A week later on Monday, December 7th, 2020, at 6 A.M., Hogwarts time., Lily heard a knock on her door.
"Who is it?" asked Lily simply.
"Gordon Give, " said the voice on the other side.
Lily got up, unlocked her door, and let Gordon in.
Gordon was carrying a big black box in his right hand and a small black box in his left hand.
"Lily, I'm sorry to disturb you-"
"You're never disturbing me. I'm always happy to see my friends, " interjected Lily cheerfully.
"Lily, I have two gifts here. Let me explain the smaller box first. You know that I was the silver medalist for making the second biggest donation to Worthy Wands during the Having Fun at Lily's Expense Party? Well, After I got let out of quarantine last Monday, I sent an owl to Mrs. Rene Rison, who is the principal at my old elementary school. I asked her if she would hold a fundraiser at the school for Worthy Wands. As it is a muggle school, the students and parents were not told about Worthy Wands, only that the proceeds from the fundraiser would go towards the educational needs of underprivileged children, A carnival was held at the school as the fundraiser. Many parents graciously paid for the supplies to hold the carnival so there was no overheard for Mrs. Rison to hold the carnival. All of the proceeds from the carnival will be donated to Worthy Wands. The event was a success and I stopped by Gringotts this morning to convert the muggle dollars into wizarding galleons. There are eighty galleons in the small box. It may not be the biggest donation you've received but it oughta help. "
"That's a very good amount and will help out immensely, " said Lily with a genuine smile, "A wand usually costs seven galleons so that's enough money to help out eleven young witches and wizards in need of help with paying for new wands. I'd say this donation makes a big difference."
"Well, I'm glad this money will help out so much, " said Gordon sincerely as he handed Lily the small black box.
"That was very thoughtful of you to suggest having a fundraiser for Worthy Wands at your old elementary school, so thanks for the thought. And props to the parents and students who made it a success, " said Lily gratefully, "But what's in the bigger black box?"
"I know for a fact that no one plans on starting to work on his or her entry for the Hogwarts Drawing Competition before the calendar turns to 2021, " piped up Gordon.
"It was the same story with the Hogwarts Writing Competition last year, " Lily informed Gordon, "Everyone waited on it until January after the holidays. "
"Well, " smiled Gordon, "I wanted to give everyone in our group who is participating in the Hogwarts Drawing Competition the most top notch drawing utensils possible. The big black box contains eighteen bags of the highest quality crayons, markers, and colored pencils you could imagin with every color you could think of. I thought about distributing them at breakfast this morning. But then I remembered that some of our participants aren't always at Hogwarts. My question is this; can I send them out using my own owl or should I use a school owl. I've been told school owls are better for heavy loads."
"I suggest the school owls, just because there are so many items, " answered Lily, "But my I make a suggestion on when to send them out?"
"But of course, " grinned Gordon.
"Wait a bit. Send these out as a Christmas gift! Receiving these top notch drawing utensils as a Christmas gift would make everyone in our circle so happy!" suggested Lily brightly
"You're on, Lily!" said Gordon in a very upbeat voice, "l will send out the highest quality drawing utensil packages as a Christmas present to everyone from our group participating in the Hogwarts Drawing Competition.'
Lily beamed. It warmed Lily's heart to think about how delighted everyone would be to receive the top of the line drawing utensils for Christmas.
