On Saturday, January 16th, 2021, Albus held his book sale fundraiser to benefit Worthy Wands.

Albus had put up notices around Hogwarts during the week leading up to the book sale explaining about the fundraiser and requesting that students donate books they either had extra copies of or were longer interested in. It was also explained that the books would be sold on a first come first serve basis at a price of two galleons each with all proceeds benefiting Worthy Wands.

The book sale took place on the sloping lawn where Albus had set up a long black table to put the books on. The book sale started at 9 A.M. Hogwarts time on Saturday morning.

Albus's first customer turned out to be Devon Dursley.

"hey, Albus, " said Devon casually, "Do you have any copies of Fardoor? Gary, Todd, and Miles and have all read that book and they can't stop raving about it whenever the topic of books comes up."

"I sure do, Devon, said a delighted Albus, "Jill Kirke donated her copy for this book sale. She enjoyed it, but she's usually the type of reader who only reads books once. Much of her enjoyment of reading comes from suspense and finding out what will happen."

"I can understand that " said Devon briskly, "Even if I myself enjoy reading my favorite stories over and over again."

Devon dug his left hand into his left hand pocket and retrieved two galleons. Devon quickly handled the galleons to Albus.

Albus found the copy of Fardoor that had been Jill's and handed it to Devon.

"You know, " said Albus thoughtfully, "In addition to the fundraising, this event is great for transfer of books and allowing more people to enjoy them."

"Hear hear, " agreed Devon as he walked away.

Albus's next customer was Megan Nash, who looked uncomfortable as she approached Albus. Megan had retained a fantastic friendship with James and privately wished it had been James instead of Albus who was running the book sale. Megan had not forgotten how poorly she had been treated by Albus in the past and she had also not forgotten the anti Slytherin clichés she'd heard Albus spit out. Megan was too decent a person to hold a grudge, but her discomfort as she approached Albus was palpable. Albus had quietly lost his anti Slytherin biases since bonding with James and Lily and hadn't thought much about his previous thoughts on the issue. But he felt a bit guilty when he saw how uncomfortable Megan felt approaching him.

"it's okay, Megan, " said Albus reassuringly, "I know I haven't treated you very well in the past, buy I've matured out of it."

A look of immense relief spread across Megan's face.

"I was nervous you were going to go off on me, " admitted Megan, "But I took my chances and came here because I really want to read The Hobbit and figure some people probably donated extra copies."

"I apologize for your squeamishness, Megan, " said Albus gently, "That's my fault for being such an ass to you in the past. "

"We're good, " Megan assured him, "If you can mature, then I can forgive."

"You're in luck, Megan, " said Albus with a wide smile, "The Hobbit was actually the most commonly donated book."

Megan's eyes lit up as she produced two galleons from her left hand pocket.

"James recommended The Hobbit to me. He suggested to me during class this week that I see if can find a copy of The Hobbit at this book sale, " said Megan eagerly.

"James was one of the people who donated a copy of the Hobbit, " revealed Albus, "He had an extra copy, so why not donate it and share one of the greatest fantasy stories ever written."

Albus scanned the table and found the copy of The Hobbit that had belonged to James.

"This was the copy of The Hobbit James donated, " Albus told Megan as he took her galleons.

"That's so cool!" piped up Megan, who took the book and ran off towards James, who she shared an excited conversation with.

Albus's next customer was Susan Bones Jr, who asked, "Do you have any copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Embarrassing as it is, I ruined my copy just Wednesday by dropping it in the bath. "

"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was another commonly donated book, " said Albus matter of factly. "

Albus quickly found the nearest copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and exchanged it for Susan's two galleons, which she already had in her left hand.

"I'm glad I came today, " said Susan crisply, "I now have a full Harry Potter set again."

This continued on for a few hours as most people had specific books in mind.

Albus's very last customer was Lily herself, who scarfed up a complete set of Narnia books., a set Devon had donated.

"That's cool that I get the set Devon donated, " beamed Lily, "Two times seven equals fourteen. But I'll pay fifteen galleons. This is to benefit Worthy wands after all. "

Lily, like Susan, already has her money ready and Albus and Lily made a quick exchange.

"So, " said Lily happily when she counted the money, "Overall thirty students purchased sixty books, with my extra galleon, that comes out to one hundred and twenty one galleons for Worthy Wands. Not bad, especially since you kept the price somewhat low."

"I want the book sale to be accessible, " said Albus in a businesslike voice, "From my point of view, this book sale was about getting books into hands of excited readers and I wanted that to accessible. We still made enough money to help out seventeen young witches and wizards in need with their wands."

"It's the best of both worlds, " said Lily glowingly, "Make some money for Worthy Wands to help a decent number of young witches and wizards in need but keep the price low enough to make the book sale accessible to all book lovers."

"I'm going to send the leftover books to Gary, Todd, and Miles, " said Albus clearly, they will then donate the books to a muggle book drive that will distribute the books to underprivileged muggle children. These children will appreciate getting good books that are in reasonably good condition."

"That's awesome, " beamed Lily.
