Chapter 4: A Costly Mistake
3 legendary Dragons, Timeus the magical dragon that draws upon the bonds of duel spirits and humans for strength, Critias the clever beast that knows all sorts of traps to wield to overcome any powerful foe, and Hermos the battle hardened dragon who crafts the sturdiest weaponry for any war. A war was just what all 3 of these duel spirits were preparing for as an ancient evil, the Orichalcos, had returned. Agents of this dark and evil spirit controlled by a witch named Salem wield a magic circle that steals the souls of those fallen in battle to strengthen this malevolent spirit. To combat this, these dragons selected 3 human partners to utilize their powers, Ruby Rose the girl with dreams for a brighter future for all obtained Timeus. Yang Xiao Long, Ruby's sister, received Hermos for her drive to be her sisters sword and shield from any danger. Finally Weiss Schnee received Critias for her indomitable will to overcome any threat to her ideals and pride. Each duelist embodied the traits the dragons themselves had, but were their choices in partners wise?
Ruby and Yang stood upon a cliff in the mountains of Mistral. The winds cool blow upon their faces did little to ease their anxiety though. It was not the high altitude, nor the black masked figure in a dark robe before them that unnerved them. No, it was the stakes of this showdown that wrought the two chosen duelists with fear.
"Like I said, if you want the antidote to save the little "snow princess" from Atlas, you'll duel me with your souls on the line." The masked figure said in a gruff almost robotic tone. Ruby could almost make out a black device on the assassin's neck, perhaps a voice collar to disguise their voice? Ruby shook her head as her sister's angry grunts snapped her out of her curiosity, before both fixed the assassin a menacing glare that did not unnerve them in the slightest.
"Why don't I just pummel you right now and take it?!" Yang yelled as she flexed her muscles and cracked her fingers. The masked figure just chuckled, infuriating Yang more as she nearly lunged for them until she froze in place at the vile in their hand, dangling over the cliff.
"Like I told you, If you want to save Weiss Schnee, you'll have to duel for this antidote. I couldn't care less if she crocked, but your souls would be a more satisfying way to appease my master.
This monster had poisoned their friend last night, somehow sneaking the vile substance into her chicken, sending her into a coma. The doctors stabilized her the most part, but would need more of the original venom to make an antidote. That's when they immediately got a message on their scrolls from this one saying,
"If you want the antidote for the Schnee brats poison, meet me at Mount Haven at midnight or else you'll be next."
"Who is your master anyway!?" Ruby yelled. The assassin merely placed a duel disk, a black and green one with a jagged blade imbedded with ruin-like indents. From the deck she took out of it's slot, she drew a single magic card that made the girls gaze narrow bitterly.
"The Seal of Orichalcos!" They yelled and the Assassin nodded.
"Yes, my master Salem wants your souls and has gifted me the power to take them, but I feared you'd might not risk it unless I raised the stakes." The assassin chuckled. Ruby and Yang armed their own red and yellow duel disks in response with a scoff.
"We'd duel you regardless, just for the fun of kicking your butt!" Yang roared and Ruby nodded.
"So if we win, Weiss gets that antidote and your going to jail!" Ruby demanded and the Assassin merely chuckled mockingly.
"Fine, if you have the guts to take me on. It's your funeral kids." The assassin yelled as they put the magic card back in their deck and the disk shuffled it. Ruby and Yang did the same with their own decks.
"First a few ground rules, since this is a 2 on 1 matchup, you each get 2000 Aura instead of 4000. Yang will go first, then me, and then Ruby who gets to attack first. If one of you runs out of Aura, both of you lose, any objections?" They asked.
"None here." Yang said confidently.
"Me neither so lets go!" Ruby yelled as her disk and Yang's glowed, the number on them becoming 2000. They all cried in unison soon after,
"DUEL!"
"I'll go first and summon my trusty Gorlag in attack Mode. Next I equip it with Salamandra! Now since he's a fire monster, Gorlag gets 700 more attack points. Get ready to feel the heat!" Yang yells as she summons a fiery gargoyle with a flame blade that turns from emerald green to yellow as a flame dragon erupts from the blade, raising its ATK to 2200.
"I end my turn." Yang declares so the Assassin nods and draws.
"My turn then, I summon Panther Warrior in Attack Mode. Then I'll place 2 cards face-down and give you a shot Rose." They said.
"About time, my move! I summon Maho Valio in attack mode." Ruby declares as she summons a mage in dark blue robes with 1550 ATK.
"Not impressed Little Red, my Panther is much more powerful." Assassin grumbles.
"Not when I give him a major weapons upgrades. Maho Valio's gonna get a shiny new scepter that will blast away any competition. I activate the equip magic card, WONDER WAND!" Ruby yells as her eyes light up in joy arming the mage with a magical scepter with a glass orb on the top.
"This raises my mage's attack points by 500 plus, since his special ability increases his power up magic cards by an extra 500." Ruby explains with a prideful grin as her mage grows to 2550 ATK.
"Now let loose Valio, show this punk why we weapons dorks shouldn't be messed with!" Ruby yells as the mage unleashes a stream of emerald green energy from the wand at Panther Warrior.
"And like any weapons dork your helpless without a weapon. I activate the magic card, Twin Twisters. I discard Soul Tiger from my hand to destroy it and your sisters Salamandra!" Assassin yells as 2 tornadoes erupt from the card to destroy both weapons, but while Salamandra is destroyed, Maho Valio mysteriously vanishes.
"What's this?" The assassin says dumbfounded before recoiling at the sight of Dark Magician appearing out of nowhere.
"I activated my magic card, Magical Dimension, it let me sacrifice Valio before your card could weaken him and bring out my strongest magician in his place. Best part was not only do I get to draw 2 cards since Wonder Wand was sacrificed with him, I also get to destroy Panther Warrior automatically." Ruby declares to the assassin's shock as her panther is blasted by a stream of energy, destroying it.
"That leaves you wide open! Get her sis!" Yang yells with a grin and Ruby nods.
"I intend too! Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack!" Ruby declares as her monster blasts a stream of purple magical energy at the assassin, lowering their aura to 1500. They screech in pain, but Ruby hears a females voice as she notices smoke coming from the assassin's collarbone.
"So she was wearing a voice collar. Too bad, no more hide and seeks Assassin, now who are you really!?" Ruby demands. The assassin groans as they throw away the smoking collar with a charred speaker, it was useless anyway. Reluctantly, she disrobed herself and revealed her identity to both girls horror.
"BLAKE!?" Both girls cry in shock, but Blake just eyes them sternly, not making a sound.
"Why did you do this?! I-I mean…why betray us!?" Yang yells with a mix of anger and confusion, but Blake remains silent.
"Blake what's wrong!? Why are you fighting against us! Why did you poison Weiss!?" Ruby asks on the verge of tears, hardly believing what she was seeing, her own friend betrayed them. She barely had enough mindfulness to set a card shakily and end, hardly caring about the duel anymore.
"She and the rest of your kind were born, that's why." Blake coldly tells them as she draws to Yang's fury and Ruby's distress.
"I'm threw talking, my move! I place this face-down then activate Exchange. You have no choice Xiao Long, know how it feels to have someone lord over you and take your cards from you, though in this case you get one from my hand too." Blake bitterly says as she walks over to give Yang her only remaining card, ignoring the death stare a bitter Yang gave her with a growl as she was force to part with Monster Reborn. When Blake turned her back in disgust and walked away, Ruby was puzzled as she could almost make out a twinge on her cat ears, as if something was amiss. She didn't get much time to dwell on it as a shocked yell from Yang snapped her out of this. Yang was eyeing the card Blake gave her while trembling.
"No way! I…I can't use this!" Yang cried.
"W-What did she give you Yang?" Ruby asked nervously, not liking where this was going.
"The Seal of Orichalcos!" Yang cried as she showed Ruby the card to her horror.
"What's wrong? No one said you'd have to play the sacred seal. Though I wonder if that will last." Blake said cryptically.
"Meaning what?" Ruby asked.
"You'll see, right after I activate Yang's Monster Reborn to bring back Panther Warrior. Then I'll activate Pride Call! Since I summoned him back, Panther Warrior can call upon 2 more feline ferocious monsters from my deck to back him up, arise Flame Tiger and Lady Panther!" Blake yells as a fiery tiger and a panther maiden with a javelin in roman toga appears at the warriors cat's roar to the sky.
"Then I overlay level 4 Lady Panther and Panther Warrior to build the overlay network. Fierce feline leader, brandish your black blade and take the kills of your army for yourself! I xyz summon, Black Panther King!" Blake yells as a Panther Warrior, only with blacker skin instead of purple with a black curved sword and golden crown erupts from the portal in the ground and roars at Ruby and Yang, who note it has 3000 ATK for a rank 4 monster.
"And now for it's special ability, by using 1 overlay unit, I can choose not to have it attack you this turn and instead wipe the field clean of your Gorlag and Dark Magician." Blake declares to the girls shock as the beast sends a dark energy slash at the two monsters, destroying them.
"Now, Flame Tiger go! Attack Xiao Long directly!" Blake yells as her tiger slashes at Yang's midsection to her anguish as her Aura lowers to 200.
"You okay!?" Ruby asks her sister who groans and shakes her head.
"No, but she won't be either!" Yang yelled with a fury, but Blake just rolled her eyes unimpressed.
"Whatever, I end my turn." Blake says nonchalantly.
Yang groaned in frustration at her ex-partners attitude, almost more mad at that then her betrayal. Ruby eyes her sister solemnly, only imagining the torment in her heart. Though her sister brought out her ace monster Red Eyes soon after her next draw, Blake had countered her magic Inferno Fire Blast with ease. What was worse, Ruby noticed her sisters Seal card in her hand begin glowing a faint green to her confusion.
"What's going on with her?" Ruby thought, getting a bad feeling in her gut. This was worsened when she had to give up a trap card to save Yang's Red-Eyes, but Blake also not only destroyed her own flame tiger on her next turn to keep Panther king on the field, but made a charge at Ruby's Aura while she was defenseless. As she saw the scary snarl on Panther King's face as it honed in on her, Ruby closed her eyes and prepared for defeat.
"I did my best Weiss" Ruby thought with a grimace, only for Yang to holler it wasn't over and encased Ruby in a shield of flames, explaining her fire shield trap protects her sister from direct attacks this turn. Blake just placed a bunch of cards on the field Ruby assumed were traps, she had that feeling at least and her intuition was never wrong, just as it was telling her Blake wasn't doing this for the anger she presented to them, it had to be more than just hatred for humanities "crimes" against Faunus like she preached.
"Blake please stop all this, the seal hasn't been played, we can all walk out of this together. I mean….what do you really hope to gain from this?" Ruby pleaded, but Blake just closed her eyes slowly and sighed.
"Getting you all out of my life." She coldly said.
"That's it! Ruby make your move and put this mangy cat down!" Yang roared and Blake snarled at her.
"That's exactly why I'm doing this! You see me as an animal, not a person! Just like those other bigots!" Blake hollered. Ruby just shakily drew her card as she eyed her friends bicker, unsure what to do until she heard a voice resonating from her card. She glanced down and saw she drew the Eye of Timeus!
"Ruby….Ruby! Use me, I can get through to her!" Timeus spoke. Ruby nodded, putting her faith in the dragon of unity.
"Alright! I activate Dark Magic Veil! First I trade in 1000 Aura to get back my Dark Magician! Then I activate Bonds between teacher and student! Now I can summon his student from my deck, Dark Magician Girl!" Ruby yells as her magician is summoned, who glances back at her master with a smile. Ruby remembered the day she got Timeus, she and her sister and partner were summoned to the duel monsters spirit world by non other than this magician. She entrusted the swords that housed the dragon's seals the girls needed to unlock, telling them she had faith in their character to wield the dragon's nobly for both their worlds survival.
"I made a promise, and Ruby Rose always keeps her promises. I'll protect both our worlds, my sister, and my friends. I don't know why Blake is acting like this, but I intend to snap her to her senses with you my friend." Ruby thought confidently as she smiled at her magician.
"Next I think I'll play, Knights Title! It transforms Dark Magician into Dark Magician Knight!" Ruby declares as Dark Magician gets its robes replaced with purple knight armor and a green sword. "Now watch as its special ability wipes out Panther King right away, GO SWORD OF DARK MAGIC ATTACK!" Ruby yells as her knight forms magic glyphs on its emerald sword. "Good, ill wipe out her defense then play Timeus and wipe her out, maybe that will get through to her, using a fusion dragon that embodies friendship?" Ruby thought before Blake's yell made her recoil.
"Not if I play the trap, Nightmare Trap Hole!" Blake yells as she reveals a face-down.
"Not that!" Ruby yells in shock and Blake nods, explaining that she can negate Ruby's Knights ability since it was summoned this turn. As her swordsman falls into a hole and is destroyed, Ruby glances at her magician girl who nods, ready to avenge her fallen friend to Ruby's mutual feeling.
"I still have one more trick up my sleeve Blake." Ruby declares as Blake raises an eyebrow.
"And what's that?" Blake asks unconcerned.

"Behold, my legendary dragon, THE EYE OF TIMEUS!" Ruby yells to Blake's shock as a blue dragon with a scared eye appears and roars, summoning a gust of white wind that nearly blows Blake off the Cliffside.
"NO! Not that!" Blake yells as a nervous sweat drips down her chin. She wasn't prepared for that beast.
"Timeus! Merge with my Dark Magician Girl!" Ruby declares as they fuse. "Meet Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight!" Ruby yells as her magician girl gains white armor like Dark Magician Knight and carries a sword as she rides Timeus, having 2600 ATK to Blake's relief.
"Only 2600 ATK? Here I was worried for nothing, my Panther will devour her no problem." Blake chuckled until she saw Ruby's smirk, realizing she had a plan.
"True until my dragon uses its special ability, by discarding 1 card to my graveyard, I allow my Knight to destroy your monster instantly when it attacks!" Ruby declares as she drops a card to her graveyard to Blake's horror. "ATTACK WITH DARK ENERGY BURST!" Ruby yells as her dragon and knight join a blue and pink energy blast that creates an explosion, nearly knocking Blake off the cliff to Ruby's shock.
As the smoke clears though, Blake is standing on the edge, her muscles red and steaming as she groans with rage, sweating profoundly as she roars and her Aura drops to 500.
"What's going on here?" Yang asks confused.
"I-I activate…SELF TRIBUTE! It saved my King by trading away 1000 of my own aura!" Blake yells as her skin returns to Caucasian as she breath's a sigh of relief and her king returns form the ashes. Ruby also sighed with relief as she was glad her friend had survived at least.
"I have to be more careful with the power input, I don't want to send her off the cliff, especially without that antidote for Weiss." Ruby thought as she ended her turn.
"Then I think I'll show you what its like for us to be put in chains like animals, I activate Orichalcos Chain!" Blake said with disdain as Timeus had green glowing chains ensnare its neck to Ruby's shock.
"What did you do to my sisters Dragon?!" Yang yelled.
"I sealed its special abilities so my Panther King can attack it now, plus I get a new card from my deck if I damage your "cute" little sister." Blake said with a snide to Yang's disgust.
"Then I remove Shield Warrior from play to keep my Dragon safe from destruction, but don't worry Blake, your attack still hits me for 400 Aura." Ruby declares as a shield blocks Panther King's blades from hitting Magician Girl to her relief and drops Ruby's Aura to 600 to Yang's fury, making her Seal card glow brighter.
"You'll pay for that, mark my words!" Yang yells as she draws and looks at her card with a grin. "Perfect! I summon The Claw of Hermos!" Yang yells to Ruby's joy and Blake's annoyance as a red dragon emerges with spikes on its back and roars.
"Great, now I have 2 legendary Dragons to deal with!" Blake thought with a grimace as she noticed Hermos and Red-Eyes begin glowing.
"Now I merge Hermos with Red Eyes to form the ultimate Weapon my baby sis needs to make you pay Blake, Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword!" Yang roars to Ruby's concern. Her sisters temper was getting the best of her, and that always made Ruby a bit scared, worried she would do something rash, especially as she heard that remark. She wanted to help Blake back to sanity not destroy her. But Ruby did not think that was avoidable now that Yang summoned a dragonic black blade that she equipped to her Dragon Knight and took control of with Change of Heart.
"Now thanks to my sword my sisters dragon powers up by 1000 plus an additional 500 since there is a dragon on the field!" Yang declares as Timeus powers up to 4100. "Now attack and make Blake pay for betraying me!" Yang yells, but Ruby notices a snickering smile on Blake.
"Don't Yang! It's what she wants!" Ruby cries out to Yang's shock but it's too late.
"I activate Crystal Seal! Now your dragon will be encased in ice, just like when you first found him!" Blake declares as Timeus and Magician girl are frozen to both girls and Magician Girl's horror.
"Now your knight is useless to you Xiao Long, but there is a way to free it." Blake says cryptically and smugly.
"How's that?" Yang asks curiously.
"If your dragon powers up one more time, the Crystal Prison will shatter and free it, and remember, I gave you the means a while ago." Blake says as she points to Yang's hand. Ruby gasps as she realizes Blake's plan and sees Yang eyeing the card intently.
"Don't play it Yang! It's what she wants!" Ruby hollers but Yang groans.
"I know, it's how she wants to take our souls but it might be the only way to free our dragons." Yang asserts but Ruby shrieks in fright.
"NO! That card is evil! Don't play it!" Ruby demanded. Yang sighed as she rolled her eyes annoyed and nodded reluctantly, ending her turn.
"Then my go. First I'll bring back my Flame Tiger from the grave since its was sacrificed by King Panther's effect. Next I'll ditch it again so my King can attack you this turn, sic em boy!" Blake declares as it goes for Ruby to Yang's horror.
"I discard Knight of Twin Swords to activate its special ability, negating the damage I would have taken!" Ruby declares as she discards a card and summons a purple armor encased knight with two long swords that parry King Panthers blade. Yang sighs in relief at her sisters safety as she takes her turn.
"Perfect!" She heard Ruby yell and smirked, loving how easy to read her sister was at times with that cute face. A poker one would ruin it. "I equip Timeus with Excalibur! Now by getting rid of the right to draw from my deck, I double its attack points and let it attack right away, shattering your crystal prison!" Ruby announces as the seal breaks, freeing Dragon Knight from the ice as it roars and Magician Girl gets a new larger blue sword that doubles its power to 8200. But as the beast charges at Panther King for the win, Blake's yell makes the girls recoil in shock.
"Your too naïve! I activate Trap Rebirth, now by skipping my next Battle Phase I can reuse my Crystal Seal!" Blake hollers.
"NO!" Yang yells in fright as Dragon Knight is once more resealed. After Blake passed her next turn, Yang sweat nervously as she eyed her frozen dragon and the seal in her hand, her only current way to free it unless she drew something new.
"It's your move Yang, can you win without the seal's help? Show me and stop stalling already." Blake said impatiently. She grinned as she saw Yang grind her teeth as she eyed her next card.
"No! Gift of the Martyr! We don't have any monsters to sacrifice to power Timeus up!" Yang groaned in her head as she eyed the seal next to her new magic card, it glowing more brighter as she felt a stinging sensation in her chest.
"I can't lose this! If I lose….Weiss is gone! I'll lose a friend because I was weak, just like mom told me! I can't prove her right but….I'm out of options!" Yang thought. Ruby eyed her sister slowly reach her hand for a card, her skin paled though as she realized what Yang was about to do and bolted over to her.
"There's only one card in my hand that can free my dragon, so I can win this duel, I have to play the Seal of Orichalcos!" Yang thought as she clasped the card, but 2 hands jerked her arm to her surprise.
"Yang No!" Ruby pleaded as she hugged her sisters arm.
"Let me go Ruby!" Yang demanded but Ruby shook her head.
"Listen to me! That card is messing with your mind, it's feeding on your frustration like Blake wants!" Ruby explained but Yang fought her grip.
"We're going to lose the duel! Lose Weiss!" Yang countered.
"We'll just go with plan B, smack her around and drag her back with the antidote, don't risk your soul for a victory when you don't have too!" Ruby pleaded but Yang fixed her a glare that made her spine shiver.
"I do have to do this, NOW LET ME GO!" Yang roared in frustration as she shoved Ruby aside to Blake's annoyance.
"That's right Yang, prove me right. Betray your sister, like all humans do." Blake thought with a grimace, her ears going down a bit in sadness and disgust.
"P-Please sis….don't play that card." Ruby weakly whimpered but Yang grit her teeth in anger, hating herself more after hearing that.
"N-Now I activate….THE SEAL OF ORICHALCOS!" Yang declares.

Yang slowly opens her duel disk's field zone slot and inserts the Seal. Her duel disk glows a green light as Yang feels a horrible burn in her arm that seeps into her chest. It's like injecting acid into her bloodstream.
"What have I done?" Yang thinks as she feels a surge of energy explode from her body as she screeches, the mark of the Orichalcos appearing on her forehead as this happens. A green circle appears on the battlefield underneath the duelists, erecting a green beam of light that shoots into the sky, signifying the fields spell successful activation.
"I knew you'd play the seal eventually, the moment I froze your dragon in fact. But I admit I'm curious about one thing the seal should reveal Yang." Blake said with a cocky tone while Ruby eyed her sister in fear as she saw a dark aura ensnare her as she huffed.
"Are you as pure as your little brat of a sister? Or are you evil like all the others?" Blake asked with a smirk as she saw her partners eyes reddened and the seal mark glow brightly on her forehead as Yang growled.
Meanwhile, Team JNPR were driving a van towards the mountain, with Weiss strapped to a bed, Pyrrah dabbing her sweaty forehead with a washcloth.
"How is she?" Jaune asked her without taking his eyes off the trail he was driving on.
"Not good, I'd say she has a few more hours. She needs the antidote now!" Pyrrah said with a worried tone.
"Then we need to get up there faster and help Ruby and Yang pummel that jerk and take that antidote for her!" Nora yelled and the others nodded.
"Hey! Look up there!" Ren yelled as he pointed straight up the Cliffside of the mountain. The entire teams eyes widened as they laid eyes on the green pillar of light.
"Is that what I think it is?" Pyrrah asked sheepishly despite already knowing the answer.
"The Seal of Orichalcos!" Jaune replied in fright, stepping on the peddle to go faster, desperate to help his friends.
Selfishness
Yang felt a surge of energy swelling up inside her. It was exhilarating to have every vein in her body feel thrice as strong, she felt she could run around the entire planet and lift this entire mountain without breaking a sweat.
"Is this how Ruby and Nora feel all the time!?" Yang thought before she eyed her sister looking at her with horror. Yang frowned a moment, feeling horrible now seeing her sister so scared of her. She forced a smile to try and alleviate her, hoping to follow through with assured confidence.
"No worries sis, the Seal serves me not the other way around. I'll prove it as it strengthens your Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight with 500 extra attack points! Now it can break free from Blake's Crystal Seal and wipe her out!" Yang roars as Dark Magician Girl gains the seal's crest on her forehead too and Timeus roars as it and the knight breaks the ice around them with its claws and Red-Eyes Black Dragon sword slashing it. But as soon as they are free, Timeus grumbles and Dark Magician girl's hand trembles as the dragon sword it wields starts to shine a bit to her discomfort and the girls worry.
"What's going on!?" Yang asks. Suddenly Timeus and Dragon Sword dematerialize and are replaced by Dark Magician Girl (without her armor or swords) and Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
"What did you do to our dragon's Blake!" Ruby cries out in shock but Blake laughs her question off.
"I didn't have to do anything! Your pig-headed sister did it for me! Timeus and Hermos exist to destroy the sacred Seal, of course they wouldn't serve under its power and left your sister." Blake snickers.
"This was your plan from the start wasn't it!?" Yang asks.
"Duh! You should have listened to your sister, instead of letting your temper flare." Blake laughs making Yang huff in rage. As she did so, Ruby noticed the dark aura around her sister intensify.
"Yaaaaaaang?" Ruby asks wearily, but she double backs as her sister snarls at her with red eyes before yelling in rage.
"You dare mock me!? I-I'll make you paaaaaaaaaay!" Yang roars as the darkness erupts, blowing her sister away and knocking her out as she hits the mountain wall. Blake barely keeps herself on her feet by stabbing her curved blade duel disk into the dirt, but smirks as she sees her goal completed.
"Greed, Selfishness, Pride, Fury. All humanities worst traits. At least the Seal brought out your dark side and showed us who you truly are partner. How would Ruby think of her big sister now?" Blake thought as she saw Ruby moaning a bit, blood dripping down her forehead.
"Mark me Blake. When this is done, you'll be grateful I sealed your soul for all eternity rather than let you deal with me!" Yang bellowed with a venomous tone, but Blake wasn't fazed.
"The seals gonna help me do that by powering up my Red-Eyes as well!" Yang yells as the crest of the Orichalcos appears on her dragons head, raising it to 2900.
"My Panther King's still stronger than it and your sisters pathetic Magician." Blake snickers. Dark Magician girl goes over to Ruby, waving its scepter as it glows a pink light, enveloping Ruby and healing the cut on her head. As Ruby felt warmth envelop her, ridding her of the headache she felt, she opened her eyes to see Dark Magician Girls smile, soothing her.
"Good…to see you partner." Ruby whispered, still a bit groggy from her injury. She soon wished she had stayed asleep at what she heard Yang do next.
"Which is why I activate, Gift of the Martyr! All I need to do is sacrifice a monster on my field to add its ATK to another beast this turn. I choose, my sisters useless Dark Magician Girl!" Yang yells to Ruby and Dark Magician Girl's shock, the latter eyeing Yang sadly.
"Y-Yang no! The Seal of Orichalcos is in play, so the monsters are real! Don't sacrifice her please!" Ruby pleaded, but it fell on deaf ears as Yang grit her teeth at Magician Girl impatiently.
"GET OUTTA HERE!" Yang hollers as Magician girl lowers her gaze solemnly and disappears, adding her ATK to Red-Eyes who screeches at it ATK rises to 5700.
"Now blast Blake's Panther and the rest of her Aura! INFERNO FIRE BLAST!" Yang roars as her dragon shoots a black and red fireball at Panther Warrior, destroying it and making Blake scream in pain from the flames. Each scream made Yang grin, feeling extreme joy at the sight of her former friends torment. Ruby felt sick to her stomach seeing this.
"That's not my sister, she's not the girl who promised to protect me and Dark Magician Girl that day. I don't know who you are anymore!" Ruby bitterly thought as she bit her lip at the sight of Yang's demeanor.
As the flames died down, Blake was huffing as her skin glowed a rainbow aura, her own Aura dropping to 10 to Yang's shock.
"No Way! I beat you!" Yang protested, but Blake shook her head.
"Apparently not seeing as how I activated Reduction Barrier to keep my Aura at 10 since you were about too." Blake retorts. Yang groans in frustration as she ends her turn, unable to do anything else.
"So Red-Eyes ATK goes back to normal." Yang whines as her Dragon's ATK falls to 2900. Blake snickers as she sees this and draws, ready to finish this.
"I guess we figured out who you were all along Yang, a selfish cow isn't that right Ruby." Blake asked them. Ruby couldn't find the strength or reason to retort.
"You sacrificed your sisters monster, your bond, for a cheap power up and broke your promise to your legendary dragons. Just look at your Red-Eyes too!" Blake ordered Yang who gasped as she heard her dragon screeching. She eyed her beast and saw its eyes glowing, drooling as its claws dug into its own hand, drawing blood that made it huff like a rabid animal.
"D-Did I…Really do this? My dragon….Ruby's *GASP*!" Yang whispered before realizing Magician Girl was gone.
"No! You tricked me!" Yang protested but Blake shook her head.
"You have only yourself to blame for playing the Seal. Had you listened to your sister I would have beaten you yes, but I'd still give you the antidote for showing morality. But you clearly don't have any since you stabbed Ruby in the back, so I'm going to stab you and deliver your soul to Salem!" Blake yelled as she drew her next card. Yang could only shakily eye her sister looking at her solemnly, unable to refute in the slightest.
"Forget Red-Eyes, am I a monster?" Yang thought.
"First I'll bring Flame Tiger back to the field, then I'll sacrifice it again!" Blake declares as her fiery tiger disappears to Ruby's unease.
"What's she going to do now?" Ruby thought with a grimace.
"I activate the Magic Card Elephant Graveyard Memorial! Now since I ditched Flame Tiger I get to bring back 3 Beasts or Beast Warriors to mourn it, say hello once again to Panther Warrior, Lady Panther, and Panther King!" Blake yells as she summons them in Defense Mode to Ruby's relief.
"Good, she's just defending." Ruby said with a sigh but Blake cut her off to her worry.
"Naïve as always Ruby. Now I'll sacrifice them to bring out my ultimate monster." Blake says as she holds up a card that glows. Her three monsters vanish as the ground beneath splits open, summoning a bipedial lion warrior with a spear.
"Meet Beast King Barbaros!" Blake yells as the beast with 3000 ATK bellows.
"It's stronger than my Red-Eyes!" Yang yells.
"Not that it matters, since I sacrificed 3 monsters, Beast King destroys all cards on your field aside from the seal." Blake explained to the girls shock as Barbaros absorbs a lightning bolt into its spear and thrusts it into the ground, sending a shockwave that destroys Red-Eyes and starts coming towards Yang to her horror.
"Goodbye Xiao Long, your soul will serve my master well." Blake coldly told her as her monsters attack headed straight towards her former friend. Yang stood there in silence, unable to see a way out of this. She was about to lose, her sister, her friend Weiss, her own life as she saw the glowing shockwave come closer. A cry from her sister snapped her out of her trance, though wished she hadn't.
"I activate Knight of Twin Swords other special ability! When you attack us I can send the top card of my deck to the grave to summon it in Attack Mode and make it the new target!" Ruby declares as she eyes her deck. "I just need Necro Gardna and were solid!" Ruby thought as she slowly sent the top card of her deck to the graveyard. She fixed her sister a sad smile as she saw it was Dark Renewal instead, knowing this was the end.
"R-Ruby?" Yang whispered.
Ruby didn't answer, she just waved her arms out accepting the shockwave as it destroyed her screaming knight and enveloped her to Yang's horror.
"NOOOOOOO!" Yang yelled in horror as her sisters Aura fell from 600 to 0.
Yang ran up to her sister as the seal began to close in on her, supporting her limp charred body as it did so, the Seal mark on Yang's forehead slowly ebbing away as her eyes returned to their natural lilac.
"Ruby! Why did you do that! This was my mistake!" Yang hollered with tears in her eyes. Ruby's lip slowly opened as she squeaked out a breath and eyed her weakly.
"I-It…only needs one, I'd rather let it take me than see you go." Ruby replied weakly. Her body began to glow green as her hand trembled, clasping 1 card she managed to pull from her disk she handed to Yang shakily.
"R-Ruby?" Yang weakly asked her sister as she saw Ruby's slowly begin closing.
"No stay with me! PLEASE!" Yang pleaded, despite her heart knowing it was futile. Ruby knew as well as she used the last of her strength to force her card into Yang's hand.
"You want me to stay, well….you gotta beat some sense into Blake to do that. She's not right in the head, just like you were…*wince* Yang!" Ruby choked, feeling her inner organs on fire, yet she had to make that last plea.
"I….I promise. I'll save you both I swear!" Yang yelled as she shook her sister, desperate to keep her awake. Ruby felt her life force fade, she could only think of one more thing to say in case this was another promise Yang broke.
"I love you." Was all she could say before her strength passed, falling asleep as her body disappeared into the seal's energy, leaving her duel disk and deck behind. Yang's duel disk soon plopped open the extra deck slot, the Seal of Orichalcos falling out with an added image of Ruby looking away in sadness on the card.
"I….I did this….I sealed my sister!" Yang cried out as she clasped her forehead. She felt the texture of the card Ruby handed to her. It was Timeus, her sisters dragon.
"Not sure why she'd entrust that to you, seeing as how your right." Blake snorted as she approached her defeated partner who eyed her in shock. Blake merely picked up Ruby's seal and dropped a vile in Yang's lap, containing a blue fluid in it.
"The antidote?" Yang thought.
"A fair trade. Now, I'm tired so I think I'll go deliver this my prize master Salem and get some rest. Next time we meet I'll either take you or Weiss next." Blake told her coldly. As she strode away, Yang's temper flew as she grabbed the vile and put it in her pocket for safe keeping, not wanting it to be destroyed by what she did next.
"BLAKE!" Yang roared as she ran towards Blake with her fist raised. She promised Ruby to save her, didn't mean she couldn't pummel her in the process. She soon felt a gust of wind blow on her face as she heard propeller blades nearby. She stopped dead in her tracks as a helicopter flew from the Cliffside upwards, a ladder falling that Blake grabbed before eyeing Yang again.
"See ya partner!" Blake yelled as she was flown away, leaving Yang to wallow in misery in loneliness as she fell to her knees in defeat again. Team JNPR soon arrived in their van. Yang winced as she heard Jaune's voice and eyed Timeus, hating to gave to explain her pain so fresh after it happened.
"Yang! Did you get the antidote!?" Jaune cried. Yang didn't answer, she barely had the strength to move and speak. She just handed him the vile from her pocket which he handed to Ren.
"Hurry! Give this to her!" Jaune yelled and Ren nodded as he ran towards the back of the van, administering the syrum.
"It worked! She's stabilizing!" Ren yelled to the remainder of his team's relief as they sighed.
"Great! Wait…where's Ruby?" Nora asked, noting the elephant in the room. Pyrrah and Jaune looked around, seeing no trace of her, until Jaune's eyes widened at the sight at his feet.
"T-That's…her duel disk." Jaune said with a grimace. Yang shook as she heard the terror in his tone, tears flooding her eyes as she could only imagine how'd they react by what she had to explain.
"We saw the seal. OH GOD! Did that Assassin take her soul!?" Pyrrah asked with a gasp.
"It wasn't the Assassin!" Yang hollered with a broke tone to the teams surprise.
"Then…what happened? Why's Ruby gone?" Nora asked fearfully.
"Because of me. It wasn't that bitch who played the seal and stole her soul…..IT WAS ME!" Yang cried as she got on her knees. She explained she had played that wicked card that sealed Ruby after she sacrificed herself, because Yang was too scared to lose. Team JNPR were dumbfounded by what they heard, confusion, fear, and anger filling them, but they didn't know which to act on as they saw Yang's eyes reddened from crying.
"It's all my fault! Ruby…please come back!" Yang pleaded with tears flooding her face as she groaned and slammed her fists on the ground.
"IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME! NOT HER! I-IT'S NOT FAIRRRR*SOBS*" Yang cried. She didn't know how she was supposed to save Ruby or Blake, but she knew what she cried was the only certain thing in life right now. She betrayed her dragon, Dark Magician Girl, and worse, Ruby. Her sister was gone because of her selfishness.
Featured Duel: Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long vs Assassin
Duel is conducted as triangle duel: Assassin gets 4000 Aura and Yang and Ruby get 2000 each. Each player can draw on first turn and can summon monsters in face up defense position. If one side has a player lose all their Aura that side loses the match. The turn order is Yang, Assassin, Ruby, and then back to Assassin. Attacks may commence when Ruby takes her turn.
Turn 1: Yang
Yang draws. She normal summons Gorlag (Star 4/1000 ATK/DEF) in attack mode. She then equips Salamandra to it, granting it 700 ATK plus it gains 500 ATK for every Fire monster on the field including itself (Gorlag 1000- 2200 ATK). Yang ends.

Turn 2: Assassin
Assassin draws and summons Panther Warrior (Star 4/2000 ATK/1600 DEF) in Attack mode. Assassin sets 2 cards and ends.

Turn 3: Ruby
Ruby draws then normal summons Maha Vailo (Star 4/1550 ATK/1400 DEF). She then equips it with Wonder Wand to increase its ATK by 500, plus another 500 via Valio's effect. (Vailo 1550 - 2550 ATK). Vailo attacks Panther Warrior but Assassin activates Twin Twisters to discard Soul Tiger from the hand to destroy Salamandra and Wonder Wand Gorlag 2200 -1500 ATK). Ruby chains with her magic card Magical Dimension to tribute Valio as it is a Spellcaster and special summon Dark Magician (Star 7/2500 ATK/2100 DEF) from her hand in Attack mode then destroy Panther Warrior. Since a monster equipped with Wonder Wand was tributed, Ruby gets to draw 2 cards. Ruby attacks directly (Assassin 4000 – 1500 Aura).
At this point, it is revealed the assassin is actually Blake Belladonna.
Ruby sets a card and ends. (Cards in hand 3).
Turn 4: Blake
Blake draws. She sets a card then activates Exchange to force Yang to take a card from her hand then take one from Yang. She gives Yang the Seal of Orichalcos and takes Monster Reborn. Blake then activates Monster Reborn to special summon Panther Warrior back from the graveyard in Attack Mode. Blake then activates her set trap Pride Call to special summon 2 Beast or Beast Warriors from her deck with the same level as a monster she just summoned. Since Panther Warrior is level 4, she gets to special summon Lady Panther (Star 4/1400 ATK/1300 DEF) and Flame Tiger (Star 4/1800 ATK/0 DEF) in Attack Mode. Blake overlays Lady Panther and Panther Warrior to Xyz Summon Black Panther King (Rank 4/3000 ATK/1600 DEF) in Attack Mode. She uses 1 Overlay Unit to activate its effect and destroy up to 2 monsters on the field but can't attack this turn with it, furthermore, Blake must tribute a monster at the start of her turns main phase or destroy this card. She destroys Gorlag and Dark Magician. Flame Tiger attacks Yang directly (Yang 2000 – 200 Aura).

Turn 5: Yang
Yang draws and plays Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards then activates Dark Dragon Ritual to tribute Blue Flame Swordsman from her hand to Ritual Summon Knight of Dark Dragon's (Star 4/1800 ATK) and tributes it to special summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Star 7/2400 ATK/2000 DEF) from her deck but it can't attack this turn.
Yang then attempts to play Inferno Fire Blast to inflict damage to Blake's Aura equal to its ATK but Blakeactivates Damage Polyrizer to negate that damage and let each player draw a card.
Yang sets 2 cards and ends.

Turn 6: Blake
Blake draws. At the start of her turn, Flame Tiger's effect special summons itself from her graveyard since it was sent to the graveyard by a card effect, then Blake tributes it to keep Panther King on the field. Blake then activates Spider Web to use Yang's Pot of Greed since that card Yang used was activated last turn to draw 2 cards. Blake then attempts to use her Panther King's effect to destroy Red-Eyes, but Ruby activates the trap Dimension Guardian to equip it to Red-Eyes, protecting it from being destroyed, but it cannot attack directly anymore. Blake then activates the Magic Card, Relentless Hunter to negate Panther King's effects this turn but allow it to attack and draw a card, but any damage Ruby or Yang take this turn is halved. Panther King attacks directly but Yang activates her trap, Fire Shield to remove a fire attribute monster from her graveyard (Gorlag) and negate the attack.
Blake sets 3 cards and ends.

Turn 7: Ruby
Ruby draws, then activates Dark Magic Veil to pay 1000 Aura and special summon Dark Magician from her graveyard attack mode (Ruby Aura 2000 – 1000). She then activates Bonds Between Teacher and Student, since she has Dark Magician on the field she can special summon from her deck Dark Magician Girl (Star 6/2000 ATK/1700 DEF). Ruby then activates the magic card Knights Title to tribute Dark Magician and special summon Dark Magician Knight from her deck in attack mode (Star 7/2500 ATK/2100 DEF). Since Dark Magician Knight was summoned, Ruby attempts to use its effect to select 1 monster destroy and targets Panther King, but Blake chains with her trap Traptrix Trap Hole of Nightmare to negate that effect and destroy Knight. Ruby then activates Eye of Timeus to fuse it with "Magician Girl" to fusion summon Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight (Star 7/2600 ATK/1700 DEF). Dragon Knight attacks Panther King. Ruby discards a card from her hand to activate her monsters effect to destroy Panther King without applying Damage Calculation. Blake activates her trap Self Tribute to prevent Panther King's destruction by paying 1000 Aura (Blake 1500 – 500 Aura).
Ruby ends. (Cards in hand 1).
Turn 8: Blake
Blake draws and once more revives Flame Tiger and tributes it to keep Panther King on the field. She then activates Orichalcos Chain and equips it to Dragon Knight, negating its effects. Panther King attacks Dragon Knight but Ruby banishes Shield Warrior from her graveyard to prevent its destruction in battle (Ruby Aura 1000 – 600). Since a monster equipped with Orichalcos Chain was attacked, Blake draws a card. Blake sets a card and ends.

Turn 9: Yang
Yang draws Claw of Hermos and activates it to fuse it with her "Red-Eyes" to fusion summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword and equip it as a spell card to Ruby's Dragon Knight, increasing its ATK by 1000 plus another 500 for each dragon on the field (Dragon Knight 2600 – 4100 ATK). Yang then activates her set Change of Heart to take control of Ruby's Dragon Knight this turn. Yang attacks Panther King with Dragon Knight but Blake activates her trap Crystal Seal to negate the attack and equip it onto Dragon Knight. So long as this card is equipped, Dragon Knight cannot attack or be attacked, switch modes, tributed, change control, or activate its card effect. If Dragon Knight is the only monster on the opponent's field, Blake may attack directly. If the equipped Monsters current ATK changes Crystal Seal will be destroyed.
Yang ends, yet she retains control of Dragon Knight due to Crystal Seal's effect.

Turn 10: Blake
Blake draws and revives Flame Tiger via its effect again to tribute it to keep Panther King on the field. Blake attacks Ruby directly, but Ruby activates Knight of Twin Swords effect from her hand to discard it and reduce the battle damage to zero. Blake sets a card and ends.

Turn 11: Ruby
Ruby draws. She activates the equip Magic Excalibur to double the ATK of Dragon Knight, but she is no longer allowed to draw so long as it is equipped with Excalibur furthermore, the equipped monster must attack each turn if able (Dragon Knight4100 – 8200 ATK). Crystal Seal is destroyed via its effect. Dragon Knight attacks Panther King via Excalibur's effect but Blake activates her trap Trap Rebirth to skip her next Battle Phase and activate a trap card from her graveyard but must banish it when it leaves the field. Blake selects Crystal Seal to activate, equipping itself to the attacking monster Dragon Knight again.
Ruby ends her turn.

Turn 12: Blake
Blake draws and revives Flame Tiger again via its effect to tribute for Panther King's cost. She cannot attack this turn due to Trap Rebirth so she ends.

Turn 13: Yang
Yang draws. Yang activates Seal of Orichalcos. Now all monsters on Yang and Ruby's fields gain 500 ATK and Ruby and Yang may use their magic and trap card zones to summon monsters (Dragon Knight 4100-4600-9200 ATK). Crystal Seal is destroyed, but since Timeaus and Hermos refuse to operate under the effects of the Seal they are destroyed, along with Excalibur, and their materials are summoned to Yang's field. Dark Magician Girl (2000-2300-2800 ATK) and Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400-2900 ATK) are special summoned in Attack Mode. Yang then activates the magic card Gift of the Martyr to tribute Magician Girl and add her ATK to her Red-Eyes this turn (Red-Eyes 2900 – 5700). Red-Eyes attack Panther King and destroys it, but Blake activates her Reduction Barrier trap. Since she is about to take damage that would reduce her Aura to 0, she can now reduce all damage she takes from this attack to 0 by paying all but 10 Aura (Blake 500 – 10 Aura). Furthermore, Blake takes no more damage the rest of this turn.
Yang ends, the effect of Martyr ends so Red-Eyes ATK returns to normal (5700 - 2900). (Cards in hand 0).
Turn 14: Blake
Blake draws and revives Flame Tiger again via its effect. She then tributes it to activate the Magic Card Elephant Graveyard Memorial, since she tributed a beast or Beast-Warrior type monster she can now special summon in Defense Mode up to 3 different Beast or Beast Warrior monsters from her graveyard but they cannot activate their effects or change battle modes, furthermore Blake will take 1000 points of damage for each monster she summoned at the end phase of this turn.
Blake special summons Panther Warrior, Lady Panther, and Panther King in Defense mode. She then tributes them to summon Beast King Barbaros (Star 8/3000 ATK/1200 DEF) in attack mode. Since Barbaros was summoned by tributing 3 monsters, Blake can activate its effect to destroy all cards on her opponents fields. Red-Eyes Black Dragon is destroyed. Beast King attacks Yang directly but since a direct attack was declared, Ruby activates Twin Swords' effect from her graveyard to send the top card of her deck to the graveyard and summon this monster in Attack mode and make it the new target, but must banish it when destroyed (Star 4/1500 ATK/1200 DEF). She sends Dark Renewal to the graveyard.
Beast King attacks Knight of Twin Swords and destroys it(Ruby 600 – 0).

Part 1 of this 2 part special. Though based on Seal arc of original yugioh, I felt XYZ were more fitting for a dark person like Blake. Just like I feel Magicians, warriors and dragons from fairy tails fit Ruby just as much as fire monsters and dragons fit Yang, hence her using the seal like dark yugi out of frustration and desperation not to lose her pride. Now just as little Yugi sacrificed himself for Atem's pride and life, Ruby has been captured as well to save Yang. Next time, we will have Yang face Blake in a rematch for Ruby's soul, and quite possibly Blake's even as her true motive is revealed.
