Chapter eight:

I enter the classroom finding that I am the last one to arrive there.

Even Toshi and Len are already there.

I approach my work space deciding to continue my other project for now. I look for all the stuff only to not be able to find anything relating to my very first project. I look all over my workspace not finding any trace of it so I approach Toshi just as Len goes over to him. "Hey. Did I leave my work on my knife project at either of your stations?" I feel confused when they both shake their heads. I wonder if maybe I took it home then forgot that I had done so. "Hm. I must have misplaced it. Thanks." I head back towards my workstation giving Toshi a small nudge towards Len. I turn as I hear someone clear their throat.

"Len." Toshi reaches over taking Len's hands into his own as his eyes look away in embarrassment at thinking about what he is doing. "I… Uh… May have some feelings for you." His eyes dart around anywhere except looking at Len as he tries to figure out how to admit how deep his feelings are for the other. His eyes look to Len when the other moves forward kissing Toshi on the lips.

I can't help a smile at this as Toshi closes his eyes kissing Len back.

The classroom erupts into claps and cheers making Len and Toshi pull away to look around blushing in embarrassment.

All of the others are showing their happiness and support for the new couple, even our professor is watching with an encouraging smile.

Toshi and Len look to each other only to smile then embrace with a happy chuckle.

Things settle down as everyone goes to their own thing.

Len and Toshi stay at Toshi's work station to work together a bit.

I get back to my work station only to turn as Jamie comes up to me.

"Your materials arrived." Jamie informs me which makes me perk up. He leads me to the entrance to the classroom where a box with my name is waiting.

I try to hold back my excitement.

"Oh. And I will also tell Toshi and Len but I managed to get a spot for you three next week to show the medical experts your new prosthetic." Jamie informs me.

"That sounds good to me." I smile at him then watch him as he heads to tell the others. I turn to the box which is next to a hand truck which I use to bring in my materials before putting the hand truck back. I open the box seeing everything that I ordered carefully packaged. I start by organizing the materials around my work station to make sure that I can find things more easily. I also make sure that I am able to move around easily in my work area. I look at all the materials and decide that my knife project can wait until I figure out where I had misplaced it. I can finally work on even more projects now. I get started on that work as I try to figure out what to start on. I end up going with an idea on how I might be able to make cars be able to not get flooded with water. I could even add this to homes if I do it right then it can help with the flooding deaths hopefully; or even the deaths of people crashing their cares into lakes and such. I just know that I will also have to figure out a new sort of alarm system that can be sent out to alert others that someone is in need of help. I suppose I will also have to think about those that might try to take their own lives. I have so much work to do. I get to work as I start to try to get all of this work started.

It'll be a bigger project compared to my knife project however I want to try to do this.

Meanwhile…

Hikaru wanders around the school as it feels weird not having Kaoru around to hang out with. He pauses at the classroom as he spots Haruhi fiddling around with something. He brushes it off figuring that she is doing homework or something which she tends to do now anyways. He leaves after that.

After school hours…

Jamie looks up as someone walks into his office. "Ah hello. You must be the one who emailed me about wanting to apply. Just be aware that I only take on so many students. So I am very very selective about who I allow in."

"That is fine with me." The person sits in a chair facing Jamie's desk.

"Alright then." Jamie looks to his desk where a stack of papers is. "I can see that you do have pretty good test scores. Something that I truly do look for in new students." He looks up from the papers. "However I must ask. Why do you want to enter this program?"

"It is quite simple. I wish to further my education and I believe that I may be able to make a difference in this world. Perhaps make something that might become mainstream in everyone's lives. I feel like I can only get so far in regular school."

"Hm. I see." Jamie nods to this making a few notes. "Next question is another important one. How did you come to know of the program? I purposefully don't advertise my class. Plus the schools website keeps it in a certain spot so I won't get a huge number of applicants."

"Actually I know someone who is already a student. After I was informed about the program I thought that it would be great to be able to help my education along much better than normal schools."

"Oh?" Jamie blinks at this. "And which of my students do you know?"

"Kaoru, sir."

"Ah. I see. I thought you looked a little familiar. You came in here once with him. I believe that I saw you all." Jamie hums in understanding. "Okay then." He looks back to the papers. "Then let us continue with this interview. I will take some time to consider your application before sending a mail to you on whether or not you made it into the program."

"Sounds good to me." For a brief second a slight smirk appears on the person's face that fades away to a calm look before Jamie can see it.
