Summary: In the aftermath of the war, the New York Institute wants to strengthen its bonds to the local Downworlders by assigning permanent liaisons to each fraction. Jace becomes the liaison to the vampire clan and thus starts spending much more time with the mated Alpha clan-leader pair, Raphael and Simon. At the same time, he's come to the decision to start embracing his omega nature and get off the suppressants he'd been on his entire life.

How Jace Accidentally Got Two Sugar Daddies

Chapter 4: The Hotel Suite

It was so, so early. Or late. Or both. Morning. And normally, morning meant getting ready for bed, for Raphael and Simon. Even though Simon was a Daylighter and could have a human bio-rhythm, he was also can-leader and his mate was not a Daylighter, so Simon kept his night-time schedule. Still, they were forced out of their hotel, to head to a different hotel for check-in time.

The meeting was set for two nights, Friday night and Saturday night, so in all technicality, they could have gone there tonight. Instead, they had to go early, because of the ever vigilant and very bossy Shadowhunter they had decided to take. Jace had insisted on them going early, so he would have enough time to check the perimeter, make sure the meeting grounds were safe. It gave Simon a wild feeling, like Jace was their personal bodyguard or something.

"Stop thinking about that movie," Raphael whispered softly.

Simon glared embarrassed at his mate for knowing him so well. Ducking his head, Simon instead followed Raphael through the portal that Magnus had opened for them, so they could travel from one place to the other during the day. Jace was already standing at the reception, wearing the incredible, sexy suit that Raphael had bought for the blonde. Simon bit his lips, finding it weirdly pleasing to see the omega wear clothes they had picked and bought for him.

"You look very good in that suit," Raphael commented lowly.

There was the faintest flush of red on Jace's cheeks at those words but he played it down. "Thanks."

Simon also found it very pleasing to see Jace blush. That looked cute. While Simon was still drinking in the sight of Jace in that suit, Raphael stepped up to the reception. "Hello. We have a reservation under Santiago."

"Of course," the receptionist, a beta woman, smiled charmingly at Raphael and handed him a key-card. "One of our special… Dark Day suites, second floor, sir."

The hotel they'd chosen for this meeting was Downworlder owned – not vampire owned, because the leaders had agreed to meet on neutral territory, to avoid a home-advantage for anyone, but Seelie owned, and thus friendly toward all Downworlders, with certain aspects catering toward specific needs. Their Dark Day suites were for vampires, with extra-heavy black-out curtains. They also had a special menu for special diets. Raphael accepted the key-card and then headed toward the elevator, trusting Simon and Jace to follow him.

"It's getting late, for Simon and me anyway," Raphael said into the silence of the elevator. "And I need to be well-rested for tonight, so Simon and I will be heading to bed."

"Ye—es," Simon groaned, leaning heavily against Simon. "So tired."

Jace huffed softly. "Sure. I'll go and do a perimeter run, take a shower, eat something and probably take a nap too, since I will be up all night too."

Raphael hummed in confirmation. "Order anything off the menu, tell them to add it to the bill."

"Mh, I think I'm feeling like lobster and champagne then," Jace grinned teasingly.

"Go ahead and spoil yourself," Raphael replied simply, looking uncaring, if not an edge of smug.

Jace looked at him genuinely lost. He'd meant to provoke Raphael. Getting others irritated with him was his specialty. Why wasn't it working. Two months ago, Raphael would have growled at him in annoyance. Why would Raphael not go for the bait, and worse yet just… say that. Give him a go-ahead to spending Raphael's money, in no small sum. Then again, considering the ten thousand dollar suit he – just a work acquaintance, not Raphael's close friend, family or mate – was currently wearing, lobster and champagne was probably change to Raphael. The thought shouldn't send a thrill through Jace. The thought of Raphael so casually spending money on him. On him. Nobody spent money on Jace. Especially an attractive, charming and funny alpha.

"Damn," Jace whispered when they entered the suite together.

This was probably the most fancy place he'd ever been in. Everything was so pristine, fancy. From the art on the walls to the furniture and décor. Also all spacious and large, multiple doors leading away from this living room like space – that even had a fireplace. Jace felt wildly out of place.

Raphael heaved for one of the doors, though he paused in the doorway. "The other bedroom is yours, each bedroom has its private bathroom so you don't have to worry about sharing a bathroom with two alphas, though I preferred… keeping you close, over getting you your own suite."

"Makes sense to me," Jace grunted with a short nod.

"One more thing, Jace," Raphael stepped back out of the bedroom, closely followed by Simon who radiated weirdly excited energy. "You are here, primarily as a representative of our clan. And I think that, in this Downworlder dominant hotel, it will be wise to let others know this. That you are not a representative of the Clave here, not here to police anyone, but that you are here as ours."

Jace swallowed hard at the excited buzz going through his body at being called 'theirs'. Raphael opened a small black jewelry box, showing Jace a beautiful brooch. A golden rose, with a circle of thorny vines twisting and circling around the rose, a red stone sitting in the center of it. This rose, Jace knew. It had been the clan's symbol ever since Raphael had become clan-leader. The alpha took the brooch and pinned it to Jace's jacket. It took absolutely all of Jace's self-control not to show how weirdly it turned him on to wear this physical claim. Theirs. Their liaison, but… theirs.

"This way, any Downworlder seeing you, will know you belong to us," Raphael stated lowly.

"Right," Jace cleared his throat. "Can't believe you had that made for me. Where do you even-?"

Raphael smiled. "I have a jeweler who does amazing commission work."

Oh. Jace hadn't even considered that this was real. He though plastic, or something. But a jeweler? Tilting his head down, he looked at the jewelry again. Jace had never cared about money. He honestly still didn't. He didn't need expensive stuff. He'd never been materialistic. Being raised by Valentine did that to one. He had come to the New York Institute with nothing but a small bag of his clothes. And even after, he never bought himself special or expensive stuff. The only personal touches he'd ever added to his room were his excessive amount of candles, because he did have a weakness for that. And the most expensive thing he'd ever owned was his leather-jackets, because that was the one thing he liked spending money on himself for.

So no, it wasn't about the money itself. It was about the feelings this gave him. How taken care of he felt. That he was important enough to someone to choose to spend their money on him. The way he felt when they'd complimented him on how he looked in the suit. Bearing their symbol like that, like a claim, felt dark and heavy and pleasant and warm in his belly. And that wasn't even considering the fact that he had just received jewelry from an alpha. Something he was actively trying not to think about right now, because while he had grown more comfortable and used to being an omega, it still felt very overwhelming to this. To getting jewelry from any alpha, which he'd never gotten before because he'd always hid his status, because jewelry was such a traditional courting gift given by alphas to omegas. But more specifically, receiving jewelry from the two alphas he was having complicated feelings for.

Shaking his head, Jace went to check the bedroom. "Right. Thanks. I better get to work."

Oh, that was one huge bed and it looked comfortable. So Jace just dumped his bag on the bed and headed out again right away, leaving the suite. Straightening up, he took a deep breath and put all of the confusing feelings that Simon and Raphael and their behavior were giving him aside and slipped into his Shadowhunter mindset. Time to be professional.

With confident, certain strides did he cross the hall, checking the entire floor for potential threats, suspicious things, symbols or people. He proceeded to do so on every floor of the hotel and then headed out to round the hotel. Check all entrances and exits, everything that could be used for an attack, everything that raised his hackles and seemed suspicious.

He returned to their suite about two hours later, after he was fully pleased with the state of everything. Stretching, he rolled his head a couple times, hearing his neck crack. Time to shower, eat and then sleep some. He'd barely slept last night, too antsy about this mission.

Because this was his first out of town mission without Alec. It was his first time being a real representative of the clan. It was also his first time sharing a hotel room with two alphas. Plus, the other clan leaders were being reluctant about allying with the Institutes, so if he did a good job here, they might agree, which would be a huge success for Alec's program. Whereas if he made a bad impression, this could quickly end the program. This was the first time one of Alec's ideas actually reached outside of New York, and for the kind of change that Alec wanted, the scale of it, they needed to reach other Institutes. This needed to be a success. So there was some pressure.

Maybe a hot bath. He looked around the impressive bathroom, taking in the large bathtub. He loved baths, but rarely got them since their bathrooms in the Institute were small, only fitting a shower-stall. Jace had never missed having a bathtub, until he lived with Magnus Bane, because that man's loft had everything. Drawing a bath for himself, he looked around for bubbles and was delighted to find a bunch of candles too. This was going to help him relax, and he really needed that.

Simon had a hard time sleeping. New beds did that to him. The nerves also did that to him, because he preferred to let Raphael handle clan-leader business outside their clan like this. And like all of that wasn't enough, Jace was sleeping on the other side of that wall. The pretty boy, the delicious smelling omega, on whom Simon used to have a huge crush and was at this point totally, deeply, madly in love with. Groaning softly, Simon sat up. Laying in bed awake was not going to do him anything good. He leaned over to place a gentle kiss on Raphael's cheek before getting off the bed and heading out. The living room was empty. No Jace.

A bit disappointed, Simon sat down on the couch and closed his eyes, trying to relax. There was a noise. A distracting, weird noise. How was a vampire supposed to relax with that buzzing he couldn't pinpoint? It wasn't necessarily a bothersome noise, it kind of reminded Simon of the sound of a purring cat. Only that this cat would have to be a lion. What bothered Simon was that he didn't know where the noise came from, or what it was. With a huff did he get off the couch to investigate.

He followed the sound, to Jace's bedroom. Mh. He knocked, not wanting to disturb the omega. No answer. Well, Jace might not even be back yet at all. The Shadowhunter was very thorough when doing his job. After another moment, Simon opened the door, rationalizing that he just wanted to know what the noise was, maybe there was some broken appliance in the room.

The source of the noise was laying curled together in the middle of the bed, wearing nothing but the very plush hotel's bathrobe. Jace. Jace's hair sprawled out around him like a halo – or a mane, come to think of how he'd thought that was the purring of a lion. Heh.

"Why—y are you in my bedroom, Lewis?" Jace grunted and lifted his head to stare at the vampire. "And why are you just… standing there, staring at me? That's. Weird. Stop being weird."

"I… I… I knocked," Simon's voice squeaked a little. "You didn't answer!"

"Yeah. That usually means 'go away', not 'come on in'," Jace sat up, raising one eyebrow at him.

"I… uh…" Simon furrowed his brows. "There was a noise. A weird noise. I tried figuring out where it was coming from. And. You were making a weird noise."

"Raphael," Jace spoke evenly, not loudly.

Still, it took Raphael only a moment to stand beside Simon. Things to consider, for Simon. Because his mate had been asleep. It seemed as though Raphael was so in tune with Jace that he picked up on the omega's voice, even in his sleep, and came running. And Raph tried acting like Simon was the only one hung-up on Jace. Hah. Simon was so gonna gloat about that one later.

"Simon, why are you in Jace's bedroom when Jace isn't dressed?"

Immediately, Simon looked flustered. Because right. Jace was only wearing a bathrobe. Naked beneath it. Just one layer of fluffy robe that was tied around Jace's waist. One side of the robe slipping off his shoulder a little now that Jace was sitting up, bare legs dangling over the edge of the bed, a deep v showing off Jace's chest. That was a tempting, tempting picture.

"Amor," Raphael sounded more stern as he stepped between Simon and Jace.

"Right. Noise," Simon's attention snapped back to his mate. "I couldn't sleep. And then there was a noise. That noise, actually. The kitty-noises that Jace is making."

"K… Kitty-noises," Jace had never sounded that indignant before in his life.

Raphael snorted out a laugh before he could cover it up. "The purring, yes. I could hear it."

The indignant look on Jace's face turned into a mortified one. They had been able to hear that? He'd been aware of the fact that he had started purring. Surrounded by the soft rose-scent of the bubble-bath, wrapped into the softest, fluffiest robe he'd ever worn, laying on this incredibly comfortable bed. But he thought his purring was a quiet, inconspicuous sound. Even considering their vampire-hearing. He'd never purred in front of people.

"...Jace? Are you okay?" Simon sounded concerned. "You look… kinda stressed?"

"I'm not," Jace ground his teeth together. "I didn't think you could hear that."

"It's not a big deal, Jace," Raphael's voice was soft. "Omegas purr. No judgment here, okay?"

"I've never… made that sound before," Jace hissed. "It happened for the first time like two days ago. And now again. I don't know how to stop making that sound, or how to make it quieter."

Understanding passed over Raphael's face. "I'm sorry, then. Perhaps I should have gotten you your own suite for privacy…"

Jace groaned and ran his fingers through his hair. "You don't have anything to be sorry for. It's not your fault I don't have a grip on this yet. I just. It's been three months. I thought I had the hang of this whole omega-thing, and then there's something new. And it's… frustrating."

"I can still be sorry about a situation, even if it's not my fault, because we don't want you to be uncomfortable," Raphael offered. "For what it's worth… you don't need to be embarrassed about it. It's a good thing, or so I've heard. Come on, Simon. Back to our bedroom. Let Jace sleep too. Good night, Jace. I do trust you have your alarm set for when we have to leave."

"Of course," Jace huffed offended. "Night, guys."

"Why are you looking smug, Raph?"

Simon narrowed his eyes at his mate as soon as their bedroom door closed behind them. As soon as they'd left Jace's bedroom, Simon had noticed that look on Raphael's face and there was no other word to describe it than smug. Now, the older vampire looked at him startled.

"What? I am not being smug, corazón," Raphael frowned at him.

Simon crossed his arms. "Ye—eah, you totally looked smug. Why did you look smug?"

The frown crumbled and Raphael looked… embarrassed. Huh. That was not an expression Simon had ever seen on his mate before. That looked cute on Raph, but is also further confused Simon.

"I said that purring is normal for omegas," Raphael slowly sat down on their bed. "And it is. However, omegas only purr when they feel very safe, comfortable and content. It's… rare… to hear an omega purr outside their den or without their mates. Because that's where they're the safest, most comfortable and most content. I've… only ever heard an omega purr maybe twice."

It took a moment for this to sink in for Simon. So that explained why Simon had never heard Clary or Bat purr before, if it was something omegas only did when they were super safe, comfortable and content. Wait. Slowly, Simon looked over at his mate and a smug expression spread over his lips.

"Oh," Simon snickered softly. "You act like I'm the one hung up on Jace, but here you are, practically preening because Jace felt safe enough in this foreign place because we are with him. And you bought him that ridiculously expensive suit, even though a much cheaper one could have done the job too, but you chose to spend the money on him. Same with that brooch! A, like, sew-on patch like the younger vamps in our clan have, would have done, but you sprang for a real gold brooch with a real ruby, which is honestly unreal. Plus, you wanted to share a suite with him, you would have never shared your space with him before he became our liaison, but you wanted him close to us. You are as hung up on him as me."

Raphael sat frozen, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Clearing his throat, he straightened his jacket and turned to look away from his mate. Simon had a point. A point that Raphael had, so far, tried to ignore. Apparently, it had reached the point where Raphael could no longer ignore it. He'd accidentally grown fond of Jace, too fond.

They had become something like friends – and all that Raphael had done was most definitely too much for 'something like friends'. The suit, the brooch, the suite. It seemed as though he liked spending money on the omega. That had not been intentional.

The suit was supposed to be less expensive. Jace was an attractive man, he could even make a suit off the peg look like a designer piece. Thousand, at max, was what Raphael had meant to spend to make Jace look presentable when representing their clan. And then Jace had looked so good in the suit and Raphael had compelled to get him a more expensive one. His reaction to receiving a gift had been… too endearing. That was the main reason why he had chosen something more expensive as a symbol of their clan too. Though Raphael knew there was another reason why he had chosen jewelry. It wasn't courting jewelry, not without the expressed intent, and yet there was something incredibly pleasing to seeing the omega wear jewelry he'd gotten from Raphael and Simon.

"He has… depths I didn't expect," Raphael admitted after a long moment of silence, his voice very soft. "We started talking to each other to kill time when you ran late or something, but… I enjoy… talking to him. He likes to read and he has good taste in books too. I… could spend all night talking to him about whatever book he is reading, even if I haven't read it, just… listening to him."

"Oh wow, you have it ba—ad," Simon snickered, sounding absolutely delighted.

He leaned against his mate, resting his forehead against Raphael's shoulder, before he slowly moved up, so he could place a gentle kiss on Raphael's cheek. In all honesty, Simon had no idea what to do with that. Because he had hoped that Raphael would get along with Jace, sure, that maybe they could become friends, so all three of them could hang out, once Simon would finally be over his feelings for Jace. In none of his potential scenarios had he accounted for the possibility of Raphael also falling for Jace. Since Raphael had never mentioned anything about being polyamorous himself, this had never even crossed Simon's mind. Now, if only Jace would like guys too, then Simon could come up with like a plan to seduce the blonde omega into becoming theirs and there could be a polyamorous solution to all of this that would not have to involve Simon having to get over Jace, at all. That would be great.

"This wasn't supposed to happen," Raphael whispered softly, laying down on the bed. "He was not supposed to grow on me that much. How did he do that."

"By opening up?" Simon guessed. "I mean, he came to us, when all of this started, and… bared a lot of stuff he didn't have to. And you guys did start talking, about personal stuff. If all of this had stayed all professional, you probably wouldn't have. But it became personal."

Raphael hummed softly in confirmation. He wrapped an arm around his mate, pulling Simon close against his chest so he could kiss the top of Simon's head. Simon was right. Instead of keeping the blonde at arm's length, Raphael had allowed things to become personal. No, Jace had allowed things to become personal, had chosen to not keep everything strictly professional.

Author's note: Okay so the thing is that I REALLY want to read this story. But. For that, someone (me) has to first WRITE it. A real problem. It is honestly not fair that fanfiction doesn't just manifest in the document when you stare at it long enough :/ so rude :/

But! Yeah! Have ANOTHER chapter, after last week's update, because I am in the mood for this story! xD

More spoiling, some realizations and some purring ;D Next chapter, the meeting will commence!
