Chapter One: New Kid At The Creek

"Come on Alexis. We have work to do." Kelsey says as she and Alexis are at the Trading Tree.

"I know. Just let me finish eating my chocoroll. Hey. Who's that kid?" Alexis says as she and Kelsey see a dark skinned boy hassling Kit about a weird looking toy.

"Newbie from the looks of it. Never seen him around here before." Kelsey says as Alexis finishes eating her chocoroll.

"Definitely not because everyone knows better than to talk to Kit like that. Should we intervene?" Alexis asks.

"No. Not worth the time and hassle. Besides Kit won't give us anything for it." Kelsey says.

"Do we always have to do stuff for others in exchange for something back?" Alexis asks annoyedly.

"With how things are around here because of the you know who we have no choice. Now come on. Let's get moving." Kelsey says as Alexis sighs.

"Yeah alright." Alexis says as she follows Kelsey before later stopping a ways away from the Trading Tree.

"Why'd you stop?" Kelsey asks as Alexis shifts to wolf form and perks yr cats up as she listens around.

"I hear something. They're back!" Alexis says in alarm before she and Kelsey hear a tuba in the distance.

"Pirates!" Time Keeper shouts in the distance.

"Sounds like you heard right. Come on. We got work to do." Kelsey says as Alexis nods and follows her as the two run off.

*Timeskip*

As Alexis and Kelsey come running they see the leader of the pirates Serena about to attack the new kid before Mortimer flies over and distracts her before Alexis tackles the kid into some bushes as Kelsey and Mortimer follow.

"That was close." Alexis says as she stands up after the group lands in mud.

"We're not safe yet so don't get too comfortable." Kelsey says as Alexis nods while Mortimer lands on the kid's lap.

"You saved me. Also that dog can talk!?" The boy asks in surprise as he looks at Alexis and Kelsey.

"First I'm not a dog. I'm a wolf. Second we'll explain later." Alexis says as she looks at the boy as Mortimer squawks as two pirate kids come running over.

"Hey there they are." One of the pirate kids say before Kelsey attacks them with her pipe sword.

"Run!" Kelsey shouts as the group quickly flees from the pirates.

*Timeskip*

"Craig I just asked you to take her to the playground. Not dropkick her doll into the woods." The boy's mother says as she is comforting the boy's crying little sister while Alexis is standing in human form next to Kelsey and the new boy.

"I didn't kick anything. It was the-" Craig then gets cut off by his mother.

"And what happened to your clothes?" The boy's mother asks angrily as she sees the group is covered in mud.

"Oh my gosh Mom. There were these pirates." Craig says frustratedly.

"Pirates!?" The boy's mother asks in surprise and annoyance.

"They're gonna make him walk the plank. Small Uncle can't do that. He doesn't have legs." The girl says as she cries.

"We will talk later. Thank you for helping my son. It was nice to meet you..." The boy's mother says.

"Kelsey and this is my sister Alexis." Kelsey says as Alexis smiles politely.

"Kelsey, Alexis. Normally we'd invite you in but our house is..." The boy's mother says as the group hears commotion from inside.

"My belt buckle is melting." A man shouts from inside.

"Under construction. Coming Duane. Come on Jessica you can help me do some painting or something." The boy's mother says as she goes inside with the little girl.

"Well thanks for saving me back-" Craig then gets cut off by Kelsey.

"Pay up." Kelsey says as she holds out her hand.

"Huh?" Craig asks confusedly.

"Pay up." Kelsey says sternly.

"For what?" Craig asks confusedly.

"For saving you. You think my adopted sister and I did that for free?" Kelsey asks.

"Kelsey be nice." Alexis says as she looks at Kelsey.

"Well you didn't exactly give me a choice." Craig says annoyedly.

"Would you rather be paying up or cut in twain?" Kelsey asks.

"Uh is there a third option?" Craig asks annoyedly.

"I don't stick my neck out 'cause I'm nice. My sister might but that doesn't mean I do. I do it for snacks. So pay up." Kelsey says sternly before Craig sighs.

"Fine." Craig says as he goes inside and comes back out with two chocorolls and hands them to Alexis and Kelsey

"Come on Alexis. We're done here." Kelsey says as she walks away eating on the chocoroll.

"Sorry about my sister. She tends to forget her manners sometimes. Anyway apologies about the rough welcome Craig but welcome to the neighborhood." Alexis says as she runs to catch up to Kelsey.
