FF7 Remake: New Game Plus
Chapter 03: Costa Del Sol
AN: Hello all, welcome back. Firstly thanks to everyone who reviewed the previous chapters which tells me that there is some interest in this story. Hopefully I can keep that interest going or make it grow down the line. This chapter is a bit shorter than the last two and dialogue driven for the most part so be warned. Also I've had a few people question the pairings so I want to reiterate that this is a harem story, Cloud will be with more than two girls. I'm not advertising who because some of them won't be around until deeper into the story. I am tempted to add the Commander from FF7 Rebirth though, that one was certainly a good surprise. Anyway here is the new chapter.
Start Now:
Despite what his young age would suggest to others this was not Cloud's first time leaving Nibelheim. Even discarding the memories he had of his once future during the course of his training he'd left the village several times and by this point had explored the Nibel Area thoroughly enough that he had no reason to explore or go off from his charted path.
At least that had been his thinking until he'd received a side quest alert and opening he found something new, Monster Hunter: Cactaur which offered a 10,000 gil reward. Considering he only left home with 200 gil he had not been able to pass up that kid of reward. Because of this Cloud found himself eyeing the expanse of land that was the Corel Desert with a frown.
Thankfully it hadn't taken him long nor too far out of his way to get to this point. Unknown to most there existed a tunnel that cut though the mountain range that separated the Nibel and Corel Areas that he figured had once been used for smuggling since it was clearly manmade but with no signs of mining and had been extremely well hidden when he first stumbled across it. Going through the tunnel had saved him a lot of time, even more since he used his bike instead of riding a chocobo and as such even with this detour he knew he would make it to his destination within the 72-hour timeframe he'd been given.
"Boss we found it."
The voice had him looking over to the speaker to see his own face smirking back at him. This was one of the big benefits he got from living through Naruto's memories, while he was nowhere near as powerful as Naruto, nor could he fling out super powerful jutsu like crazy the shadow clone technique had proven invaluable to him over the years and was one of the reasons he'd finished his training so early. The technique used his chakra to create physical clones of himself that could not only interact with the physical world but think independently.
Anything he carried when he used the technique was usually copied as well, with the exception of materia so far as that merely came out as decoration. While the clones weren't all that durable the technique also allowed him to gain the knowledge and experience from the clones once they dispelled. At the moment he had several clones scattered across the desert to look for his quarry.
"Where?" questioned the original.
"10 o'clock." Said the clone.
Picking up his binoculars he followed the direction and soon spotted the distinctive form of a cactaur. It had taken nearly two hours, but the creature had finally come out of hiding and was even in the direction that he needed to go.
"Right then, give the go ahead."
The clone nodded and dispelled itself disappearing in a plum of greyish white smoke. He didn't have to wait long as less than two minutes later there was a large rumbling as the giant form of the Land Worm emerged from the sea of sand making a beeline to his right as it chased after a trio of clones that were running on the sand near a mountain a fair bit away from him, the seventh in the chain which gave Cloud a fair bit of space to work with. The cactaur thankfully was unbothered, not even flinching at the movement and Cloud took that moment to act.
With chakra infusing his body he took a running leap from the ledge of the mountain and once at the apex of his jump crated another clone that grabbed him, spun and launched him towards the unaware cactaur. As he flew he directed a hand behind him and shot out a burst of wind that propelled him even further and faster thanks to the quick usage of a wind materia.
Nearing the cactaur he drew his sword and channeling wind natured chakra directly into the blade giving it even greater cutting power before spinning and launching the blade like a javelin at the creature with the blade hitting and going right through the cactaur bisecting it easily. Nearing the ground he flipped himself and fired another more powerful blast from the wind materia which gave him a small boost up slowing his momentum. Channeling chakra through his body as he hit the sand allowed him to tank the landing without too much pain.
"I am never doing that again." Said the boy panting, how Naruto and the other Cloud had made such huge falls seem so easy to land he had no idea.
After nearly a minute to catch his breath he picked himself up and stood so he could collect his sword. Channeling a steady flow of chakra to his feet allowed him to walk on top of the sand without sinking into it even slightly making travel easier. His sword managed to create a small trench in its travel, and he smirked as he passed the bisected body of the cactaur just in time for it to dissolve into pure energy no doubt to be absorbed into the Lifestream.
He quickly received an alert that 10,000 gil had been rewarded and was in his inventory. The Inventory had unlocked in the Edge System during his fuinjutsu studies after he created his first storage seal. He'd added the storage seal to the pockets of all of his clothes though there was a limit to what he could carry that way size and weight wise though he was working on that.
Finally he found his sword had burrowed into a bit of sand nearly to the hilt and proceeded to withdraw it from the sand. Twirling it a few times to rid it of sand he placed the blade back within the sheath. That done he took off at a run across the sand for nearly 20 minutes before he escaped the sand and came across another of his clones, this one sitting on the bike. Seeing him coming the clone tossed him the helmet and dispelled itself giving him the room to sit. Swinging his leg over the side of the bike he gave a heavy sigh allowing himself to relax for a few moments before he placed his helmet on, started the bike and took off back on the path to Costa Del Sol.
Costa Del Sol was a beautiful beach side resort town located on the Eastern edge of the Corel Area. Its near constant beautiful weather had made it the most sought-after tourist spot to visit for vacation for many people the world over including government officials and top level Shinra executives and had consequently made its original founders who'd seen the potential of the land incredibly wealthy.
Lucrecia was enjoying her stay in the town, it was different from Nibelheim which had become her home, but she was very much enjoying her time relaxing in the sun. She'd arrived several days ago, leaving Nibelheim right after departing from Tifa's party.
Today however, was a bit different and her outfit reflected this as she'd carefully selected it so that she'd fit in lounging on the beach or in a more informal business meeting. The pink or rather rose color sundress she'd chosen had certainly turned heads as she'd walked the boardwalk which was a positive as that had been her intention. Entering the restaurant and giving the name of the reservation she was soon guided upstairs to an outdoor dining pavilion, and she was pleased to see that the person she was meeting with was already there sitting in the corner of the balcony directly beside the railing beneath a parasol.
The person in question was a young man clean shaven with short platinum blond hair and blue eyes. From her angle she could see he wore a pair of beige shorts and a white pullover collared shirt with two buttons that he'd left undone. As she stepped out she realized that the balcony was pretty much empty with the sole exception being another young man also clean shaven with a slim build, tan skin, short slicked-back black hair, dark brown eyes, and a Bindi accessory on his forehead. He dressed similarly to the first young man only his shirt was light blue, also whereas the first young man seemed relax the second watched her intently.
'Bodyguard.' Mused the woman internally as she moved to the table with the first young man who stood as she approached.
"Dr. Crescent thank you for meeting with me. My name is Rufus Shinra." Said the man.
"I must admit I was intrigued. I wondered if you had inherited a scientific mind as your uncle possessed." Said the woman.
"My uncle, you knew him?" questioned Rufus.
"Not personally, but I've studied some of his work and I've gotten to know his friend Diego quite well over the last few years." Said Lucrecia.
"I see. Still thank you for meeting with me. You've spent the last two decades pretty much unreachable from what I understand." Said the young man,
"A necessary precaution, I had no desire to share Professor Gast's fate." Said Lucrecia.
"You know what happened to him, we've been unable to locate him for years as well." Said the young man.
"He's dead, has been for just over 14 years now." Said Lucrecia.
"I see, I'll have to update his file and stop the search then." Said Rufus sighing.
"Why is it you've been searching for us?" questioned Lucrecia.
"I want to bring you back into the fold. Your files indicate you were brilliant and valuable members of our science division. I'm hoping bringing you in will give it a boost." Said Rufus.
"Full transparency." Said Lucrecia.
"Please."
"I won't be a pawn, nor will I work under Hojo. If I agree to return it is as a partner, I want my own division and the ability to choose what projects we work on." Said Lucrecia.
"The is a tall ask. Professor Hojo is the head of our Science & Research Division." Said Rufus.
"Its non-negotiable, otherwise I'll be killed, and Hojo will steal my research and claim my work as his own should I return." Said Lucrecia.
"Professor Gast." Said Rufus softly in realization.
"That wasn't the first time. I had a friend once, Vincent, he was from the Department of Administrative Research and had been assigned as our bodyguard on the Jenova Project. Vincent disagreed with Hojo's desire to experiment on humans, so Hojo shot him in the chest. Hojo kept him alive if barely but only so that he could experiment on Vincent himself, in the end I used my research from the project I was working on at the time in order to save him." Explained Lucrecia.
"Since we have agreed to full transparency I am currently the head of Human Resources. I can offer you everything you ask but I'll need something good to get the President to agree." Said Rufus referring to the man as if he wasn't his father.
"I believe I have something that could prove convincing." Said Lucrecia reaching for her bag and retrieving her tablet.
Cloud made it to Costa Del Sol with time to spare arriving just after the 53rd hour of his time limit had passed. His bike had run out of fuel halfway there and considering the 15 gallons of extra fuel he'd had sealed within the tank it had given him a great idea of what it was capable of. He'd sealed the bike inside of a storage scroll he designed specifically for it and had travelled the rest of the way on foot.
For most others such a thing would have been much more daunting or necessitated the use of a chocobo and taken more time to arrive. Cloud's body was enhanced with chakra increasing all of his physical abilities several times over which allowed him to run the rest of the way faster than a chocobo could travel and even rival cars and trucks with his speed. He'd lost a couple hours resting but those were hours put to good use and he'd still arrived with plenty of time to spare.
Of course a town of this size that was such a major tourist attraction also had multiple places to stay. With several options to choose from he chose the Emerald Horizon Resort and had been able to get a room pretty easily considering he'd arrived rather late in the evening the previous day. The room itself was a suite with a great view of the beach and the ocean that he was able to enjoy for a bit this morning. At the moment he was taking a walk down the boardwalk now wearing a pair of green swim trunks that went nearly to his knees along with a white tank top and a pair of slides to cover his feet.
"Cloud!"
The sound of his name being called had him looking towards it and frowning when he didn't see anyone he knew before he was told to look up. Following the advice he was surprised to see Dr. Crescent waving at him from a balcony area.
"Come on up." Said the woman.
For a moment he debated simply jumping up to the balcony as he could clear that height easily but decided against it only a moment after the idea came to him. Walking into the building he was happy to discover it was a restaurant, which meant he might have just found a place to eat depending on their breakfast menu.
He was quickly greeted and guided upstairs by a member of the staff and as he cleared the doorway to the pavilion and approached the doctor he quickly took in his surroundings finding only three people were up there which made a bit of sense as it was still really early, and the streets didn't have much of a crowd yet. The man she was sitting with was a bit familiar, but he couldn't figure out why.
"Morning Aunt Lucy." Said Cloud as he approached getting a raised eyebrow from the man she was sitting with.
"He's not my actual nephew, I'm close with his mother and he started calling me that when he was around seven." Said Lucrecia.
"Anyway Cloud this is Rufus Shinra." Said Lucrecia
Cloud's eyes widened in surprise with the name and immediately he pictured him older and coming up with a match. Then he remembered the other man that was up there he hadn't paid him much mind before but aging him up he knew without doubt that he could only by Tseng.
"Rufus this is Cloud Strife, the boy I was telling you about." Said the woman causing the young mans eyes to narrow slightly.
"So you're Uncle Robert's son. I can certainly see some similarities." Said Rufus.
"I wouldn't know anything about similarities, just what I've been told by Diego." Said Cloud.
"Yes your father certainly kept his distance. Despite this every year he sent me a gift for my birthday until one day it never arrived and no more followed. Now I understand why, you have my condolences." Said Rufus.
"You're accepting this rather easily." Said Cloud.
"We ran a blood test and compared it to yours that I have on file." Said Lucrecia.
"So Cloud what brings you so far from home?" questioned Rufus.
"No. I'm actually on my way to Midgar. I was actually heading over to book a place on the next ship when you called me up." Said Cloud
"I don't think your girlfriends were happy about that." Said Lucrecia.
"Betrothed actually. I proposed before I left, and they accepted." Said Cloud surprising both of them.
After saying this he withdrew his wallet and removed a picture before handing it to her. Accepting it she saw Cloud standing in the center with Aerith on his left and Tifa on his right all of them with their arms linked and the girls wearing their necklaces.
"They're wearing the necklaces; I can't believe I missed it!" exclaimed the woman.
Sitting the picture down the woman hurriedly pulled Cloud into a hug congratulating him. Cloud blushed at the feel of her breasts pressed against his chest. Rufus curious picked up the picture and looked it over and was impressed. The two girls were certainly lookers and had to be 15-16 judging by the way they looked, though there was something about the girl on the left that caught his attention, something about her was very familiar.
"Congratulations Cloud, though what is the significance of the necklaces?" questioned Rufus.
"They are Betrothal necklaces. It's an old tradition. When a young man was courting a young lady and wished to marry her he would carve out the pendant from stone and create a necklace using it. If it was accepted and worn the engagement was recognized as official." Said Lucrecia
"You made these?" questioned Rufus surprised.
"No, Diego made them. Apparently they were commissioned years ago by Aerith's mother. She'd been telling our parents for years the three of us would get married." Said Cloud.
"They were inseparable even as kids. That's actually why I'm surprised they let you leave." Said Lucrecia.
"Aerith will be leaving in a few weeks as well. She's going to stay with her aunt so she can help look after her grandfather. As for Tifa well you know her dad." Said Cloud.
The Shinra Mansion in Costa Del Sol was not a year-long residence, more of a vacation home that only saw use when its owners needed a break. Unlike other homes owned by the family this one boasted an inner courtyard with a glass ceiling that could be retracted to enjoy the atmosphere of the area. In the center of the courtyard was a fountain while a pair of small tables sat to the left and right of the fountain with three chairs surrounding them. It was here that Rufus could be found with a half empty glass of liquor in front of him. Finally he sighed and picked up his phone and after scrolling through contacts selected his father's personal number. The phone rang three times before it was picked up.
"Rufus how's the beach?" questioned his father.
"I have news, you're not going to like it."
"Wutai?" questioned the man.
It was an understandable question and his father's primary concern over the last few years ever since the onset of the war. Of course it did not escape his knowledge that the entirety of the war could be blamed on his fathers greed and lust for power, but he wouldn't voice that.
"No it's more personal." Said Rufus.
"Alright, go ahead."
"Uncle Robert is dead. He died eight years ago."
After he spoke the words the line was silent with the only sound being the heavy breathing on the other end from his father. This was no surprise as whatever else one wanted to say about the man President Ronald Shinra did have one soft spot, his family. He was not an overly emotional man but his brother leaving had seen him throw himself into his work and his father dying a few years later had gotten the same result in turn taking Shinra Manufacturing and expanding massively to the company it was today.
"I see. Do you know how?" questioned the man his tone heavy.
"A heart virus. I don't know the specifics though. He was living in Nibelheim at the time with his wife and son. He is buried there under the name Robert Strife."
"Nibelheim, all this time and he was in the one place I didn't think he'd go." Mused the man lowly clearly speaking more to himself than his son.
"I'll need to make arrangements we need to properly pay our respects. Is there anything else?"
"I met his son Cloud today. He will be accompanying me to Midgar. He was already heading that way for the SOLDIER exam." Said Rufus.
"How old is he?" questioned the father.
"13, he'll be 14 in August." Said Rufus.
"He was only 5 years old." Said the man once again clearly thinking out loud.
"A friend of uncle Robert's named Diego was there and helped his mother raise him. His mother is also the Mayor of Nibelheim as well." Said Rufus.
"Diego Cortez, that is a name that I have not heard in decades. It seems he was more loyal than my father gave him credit for. Anything else?"
"He doesn't want any special treatment, wants to earn his way so much in fact that he wasn't even going to tell us about himself. I only know because someone I was interviewing introduced us. Also he's already engaged with two girls." Said Rufus.
"Prideful and has clearly inherited the family charm." Said the man.
"I have other news but that can wait until I return in a few days." Said Rufus.
"That's fine. Rest up this will be your last vacation until the war is over. Spend some time with Cloud, get to know him." Said his father.
"That's the plan, he's coming over in a few hours after I meet with a few people."
A few hours later saw Cloud and Lucrecia arriving at the Shinra mansion. They'd both changed before arriving with Cloud now wearing a short sleeve button down shirt with a pair of beige cargo shorts while Lucrecia had replaced her early outfit with a light blue sundress with a pair of white sandals. They were met at the door by Tseng who guided them to the courtyard where they joined Rufus at the table to the left of the fountain taking the empty seats while Tseng turned and left them heading up the nearby staircase to another part of the house.
"Now that we are in a more secure area we can speak freely as I'm sure you are both aware some things simply cannot be spoken in public." Said Rufus.
"True enough." Said Lucrecia.
"So before we get started what exactly do you know about the company Cloud?" questioned Rufus.
"Not much. I know a bit about Shinra Manufacturing but what it has been turned into since then is mostly a mystery." Said Cloud.
This wasn't actually true; he knew a fair bit thanks to the memories of the other Cloud but even he hadn't known too much outside of the basic knowledge that everyone in the company knew. Furthermore his training had taught him that information was key and this was a valuable to chance to gather information both on the company and on Rufus himself.
"I figured as much, that however will need to change. Your father was never actually disinherited so you have inherited all of his company assets now that we both know about you and verified your identity but we can speak on that later." Said Rufus getting a nod stunned nod from Cloud.
That was certainly not something that he'd expected, he hadn't known how President Shinra felt about his brother but according to Diego his grandfather was a bastard and his father had been sure he'd been disinherited. His training had taught him how to read people and to tell the truth from lies so he knew that this statement was actually true.
"For an overview the Shinra Electric Power Company is as the name suggests primarily a power company supplying mako energy and thus electricity easily and widely available. While the company did start as a weapons manufacturer the discovery of mako changed the vision for it and under my father's direction the company has grown into a megacorporation with multiple divisions.
The divisions are Advanced Weaponry, Research and Development, Urban Planning, Space and Aeronautics and Public Security. Most departments of the company fall under the umbrella of these five. My department is one of the few that is not under the purview of any of the others as I am the Head of the Human Resources department." Said Rufus.
"Meaning that would put you in charge of not just the hiring and firing but keeping the others in check as well." Said Cloud.
"Yes, though I won't be in this position much longer. I am being groomed to take the position of President and will soon become the companies Vice President once the war is over." Said Rufus.
"As you know I was once part of the Research and Development Division as part of the Science Department. I have agreed to return to the company in a new position." Said Lucrecia
"Why would you do that, you said you'd never go back." Said Cloud.
"For you. I'd not willingly let you walk into the den of the beast and not do my best to support you." Said Lucrecia.
"What about Hojo?" questioned Cloud.
"Dr. Crescent will work independently in a new subdivision of which she will be the head. She will report directly to me instead of to Professor Hojo. Unfortunately he's simply too powerful within the company for even me to do anything against at the moment." Said Rufus.
"So what's the plan?" questioned Cloud causing both of them to blink.
"It's obvious taking out Hojo is going to require some corporate maneuvering if you can't just fire or demote him. But as much as I hate to see it, he's just one problem. I've travelled enough to know that people, at least on this continent are tired of this war and are beginning to blame Shinra for the deaths of their relatives. The propaganda machine may be working but it's only a matter of time before people figure out the reason for this war." Said Cloud.
"And what do you believe the reason behind the war is?" questioned Rufus.
"Shinra wanted to expand into Wutai and that government wouldn't let them." Said Cloud.
"That's quite the accusation." Said Rufus.
"True but it's a logical one, especially if you remember what happened with Junon. Once Diego pointed that out to me I couldn't think of any other reason. Once enough people put those pieces into place trust in the company will nosedive." Said Cloud.
"I'm guessing this ties into why you want to join SOLDIER." Said Rufus.
"It does. The war has dragged on, and I want to help put an end to it." Said Cloud.
"Even if as you believe we started the war?" questioned Rufus.
"There's an old world saying my dad was fond of. 'With great power comes great responsibility'. Right now there are people out there laying down their lives people I know, people I don't. With what I can do, hell even without all of it I've got no right to do any less than them. Besides a mako reactor in Wutai would certainly help the planet." Said Cloud.
"You're the first person I've ever heard say mako reactors help the planet." Said Rufus, though he was more stuck on the rest of his statement.
"There's a reason for that but I'll tell you that later. We've gotten off the subject a bit." Said Cloud.
"True enough, but we will come back to that. Now you'll learn more about the company in depth later so let's focus on specific aspects. Public Security is the military arm of the company, which is composed of the army, police force and the Roboguard. Outside of Public Security are two more departments General Affairs and SOLIDIER. General Affairs is an intelligence agency and outside of Shinra personnel a group that most people are unaware of.
They are important as they often work hand in hand with members of SOLDIER. Then finally there is SOLDIER itself, which is our elite fighting force. SOLDIER at its inception was an elite task force composed of the very best from the best of the Security Forces. While it is still an elite force it is now a separate entity in itself and is composed of three classes, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with 3rd class being the lowest rung of that ladder." Said Rufus before taking a drink at which point Lucrecia spoke up.
"While they are known as an elite force in truth they are super soldiers. They possess superhuman strength, speed, and agility thanks to the fact that they are bathed in raw mako which gives them the characteristic glow to their eyes." Said the woman.
Cloud was about to speak before he paused as a prompt had come up letting him know that he could keep on his current course or reveal a bit of his own knowledge now. Everything that had been said so far was common knowledge amongst Shinra employees and even regular civilians in Midgar.
"So that's what he's doing." Said Cloud.
"What do you mean?" questioned Rufus.
"Hojo, he's using mako and supercharging the Jenova cells." Said Cloud.
"What do you mean supercharging?" questioned Lucrecia.
"I mean the cells he implanted are in their natural state inert. Using mako as a catalyst he is supercharging the cells and activating them." Said Cloud.
"Who is this Jenova you two are speaking of?" questioned Rufus.
"Jenova is what Professor Gast called the remains of a mummified alien he found in the North Crater a little over 30 years ago. We believed it to have been the remains of an Ancient after which Projects Jenova and SOLDIER were approved." Said Lucrecia.
"I've never heard of either of these projects." Said Rufus eyes narrowed.
"Project Jenova was a series of experiments with the goal of creating a human/ancient hybrid divided into two sub-projects designated Project G and Project S. Project G was proposed by Dr. Hollander and Project S was proposed by Hojo though it wasn't his idea. Professor Gast left the company in protest calling the entire thing inhumane." Said Lucrecia.
"The problem is that thing they found was not a Cetra. It wasn't until he met Ifalna that he learned what it actually was that he'd uncovered. That creature landed on this planet 2,000 years ago and nearly destroyed it causing the near extinction of the Cetra as a consequence." Said Cloud.
"The Ancients are said to have been extremely powerful so how did it accomplish that?" questioned Rufus intrigued.
"They were also pacifist, healers for the most part. Regardless Jenova accomplished this by turning them into monsters. That thing was only stopped when a group of them managed to seal it away in its landing site." Said Cloud.
"How exactly do you know this?" questioned Rufus.
"The same way Professor Gast found out, I asked his wife, or rather his widow." Said Cloud
"Professor Gast was married?" questioned Rufus in surprise.
"Yes, unfortunately both she and their daughter experienced the bad side of Shinra's hospitality under Hojo's cruel hands." Said Cloud.
"I remember something about an escaped experiment a few years ago but I didn't think that's what they were talking about." Said Rufus frowning before shaking his head.
"Why is it you think mako is able to activate these Jenova cells?" questioned Rufus.
"Because mako isn't natural to this planet. Jenova corrupted a part of the Lifestream and used it to infect and turn the ancients into monsters. While the creature itself was dealt with the corruption never was and was given 2,000 years to spread. The mako reactors gather and use up that tainted energy, though what you'll do when it runs out is another problem." Said Cloud.
They stayed and talked for quite a while longer and by the time they left it was clear that they'd left Rufus with a lot to think about.
Over the next two days Cloud got to enjoy his time in Costa Del Sol hanging out on the beach, swimming, and water skiing amongst a host of other activities. He spent more time with Rufus as well just getting to know his newfound cousin better and talking about there respective lives. He also told him a bit about Tifa and Aerith with Rufus revealing he hadn't even thought about marriage.
Cloud just informed him that people in Nibelheim tended to marry young, at least those who stayed in the village did. Still because of this he'd sent a few girls his cousins way and was rewarded with the Wingman achievement. During this time he also found himself walking in on a presentation that he realized quickly was for the Gold Saucer to which he donated 5,000 gil and while not a lot in the grand scheme of things it made him one of the first investors for the project.
Finally the day came when they would be leaving Costa Del Sol behind. Cloud was surprised upon checking out of his hotel when he was refunded his original payment and informed that his stay had been paid for by Shinra's company account. When he learned that the same happened with Dr. Crescent he decided not to make a fuss.
They met Tseng at the dock where the Shinra-01 was anchored, this was a cruise ship owned by President Shinra that they were informed he tended to rent out as a ferry to Costa Del Sol. They were informed they had rooms in the VIP area of the ship and were given there tickets finding their cabins were right next to each other. They were also informed that they would be sailing to Junon but would fly from there to Midgar upon arrival.
Reaching his cabin Cloud found himself standing in a large suite with a balcony looking out over the ocean. As he settled in he checked the Edge system and was surprised that there was nothing waiting for him as far as new achievements. His questline had been updated it still showed Begin Your Story but now showed Costa Del Sol as completed. Closing the Edge system he decided to go exploring, but not before retrieving his sword from the seal he'd placed it in upon arriving in Costa Del Sol and securing it to his side. Once properly armed once more he headed out to explore the ship.
AN: That's it, the chapter is over. For the purposes of this story I am using the Remake age for Rufus which has him 9 years older than Cloud, so he would be 22 at this point in the story. Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed this one. Thanks for reading and please review. Until next time, LATER.
