After a brief explanation and resupply, the three Eds were lead by Camilla to the bridge leading out of Riverwood.
"See those ruins up there?" she asked while pointing at the ruins in question. "That's Bleak Falls Barrow.
"You want us to climb up there?" Eddy asked.
"That's where the bandits that took the Golden Claw have set up camp." Camilla answered.
"Cool!" Ed said in awe.
"As interesting as it is to explore ruins in an unknown land, is it truly worth confronting bandits just to retrieve one item?" Edd asked.
"Maybe not, but it's the principle of the matter. Besides, there's a golden rule about attacking bandits that makes fighting them worth it." Camilla answered.
"What's that?" Ed asked.
"To the victor goes the spoils." said Camilla.
"Which means we get the loot!" Eddy said with a grin.
"But to do all this, we'd have to fight the bandits! Bandits who fight with...dare I say it...intention to kill!" Edd grimly stated.
"That's how it is with bandits. Kill or be killed." Camilla explained like it wasn't the most gut wrenching thing the Eds just heard. "Why do you think Alvor gave you those weapons and leather armor for the trip to Whiterun? Did you think you'd only meet wildlife out there?"
Hit with the implications, the three Eds began to sweat and become nervous.
"What's with you three? Never taken a life before?" Camilla asked, earning headshakes from the three of them. "Well you're gonna have to learn real fast. But since I see that your knees are shaking..." she said as she gestured to their knees knocking against each other. "I'll have you guys try my idea." finished as she pulled out a knife and a few vials of unknown liquid. "This blade I had the blacksmith sharpen and these vials of paralytic should help you with those bandits. I would've gone with the bow and arrow, but my brother threw it in the fire and told the blacksmith not to sell me any others."
"How are these gonna help?" Eddy asked.
"Simple. Just a few drops on the blade and a tiny nick to a bandit will paralyze them for a while, depending on the potency." Camilla answered.
"As wonderful as this non-lethal option you've presented us with is, I worry that the bandits will be quite perturbed at us and will likely seek vengeance when the poison wears off." Edd stated.
"That's why you knock them out with a blunt weapon while they can't move, or even use a rock." Camilla countered.
"Good thing Alvor let Ed take a warhammer." Eddy said while looking at the large warhammer strapped to Ed's back.
"Let's just pray Ed controls his strength when using it." Edd muttered as he took the knife and poisons from Camilla. "Now, there's plenty of day time left, but try to get back before dark. And watch out for any guards the bandits have. Safe journey, you three."
"Bye bye!" Ed waved before he and his friends all began their trek towards Bleak Falls Barrow.
-2 Hours Later-
After their hike through the mountains, the Eds could finally see the entrance to Bleak Falls Barrow.
"There it is, guys!" Ed said with a grin as he pulled an exhausted Edd up, the smart Edd breathing and sweating a lot.
"Well...about time." Eddy grumbled as he pulled another wolf tooth out of his arm before massaging his head. "Next time we get attacked by wolves, trying swinging at them instead of me!"
"Gee Eddy, I'm sorry." Ed apologized before smiling. "Can I have that wolf tooth?"
"Give me that hammer and I'll give you your teeth!" Eddy growled before shivering. "S-Stupid mountain snow!" he grumbled.
"Gentlemen...We...should approach...with caution!" Edd got out through his wheezing. "The bandits...may have...sentries."
"They're that old?" Ed asked.
"Not centuries!...Sentries!" Edd snapped. "The guards we...were told to...be on the lookout for!"
Thwick!
Ed blinked as he stood up before looking up at the Barrows, the arrow that was shot at him going through one ear and out the other.
"There they are!" Ed yelled while pointing at the panicking bandits.
"Ed! Get down!" Eddy yelled as he pulled Ed behind a rock. "This is not good! They have bows and arrows! What do we do?!"
"M-Maybe we can n-n-negotiate?! It's only o-o-one little item! Maybe th-they'll return it?!" Edd suggested.
"Are you nuts?! Didn't you hear what Camilla said?! It's kill or be killed with bandits, and we tried to go around that with those stupid paralyzing poisons and that dumb knife she gave us!" Eddy snapped.
"Couldn't hurt to try." Edd whimpered before he raised his voice. "WAIT!" he yelled. After nothing happened he carefully raised himself out from behind cover. "EXCUSE ME! WE WISH TO NEGO-"
His words died on his lips as another arrow shot past him, a small cut opening on his cheek from the near miss. His eyes widened in horror before Eddy pulled him down just in time to avoid another arrow shot at him.
"So much for that." Eddy grumbled while Edd shook with fear.
"They almost killed me!" Edd muttered as he gently wiped his scratch, the blood collecting on his thumb. "If their aim had been any better..." he said before his eyes rolled up and he passed out.
"DOUBLE D!" Ed and Eddy yelled before Ed growled, pulled the arrow out of his ears and snapped it in his hand.
"Come on, you trespassers. Stick you heard out again!" an archer muttered as she kept her arrow drawn and her eye on the rock she saw the Eds hide behind. Suddenly, there was movement. "There you-"
SPLART!
The bandit only had time to see Ed fling a rock at her before it tore through her head like a ripe melon.
The other bandits that had been on alert saw their friend's brains fly everywhere before her body slumped over.
"What in the name of the Divines just happened?!" one asked.
"I don't know! I didn't see it!" another answered.
"RAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!
They looked to see Ed running up towards them and carrying a boulder three times his size over his head.
"ED SMASH THE ROTTEN BANDITS!" the dumbest Ed roared. The first bandit turned before he was suddenly smashed into a bloody pulp. The boulder itself had broken into many little pieces, which were then used by Ed as he started to fling them at the remaining bandits. After the rocks were done flying, the only bandit left alive was the one hiding behind a stone pillar, the rest dead with broken bones and faces.
"Oh, by the Divines! Why are they here?! Who are they?! Did the Jarl of Whiterun send them?! I gotta get out of here!" he muttered before he took off. He ran before looking behind himself to see if he was followed. He looked forward, only to scream and try to stop before a furious Ed swung his warhammer down on the bandit's head with enough strength to cave it into his chest cavity.
While Ed was going on a rampage, Eddy was doing his best to wake his smart friend up.
"Double D! Wake up already!" he yelled while he started to violently shake Edd. He stopped when his friend started to make sound and his eyes snapped open.
"Wh-What happened?!" Edd asked as he looked around.
"You got a cut from an arrow and passed out. Ed's been fighting those bandits since then." Eddy explained. "Just listen!"
The two of them listened, but there was no sound.
"Didn't you say Ed was fighting them? I hear no sounds of battle." Edd stated. Eddy looked over the rock before lowering himself back down, his face having turned green.
"Battle's over." he said in a queasy tone. Edd bit his lip before looking over to see all the nearby bandits dead, their bodies having been pulverized by Ed's attack.
"Oh my Lord!" the smart Ed muttered at the carnage while Eddy dared to look again.
"Ed's an animal." Eddy muttered before looking around. "Where is Ed?"
"Perhaps he's ventured into Bleak Falls Barrow?" Edd pondered out loud as he and Eddy carefully left their rock and ventured towards the entrance, doing their best not to step on any bodies. When they got up there, they saw Ed sitting against a stone pillar, his body trembling and his hands grabbing his horrified face.
"Ed! There you are! What happened here?" Eddy asked. Ed didn't respond to his friend's question. He simply sat there and trembled. "Ed? Ed!" Eddy yelled as he went up to his friend. "What's with you, Lum-" Eddy began as he grabbed Ed's shoulder.
"NO!" Ed wailed as he raised his arms in panic, his left handing socking Eddy in the face and knocking him over. "NO MORE BANDITS! BAD FOR ED!" the dumb Ed cried, his eyes oozing with tears.
"Ed!" Edd called out while Eddy wobbled in a daze, a smile on his face before falling over while Edd tried to console Ed. "Calm yourself, Ed! It's us. Eddy and Double D." he said in a soothing tone. Ed looked at Edd before pulling him into a bone crunching hug.
"OH DOUBLE D! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!" he asked. "THEY ARE DEAD AND ED HAS KILLED THEM!"
"Ed!...Cannot...Breathe!" Edd wheezed. Ed was still crying as he let Edd go to breathe. "Ed. What happened after I fainted?"
"Double D was hurt! Blood! Ed? Mad at bandits! Wanted them to pay! Threw rocks! Smashed bandits! Now...Now Ed has blood on his hands!" Ed cried.
"Yeah?" Eddy asked after he regained consciousness and rubbed his head. "Why'd you go ballistic on them anyway?" Ed looked at the cut on Edd's cheek and frown.
"Double D got hurt. Camilla's words rang through my head about bandits. Kill or be killed." Ed explained in a rare moment of clarity. "But now, the bandits are dead! And I hit a girl! What am I gonna do?! If Sarah finds out, she'll tell mom, and mom will tell dad, AND DAD WILL SAY 'IT'S 3 IN THE MORNING! GO TO BED!'"
"But Ed, it wasn't really your fault. You didn't mean to kill them." Edd stated.
"Yeah. If you wanna blame someone, blame the author and the friend, Dark Lord, he's writing this story for." Eddy said before he started shivering again. "Let's get inside the stupid barrel and out of the cold.
"It's Barrow, and I agree." Edd nodded before offering Ed his hand. "Let's go, Ed. We still have a mission to do."
"...Okay." Ed agreed and took his friend's hand and stood up. "So, which of them has the claw?"
"I...I don't know." Edd admitted before looking at the bodies. "As sickening as it sounds, we'll have to search their corpses."
"Yuck." Eddy grimaced. He liked cash and all, but he'd never thought about taking it from a dead guy before. "Let's just get this over with. I'm freezing out here."
With that, the three of them spread out and began to search the bodies for the Golden Claw.
"Hey, guys! Check it out!" Eddy yelled.
"Did you find the Golden Claw?" Edd asked as he gently looked through a bandit's pockets.
"No, but I found a little bag full of gold coins!" Eddy answered as he held the gold coins in his hand. "I'M RICH!" he yelled with a laugh.
"Eddy!" Edd snapped in anger. "We're looking for the Golden Claw! We're not here to pick the pockets of the deceased!"
"What's with you? Camilla herself said that bandit loot is always up for grabs. And we could sell all this extra gear they have for more gold!" Eddy countered.
"Or we could use it ourselves." Ed said with a grin as he messed with a bow and arrow before shooting one, causing it to comically ricochet around the stone columns and making his friends dodge it before it struck his own butt. "YEOWCH!" he screamed as a pained expression stuck to his face.
"Ed! Drop the bow!" Eddy ordered. Ed, however, remained still. "Ed!...Ed?"
"Ed? Are you okay?" Edd asked as he gently poked Ed, making him tip and fall over, stiff as a board.
"I can't...move!" he said through frozen lips.
"That's strange." Edd mumbled before he noticed a few phials on the body that Ed took the bow from. He lifted one up before taking one of the phials he had and compared them. "Oh dear. I'm afraid that the arrow lodged in Ed's rear end may have been coated with a similar paralytic poison that Camilla gave us."
"You mean Ed's paralyzed? Great! How long until wears off?" Eddy grumbled.
"I'm afraid I do not know." Edd answered before a nasty gust of wind caused him and Eddy to shiver, with Ed turning blue from the cold. "W-We should get inside. Hopefully, they won't have any g-guards at the entrance."
"I'm w-w-with you, Sockhead." Eddy agreed as he and Edd began dragging Ed towards the entrance. "You find the c-claw?"
"I'm afraid n-not. They may have it ins-s-side." Edd answered as they opened the doors. Eddy took a quick peek before ushering Edd in, who had to drag Ed in by his feet.
-Bleak Falls Temple-
The Eds quickly made it inside and immediately felt the difference in the temperature.
"We're in, but be quiet." Eddy whispered as he pointed at a light on the far end of the room. "I think there are more bandits."
"Oh dear. And Ed is still paralyzed. We can't fight them in this condition." Edd pointed out.
"Then what do we do?" Eddy asked.
"While we wait for Ed's paralysis to wear off, I propose we prepare for our encounter." Edd suggested as he took the arrows he'd collected from the bandits and began applying the paralytic poison on the arrow heads. "Seeing as we now have a bow and arrows, we now have long range combat options. If we can strike them with these, we should have plenty of time to render them unconscious and proceed further in without anymore bloodshed."
"And steal any other goodies they may have." Eddy added with a grin while rubbing his hands together.
"...Yes, and that too." Edd groaned as Ed's body suddenly relaxed.
"My buttocks hurts." he said as he rubbed his butt.
"Well, now that Ed is able to move, I propose we handle those bandits." said Edd.
"Yeah, but...who's gonna use this thing?" Eddy asked as he held up the bow.
"Oh oh oh me me me!" Ed said whiling waving his hand.
"No way! Last time you tried, you shot yourself!" Eddy denied.
"Perhaps I'll give it a try this time?" Edd volunteered.
"Can you even draw the string?" Eddy asked with a smirk, earning a glare from Edd as he put the arrows in the quiver. He then took the hunting bow, crept up to a good vantage point and waited for the right moment to shoot.
"How much longer do we have to wait?" the female bandit grumbled.
"Shouldn't be too long. Once Harknir finds Arvel and brings him back, we'll make him tell us how to use the blasted thing. Then we'll gut him like a horker, find the treasure and leave this crypt for good." the male bandit explained as he stared down the path that lead deeper into the Barrow. "And if Harknir doesn't get him, the draugr most certainly will."
"Grk!"
"Hmm?" the male bandit said as he turned to see the female bandit on the ground an arrow in his should and her body in an unnatural and stiff position. He went for his sword, but flinched when he felt an arrow whiz past him. He turned in the direction in came and spotted a very nervous Edd as he tried quickly tried to ready another arrow. "You bastard!"
"Oh dear oh dear oh dear!" Edd muttered as he shot another arrow, but missed by a wide margain to his trembling hands.
"Better start saying your prayers!" the bandit growled as he approached Edd, who was now trembling in terror as he dropped the bow and took out his knife.
"S-Stay back, please!" Edd yelled as he held the knife with both hands.
"Oh no! What do we do, Eddy?!" Ed asked as he watched the bandit get closer to Edd.
"I'm thinking! I'm thinking!" Eddy answered as he looked around before spotting a small rock. He picked it up and held it towards Ed. "Quick! Throw this at him!" Eddy ordered. Ed reached back for the rock, but grabbed Eddy's arm instead. "WAIT! HOLD ON EEEDDDDDDD!" Eddy yelled as he was sent flying through the air. The bandit turned just in time to see Eddy collide with him, the both of them sent flying into a wall. Both of them landed on the ground, out like a light.
"Eddy!" Edd yelped as he quickly ran towards his friend. "Eddy! Speak to me!"
"Are we there yet, Granddad?!" Eddy slurred, his eyes spinning in their sockets before he shook his head and glared at Ed. "Idiot." he growled as he rubbed his head.
"Well, as nerve wracking as that was, we've managed to subdue both bandits." Edd stated before he saw the female bandit start to move. "I stand corrected! She's moving!"
"Oh no you don't!" Eddy yelled as he kicked quickly kicked her in the face, knocking her out. "That was close!" he said before he saw the nearby chest. "Hello!" he grinned as he went over to it.
"As greedy as always." Edd sighed before he took out a vial and dripped a few drops into the male bandit's mouth.
"Whatcha doing, Double D?" Ed asked.
"I'm feeding these two a few drops of paralytic poison. Hopefully, it'll be enough to keep them out of commission until we've long left this place." Edd answered as he fed a few drops to the female bandit.
"Hey, guys! Get over here! This thing's stuck!" Eddy grunted as he tried to open the chest.
"I suspect that it may be locked to keep others out." Edd theorized.
"See if they have a key!" Eddy ordered as he kept trying to open it.
"Oh, bossy bossy bossy." Edd muttered as he and Ed searched the bandits. They grabbed a few coins and removed their weapons, but found no key. "I'm afraid that neither of them had the key in their possession. Perhaps their friend, Harknir I believe, holds it."
"Oh man!" Eddy groaned.
"Let me, Eddy!" Ed said with a grin before he grabbed the chest with both hands and cracked it open like an egg, spilling the spoils everywhere.
"Sweet!" Eddy grinned as he gathered the gold before frowning at the 17 pieces of gold. "That's all?" he asked.
"Perhaps the bandits occupation of the Barrows has only been recent and they haven't stolen much from anyone else during their time here." Edd theorized as he picked up a health potion that had fallen from the chest, along with a book with a strange symbol he didn't recognize. "Strange. Now what could this be?" he said as he started to open it, only for Eddy to slam it close.
"Save it! We gotta find that claw!" he said as he looked down the corridor that lead deeper inside. Edd sighed before he put the book away and the three descended deeper in.
"Sheesh! What's with all these spider webs?" Eddy asked as he waved the webs out of his face.
"Maybe there are Frostbite Spiders occupying Bleak Falls Barrow. Stay on your toes." Edd answered before coming up to a strange vase. "What's this?"
"Cool." Ed said as he looked at it before opening it and putting it up to his face.
"See anything, Ed?" Eddy asked. Ed pulled his face out and looked at Eddy, a red gem in his left eye and his smiling mouth full of gold. "JACKPOT!" Eddy yelled as he slapped the back of Ed's head, making him drop the loot.
"Eddy, shh! We still have to worry about that friend the other bandits spoke about!" Edd whispered.
"Look at this! I think it's a ruby! And it's mine! All mine!" Eddy exclaimed, completely ignoring Edd. "I bet there's more! Let's find them!" the greedy Ed said before he went ahead and started searching any other burial urn he could find.
"Eddy! Be careful! The bandits!" Edd called out as Eddy ran around the corner, his friends quickly following.
"Treasure for us!" Ed laughed as he and Edd kept running after Eddy. The two of them watched Eddy round another corner, only to fall on his back into view a moment later.
"Are you alright, Eddy?" Edd asked as he looked down at Eddy, who was rubbing his head.
"Yeah, but I ran into something." Eddy answered.
"Yeah. Him." Ed answered. All three of them looked to see another bandit lying on the ground, his head having landed on a rock.
"Oh...oops." Eddy said before seeing the blood on his head. "Uh oh! Uh...he's fine, right?" he asked before blood came out of his nose. Edd reached down and felt for a pulse before giving Eddy a grim look, making Eddy pale at the realization.
"Still think it's alright to end the life of bandits?" Edd asked, earning a headshake from Eddy. "Then let us hope we only encounter this Arvel that I heard them talking about earlier."
"Yeah...sure." Eddy nodded. After taking anything valuable off the bandit's body, the trio continued deeper into the Barrows. They picked up a few more items of interest here and there before making it to a room that had a lever in the middle of the room, three strange pillars with animals carved on them and an iron gate that kept them from continuing.
"Strange." Edd said as he examined the room. "Could these pillars and the carvings on up there be connected?"
"Who cares?! More gold!" Eddy said while pointing at a small pouch on the other side of the gate, a few gold coins spilling out of it. "Finders keepers!" he yelled as he pulled the lever.
"EDDY, NO! IT COULD BE A-" Edd began before Eddy was suddenly stuck \with a dozen little darts. A second later, he was foaming at the mouth before he fell over. "...trap." Edd finished before he quickly fished a vial out of his pocket and forced Eddy to drink it. After drinking it, Eddy sat up with a look of disgust on his face.
"What was that stuff?!" he gagged.
"Camilla called it a cure poison. She believe we may have had need for it, and she was right." Edd explained. "Please refrain from simply pulling switches like that in the future! I was only given the one."
"Fine. You can pull the lever." Eddy grunted as he stood up and shaky legs. "Ed...give me a hand here with these darts."
"Okay." Ed nodded while Edd inspected the room.
"Hmm." he hummed as he felt one of the pillars before slowly turning it. "Hmm?" He then looked at the pictures on the wall before smiling. "I believe I've discovered the solution to our problem."
"Yeah? What is it-OW!" Eddy yelped when Ed pulled a dart out of Eddy's back.
"These columns contain stone carvings of animals. A bird, a snake and a fish." Edd began as he rotated a pillar before pointing up at the ceiling. "The same carvings are shown above the doorway, along with the single picture on the floor."
"So?" Eddy asked before Ed pulled a stubborn dart out from behind Eddy's ear. "Hey! Watch it, Lumpy!"
"I believe that if we rotate these pillars to match the animal carvings in the order they are shown, the lever may open the gate instead of activating another booby trap." Edd finished, earning giggles from his friends. "What?"
"You said 'booby.'" Ed chuckled, making Edd roll his eyes.
"Even with your aged bodies, I'm still talking to children." Edd said before he rotated the pillars to match the animals on the wall. "Now, let us see if my hypothesis is correct."
"Okay!" Ed said before pulling the lever. Eddy flinched at first, but then opened his eyes when he heard the gate open up.
"It appears I was correct. Shall we continue?" Edd asked.
"First thing's first. Mine!" Eddy answered as he bent over to get the money pouch. "Hello, my little babies!" he cooed before screaming in pain as he grabbed his butt.
"Got the last one!" Ed declared as he held the last dart up with a grin. Eddy scowled at him before they continued on. They stopped and looted a nearby chest, found a book titled 'Thief' and took a strange gem that was nearby before venturing further in. They began to descend a spiralling wooden set of stairs before immediately rushing back up while flailing their weapons at the small horde of Skeevers lunging at them.
"BACK! GET BACK!"
"STAY AWAY! DON'T TOUCH ME!"
"GO AWAY, CHEESE EATING MOUSE THINGY!"
After dealing with the Skeevers, they continued once more deeper into the Barrows. They were examining the items on a stone table before a faint voice could be hear.
"Is...Is someone there? Is that you Harknir? Bjorn? Soling?"
"You hear that?" Eddy asked.
"I did. Perhaps it is Arvel?" Edd wondered.
"Look, I know you guys are angry about the claw, but I need some help!" came Arvel's voice. "Please! It could come back any second!"
"It sounds like he's in distress. We should hurry!" Edd suggested. The three of them quickly began to run towards the voice before their path was blocked by a door covered in thick webs.
"Stupid spider webs!" Eddy groaned as they began to cut the webs with any sharp weapon they'd picked up from the bandits.
"Who's there?! Help me! I...Oh no! It's back! HELP!" Arvel called out frantically.
"Quick! Cut faster!" Eddy yelled.
"Cut faster! Cut faster! Cut faster!" Ed sang before they finally got through. They ran inside-
"AAAAAAHHHHH!
CRUNCH!
-just in time to see a man trapped in webbing have it's head devoured by the biggest spider they've ever seen.
"That's very disturbing." Edd grimaced.
"Hey, wait a minute! Arvel didn't get eaten in the game!" Ed suddenly said.
"Yeah! We're supposed to chase that guy for the claw! What gives, Author!?" Eddy yelled.
[Don't yell at me! Dark Lord asked for this! Now shut up and fight the spider! It's finished with Arvel!]
The three of them looked to see the gigantic Frostbite Spider was now eyeing them.
"Ed! Smash that thing! Double D! Tell Edd how to smash it!" Eddy ordered.
"Got it, Eddy!" Ed nodded before donning his warhammer. "I AM ED! SQUISHER OF SPIDERS!" Ed roared as he lunged at the spider.
"Oh dear! Violence! Eddy, I believe Ed has the situation under control!...Eddy?" the smart Edd said before seeing Eddy checking Arvel's corpse. "EDDY-" he began to yell before webs suddenly covered his vision.
"Where is it? Where is it?!" Eddy mumbled before finding the Golden Claw. "Hey guys! I got the Claw!" Eddy announced with a grin.
"HOORAY!" Ed cheered from atop the dead spider.
"Congratulations, Eddy." Edd said...from above. His friends looked to see Edd covered in webs and surrounded by smaller Frostbite Spiders. "NOW GET ME DOWN FROM HERE!"
"Can't we catch a break?" Eddy growled.
"Wait! My brain's working again!" Ed declared by he took the warhammer and chucked it at Edd. It smashed into the rock near Edd on the ceiling, causing it to crumble before he and the ceiling above them fell down onto the ground. A moment later, Ed pulled his injured friend up out of the pile of rubble. "GOT YOU DOWN, DOUBLE D!"
"...thank you, Ed." Edd wheezed in pain before he took one of the health potions Camilla gave them. After drinking it, his scratches and any internal damage slowly began to heal. "My word. This health potion is working! I actually feel much better!"
"Great! We got the claw, the bandits are dealt with and the spiders are dead. Can we go now?" Eddy asked.
"Before we do that, let us take Mr. Arvel's body down. The dead deserve respect, not to be hung up on display." Edd suggested.
"Alright, but Ed can do it. I'm not touching him again." said Eddy. Ed walked over and pulled on Arvel's body until it came lose from the web, the action causing him to fly out of Ed's grasp.
"THAT IS NOT RESPECTING THE DEAD!" Edd snapped while Eddy laughed. Edd glared a bit more he went to Arvel's body and laid it in a more peaceful and dignified way. He was about to rejoin his friends before he noticed a small notebook in Arvel's pocket. "What's this?" he asked as he gently took it out and began to read. "...Golden Claw...secret...treasure?"
"Where?!" Eddy yelled as he suddenly appeared between Edd and the book. "The claw leads to treasure?!"
"The claw demands treasure!" Ed said while playing with the Golden Claw.
"Well, according to these...notes!" Edd grunted after separating from Eddy. "It seems that Arvel stole the claw because it is the key to discovering an ancient treasure the...Nords? Buried here many years ago."
"Oh man! This could be it! What do you think the treasure is?! Gold?! Jewels!?"
"Untold wisdom?" Edd pondered with a smile.
"A lake of gravy?!" Ed suggested while drooling.
"Let's go find that treasure, boys!" Eddy proclaimed.
"I'm tried, Eddy. Couldn't we return to Riverwood and rest before trying tomorrow?" Edd asked.
"No way! We have to go to Whiterun tomorrow! Besides, we're already here. I'm not making two trips to this place!" said Eddy.
"You and your stubbornness and greed. Very well. Let us take a short rest before continuing further." Edd suggested.
"Sure, but...not this room. Don't want to deal with anymore spiders." Eddy said while looking at the wall.
"Let us return to the room with the stone table and prepare for our journey deeper into the Barrows." Edd said before they left the room, but not before Ed looked at the readers.
"SEE YOU IN PART 2!" he yelled with a grin.
