"GRENINJA WATER SHURIKEN" Called out a voice of an young man standing on field in the middle of a stadium with at least two thousand people in the stands and thousands more watching from home, this was the biggest pokemon event of the year, the league championship, and it was down to two pokemon. A unique Greninja and a mega Charizard.
On the left, stood a young man in his teenage years with wild black hair covered by a red cap with a semi pokeball on it. He wore a blue track suit top with bits of white at the bottom and by the zipper, underneath the blue top was a plain black T-shirt, which paired nicely with his light gray pants that stretched to his ankles covered by red sneakers.
This was Ash Ketchum!
On the right stood a slightly older male with darker black hair but his was much more tame, he had a light blue fluffy scarf wrapped around his neck and on his torso he REPed a black unzipped winter coat with a dark blue shirt inside, plus an extra white one underneath the blue. For pants, he wore black cargo pants and, for shoes, slick black boots.
This was Alain!
"CHARIZARD FIRE BLAST" The cross shaped fire move and the shuriken base water attack collided.
The fire and water formed a ball of mist.
Both pokemon and trainer were tired, both sides panting, but smiling. Both corners knowing the next attack could easily be the last.
The Charizard staggered but still stood tall, from a first glance, It looked like Greninja was fine too but then...
"Gren" The water pokemon mumbled "ninja..." he fell changing back to normal knocked out.
Ash fell down from the break of the sync "Damn" he cursed and winced, catching his fall with his fist.
But, he got up and smiled, and walked over to his fallen pokemon and picked him up.
"Gren" Greninja said to his trainer, defeated.
"Don't say you're sorry, you did your best out there."
In the stands
"Woo, I can't believe Ash lost" Clemont said as he fell into his seat since he stood up to cheer for Ash.
"I can't believe he lost again..." Serena mumbled under her breath disappointed in her crush.
In pewter city
"ALRIGHT ASH, SECOND PLACE!" A tanned man spring up from his seat which made his family look at him funny "Damn Good Ash, you did damn good"
In cerulean city
"NO WAY I THOUGHT HE WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO FINALLY WIN ONE!" An orange haired tomboy yelled at the tv.
In Petalburg city
"ASH LOSSED" A Glasses wearing boy exclaimed.
"I thought he had it too, poor Ash" a Girl in red said with a sad face.
In twinleaf town
"HOW DID HE LOSE AGAIN" a beanie wearing girl, said with disappointment.
At the indigo plateau
"Hmph second place huh, not bad, I might have to step it up too."
At pallet town
"GRAMPS, Ash got second place!" Yelled a boy named Gary oak.
"Amazing, he surprises me every time" The old pokemon professor said.
At ?
"HMMM, That boy does has potential" the ominous figure took a sip of his wine "But, not right now..."
"Good battle Alain" Ash called out with his pokemon on his shoulder "You were great out there"
"Thanks Ash, You were great too" Alain put his hand out for a handshake Ash gladly accepted.
The two were moved to a stage and were presented awards.
"For the runner up, a medal" Professor sycamore put a ribbon with a gold medal dangling down around Ash's neck. "And for the new league champion..." He paused and pulled out a beautiful trophy. "This cup proves that you are the Kalos champion" he gave it to Alain. "Everyone, Champion Alain!" The professor yelled into a microphone.
Alain trusted the trophy into the air as the crowd applauded including Ash...
"Hey, is that the guy who got second place in the league?!" Clemont called out, running up to his friend, Serena and Bonnie behind.
Ash jokey bowed "Thanks Clemont"
"You did super well Ash" Clemont's little sister, Bonnie congratulated her older friend.
"Thanks Bonnie" he replied and messed up her hair.
"You didn't win..." Serena muttered crossing her arms.
"No, I didn't..." Ash began as he walked up to his female friend, putting a hand on his shoulder. "But, it's not always about winning, and I learned a lot from that battle!"
Serena whispered something to herself that no one else heard, before sighing with a slight blush. "Maybe..."
The gang went back to the pokemon center to heal up Ash's pokemon.
As our hero was talking to some trainer nurse Joy called out to him "Ash Ketchum you have a call!"
"Wonder who that could be" He thought to himself he waved to the trainer and rushed to the phone. He answered the call and, the video phone was blurry for a second, but settled to show the face of Brock.
"Hey mister runner up how you doing!?" With a smile on his face Ash was greeted by his best friend.
"Yo Brocko, I'm doing pretty good. yourself?" Ash said, returning the smile with one of his own.
"Pretty good, pretty good, bud." the two just smiled at each other, they have known one another for years now, seeing each other grow in their own ways.
"So! Why did you call? Not that I mind..." Ash asked.
"Well, I was thinking, that we get all our friends together to celebrate your achievement." Brock replied. "So what do you think?"
"I like it!" The younger boy exclaimed with excitement "When and where?"
"I was thinking... my place? Weeks time?" The older male suggested.
"I'm down!"
"Alright!"
"Anyone particular you want to invite that I might miss?" Brock asked.
"MHmmmm" As he thought a purple haired rival entered his mind "Paul..."
"Paul?" Brock repeated, slightly confused.
"I want to see how he's doing." Ash showed a gentle smile.
"Alright, Paul is on the list." Brock said with a nod. "See you in a week bro. Bye!"
"Yeah, bye..."
The phone went black as the call was over.
"Who was that?" Asked Clemont as he put his backpack on.
"Oh, it was... my old friend Brock" He replied and put his pack on "He's throwing a party for me, so I got to get back to kanto in a week"
"I see" The blond boy seemed a little sad.
"Hey." Ash put his hand on his friend's shoulder "Why don't you come with me?"
"Me?" Clemont parroted, his eyes wide behind his glasses.
"Yeah, why not? Serena and bonnie can come too!" Our hero smiled "And, I can introduce you guys to all my other friends"
"That'd be great!" Clemont smiled back "Let's go ask the girls."
The girls in question were outside the center waiting for their male friends. Clemont and Ash walked outside and quickly spotted their friends.
"Hey, Serena!" Ash called out which made her turn towards him "What do you think about a party?"
"Party?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Yeah, my old friends are throwing me a party and I thought, wwwwhy don't I invite you two."
"I'm down! I love a good party!" Serena got excited.
"Clemont someone has to go back to the gym, now that the league is over" Bonnie pointed out to her big brother.
"Oh, that's right..." The boy in glasses got a little sad again.
"Don't worry bro, I'll cover for you!" The youngest of the group yelled, with a proud smile and stance.
"What?!" Her brother asked, a little bewildered
"You clearly want to go, so go. I highly doubt anyone will challenge it anyway..." Bonnie mused.
"Thanks Bonnie." He smiled and nodded. "I'll call dad, he'll take you back home." Clemont walked off to call his father.
"That was very mature of you, Bonnie" Serena pointed out, proud of the younger girl.
"Hehehe" Bonnie sheepishly laughed, blushing.
The siblings dad picked up the girl and the rest of the group made their way to the airport.
Two days later The gang landed in Saffron City but it was still a bit of a journey to pewter city so they set out with pewter on their mind
Four days later, at the pewter gym.
The gang just arrived and rushed to the city gym.
Inside the gym, the host was making sure that everyone was here.
"Is that everyone?" Brock scanned the room, looking for anyone missing.
"Uh... that Paul guy isn't here" Max said, pushing up his glasses. Right after he said that the door flung open and revealed a purple haired male.
This newcomer was panting, almost fell down and gripped his knees to remain balanced. "Di-Did I make it?" He mumbled in-between gasps.
"Just in time" Brock walked up to him, with a smile.
Paul looked up and slightly returned the smile and mumbled. "Good..."
Knock knock!
"That must be him!" Gary, Ash's oldest friend exclaimed. "HIDE!"
They all got into positions as the door opened.
"Oh it's unlocked" Ash and his friends walked into a dark room. "Guys?" He yelled, looking around the pitch black room.
The lights flicked on and everyone got out of their hiding stops and yelled "SURPRISE" Well, not Paul, but he did jump up in hope to surprise his rival.
The gang was shocked for a second but shook it off.
"There you all are!" Ash smiled.
After everyone said hey and introduced themselves Ash, Paul and Gary were talking.
"How have you been Paul?" Ash asked with a wry smile.
"Not bad Ash, I entered the kanto league and got second..." He replied.
"Heheh, I know how second feels" Ash laughed.
Gary couldn't help but notice everyone on the other side of the home was whispering about something.
"Yo, Ashy boy."
"Hm, what's up Gary?"
The spiky haired boy just pointed at the other side of the house and said "What are they whispering about?"
"dunno..."
Examining the group a bit more it seemed that there was a disagreement between them.
They noticed that Paul and the others were looking at them they called Ash over.
"What's up?" Ash asked his friends.
"Ash, we need to talk" Serena said, very serious.
"O-ok" Our hero stuttered.
There was a pause
A long pause
It was as if what they wanted to say was the hardest thing to say well not for the one that felt the strongest about this his first traveling companion.
"You should give up on being a pokemon master!" Misty finally spoke up.
Ash just started laughing thinking it was a joke "That's a good one! Hahahaha!"
No one else laughed, he looked around at his friends, almost all had serious faces, May looked a little sad in the corner.
"You don't really do your mother proud. Do you?" Dawn blankly said with no remorse.
"WHAT'S THIS ABOUT!?" Paul walked into the conversion and was not happy with what he was hearing.
"It's pretty clear isn't" Serena cockily said.
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" The purple haired rival once again burst out.
"What's going on over here?" Gary now was on the scene.
"These... BITCH'S ARE SPITTING LIES!"
"Lies?" Brock and Clemont both came out of the kitchen into this.
Paul was pissed "GO ON SAY IT AGAIN!"
It seemed the room had two sides, Ash's side which had Paul, Gary, Brock and it seemed Clemont was also on his side there might be someone else too but it wasn't clear.
Then the other side, was Misty, Dawn, Serena, it seemed Tracey was on this side too and Cilan. Iris Ash's other unova friend couldn't make it so who knows which side she's on
"Fine, I will" Misty began "I've traveled with Ash first and through the six years I've known him he's never once won the league. Face it he's just a bad trainer!"
"He starts over every time. If he was really about it, he'd use some of his actually good pokemon." Dawn added.
"He definitely hasn't made his mother proud." Tracey blankly said.
"DAMN YOU! BRINGING UP HIS MOTHER!" Now Brock was mad.
"Yeah that's low" Gray looked down in sorrow.
Ash's mom Delia died while he was in Kalos and it hit him hard since it was the only real family he knew.
"ASH IS THE OPPOSITE OF A BAD TRAINER!" Paul yelled. "HE HAS HEART, HE MADE ME THE TRAINER, NO... THE MAN I AM TODAY! SO IF YOU'RE TALKING SHIT ABOUT HIM... THEN YOU'RE TALKING SHIT ABOUT ME."
It was just an onslaught of yelling while Ash just stood there with his head down and his hat covering his eyes.
As the two sides fought they started hearing laughter, they turned around and it was Ash cackling like a mad man.
"You, ha... you guys make me laugh..." Ash spit out, holding back laughter as he talked.
He just laughed and laughed Misty was getting mad. "WHAT'S SO FUNNY, HUH?!"
"You say ha, I'm the disappointment... HAHAHAH YOU'RE ALL DISAPPOINTING ME RIGHT NOW!"
"GRRRR BASTARD!" Misty cursed with gritted teeth.
"Now, If you could leave me alone that'd BE GREAT!" Ash ran off.
"Ash, wait!" Gary and Brock called out at the same time, And they ran after him.
"I'm coming too!" Paul ran off as well ignoring everyone.
Clemont shook his head at the other side, wanting to chase after Ash too, but he had to get back home, so he left to get to the airport, hoping that the others could handle Ash.
Gary saw Ash run into the woods so the trio rushed in after him.
"HAHAHAH, want a battle?!" A random trainer jumped out of a bush.
"Not really, kinda of a bad time!" Gary said trying to get past him.
"Come on lets battle!"
Paul sighed "GO! I'll deal with this dumbass..."
"Got it!" Brock and Gary ran past but, it wasn't long before they were stopped again this time Brock took the trainer on and Gary went on to find Ash sitting down flipping a knife that Gary knew.
It was a memento from his late mother.
"There you are, Ash" Gary let about a sigh but formed a smile.
The raven haired boy said nothing.
Gary walked up to his broken friend and caught the knife when he threw it up "Look, Ash. I know it hurts but, it will make you stronger."
"Sure..." Ash mumbled "Can I have my knife back now?"
Gary gave it back to the broken boy.
"I'm leaving" Ash stood up and gripped a pokeball with a flying type in it. "But... I'm sure we'll meet again..."
"Ash! Paul, Brock and I are on your side!"
"I know..." he flew off.
"Oh Ash..."
