AN (Author's Note): Hello to the entire reading community! This fanfiction is set after the events of the last chapter released of the series so far, specifically after the fourth season, with the purpose of exploring more about Blythe's mom and Blythe's ability to talk with animals.

I do not own these characters; all credits go to their creators and Hasbro.

Chapter 1. A Journey Beyond Language.

Blythe settled into the soft sheets of her bed, the distant city noise barely a whisper compared to the silence of her room. With each breath, the weight of the day faded, drawing her closer to the realm of sleep. Yet tonight, her mind sought not rest, but answers.

On the threshold between wakefulness and sleep, Blythe suddenly found herself in her room, but something was different. The walls hummed with a soft buzz, almost imperceptible, as if charged with secrets about to be unveiled. Before her, her mother, Lauren, appeared as vivid and clear as if she had never left, with a smile lighting up the room.

"The answers you seek have always been here, Blythe," said Lauren "Betty" Baxter, Blythe's mom, her voice echoing in the dream space.

The scene shifted, transporting Blythe to a moment in the past, one she had never lived but felt deeply in her heart. It was a cloudy afternoon, and her mother was in the same apartment, years ago, surrounded by animals that looked on with unusual intensity. A cat approached, meowing in a way that Lauren seemed to understand perfectly. It was then that a special glow lit up her eyes, a sign that something extraordinary was about to happen.

Blythe watched, fascinated, as her mother and the animals began to communicate, not with words, but through a deeper mutual understanding than language. An invisible bond connected them, one that Blythe knew, deep in her being, she also shared.

The dream faded as abruptly as it had begun, leaving Blythe awake in her bed, her heart beating against her chest. Something within her had changed; a door had opened, and she knew she would not rest until she uncovered all the secrets her mother had left behind.

Following her dream, Blythe, driven by a mix of curiosity and a deep need to better understand her mother and her own unique ability, decides to spend time with the pets right after school. Walking through the school hallways, Blythe encounters Youngmee.

Seeing her, Blythe lights up with a smile and greets her enthusiastically. "Hi, Youngmee!"

Youngmee returns the smile, equally happy to see her friend. "Hi, Blythe!"

It was then that Youngmee noticed Blythe's thoughtful expression. "Blythe, are you okay? You seem thoughtful," Youngmee asks with concern.

"Yes, it's just that... I had a dream about my mom last night. It felt so real," Blythe starts, hesitant at first but feeling more secure as she shares with her friend. "She was showing me something important, something about my ability to talk with animals. It made me think that understanding them might go beyond words."

Youngmee, always supportive of Blythe, leans in, encouraging her to continue. "That sounds amazing, Blythe. Do you think it means something?"

Blythe nods, her determination growing. "Yes, I think my mom was trying to tell me that our connection with animals isn't limited to just talking. It's something deeper, more intuitive. Maybe, there are ways to communicate and understand them that we haven't explored yet."

"Then you should follow that feeling," advises Youngmee, her tone full of encouragement. "If there's more to discover, I'm sure you'll find it. And I'll be here to help with whatever you need. Maybe, this is the beginning of something new for you, a way to deepen that special connection you have."

With her heart filled with gratitude for her friend's support, Blythe smiles. "Thank you, Youngmee. That means a lot to me. Now, I think it's time to go see the pets. With them, I've always felt that special connection. If there are more ways to understand and communicate, I'm sure we'll discover them together."

Youngmee nods with enthusiasm. "Exactly! And remember, Blythe, every discovery starts with a step. I'm excited to see where this journey takes you."

Encouraged by their conversation, Blythe and Youngmee share one more moment of encouragement before Blythe says goodbye and heads to the pet shop, filled with hope and curiosity about what the future holds in her unique journey of discovery and connection.

Where the pets were waiting for her, anticipating daily visits from her, Blythe entered; her entry was immediate. The pets gathered about, their eyes full of solicitude and interest, when they saw serious abnormality in her behavior.

"Hi, guys!" Blythe greets them with a smile.

"Hi, Blythe!" the pets respond in unison.

"I want to talk to you about something really important," Blythe says, starting with a mixture of both nervousness and excitement in her voice. "I had a dream about my mum last night. It was like too real. She was showing me something important, something about us."

Zoe, the dog, approached first, her head tilted with curiosity. "About us? What did she show you, dear Blythe?"

Blythe sighed, thought-filled. "It's not so much what I saw, but what I felt. It felt like my mom was telling me that even though it doesn't give concrete answers from the journal, this is what the bonding and sharing of things is translated into."

Penny Ling, the panda, stepped forward and placed a comforting hand on her arm. "That seems like something very special, Blythe. No matter what, we're here to support you. Could you explain a bit more about how that connection with your mom made you feel?"

"We're going to figure it out and experiment together," Blythe is trying to sound more empowering in her voice. "We are going to find the new way of communication—maybe not by words, with actions, with smells, with the heart."

"Yes. Always believed that there is much more to communication than just words. Finally, this may be our chance to explore those avenues for connecting deeper with the world and people around," added Russell the hedgehog, a tingle of excitement in his voice.

Pepper the skunk chuckled with that kind of humor only she had. "And I thought my only talent involved clearin' the room with my natural 'perfume.' Who would've thunk I'd be a part of a team unlockin' the secrets of the heart?"

Sunil the mongoose hesitated forward, plainly eager but also plainly a little frightened by the proposal of adventure. "Uh, this sounds, uh, quite exciting but also a little...scary," he was telling. "Magic, after all, has its language—one that needs no words but can say a lot, from amazement to happiness," he spoke with hopeful voice.

Vinnie the gecko says with just as much spin, "I wonder if dance moves can be part of our new communication. I have lots to express, ya know!"

Loyal, faithful, understanding as ever—the pets come around Blythe. They both begin embarking on a series of adventures and experiments together to finally find out, through her mother's spirit and teaching rather than the words from a journal, what her ability may limit her or possibly allow.

"Perhaps," Blythe further commented, "in the end, we shall find something much bigger than whatever is there; something about bonding, love, and understanding which transcends language."

And for the first time in their lives, an instant of harmonious determination formed amidst Blythe and her animal friends. And so, together, they embarked on an adventure to discover, explore, and learn with an open mind for all the infinite possibilities that their special family heritage could unfold. This journey is based on the strength of love and friendship, which brings them even closer and strengthens their bond, showing how powerful their love and friendship are within the interspecies connection.

Minka, the spider monkey, leaped into the air. "So, it's a discovery adventure! That should be fun!"

Blythe smiled, feeling encouraged and warmed by her friends' support. "Exactly. Let's do it together. Let's come up with new ways."

With courage and the inspiration of her mother, Blythe prepares to discover and create new ways of communication and understanding, drawing even closer to the essence of the legacy her mother left behind.

AN: Blythe has always been communicating with pets through the most known form of language among humans, which is "verbal language." Because of this, Blythe wants to see if she is capable of understanding other extensions of language with the pets, such as body language, olfactory language, visual language, among others, in a more advanced way than other people.
