Hello!

Welcome to Operation Lightspeed. So for a little bit of context, this series is slightly crossed over with the Marvel Cinematic universe. I got the idea as the Power Rangers comics are owned by Marvel publishing and wondered what if they were in the same universe? So here is Gina's first story, hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers but boy I wish I did own some kind of tv show.

Operation Lightspeed

The sun slowly began to rise as they drove down the deserted road in the 1962 red chevrolet corvette. Agent Phil Coulson took his eyes off the road and turned to the trainee agent sat in the passenger seat with her feet on the dashboard.

"Hey," he said, gesturing to her feet. "You know the rules, feet off the dashboard."

The young red-haired woman huffed and placed her feet on the floor. "We have been driving for hours," she complained. "I am only trying to get comfortable."

"We shouldn't be on the road for that much longer." Coulson glanced down to the gps system. "We are not that far," he looked up to the road. "Are you feeling, okay?" Coulson waited a moment for a response until he noticed her ship in her seat again. "G?" he used her nickname first. "Gina?"

"What?" she stopped moving and turned her attention to him.

"Are you okay?"

Gina nodded. "I am fine," she yawned. "I am just a little bit tired."

"You have been tired a lot lately!" Coulson commented.

"Tired and sore," she complained. "I will be fine," she tried to reassure him. "Did Fury tell you why we are on loan to lightspeed?"

Coulson shook his head, "no," he answered. "He said there wasn't a lot of information in the request."

"Well, that is typical," said Gina with a roll of her eyes.

"Take it they are always like that?"

"Oh yeah," she nodded and looked out of the window. "It was one of the reasons why I ran away."

"Ah," Coulson wrapped his hand around the steering wheel tighter. "I know that going back to Lightspeed will be tough," he carefully began. "I am here not as your supervising officer but as a friend."

"Thank you," she smiled widely. "AC."

Coulson rolled his eyes, "I wish you didn't call me that..."

"Fine, Phil," she reluctantly said.

"No problem," Coulson glanced down at the gps system and the clock. "You know we might be able to get to the airfield a lot quicker if we used Lola's flight system."

Gina grinned. "Why didn't you say that earlier?"

"Make sure your seatbelt is on," he firmly told her as he flicked the switch, he watched as Gina looked down to the tyres watching them manoeuvre into place. Coulson put his foot down on the accelerator. "Hold on tight!"

Once they have landed at Mariner bay's airfield Coulson and Gina unhooked their seatbelts after Coulson switched off the engine.

"Dana is already here," Coulson noted.

Gina looked up, "who are the people with her?"

"No idea," said Coulson, "let's go and find out," they both get out of the car. Coulson buttoned up his suit blazer as they joined the small group of people waiting for them.

"Gina, Coulson," smiled Dana as she set her eyes on them. "You made it."

Gina stepped back as Dana tried to hug her. "Yeah," she said. "Eventually."

"We took the scenic route," Coulson explained.

Dana starred at them both; Coulson could not help but notice how disappointed she looked at not being able to hug her.

"How much longer do we have to wait?" They were interrupted by the young black man wearing a cowboy outfit.

Dana growled and turned to face him. "Not that much longer now."

Gina turned to see Coulson talking to one of the lightspeed rescue workers reluctantly handing him the keys to Lola. "I don't want to see a scratch on the car," he warned the young man.

Coulson watched carefully as they began to load Lola onto the plane behind them. "Coulson is very protective of Lola," he heard Gina explain.

"Lola?" Dana blinked. "He named the car Lola?"

"Lola is not just a car," Coulson said, "people tend to confuse the words new and improved."

Gina smirked, "See. Told you."

"Shall we get going," Coulson clapped his hands together. The girls giggled as they followed him to the helicopter.

A few minutes later, the far civilians, Coulson, Dana and Gina were all crammed into the helicopter that was travelling across the ocean.

Carter looked down then to Dana with a smile as he pointed at something. "Don't tell me," he yelled over the noise. "We are going into that submarine, aren't we?"

Kelsey quickly stood up along with Chad resting her hands on Carter and Coulson's laps to keep it steady. "Excellent," she smiled.

'Civilian crew and authorised personnel have entered Lightspeed Aqua base,' the Tannoy systems announced as they walked into the base. 'Security clear ance has checked and confirmed.'

Chad looked around, "where are we?"

"I don't know but it's cool," Kelsey smiled as she patted his chest. "Huh?"

Dana looked at Gina, "has it changed at all since you were a kid?"

"A little bit," she mused as she got a good look around, "The people and the technology has changed-but everything else remains the same."

They had only just made it to the corridor when the alarms began to blare throughout the entire base. Coulson stopped walking and quickly head counted the rangers. "I think we are missing one person," he said.

"Joel," she growled, spinning around on her heel, Dana walked straight back into the control rooms to glaring at the sky cowboy in annoyance as she disabled the alarm system.

Joel tried to say something but was dragged by the lapel of his blazer towards the group and shoved him so he was standing next to Coulson and Gina.

"You couldn't help yourself, could you?" Gina chuckled as they continued walking.

Joel shook his head, "It was right there."

"Welcome," the man waiting for them in the office smiled as they walked into the room, "to the lightspeed aqua base."

Carter, Kelsey, Chad, Coulson and Dana stood perfectly still whilst Joel stormed past them almost colliding with Carter. "Pardon me," he patted Carter's chest "I don't know who you are," he began to say as he got right up close to the man, "but this is illegal. this is kidnapping."

The man stood perfectly still without blinking. "I am Captain William Mitchell," he told Joel with a smile, "None of you will be held against your will, you are free to go."

"See-ya," Joel mock-saluted, he spun around and began to walk at of the room.

Captain Mitchell nodded towards Colson who quickly stepped in front of the door to stop him.

Coulson watched as Joel starred him down, "At least hear what he has to say," he told Joel. "If you don't like it then you can leave."

''Fine," Joel eventually gave in and re-joined the group.

"Please," Captain Mitchell gestured to the seats. "Take a seat," he watched as they all sat down. Coulson stood up behind Gina's chair and began to tell his story. "Five thousand years ago, this part of the earth was inhabited by evil spirits, demons, if you will, whose sole purpose was to destroy and conquer."

Gina leaned back in her chair, "here we go again, "she muttered under her breath, whilst the captain had his back turned Carter looked at her. "I have heard this before."

"The rest of us have not heard it." Coulson gently reminded her, tapping her shoulder.

The captain continued his story, "Luckily, there was a warlock who was strong enough to conquer them and finally they were entombed but we'd always fear that one day they would escape and return to Mariner Bay. well, it seems our fears have come true," Captain Mitchell lowered his head, "Just hours ago, Nomad travellers crossing the desert discovered the tomb and released the demons back into our world."

"Oh, great," muttered Gina earning a look from the captain as he turned around.

"Lightspeed has developed technology and sophisticated weapons that we believe can stop them," he walked to the part of the table that held a case with the Lightspeed rescue logo on the top and some files next to them.

Dana leaned forward and began opening their files placing the files that belonged to each of them down flat on the table, "because of your skills, you have been chosen to use these weapons to defend the city," he paused for a moment. "To become Lightspeed Power Rangers."

"You built this whole, aquabase," Kelsey gestured to the room. "So that the five of us can fight of a bunch of angry demons?"

"Well... Uh," Captain Mitchell turned to Dana amazed at the way Kelsey had summed it up. "that's putting it simply but uh, yes."

Joel lifted his head up. "I heard you out,'" he began, clenching his hands together "I think you're nuts." he stood up, "I am out of here."

"Wait," Carter called, causing Joel to stop by the door. "That explains it..."

Dana looked at Carter. 'What?'

"The fire," he told her. "When I was saving that girl, I saw something in the flames," he turned to Joel, "It was one of them," he looked straight at the captain with determination. "One of the demons."

Gina looked at Carter as Dana and Captain Mitchell spoke quietly between them, "Are you sure?"

"Positive," he firmly replied. Then they heard a beep from the computer in the corner of the room.

Dana rushed over and grabbed the communicator passing it over to her dad. "Mitchell here."

"What is happening?" Kelsey asked, looking back and forth frantically.

Captain Mitchell sighed, "put it on the monitor."

"Put what..." before Chad could even finish his sentence the footage of the demons destroying the city began to show on the monitor. They all watched hopelessly as scenes of injured people, and some trapped under rubble was shown.

Captain Mitchell timed to face them. "The city needs you," he said.

"I'm in," Carter stood up first.

Gina stood up straight after him and said, "me too."

"Me three." Kelsey agreed.

Chad stood up, "count me in!"

They all turned to face Joel, who looked at the footage, then to Captain Mitchell and the group of people who he just met feeling slightly overwhelmed. "What do we do first?"

Captain Mitchell smiled, walking up to the silver case and opened it up, "these are your rescue mothers." he explained, spinning the case around to show them. "They are worn on your wrist."

"'Six?" Dana questioned after watching them all grab one.

"You are the sixth."

"Me?" Dana watched as he opened her own file to show her.

"For eighteen years," he said. "I have been training you for this. It's yours. If you want it."

Dana grinned widely and nodded. She took the morpher out of the case and strapped it around her waist, walking over to Gina, she stood straight next to her.

"Alright rangers," said Captain Mitchell as Coulson moved to stand next to him. "It's time to get to work."

~0~

"These are your jackets," said Dana as they ran to the cargo hold of the aqua base, "grab one."

The six rangers grabbed their own corresponding Jacket and put them on over their t-shirts. They turned the corner and stopped as they saw the rescue vehicle waiting for them on the ramp.

"Oh wow," Chad almost forgot how to breathe as he got closer to the car.

Joel smiled. "This is amazing."

"Here," Dana chucked the keys over to Carter, "you're driving."

Gina pouted, "oh," she groaned as she got to the back of the car. "That is not fair."

"He's the red ranger," shrugged Dana as they jumped into the car. "He gets to drive. I didn't make the rules."

Joel leaned forwards, "one day," he said. "Can I drive?"

"I don't see a problem with that," shrugged Carter.

Joel and Gina smirked at Dana. "See," said Gina, "he doesn't see a problem with it."

"Are you ready?" one of the lab technicians asked as he stood by the computer.

Dana nodded, "we are ready," she strapped on her seatbelt as the car began to lower into the tunnels.

The Lightspeed Rescue vehicle screeched to a halt as they arrived in the middle of the city centre. They watched in horror as the civilians were attacked by bat-like creatures, there was rubble everywhere and fires were being put out by themselves. "Let's go help these people," ordered Carter.

The five other rangers nodded in response. "Right," jumping out of the car. Gina ran over to a group of people who were trying their best to escape the bat-like creatures but couldn't be due to the number of them.

"Go," she glanced over her shoulder as she fought them off. "Hurry!"

A man nodded and began to motion to the group of people where to go, "Thank you!"

'Gina,' Coulson's voice came through the communicator link as she did her best to block the creatures' attacks, 'Look out behind you.'

It was too late, more creatures appeared out of nowhere and before she knew it, Gina was thrown onto the floor. "What I wouldn't give for May to be here right now," she groaned.

"They're too strong for us," she heard Carter's voice over the communicator.

Captain Mitchell said, "Rangers, use your Morphers."

"Right," they nodded and forced themselves up onto their feet and stood in one line facing the demon.

Carter pointed at him, "You want to destroy Mariner Bay," he said. "You will have to go through us to do it."

"Gladly," the demon replied, throwing his arms to his side.

'"Ready?" Carter stepped forwards, showing his morpher that was strapped to his right arm.

The other rangers nodded following suit, "Ready."

"Lightspeed Rescue!" They all called bringing their morphers closer to then and pressed the button. Gina felt a sudden surge of power as a shield flew out from the morpher. She lowered her arms as it flew back towards her, and a helmet appeared around her head. She was now the Lightspeed Purple Ranger.

After they had all finished morphing, each ranger jumped into the air, preforming a forward roll and landed perfectly on two feet with their backs against the demons.

"Power Rangers!"

The rangers spun around on their heels and turned to face the demon, clenching their fists, "Woah," Chad breathed.

"This feels incredible," said Kelsey as she looked up and down at her now gloved hands.

Gina smiled, "The power in this suit is amazing!"

"It's just what we need," said Carter, "Let's get to work!"

Then just like that they were back in the fight, The demon pointed at them, "Batlings," he called, "Destroy them!"

"Power Rangers," the rangers said in unison, "Rescue ready," bringing out their blasters, they aimed the weapon at the batlings that approached them and easily started taking them down.

Gina quickly turned, "Clint is going to be so jealous of this," she said, firing at a batling out of the corner of her eye she saw Carter face the demon.

"Your toast," the demon declared, "burnt toast!"

"Not if we have anything to say about," Dana who was now standing next to her growled. Gina nodded and they ran towards Carter, using the rubble behind him to jump up and fire at the demon. The rest of the rangers followed their lead.

Once the demon was down to the ground, they formed a line, "Ready?" Carter raised his blaster. "Aim," they aimed at the demon.

"You ain't got the guts," he taunted.

"Fire!" Carter ordered and they fired their blasters at the demon. Once they had run out of ammo the rangers spun around, twirled their blasters in between their fingers and placed it securely back into their holders.

The demon cried out as he fell to the floor and exploded. They stood still as the blast sent a shockwave underneath their feet and sighed in relief as it was finally over.

"Did we just..."

"Destroy a demon?" Gina finished Kelsey's sentence, "I think we did," the group of people they helped rescue were cheering as they ran over to the rangers.

Dana began to check Joel over as he placed his hand on the rescue vehicle. "You should be fine," she said, "it's just the residual energy loss from the suit."

"Thank you," they began to shake hands with the civilians, "Thank you so much!"

When they eventually made it back to the aqua base, the entire crew began to applaud them as the six rangers walked back to the control panel. Joel began to show off to some of the cadets, "oh it's no problem," he said. I'll show you the move, let them show up again and we'll see what happens."

"Dude," complained Gina, as he bumped into Dana and Gina.

Joel winced, "Sorry," he froze as he saw a fully suited Captain Mitchell and Coulson standing in the middle. "Oh!"

"There is a time to celebrate," said Captain Mitchell as the control room became silent, "but this is not it. You see, now Diabolico knows that you exist. You think this fight was tough, just wait!"

Kelsey frowned, "but sir, we just destroyed Diabolico, didn't we?"

"Oh no," the captain shook his head. "That was just one of his monsters."

The people in the room began to whisper as the rangers shared worried glances between them. "Here I thought this was going to be easy," whispered Gina.

Chad nodded in agreement, "Me too."

"You want to defeat him?" Captain Mitchell continued, "You got a lot of work to do," he glanced around the room. "We all do."

Dana joined her feet together and saluted. The crew began to salute whilst the five other rangers nervously watched and reluctantly saluted.

Suddenly, they felt like they were in way over their heads.
