"It's not far, just LA...No, I'm going alone." Foxy was draped over the couch, one foot hanging off with the other propped up on the coffee table, her right paw holding her cell up to her ear. "Oh, he's glad he's staying behind. He hates crowds. Besides, I don't think it's that much of a threat."

The door opened, then Jack walked in carrying a bag of groceries. "I did talk to one. I think it was a shark?...Yeah, fish breathe air in LA apparently...No, not just mammals there. Even the group I'm working with has a reptile, arachnid, and two fish in it...Well, two are mammals...yes, one is a fox...Mom! It's a girl!" Jack choked back a laugh at Foxy's comment. "Okay, mom. You need to stop talking and stop hanging around dad so much...Uh huh...Love you, too. Bye." She hung up and leaned back over the arm of the couch. Jack walked up behind her looking at her upside-down head.

"Your parents still asking about that LA trip?"

"Yeah, not that I blame them. Not everyone is able to do a complete 180 like my dad did and now I'm supposed to be working in a group of five that did. How do I know if they really changed?"

"Being unsure is most of our job." Jack said, jumping on the couch next to her. "Will you be back in time for your birthday?"

"Hopefully. I'm ready for that big surprise you have ready."

Jack didn't meet her eyes. "What surprise?"

"Zac is bad at keeping secrets." Foxy picked up her head and smiled at Jack. "He didn't tell me what it was, just that you have one."

Jack sighed and ran his paws down his face. "I knew it was a bad idea to tell him anything."

In LA, a grey wolf looked over the lights of LA thinking when a snake slithered in behind him. "Hey, buddy. What's on your mind?"

"That agent that's coming."

"The fox one?" The snake scoffed. "What are you worried about? Scared she'll try to steal you away from the other fox you're involved with?"

The wolf rolled his eyes. "I'm not scared, okay? I'm just not good at meeting new people that I'm going to know for more than a night."

"Just approach her like you did Diane."

The wolf glanced down. "As Poodleton?"

"You're obviously not a poodle, man. Just be Wolf. I'll be Snake. If she likes us, she likes us. If she doesn't, she doesn't. We can't change her mind so no use in tryin', right?"

Wolf sighed. "Yeah, you're right. Do you still have her picture?" Snake pulled out a photo of Foxy, standing proud with a wide smile, big enough to show off her pearl white fangs. "Yeah, she's hot. Not as hot as Diane, though." Snake scoffed again and bumped Wolf with his head.

"She'll like you. You know how foxes are. Sarcastic and sneaky, just like you. Besides, how do we really know how long she'll be stuck here?"

"We don't. That's what I'm worried about. Not her, me. This is the first big thing we've done as good guys. The first heavy hitter we've met. She expects us to be professionals at this kind of stuff, after we by chance stopped Marmalade, but that's not what we are. We're rookies. I also know if I lose my head and do something I'm not supposed to, especially to her, I'm not going to forgive myself. The fact she's a goddess only makes it worse."

"Hey, if you step out of line, she'll knock you back into place. She's no ordinary fox, Wolf. Like you said, she's a heavy hitter. I'm sure we'll all get along fine."

The next day, Foxy gave hugs to her parents and Jack, then got in a limo to head to LA. The ride was long, but she eventually arrived at dusk. The traffic of people trying to get home was crazy, but Foxy was more focused on the hairless animals walking around. They weren't too different from her, but their tails were either missing or hiding in their pants and while some had fur on their arms, most of them just had a tuft on their head. She looked ahead at her badger driver. "What animals are those?"

"Hm? Oh, those are humans. They're not part of the animal kingdom. Never been out of Zootopia?"

"I have, just not to places with humans."

"Makes sense. Most humans wouldn't be too keen on animals helping them."

"Isn't that why I'm here?"

"I said most humans. You're going to a place that has grown to accept animal helpers thanks to the good guys."

"The good guys?"

"Very good at being very good."

Foxy giggled. "That name could use some work."

The driver laughed. "Well, they started out as the bad guys. All animals used as antagonists in every story. They went where they wanted, did as they wanted, took what they wanted. They were actually just released from prison for good behavior after they turned themselves in." A redemption arc where the was-bad character actually paid for their crimes? Foxy was even more excited too meet them now.

The limo stopped outside the police station and Foxy was out before the driver could open her door. She walked in and was immediately greeted by cheers and salutes. She just gave a shy smile and wave, then walked to the chief's office and walked in. "Hello, Ma'am. My name is..."

"Foxy Wilde! Welcome to LA!" The chief got up and walked up to her shaking her paw with her hand. Foxy looked at it for a half-second, then let go. "Not used to seeing people, huh?"

"I'm used to seeing people, just not...you people. But I'll get used to it. I've met some very strange organisms." She could tell the chief was die-hard about her job, unlike Chief Bogo who just acted like he was. She walked with determination and purpose and even though she was being friendly, Foxy didn't want to see her angry.

"Well then, come with me. I'll introduce you to the Governor and our resident do-gooders. I'm Chief Misty Luggins." Foxy followed the chief to a cruiser and got in.

"So, is there a lot of crime here?"

"Not anymore. Honestly, releasing the good guys from prison was the best decision we've ever made. Everyone would rather stay home and relax than go on a crime spree and be chased by a bunch of scary things."

"And who is in that group?"

"Oh. Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mrs. Tarantula, Mr. Shark, and Mr. Piranha. They all sound scary, but they've grown on me. I also heard they're excited to meet you. I also think Wolf just got involved with our governor; Diane Foxington. She's a fox like you, I'm sure you'll like her." They parked outside city hall, then the Chief led Foxy to an Office with 'D. Foxington, Governor' printed on it and knocked. After a short call to come in, they entered.

A fox was behind the desk. "Oh, hi! You must be our special guest from Zootopia!" She got up and held out a paw. "Welcome to LA! My name is Diane Foxington."

Foxy smiled and shook, feeling more at-ease after seeing another animal. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Foxington." She was about a foot shorter than Diane, but they had a similar build. She was strong and in shape, not something she usually saw in office jobs. Maybe Diane did martial arts or something.

"Oh, please, call me Diane. We're working closely together, Miss Wilde."

"Well, in that case, call me Foxy. Miss Wilde is reserved for my superiors and the people I stop." She looked Diane up and down. "You're really pretty. I mean...really pretty. What's your secret?"

"I like you already."

"Ready to meet the good guys?" The Chief asked with a wide smile.

"They're at the diner. I think they said something about treating you to dinner once you got here." The three got in the cruiser, then walked in seeing the five at a table. Soon as the door closed, Wolf was out of his seat and shaking her paw. He was in shock. She looked even better than in the pictures. Her shiny fur, her emerald eyes, her innocent smile...she was perfect.

Snake slithered up behind him and draped himself across his shoulders. "Hiya. I'm Snake. Wolf thinks you're hot." His mouth was clamped shut by an embarrassed wolf a few seconds later.

Instead of anything anyone expected, Foxy smiled and spun in a circle. "Glad to hear, but I regret to inform you, I'm already taken."

"You are?" Wolf asked, still holding the mouth of Snake who would have been dying of laughter if he was free, but instead had part of his body wrapped around Wolf's paw trying to pull him off.

Foxy took out her cell and showed Wolf the screen saver. "This is my boyfriend. He has the same picture on his." The rest of the group was now up and let out a collective 'aww' at the picture. Foxy met the rest of the group, then they all sat down and ordered.

Webs was the first to speak up. "Sorry about the rude welcome. That's just how Snake is."

"Eh, no problem. Not the worst I've had."

"You're kidding." Snake said, still rubbing where wolf had his mouth gripped with his tail.

"No, there were a few places I was greeted with gunfire and tear gas. I had to ride to the site in an armored vehicle instead of a limo."

"A limo, you say?" Shark asked. "Are you persnickety or uber rich?"

"I'm not a perfectionist. I would have loved to bring my car, but my boyfriend insisted."

"You have an awesome boyfriend." Webs said. "What's his name?"

"Confidential. He's more recognizable than I am."

"Really? More?" Diane asked, looking at all the media trying to get pictures of the group through the window. "I mean, you look like any other red fox, but you're tiny."

"Small mom. That actually helps. People think I'm too young to be any real threat to their plans."

"What's your rank?" Shark asked, his mouth full of fish sticks.

"First." Foxy said. "Which reminds me, what are we working on?"

"Maybe we should wait until we're somewhere more private." Diane cut in. "This thing is always two steps ahead and we don't know how."

"Ah. He probably has the whole city bugged. I can wait and don't worry. I have ways to keep us under their radar."

Across the city in an underground location, a snicker echoed around a lone figure watching the group on a screen from a hidden camera he'd stuck in the wall behind a portrait. He knew they liked to frequent that diner. That's why he put one there. "That's what you think, Wilde." His smile disappeared when she walked straight over to the camera and stuck a piece of duct tape over it. He switched to the security cam outside to see which way their car went, but the fox pulled some kind of remote out of her pocket and aimed it at the camera making it dissolve into static. "Crap."

"Come on." Foxy whispered, getting in the car with the chief and governor. "That camera frazzler only works for five minutes. We need to get out of here."

They got in and started driving, then Diane looked back at Foxy in the back seat. "How did you know that place was so high profile?"

"You all ordered specific meals without even glancing at the menu. You all go there frequently. Any master criminal you need my help to catch would know that, too. He's probably went to any places you guys go to a lot and put them all under heavy surveillance. I could tell there was a camera behind that painting. It's obvious if you look close enough. Also, he probably has access to security cams all over town. I've dealt with 'eye in the sky's before. Now all of New Pork knows what I look like naked."

The two teams drove until they entered what looked like a big pipe. "Where are we going?"

"To the old hideout of the bad guys. This is where they kept everything they stole, and this is where they lived. Right before they were arrested the second time, Wolf gave me a map to this place and told me he was giving it all back. Everything he stole, he returned it all." Diane recalled with a smile. "I was the only one he could still trust." The cars stopped and everyone got out, then headed inside to sit in the seating area. The couches and TV there now were actually purchased, and the rest of the room looked like one big apartment. Neatly made beds against a wall, fully stocked fridge and kitchenette, smaller bathroom behind a door, living room area. It was simple, but cozy. There was even an extra bed the group set up earlier where Foxy was going to be sleeping. The good guys hardly ever stayed here anymore. They thought she might like her own space while they went to their own apartments they moved into shortly after becoming good. They also didn't want anything happening to the MVP in this new case and this was the safest place they knew." They parked the car and Foxy jumped out taking a device with her, then walked around the room, looking down at it. "What's that?"

Foxy looked up and smiled. "It detects feedback from cameras and audio recorders."

"How does it work?"

Foxy walked up to the chief and held the device up to the Chief's body cam. The device started blinking a red light and made a sound like a semi backing up. Foxy took the device away and it went silent again. "We're safe here. What is the case?"

Diane handed Foxy a manilla folder. "This is the threat. We don't know who's doing it or how or why, but people have been acting strange. It's all animals. They faint, then wake up and start going ballistic. LA used to have fifteen animals sprinkled here and there, now all of them except us are in jail for attacking humans."

"Attacking? Like going savage?"

"Almost, but it seems like they're after only one person. Savage animals attack anything that moves, these animals know exactly who they're after and where to find them."

"Any relationship between the victims?"

"Not that we can see." The Chief said. The door opened and the guys came in, all talking and sat down around the three already there.

Foxy went quiet again, then started typing. Webs moved to the top of her head, then her mouth dropped open. "Where did you learn to do that?"

"I finished combat training early, so I took some IT courses and others to make me better. Come look at this." The group crowded around her laptop, where she'd cued up traffic cam footage of the last place the animals went before their fainting spells, all on different pages. "Maybe the victims aren't the related ones." Foxy made sure the group could see every page at the same time, then she went back and back and, "Bingo. Here's the relationship between all animals." They all watched as several animals seemed to be put in a trance, then all walked in a daze in a specific direction. "Notice anything?"

"No?" Piranha asked. "Do you see something we don't?"

"Guys, it's the location!" Webs lectured and jumped to the mouse and moved all the windows to where they were located around a point, then moved the footage back to where they were normal. All at once, they all started walking in the same direction.

"What?" Wolf asked. "Why are they doing that?"

"It's a high frequency sound only animals can hear, and the master mind knew to do this on the day all of you were out of town to celebrate Shark's birthday. However, why they're not targeting you, I have no idea." Everyone glanced at Shark, who looked guilty, then back at Foxy. "He then set up several points around town with some other noise that made them faint, then they could take total control. It's a new science, but brilliant minds are starting to find out animals can be completely controlled if the right sounds are heard. It was used on me once. A mad doctor put a box in my brain that emitted sounds only I could hear, then I attacked and almost killed my partner. It broke, but if someone were somehow able to get that doctor's research or something like it, they could take control of animals in a mostly human-populated area, since the sounds are at too high of a frequency for people to hear. It was like that meteorite, but less obvious."

"But then wouldn't all animals be able to hear it?" Everyone turned to Snake with looks of confusion. Snake rolled his eyes. "Hello? The only animals that didn't attack were pets. Why didn't they hear it?"

Foxy shrugged. "Maybe they did. I'll have to figure that out later."

"Then what's the relationship between victims?" the chief asked.

"There is no relation. They were just test subjects to make sure the technique worked. They're making sure they can take control of them so they can all go after one target."

"Who? And how?" Wolf asked. "They're all in prison. By definition, not going anywhere."

Foxy smirked at him. "I'm not a god, I don't know that yet."

The chief was in awe. "Salt my pretzels, you're one clever little fox."

"I get by, but I'm no better than the rest of the team. Webs knew about locations and the questions Snake and Wolf asked are questions that I can't answer." Foxy said, closing the laptop. "Well, it's close to ten and I'm worn out after the trip."

"Of course, see you tomorrow." Wolf said, but Foxy grabbed his paw.

"Can you stay? New places by myself make me nervous."

Wolf smiled and sat back down. "Sure." After goodnights and a few routines, both Foxy and Wolf fell asleep.
