Prompt: O65 - "You don't think that was just lemonade in your glass, do you?"
Slightly AU to speed up some things.
With a long yawn, Harry Potter glanced out his dorm window, stretching and groaning contentedly. It was eight in the morning, and the sun was already shining over Hogwarts. And it was Sunday. A smile crossed his face as an image of him and Ginny on a blanket down by the Black Lake flashed through his head. Ginny. His smile turned into a broad grin. He still couldn't believe they'd been together for a whole week. The best week of his life, Harry was sure. Quickly, he grabbed his toilet bag and hurried to the bathroom to get ready for the day, as he knew Ginny was soon waiting downstairs in the Common Room to have breakfast with him.
Some fifteen minutes later, he walked down the stairs with springy steps where Ginny was indeed already waiting for him.
"Hi, Gin. Did you sleep well?" Harry asked, placing a kiss on her lips.
Ginny giggled. "Someone's hungry. Come on. It's Sunday. I think I deserve a real good morning kiss." Reaching up to him, she wrapped her arm around his neck and kissed him thoroughly as someone cleared their throat behind them.
"What are your plans for today, Harry?" Ron interrupted them.
Ginny shot her brother an annoyed look and then glanced questioningly at Harry.
"How about a picnic down by the lake," Harry said, giving Ginny a hopeful smile.
Ginny raised her eyebrow. "You're full of good ideas today, Harry. I know a corner a little out of the way..."
"Picnic sounds good," Ron interrupted. "I'm coming too."
Ginny seemed about to protest, so Harry squeezed her hand and shook his head briefly. He was in far too good a mood to ruin his Sunday morning with arguments.
With a slight frown, Ginny gave Harry an irked look, only to have a mischievous grin spread over her face a moment later. "You better bring your own picnic basket, Ron. Don't think you can eat everything away from us."
An hour later, they headed to the Black Lake with two picnic baskets filled to the brim. To Harry's surprise, Ginny had persuaded Hermione to join them. At his astonished look, she just winked at him.
They spread out their blankets and made themselves comfortable. Harry and Ginny lay next to each other, occasionally exchanging teasing glances. Hermione was leaning against a tree a few meters away, reading in a thick tome, while Ron was sprawled out on the other blanket, staring at the sky.
Giving her brother a quick glance, Ginny turned on her side and leaned over Harry, her head on his chest and one hand running through his already messy hair. She scooted a little higher, smiled at Harry and gently kissed him on the lips.
"What lovely weather today," Ron remarked. "Let's have a pebble-throwing competition, Harry."
Harry rolled his eyes while Ginny couldn't help but giggle. With a mischievous grin, she whispered to him, "Go ahead. Do him a favour. We'll have time for ourselves later."
"What do you mean?" Harry asked, shooting her a curious look.
"You'll see," Ginny replied evasively and nudged Harry towards Ron.
Slightly irritated, Harry frowned but then shrugged his shoulders and followed Ron down to the water, asking his friend, "What are the rules?"
"The first one to get 20 pebbles with more than 7 touches wins," Ron replied, somewhat confident and started looking for suitable pebbles.
As it turned out, Harry was a little luckier than Ron that day. He reached the 20 mark while his friend was still hovering around 15.
"One more round," Ron growled and immediately started looking for more pebbles.
Harry took a deep breath, threw Ginny an apologetic smile and shrugged his shoulders before he started to look for usable pebbles.
With the score at 4-3 for Harry, Ginny called, "It's pretty hot here. Do you want something to drink?"
Ron looked up, undoubtedly considering playing on to win the competition, but Harry simply shouted back, "Good idea!"
When they returned, Hermione had already put out a plate of sandwiches while Ginny was handing out drinks.
Ron reached for his glass and drank half of it. "That feels good," he moaned, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Ginny gave her brother a sharp look. "Who won?" she asked casually.
"Harry's in the lead," Ron admitted. "But we'll play a few more rounds. I was just catching up."
"Unlucky at cards, lucky in love," Ginny replied with a grin.
Ron gave her an irritated look. "Lucky in love? Not that I know of."
"I thought you liked Hermione?" Ginny asked innocently.
"Of course I like Hermione. Very much, even," Ron admitted, giving the girl a dreamy smile. "I'm not sure if she likes me back, though."
Harry gave Ginny an incredulous look and then glanced at Hermione, who had almost choked on her lemonade, gaping at Ron with wide eyes.
"I'm sure Hermione likes you too, Ron. You would know that if you'd ever asked her," Ginny stated, turning to her friend. "Am I right, Hermione?"
A blush spread over Hermione's face, but she nodded and mumbled, "Yes, I like him." Giggling quietly to herself, she admitted. "He can be so charming." Narrowing her eyes, she glanced at Ron. "But sometimes he drives me crazy."
Harry shook his head. Barely suppressed a laugh, he slowly understood what Ginny had in mind.
"Ron. Don't tell me you've never wanted to kiss Hermione." Ginny gave her brother a challenging look.
Ron's eyes widened, and he looked longingly at Hermione. "I often dream about it, but I don't think..."
Hermione's eyes bulged at this confession. "All you had to do was ask."
"I'm just not that good when it comes to feelings," Ron admitted frankly. He eyed Hermione for a moment, apparently fighting an internal battle that the Gryffindor in him finally won as he smiled at her. "Fancy a walk around the lake?"
Hermione's face split into a wide smile. "I'd love to."
Ron stood up and held out his hand to help Hermione stand. As they walked away hand in hand, Ron suddenly stopped and turned to give Ginny a puzzled look. "Ginny, how did you do that?"
"You don't think that was just lemonade in your glass, do you?" Ginny replied, grinning.
"We're not done with this yet," Ron grumbled before Hermione dragged him away.
Harry burst out laughing and shook his head. "Ginny. This was brilliant. We should have done it a long time ago."
"What a poor girl has to do to be alone with her boyfriend for a few minutes." Ginny gave him her most charming smile and patted the blanket next to her. "Come on, Harry. We're finally alone. Let's cuddle a bit." She giggled softly. "And I have a few questions for you, too."
Harry's eyes widened. "You didn't put something in my lemonade, did you?"
Ginny chuckled. "Nope. Don't worry. As much as I want to know how much you like me, I'd rather you tell me without a daring potion."
