On the evening of Monday, October 11th, 2021, at 7 P.M. Hogwarts time, Roger, Travis, Megan, and Lily met in the History of Magic classroom for a meeting of the Hogwarts Planning Club.

"So," Lily asked Roger, Travis, and Megan, "Any ideas on the types of events we should include in our Carnival Halloween?"

"Well," grinned Roger, "Bobbing for apples is a common carnival game. So, I thought maybe we could mix it up and do bobbing for oranges instead."

"That could be a fun twist!" cooed Lily approvingly, "And oranges for Halloween? Yeah, that's quite fitting."

"I also think," added Roger, "That we can have bobbing for oranges in different ways: Using our mouths, using our hands, using magic. We could also have team competitions."

"I'm liking what I'm hearing," smiled Lily, "Travis?"

"A common carnival game is balloon pop with darts, " explained Travis, "I was thinking that could use only orange and black balloons and only orange and black darts to have the game feel more Halloweeny."

"I'm looking to that mess and noise already!" piped up Lily cheerfully."

"We can also add variety to the game," offered Travis, by using regular balloons, water balloons, filled balloons, etc."

"And," said Roger matter of factly, "We can also have team competitions with that as well."

"Plus," smiled Lily, "We can use different methods of balloon pop from darts to pencils to magic and more!"

"Since we're avoiding anything to do with dressing up this year," interjected Megan, "A costume contest is out. But we could have Jack O Lantern carving contests. We can even have separate contests for muggle Jack O Lantern carving and magical Jack O Lantern carving."

"I think we're all on the same page," said Lily warmly, "We should also use tents and booths to make it feel like a carnival."

"Agreed," replied Roger, Travis, and Megan.

"Have any of you given any thought to what type of bags we should use for Trick or Treating this year?" asked Lily, "Remember that we got orange bags with embroidered black cats two years ago and black bags with embroidered orange Jack O Lanterns last year."

"So," suggested Megan, "I don't have any ideas per se, but I was thinking that maybe the bags don't have to be carnival themed. It's kind of a hard theme to create a bag off it. Furthermore, many of us are collecting these bags. I'd like to collect a whole set of Halloween themed bags for as long as possible and I'm sure many other students would as well."

"I'm in league with Megan on that," declared Travis fiercely, "Though I too am not sure specifically about what kind of bags to use."

"No single color bags," said Roger decisively, "Unless..."

"Unless what?" asked Lily with anticipation in her voice, thinking Roger had just thought of something good.

"Unless" offered Roger hopefully, "We use all white bags shaped as ghosts!"

"Why didn't I think of that?" chorused Travis, Megan, and Lily gleefully.

"I think we're well on our way," said Lily happily, "As far as the candy goes, I think this is a good year to go with alternative skews of muggle candies: For skittles we can have crazy cores and confused for example."

"Or mint M&Ms with all the different shades of green," beamed Megan.

"And let's include more candies that change flavors as you eat them," suggested Travis.

"I think we've made good progress here," said Lily happily, "Let's meet again next week to finalize our plans and I'll take them to Headmistress Kirke."
