Chapter 1: The Panic and Anger
The moment Ash ran into Mew and Mewtwo's blasts, everything stopped. Everyone froze once they saw Ash's hat fall.
"Foolish human." Mewtwo said, "What did you think would happen?"
Ignoring Mewtwo's comment, Pikachu ran to Ash. What he saw next however, devastated him. Ash wasn't moving. He tried to wake him. "Pika?" Pikachu tapped to try and get a response. No response. Pikachu's eyes began to water. He began to breathe heavily as he was trying to process this. The one person who cared for him when no one else would, the one who went on his whole journey with, the one Pikachu loved with all his heart more than anyone, anything else, had been turned to stone. He was gone. Forever.
No, he thought. It can't be true. He has to still be alive. He… he's just knocked out.
Pikachu then used all his power to shock Ash and try to wake him up. Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charizard saw this and ran towards Ash's lifeless body to help Pikachu. Squirtle used his water attack, Bulbasaur used vine attacks, and Charizard scratched and blew fire.
But nothing worked. Pikachu eventually stopped trying. He knew it was too late. His eyes were filled with tears, and he was breathing heavily. All of the other Pokemon felt the same way; even Meowth was getting choked up.
Misty was by Ash at this point, grieving over his body. Brock and the other Pokemon were comforting Misty. "I can't believe he's really gone. I never even told him I…" She stopped. It was over. They lost. Misty noticed Pikachu was shaking with his head down. "Pikachu?"
Something was enveloping Pikachu. It wasn't like sadness, or even grief. It was more of an angry feeling, except this was stronger than that. Rage. Rage enveloped Pikachu's mind, and only one thought came to mind: Revenge. Revenge to the one who killed the person whom he loved more than anyone.
Mewtwo saw the group surrounding the body, and he spoke. "You really are weaker than I thought. No one else will miss you." Mewtwo threw a shadow ball towards the group, but before the attack hit, a bolt of electricity deflected the attack and hit Mewtwo instead.
"What the…?"
Before Mewtwo had the chance to finish his sentence, Pikachu came out of nowhere and hit Mewtwo with a Volt Tackle. The attack caught Mewtwo off guard and hit him through the coaster chairs. Misty, Brock, and the other Pokemon were shocked. Did this tiny mouse really just beat Mewtwo, while bigger, more powerful creatures couldn't?
Before they had time to think, Mewtwo came out of the audience seats, furious. "So, now you have some fight in your blood?! Do you really think you even stand a chance?"
Pikachu was wearing an expression on his face that said, "I'm going to kill you." Mewtwo was now floating as he tried to use confusion on the mouse. But Pikachu was quicker than he expected. He easily dodged the attack and punched Mewtwo in the face.
Mewtwo fell to the ground, but raised his head immediately. But before he could attack Pikachu, he heard a dripping noise. He took his attention away from the fight and looked down. Red. His eyes widened. Mewtwo touched his face and saw that his hand was covered in the same red liquid. He then realized what just happened.
It was blood. HIS own blood. In all of his years of living and battling other Pokémon, he had never, to his recollection, ever bled once. He got a couple scratches here and there, true, but something this severe had never happened before. He couldn't even recall if HE ever made, or even saw blood come out of a Pokémon. Before, he didn't know if it was even possible or not. But this yellow rodent was the one to prove him wrong.
As Mewtwo looked into Pikachu's eyes, he felt something. Something that stopped his ability to fight back. He saw so much rage, hatred, and sadness in just Pikachu's eyes-more than he ever felt in his life. For the first time in years, Mewtwo felt an emotion that wasn't anger, or even hatred. No, this was something that he never thought he would feel again.
Mewtwo was afraid.
Afraid of the thought he might actually lose-no, die to the hands of this creature. But it made no sense. Did he only attack me because I killed his trainer? He thought. Did…did he really care about him that much?
Pikachu used Iron Tail as he hit Mewtwo straight in the chest. Mewtwo got back up and realized that if he was going to beat Pikachu, he would need to try and be more careful in his attacks.
Pikachu tried to tackle Mewtwo, but Mewtwo dodged and grabbed him. "I've got you now," Mewtwo said, still bleeding. "Do you really think you could just beat me using the same technique over and over again?"
Mewtwo then threw Pikachu to the ground, and flew up above the stadium. He said in a commanding voice, "Now I shall fulfill my purpose, and strike back at those who birthed me into this cursed world."
Mewtwo used his mind powers to command his clones onto a special watercraft made specifically for this type of situation. They were heading towards the city, and planned to destroy it, and everyone living there. If humans ruined his life, why not ruin theirs?
Misty, Brock, and Ash's other Pokemon rushed over to help Pikachu. "Pikachu?" Misty said. "Can you hear me?" Pikachu began to regain consciousness, and that same rage came back to him instantly. He began looking around for Mewtwo, wanting to finish him off.
Where is he, he thought to himself. Is he too scared to come and finish this fight? "Pikachu!" He turned his head towards the voice. "What do you think this will do? He won't come back, even if you beat him!" He expected the voice to come from Misty or Brock.
But out of all the creatures he expected to say those words, he never thought it would be from Meowth. The Pokemon who tried to capture him multiple times, was now trying to talk him out of this? The amount of shock and confusion snapped Pikachu out of his rage.
Misty said, "What do you want to do now?" Everyone looked at him as if he was going to give a speech or something, but Pikachu instead walked away without a word spoken. He needed to be alone to try and still process everything. Meowth followed him when no one else did.
