" the monkey Blade asked the Beowolf that was snarling at this creature. "…No?"

Sun dragged a palm down his face as he watched this idiot trying to talk to a Grimm. "Hey! It's a Grimm they don't talk, they kill!" Sun shouted in annoyance.

The monkey Blade turned towards his new Driver in annoyance, "Well why didn't you say so?" Then the monkey extended his hand and summoned a long red pole with round golden tips and seven golden bumps spread evenly along the pole. Before aligning the pole at the Grimm like a billiard player aiming for a cue-ball. "Trickster Style," the Blade said at the snarling beast that raised its claws to strike its prey, before aiming lower with the pole, "No More Babies!" And then he thrusted.

Even Sun winced at the hit the Beowolf took in the crotch. Which was followed by a very strong whack in the Grimm's head. This Blade was pretty tricky if nothing else.

"Did that thing seriously think it could take down me, the Great Wu, Emperor of the Kong Dynasty," the now named Wu said smugly.

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Time out, buddy! Your name…is Wu Kong!?" Sun asked, sounding very incredulous.

"Yup. So, you must've heard of me," Wu said, puffing his chest with pride.

"But I'm Wukong," Sun said, earning an indignant look from the Blade, "Sun Wukong."

It seemed like the self-proclaimed king didn't like that. "Are you mocking me!? Or are you so ashamed of yourself that you decided to copy me," Wu asked, getting in front of Sun's face.

"Wukong has always been my family name, so if anyone's copying, it's you!" Sun argued back in annoyance.

"Say that again!" Wu grabbed the offending punk by his lapel

As this argument was happening, Neptune could only look on in confusion as the Grimm were surrounding both monkeys. But then the blue haired boy snapped out of it as he realized his team leader was about to die in one of the most humiliating ways imaginable. "Sun, look out!" As if on cue, the Grimm pounced on the bickering monkeys.

"We. Are. TALKING HERE!" the two monkeys shouted in unison as the pouncing Grimm were struck away by Sun and Wu with their respective staffs.

Elsewhere, a very irate Glynda Goodwitch was strolling down the street and any Grimm that crossed paths with her were flung away with a flick of her riding crop. After a very tedious task of walking to the breach in the wall, the combat professor used her semblance to quickly restore the wall back to its original state. Barring entry from anymore Grimm.

After that, it didn't take long for the rest of the Grimm to be dealt with.

"I can't believe you caught me," Roman complained as he was escorted into a ship by Emerald and Mercury, "You've really taught me the error of my ways." That last part sounded so faked that no one believed him.

"Does he truly believe that anyone would believe him?" Joana wondered aloud from where teams RWBY and JNPR had gathered.

"If he does, then he must be an imbecile," Otohime commented as she crossed her arms inside her sleeves.

"I'm more worried about the newcomer," Talos commented as he glanced at Sun and Wu who seemed to be in the middle of an argument of some kind. "I wonder if him and Sun are just incompatible," the armored golem couldn't help but wonder.

"Wouldn't Sun have been rejected if that were the case?" Pyrrha pointed out.

"I don't think it works that way," Blake said before turning to face Nox, "Or does it?"

The dark ninja fished out his scroll to answer, "I suppose it's like how people get along with some people easier than others."

Pyrrha nodded at the explanation, seeing as it made sense. And then they heard the airship take off with Roman into one of the larger ships.

"So, what do we do next?" Ruby asked, seeing as they didn't seem to have anything to do right now.

"I guess we could return to Beacon now," Yang suggested, feeling pretty tired now.

"Not yet," Dahlia suddenly said, having turned to a seemingly random direction.

"What do you mean, Dahlia," Weiss asked her Blade, before looking into the same direction. Though the only thing she could see was several buildings.

However, it seemed like Dahlia was ignoring Weiss for a moment before turning to her fellow Blades. "Do you guys feel it too?" The ice Blade sounded a little worried. This earned them some worried looks from their Drivers.

"If you mean ether, then yes," Roze replied turning to the direction Dahlia had turned to not too long ago.

At that moment Sun had walked to the two teams, done with his new Blade's ramblings for now. "What are you guys…what's that?" Sun asked, noticing what looked like a hole was opening in the air. Which was growing bigger and bigger as the time went on.

"What the heck is that?" Coco asked, lowering her shades to make sure she wasn't seeing things.

Soon enough, the hole was larger than five Atlesian Paladins. It seemed to be some kind of swirling darkness. The said darkness swirling like in a whirlpool wanting to suck in whatever went too near. And the Blades could feel a lot of ether leaking out of it.

"I think that hole leads to Alrest," Roze commented.

"Well, no shit," Dragunov added in, "The leaking ether is a dead give-away."

"What're you guys talking about?" Sun asked being very confused about all of this.

However, before anyone could say anything else, a huge bipedal lizard-like monster came through. It was brownish red with pale underbelly. The creature also seemed to have what looked like stones protruding out of its body.

"A Sauros!?" Dragunov exclaimed in disbelief, "Of all the creatures to have come through, it had to be a Sauros!"

"Is that bad?" Yang asked, not sure if Dragunov sounding worried was a very good thing.

"This thing is very strong," the draconic Blade responded, taking a fighting stance alongside the other Blades.

"Is it aggressive?" Weiss asked, drawing Myrtenaster again.

As if to answer, the Sauros gave a mighty roar that could probably be heard miles away from this spot. Before it started charging at the group.

"Scatter!" Ruby cried out, and everyone did as commanded.

The Sauros looked around the scattering prey, having a hard time deciding on which to devour first. Except it started to feel something stinging its body. Turning towards the direction of where the stings were coming from and the source of a strange sound, it saw one of the preys standing with something in its hands that the beast couldn't comprehend. However, the stinging was annoying, so it decided to devour that one first.

Coco was gritting her teeth. This new monster seemed more annoyed by her shots than anything else. And her minigun was able to mow down even giant Nevermores with ease.

"COCO LOOK OUT!" Velvet cried out as she tackled her friend away just in time to avoid the Sauros' jaws.

The beast turned towards the duo with its head still low, but it didn't get far as Yatsuhashi came in to strike the beast away with his greatsword. Sadly, all it did was make the Alrestian beast shake its head momentarily. "Its skin is tough," Yatsuhashi shouted out, noting that his weapon didn't even leave a scratch.

The Sauros was about to try again before it felt something stinging it's back. Looking up the monster saw a strange flying thing that was stinging it like the little morsel from before. Sadly, it couldn't fly, but it could tell where the stings were coming from. But it had no means to reach them on its own.

"What's it doing," Glynda wondered aloud as this "Sauros" reached for one of the abandoned cars and started violently shaking it. And then it released it from its jaws straight towards the Atlesian ship's turret.

To the shock of everyone on board, the Sauros' aim was true and it made the turret unusable. And bombardment wasn't an option with the hunstmen and huntresses down there.

"This is bad," Roze commented with a worried look.

"Roze, what can we do?" Ruby asked as she watched the still grounded Atlesian droids firing upon this thing that looked like a dinosaur from a movie she once watched. But it was almost like the monster didn't even notice it was being shot at. Coco's minigun drew its attention and so did the Atlesian turrets, but anything smaller than that was useless against it.

"I believe the answer is obvious," Roze replied as he offered his scythe to Ruby, "Us Blades must step up alongside our Drivers."

"Yeah, you're right," Ruby said with a small grin as she put Crescent Rose back on the clip at her back and took Roze's scythe. As much as Ruby loves her baby, if the Atlesian weaponry can't stop that Sauros, then what hope does her weapon have.

Speaking of which, the Sauros was now chasing Nora who had used Electra's Shieldhammer to smash its toes. The orange haired ball of energy wasn't sure if she hurt it, but she certainly made it angry.

"NORA LOOK OUT!" Electra cried out, causing Nora to turn towards the approaching tail. Thankfully Nora was able to use the shield function of the hammer before it hit. Against all odds, Nora was able to completely block the attack.

"As expected of a Shieldhammer," Otohime told Ren reassuringly. As much as the water Blade would love letting Nora die, that would make Ren cry and therefore the option was out of the question. "Now, if you wish to assist Nora, you must start shooting," Otohime then told her Driver who was already wielding her Ether Cannon.

That seemed to snap Ren out of his relief as he did as his Blade instructed. And unlike the weapons so far, it looked like ether shots were much more effective than Dust ammo, if the Sauros' cries were any indication.

Then the Sauros felt something stabbing into its back. Craning its head enough, it could see Pyrrha and Talos on its back.

"Great jump, Talos," Pyrrha complimented on her Blade jumping from the ground all the way to the monster's back.

"It was nothing, now start hitting this thing," the metallic Blade had barely finished that sentence before Pyrrha struck the business end of Talos' Megalance into the monster's back.

Inside the ship, Ironwood was furious. Not only did that new monster appear, but it took down the turrets at the bottom. The ship did have missiles and other explosives too but unloading those would also deal damage to the city itself. Not to mention kill the huntsmen and huntresses below. "Am I supposed to just sit here and hope for the best!?" the General growled at the sight of the monster below, that was raging at the pain inflicted on it by student and teacher Drivers alike. That seemed like the only option since the thing didn't seem to even notice the shots coming from Atlesian knights.

Back in the battlefield, Pyrrha finally fell down from the monster's back, right next to its leg. Acting on pure instinct, the Mistral Champion raised Talos' weapon. "Balance Breaker!" Pyrrha exclaimed as she delivered several powerful strikes into the open leg, causing the beast to stumble.

Electra saw this and quickly turned towards her Driver. "Nora, hit it in the leg!" Electra shouted.

"Got it." Nora said with a a very evil look as she dashed to the things leg. "Nora SMASH!" and then she hit the leg with all her might, causing the Sauros to topple over.

"Nora, could you please be more careful!" Pyrrha shouted from a a short distance away. Talos had grabbed her and leaped away from where the beast landed.

"Sorry, Pyrrha," Nora called back, even as the beast was clearly struggling to get back up.

"Everyone, let's strike before it gets back up!" Jaune shouted, already following his own advice with Joana's weapon. Having put Crocea Mors' sword into its sheath which was still in shield mode.

"Indeed, milord." The said knightess agreed just before Jaune delivered the first strike.

With that, everyone else joined the beating. Ruby sliced around with Roze's scythe. Weiss used a glyph to get to the higher ground before using her newly dubbed Snow Fall on it. For some reason, the Sauros roared very loudly at being hit by that attack. All the while Dahlia was proud of her Driver learning an Art. With Blake, the cat faunus had jumped onto its side and moved across the beast's body while slashing away with Nox's Dual Scythes.

"Fever Rush!" Yang called out as she delivered a series firey punches with Dragunov's talons.

Ren was firing Otohime's cannon as fast as he possibly could. Pyrrha was stabbing the beast in the neck with Talos' Megalance.

Of course, every other Driver and team CFVY had joined them on trying to beat this thing before it could get back up. But it wasn't meant to be, because soon enough the Sauros rose to its feet before letting out an ear shattering roar. In fact, every window within several blocks shattered. Not to mention everyone had to cover their ears at the loud sound.

"RUBY!" Roze then shouted as he saw something terrible approaching his Driver, the Sauros' tail. But it looked like Ruby had gone a little deaf, despite covering her ears, because she didn't react. "THORN BARRIER!" Roze cried out just in time before the said ability activated and took the hit, but Ruby was still sent flying against a building.

"YOU MONSTER!" Yang shouted at the Sauros before charging against it head on. The monster responding by opening its maw on Yang, but the blonde bombshell was planning to force it's jaws open before unloading Ember Celica's ammo into its mouth like she did with the Nevermore during the initiation.

"DAMAGE ARMOR!" Dragunov roared just before the beast clamped its jaws around Yang. You see, Yang underestimated the strength the beast had within its jaws and was unable to prevent the beast from trying to devour her. But at least the Damage Armor combined with her aura was more than enough to protect her from that fate…for now.

"Dahlia!" Weiss shouted in distress as she handed the bitball back to Dahlia.

The ice Blade nodded before winding up to use her Crystal Blizzard. And then she threw the ball into the Sauros' neck, which made the beast roar in pain, and by extension, release Yang.

As Dragunov moved in to get his Driver to safety, Otohime had an idea. "Ren, let me follow up on that," the beauty told her Driver. The gunner of team JNPR looked into his Blade's eyes before deciding to trust her and return the cannon to her. With that, Otohime planted her feet firmly into the ground before the dragon maw and the fish mouths on the barrel opened with a blue glow. "Take this, Schooling Rip!" Otohime called out as the mouths fired blasts of water ether in the shape of swimming fish at the Sauros. The beast reeled back from the barrage, before glancing at Ren and Otohime with intent to kill. Unfortunately, Otohime gave a conspirational smile before saying her next piece calmly, "Blade Combo: Cold Snap." And with that, the leftover water gathered around the Sauros' skin before freezing in an instant and then shattering. The Sauros roared in pain of the cold.

As this was happening, Roze had finally made sure that Ruby was okay. Thorn Barrier did block the tailswipe, but Ruby's aura still took damage from being hit against a building. Sadly, the damage reflected from Ruby's small frame was nothing compared to the giant monster.

"Roze, I'm okay, seriously," Ruby said, appreciating her Blade's concern, but he looked like he was…overreacting a little.

Roze's retort was cut off by glancing at what made the Sauros roar, and then he saw that the beast had taken damage from Blade Combo. Cold Snap if he wasn't mistaken. Which earned a smirk from the wind Blade who was having plans of vengeance in his head. "Ruby, can I attack that beast?" Roze asked his Driver.

Ruby was almost surprised by Roze's request but remembering the problem at hand... "Make it hurt," Ruby said as she gave Roze his scythe, the little red reaper felt a little spiteful from being flung against a building.

"Alright then," Roze said all too happily before vanishing and practically teleporting around the beast with every strike out of what looked like thousands. Until... "Ravaging Rose." Roze said simply from where he started, next to Ruby, as rose petals burst out of the beast from every spot the reaper Blade had hit. It almost looked like a fountain of blood, if the red thing coming out of the Sauros weren't rose petals. Ruby was about to squeal, before she noticed Roze smiling wider. Even his empty white eyes reflected bloodlust Ruby had never seen on him before. "Blade Combo: Dead of Winter." Roze said ominously.

Ruby opened her mouth to question what that was before she felt the temperature drop. Then the Sauros roared as a furious blizzard enveloped its body for a few seconds.

"HOLY SHIT!" Yang shouted out at the freezing temperature and the beast being wrapped in a blizzard.

"LANGUAGE!" Ruby found it in herself to shout, despite the awesomeness in front of her.

Everyone else also looked awed at the display of the complete Blade Combo. Which was broken as everyone noted something, the Sauros was panting and clearly had hard time moving now.

"Guys, we can kill it!" Jaune then shouted out, which was all the encouragement everyone needed.

But then the Sauros started running out of the Plaza.

"Hey! It's running away!" Nora shouted out like someone just said something offensive.

"We can't let that thing get out of here!" Weiss shouted out, as she and everyone else ran after the fleeing beast.

"Team CFVY! Neptune and Sun!" Port shouted, earning the respective students' attention, "You stay here, there's no telling what else could come through that hole." Indeed, the "hole" that the Sauros came from was still open... In fact, it's a miracle that nothing else had come through yet.

"Okay, sir," Velvet responded for the rest of her team.

Wu gave the hole an apprehensive look, "I do wonder where in Alrest that hole leads to."

"Dude, what the heck is Alrest?" Sun asked, getting tired of this thing spouting non-sense.

"...I'm stuck with an idiot," Wu lamented, causing Sun to look just about ready to burst.

With the teams chasing the Sauros, the beast didn't run far out of the plaza before ramming its body against the buildings, causing portions of them to fall on them.

"YANG!" Dragunov roared.

"I got it!" Yang shouted back and the two wound up their fists before punching the debris falling upon them away with great force.

Ruby grabbed Roze before using her semblance to blitz through an opening to get above the falling debris.

Weiss and Dahlia created a sturdy ice dome around themselves, Ren, Nora and their respective Blades.

Talos acted as Pyrrha's shield, seeing as his body is made of metal.

"This thing is probably stronger than an Ancient Goliath," Port said, his usually jolly voice now dead serious as he used his Blade's Greataxe to slice a piece of debris.

"Probably," Oobleck commented as well, avoiding several more.

As the teams and teachers were avoiding a death by debris, the Sauros' advance was stopped by several large explosions right in front of it.

"The target has stopped, sir," said one of the crew members on the bridge of Ironwood's ship.

"Good work," Ironwood complimented, even though he had hoped the missiles would've hit the beast itself. The only silver lining about the wreck here is that the moment the alarm went off, all the occupants in the houses had evacuated to the shelter... At least, that was the report that the general had heard. Unfortunately, the beast was now running back towards the recovering Beacon students and staff. "Is that thing aware that we don't want to harm them?" Ironwood thought with gritted teeth. As much as he didn't want to admit it, this beast seemed more intelligent than Grimm.

"Sir, we have reports of a large horde of Grimm approaching!" another crewmember shouted.

"What!?" Ironwood shouted out.

"It's the beast," Another one said frantically," The citizens heard its roars and are terrified in the shelter."

"We need to take that beast down," Ironwood said with a hard look. Once the news of the monster's death reached the shelters, that should calm the citizen down. "Please... kill it fast," Ironwood practically pleaded in his head. But in the meantime," Order all available ships to suppress the approaching Grimm!" was the command Ironwood broadcasted to all the available ships.

Back in the now quite literally warzone, the Sauros was charging at the students and their Blades.

"Milord!" Joana shouted, extending her hand. Understanding what his Blade wanted to do, Jaune tossed the Catalyst Scimitar to its owner. The knightess raised it high into the air, before the hardlight blade started glowing and growing in length. "Holy... Sword!" And then Joana brought the lenghtened blade of light on the Sauros, wounding it considerably.

Meanwhile, a section of the ice dome exploded as Ren fired upon it to get them out of there. "Perfect timing, you two," said Talos who had followed Pyrrha to Jaune's side, "We need Electra to follow up."

The little girl instantly perked up at the idea. "Oohhh! Nora, I wanna go! I wanna, I wanna, I wanna!" Electra hollered, bouncing in place as she did.

"Are you sure?" Nora asked in concern, surprising everyone, even Ren was shocked.

Otohime rolled her eyes. "Nora, Electra is not just a little girl. She is a Blade, and just as adequate in combat as any of us," The water Blade scolded the orange haired girl.

Nora frowned at the lady she doesn't like, but she gave Electra a toothy grin regardless. "Break it's legs," Nora said with a savage grin as she handed Electra her hammer.

"Okay!" Electra said with a cheerful salute as she flung the hammer over her shoulder. And then she dashed at the raging Sauros with her hammer charging electricity. The Sauros' attention was immediately drawn to the little blonde girl. The thing attempted to take a bite out of her, but Ren managed to distract it by shooting at its head. Which gave Electra the necessary opening to approach its leg. "Shockiiiiiing Assault!" Electra shouted happily before charging at one leg and hitting it with all the strength and electricity she had mustered. Sure enough, the beast was crying in pain. And everyone was pretty sure that they heard the bone snap. An asssumption which was supported by the Sauros now limping. But that wasn't yet the worst of it, "Blade Combo: Lightning Bolt!" Electra cheered as the said bolt came out of nowhere from the cloudless sky.

"WAY TO GO, ELECTRA!" Nora cried out happily as the said Blade practically skipped back to her Driver.

"What element finishes that combo?" Weiss then asked Dahlia.

"Fire," the ice Bunny replied as she glanced at Dragunov.

The said fire Blade opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted by barking. It was Zwei running towards them with Pochi in tow. This gave Dragunov an idea, "Hey, Pochi! What element are you?"

The animal Blade was a little confused by the question, "Fire, why?"

"Drag, are you really gonna ask Pochi to finish the combo?" Yang asked skeptically, she would've thought that her Blade would want to finish this off with a yang.

"Yang, the finishing move must be level 3 at minimum," Blake reminded Yang, "And you remember how much damage his does." Although many of the buildings were already reduced to rubble, who's to say Dragunov can't make it worse.

"She's right," Dragunov said with a grim look," As much as I would like to use Burning Rage, it's far too powerful for such an enclosed area."

Before Yang could argue, Zwei barked something, which made Pochi perk up, "You got it, Boss!" And then Pochi took one Ring into his mouth, while the other floated near him. Then he dashed at the Sauros that was trying to stomp on the animal Blade. But Pochi was able to avoid it, "Screw Edge!" Pochi called out before striking with the Ring in his mouth, followed by the floating Ring slashing at the Sauros, before Pochi backed off.

"...That was lame," Yang commented in disappointment. Then again, after witnessing flashy level 3s like Roze's or Dragunov's, you can't really blame her.

But then, Pochi smirked, "Blade Combo: Second Sun!" And with that, an enormous fireball was formed in the air before pressing itself against the Sauros. The beast cried in pain for but a moment before it died out. And most of the beast's body between its head and tail were incinerated.

"...I take it back," Yang said in awe at the complete Blade Combo.

"Doesn't matter how strong the level 3 is, just as long as it's level 3," Dragunov commented with a grin. Even though part of him did want to use Burning Rage... Dragunov wasn't sure of the damage he could've caused.

"Pochi, you were AWESOME!" Ruby cried out as she dashed in to hug the beast Blade.

"I just did what Boss told me to," Pochi replied easily, which earned several barks from Zwei. "Thanks, Boss," Pochi replied to his Driver. Roze looked on at this exchange with jealousy in his white eyes. Still, the reaper Blade was happy that this was now over.

At the Beacon Cliffs some time later, Team RWBY and their Blades were sitting at the edges with their legs dangling down.

"...I guess we did do it," Blake said even though she didn't sound very happy.

"If we don't get extra credit I will be disappointed," Weiss said with a small smile.

Ruby didn't share the white-haired girl's thoughts, "Weiss a giant monster crushed several buildings, I don't think we'll get any." Then the red reaper looked down, "Besides…people died."

"It couldn't have been helped," Dragunov sighed from his perch next to Yang.

"Why not?" Ruby asked with a small glare at the casual way Dragunov said it.

"Because we can't save every single life, no matter how much we want to," Roze replied with a sigh, before smiling a little, "All we can really do is take comfort in how many we did manage to save." As he said that, the reaper Blade wrapped one arm around Ruby for support. Something the little red reaper appreciated.

"That's true," Dahlia also said, stroking Weiss' head lightly.

"Not to mention we didn't get all the answers," Blake added her lien into the mix.

"We may not always find all the answers, but we did stop a major crisis." Nox showed on his scroll. "Although, I am not very certain that we will be as fortunate next time."

"You're talking about that mystery hole," Yang said as she allowed herself to fall on her back. "Yeah, glad it closed." Indeed, the hole that opened in the air closed shortly after the Sauros was defeated. More importantly, nothing else came through it.

"...I wonder if anyone's wondering about it?" Ruby then asked in worry, "I mean, I would like to visit another world, but... I don't know if I could come back."

"...Visiting Alrest?" Weiss asked with an incredulous look, "Who knows what kind of dangers exist there."

"Or if there are even people there," Blake said, although she says that, the cat faunus was wondering what kind of people inhabit Alrest if there are also monsters that strong.

"I wish we could answer that," Dahlia said with an apologetic look.

From there, the conversation drifted to speculation on what kind of place Alrest could be.

In Ozpin's office, the headmaster of Beacon was having a rough time.

"Ozpin! Are you listening?" Asked a voice from the screen on his desk.

"Yes, Councelor, I'm listening," Ozpin said fixing his face to neutral.

"The Vytal Festival cannot be broadcasted, let alone held, if we can't ensure the safety of the citizen," The Counsilor spoke up, "Which is why we have reached out to Atlas Council and have come to decision to place General Ironwood as the head of security."

At that moment, Ironwood's image appeared on the screen. "Thank you, Councilor," Ironwood said with a small bow of his head.

"Will that be all?" Ozpin asked, ignoring James for now.

"For now," Another member of the Council replied, "But once the Vytal Festival comes to a close, we will have a serious discussion regarding your position at Beacon Academy." With that, the Council cut the call.

"This is the right move Ozpin." said Ironwood who was still connected, "I will ensure our people's safety. And make no mistake, I will put in a good word for you regarding your position." With that, Ironwood cut the call as well.

"That's not what I'm worried about, James." Ozpin thought as he covered his face with his hands. "That's not what I'm worried about."

Meanwhile, around the still partially ruined city, Cinder was looking down from a rooftop. "I would say that this was a success, all things considered," The black-haired woman said with a smile, "That giant monster appearing was a stroke of good luck, I must say."

"But a lot of White Fang got left in the tunnels," Mercury pointed out casually. He didn't care about those psychopaths, it's just that...

"Do you think the White Fang will listen to us afterwards?" Emerald asked.

"No." Said a voice from behind them. The three turned around to see Adam and Perceval. "But they'll listen to me," Adam stated coldly.

Perceval let out a sigh at his Driver's words, "Adam…I fail to see what the point of this operation is. The way I see it, this is just mindless bloodshed."

"Shut up, Perceval," Adam commanded harshly, before turning back towards Cinder, "I would like to know if…whatever those holes are will be a problem." Of course, Adam wasn't referring to the one that the Sauros came from, but rather the ones that had appeared in the wilds randomly with increased frequency.

"They won't be a problem for long," Cinder said with absolute certainty, "Or that's what she told me." Cinder thought the last part in her head.

As this conversation happened a band of mercenaries were walking in a wasteland. There were four people, one was a large man wearing green chest plate, shoulder guards, and boots. With regular pants and a vest underneath them. Strangely, this man had brownish green skin, pointy ears and what looked to be scales on his cheeks. And he was annoyed.

"What the heck was that hole thing," the man growled at the enormous hole that stole their prey.

"How should I know?" A brown haired human in combat gear complained, "And after all the trouble we went through to get those Benoit Nuts."

"What're you two complaining about?" A woman who had features similar to the large man. "The Sauros that threatened that Ardainian camp is gone. I'd say we did our job."

"Yeah, but where did the big beastie go," spoke up a blue round fuzzy creature with stubby arms, legs and tail. And it had what looked like wings draping over its body from the back. It also had beady black eyes and a small mouth.

"Does it matter?" The woman asked in annoyance, "I say we just get the payment, return to Garfont, and report back to Rex."

"If only those nuts would've affected it sooner, perhaps we could've actually killed the beast," the large man sighed, "But I guess there's no use complaining now."

"Seriously though," the human said with a contemplative look, "I heard one of those holes took a fairly large titan that resembled Indol few weeks ago."

"What friend saying?" The fuzzy creature asked. "That one day hole large enough to gobble Great Titan might come?"

"Sheesh, don't say such scary things," the woman complained, but was a little shaken. There was barely enough living space in Alrest as it is. But in all seriousness, these holes had opened up nearly everywhere in Alrest. In the wilds, forests, deserts, heck even a couple just above the Cloud Sea itself were sighted. Strangely, those holes never opened in any of the cities…at least none as far as these four knew. "Let's just go. Come on Kiki!" the woman called to the female Blade behind her before picking up the pace to the direction of the Ardainian camp

"Okay," the Blade named Kiki answered and followed her Driver.

"...I guess there's nothing for it," the large man said before moving to follow the woman as his animal Blade followed him.

"Fine," the human said as he also picked up his pace with his male Blade.

"Why must friends run!?" The fuzzy one complained as he had hard enough time following the three with their normal pace.

AN: Aaaand there. This chapter is called Breach Between Worlds for a reason. Anyway, I hope none of you think that the Sauros fell too easily after reading the last part.

It's not just Remnantians who are puzzled by these holes opening up.

If any of you are wondering why Ironwood would bother putting a good word for Ozpin, it's because it was Ozpin's students that killed the Sauros. And while Ironwood does believe that Ozpin was in the wrong with his methods, that hole was something no one could've predicted.

Edit: I was asked if I had artwork on my OC Blades, the answer is "No". I'm no artist. If anyone could recommend me to a good artist who might do OC commissions, feel free to do so.
