Back at the Pool Part Two

Ryan and Reynolds POV

We're walking behind Luke as he heads out to the pool area, watching as he scans the area looking for his target. I look at Reynolds, "This isn't going to end well, I have a bad feeling in my gut." I keep my voice low even though we're far enough back that I don't think Luke can hear us. Besides, he's focused on one thing only and when he gets tunnel vision he tunes everything else out. He's lost all sense of reason.

"We have to be prepared to step in if things get out of hand. I think between the two of us we can handle it. We're going to have to." We follow Luke to find a place to sit and blend in, as much as we can anyway. Luckily, he's chosen a spot that is in the shade so we're not so obvious.

The girls are across the pool getting settled into their cabana and from the looks of it, they've already ordered their first round of drinks. Man, they start early don't they? I wish we could just leave them alone and go back to Seattle. My attention is snapped back when I realize Luke has disappeared.

"Fuck, where did Luke go?" I ask Reynolds, my voice on edge.

"He was just here a minute ago." Reynolds replies, looking around too, scanning the area.

I stop and watch as Rhiann gets up, checks her phone, says something to the girls then walks into the shallow water. She slowly makes her way down to the deeper end. I can't see much because of the greenery because it must curve around or something but I can see enough to see her lounging on the stairs. That's when I see him. Luke is standing there not moving and I can imagine, the way he's standing, that the sun is casting a shadow over his face, so he looks just like a shadowy figure.

"Found him." I pause. "What the fuck is he doing?" I question aloud.

Reynolds looks over and after a moment says, "It looks like he's talking to her. About what I can't tell." He stops and watches for a minute or two. "Shit, this doesn't look good."

We see her sit up and start to quickly swim back to the shallows, occasionally looking back at Luke. He just stands there, watching her swim and run away to escape.

"She looks like she's in a panic. What the fuck did he say to her?" He questions as he sits up quickly.

There's nothing we can do from here except watch as he creates a scene across the pool. Luckily there isn't anyone out here to watch this fiasco unfold. Suddenly, he slips back into the shadows of the greenery. That's the bad thing, he's former navy seal and they can basically disappear anywhere. He reappears, seemingly unfazed by the whole ordeal as he makes his way back to us.

I turn and look at him, concern written all over my face. "What the fuck did you say to her to make her react that way?" I question.

He just shrugs and looks at me and says, "All I did was ask her how the water was." He stops and looks from Reynolds to me then continues, "Seriously, that's all I said. It was just a simple question. It's not my fault she freaked out."

Reynolds and I look at each other, eyebrows raised and turn to him. "Well, maybe you shouldn't have just stood there staring at her like some creep. I'd freak out too if I were her. My God Luke, just leave the girl alone." I counter. I continue, "Look at her Luke, look what you've done. You've scared the shit out of her just because you can't let her be. You got jealous of the bearded guy because it's him, not you, who she's spending time with. Dude, she's beautiful and everything but you're seriously turning into an actual stalker, not just a CPO with orders to protect. I'm pretty sure this is not what Grey and T had in mind when they told you to stay. You need to go back to Seattle and find a girl, a different girl other than Rhiann." He looks at me blankly which, quite frankly, worries me.

"Uh oh." Reynolds says, "Kate and Ana are coming this way and they don't look happy." He mutters under his breath. From the look of their posture and the speed of their walk, they're pissed and we're about to get our asses chewed.

I make sure my face is impassive for when the girls reach us. I'm waiting for the explosion that I'm sure is coming just from the look on their faces.

Ana growls out, "What the fuck do you think you're doing? How dare you approach our friend unannounced and scare the fuck out of her! Why are you here anyway?" There's a pause, and then I see that it clicks in her mind. "Wait! You're the reason she's been feeling like she's being watched aren't you? This is Christian's doing, isn't it?" Ana demands.

I've never seen her so mad, she's usually so calm. She's really going to snap the more she finds out about why we're here. Good old Grey and his paranoid tendencies.

"Look, sorry your friend was scared. I didn't mean to. I was just asking how the water was and she freaked. Sorry." Luke says.

I look at him, stunned at the lack of empathy in his tone. Turning back to Ana and Kate I take control of the situation. We've got to get him out of here and hopefully Rhiann can recover.

"Look, we're sorry about scaring your friend. It was not intentional. We'll leave. We just happened to be at the pool and were thinking about coming over to say hello and apologize for yesterday but we couldn't get up the courage to do it." I look at Reynolds, who nods in agreement. "Obviously that backfired and again, we're sorry. Please let your friend know we didn't mean to scare her."

Standing up, I tell Luke and Reynolds we're leaving. I glare at Luke to make sure he understands and he reluctantly stands up with us. What she says next sends a chill down my spine and leaves me confused and more than concerned.

"She's more than scared, she's terrified. You fucked up. You caused this! You may have just undone everything we've accomplished. I hope you're fucking happy." Ana spits out, the anger tangible in her words. "We may not be able to fix things this time. You may have just destroyed her."

Before she can continue, Kate grabs her hand and tells her not to say anything else. I can tell she's hiding something and doesn't want us to find out what it is and that just worries me more.

Looking at the girls, I see them in a different light. I always knew they were stronger than Grey thinks and this just proves that. Him thinking they need protecting is completely wrong. They're more than capable of handling things.

"We're really sorry. I hope she's able to recover from her fright. We're leaving. Come on Luke." I glare at Luke trying to get him to leave with us and, reluctantly, he looks back at Rhiann then turns and walks away with us.

As we're leaving I hear Ana warn she'll call the police if we come around her again. Fuck. T's going to be pissed. Luke may get fired, if not worse. There's something wrong with Rhiann but I have no idea what it could be.
