Later that night, as she entered her room at 10 P.M. Hogwarts time, she once again found a letter on her bed.
Lily naturally assumed that this letter would be from Ainsley, as had been the case the last time she'd come up to her room at night to find a letter on her bed.
Sure enough, this letter was from Ainsley and Lily felt her heart warm when she read it.
Ainsley's letter read:
Dear Lily:
Hi! It's me, Ainsley! I'm happy to say that I'm feeling a lot better than I was the last time we met in person. I think I've turned the corner adjustment struggles. The last week of September was still hard, but the last week I've been feeling pretty good and doing pretty well. The thing is, I don't think friendship not being part of the culture of The Ultimate University of Wizarding Healing was ever my issue. I'm convinced that I simply struggled to adapt to the more serious culture and environment of The Ultimate University of Wizarding Healing. I think the thing I was really missing when the semester started was the humor, jokes, pranks, whimsicalness, and general lightheartedness that permeates Hogwarts. Truth is, I grossly underestimated how big of an adjustment that would be for me even though I knew that such as adjustment would exist. So, what happened when October hit? Well, there's no doubt that a little more time has passed, and I've gotten more used to the environment of The Ultimate University of Wizarding Healing as I naturally always felt I would, this proved to also be one of those cases where I had to figure it out for myself. So what I have done to help myself? Well, figured out that, since the environment of The Ultimate University of Wizarding Healing is so natural serious, I would have to find a way to interject some humor and lightheartedness into my life because I'm a girl who needs that. As I sat in my room on the night of Friday, October 1st, 2021, I really gave this some thought and was able to come up with a game plan. I've bought myself a small fifteen month calendar that is a joke of the day calendar. I start off each morning by reading the joke of the day and having a laugh. Doing this has been a godsend for me. Starting each day with a joke really helps me feel a little calmer, a little lighter, and a little more comfortable heading into the day. And, while I've always liked to read, I have now introduced a new type of reading into my world: I am now reading comics. Considering my interest in humor, it's intuitively surprising that I've never been a comic reader before, especially since I've always liked to read. My reading has historically consisted of mostly full length stories such as Harry Potter, Narnia, Fardoor, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Space Trilogy, and so forth. I bought a large supply of comics and I'm now ending each day by reading a comic before going to bed. This has the dual benefit of allowing me to become engrossed in stories while simultaneously finishing the day with humor. Finishing the day with humor helps me relax and I fall asleep more quicker because I'm less tense. Getting more and better sleep has also caused me to feel better during the day. I began this routine of starting the day with a joke of the day and finishing the day with a comic on Saturday, October 2md, and ever since then I've been feeling a lot better. Combine that with being more settled in and I'm ready to attack my education at The Ultimate University of Wizarding Healing with the passion of a mama bear protecting her cubs. As for lessons, the basic concept is that we first learn about a disease, illness, or injury and what it is, then learn the symptoms, then learn the tests that be performed to diagnose it. I think our pace of learning is pretty reasonable. We aren't cheetahs but we aren't snails either. I hope you are doing well, Lily and I look forward to seeing you again on the last Saturday of October.
Your loyal and loving friend
-Ainsley.
Lily had to smile at that. She was pleased that Ainsley was doing better and had settled into her new school. She was also very proud of Ainsley. She admired how Ainsley had taken it upon herself to find legitimate solutions to her issues and had come up with a game plan for herself. Lily was delighted to hear how well Ainsley's game plan was actually working for her. Sometimes, people just need to tweak their lives a bit and those tweaks made all the difference in the world.
