Chapter 1: Set a year after Casita is rebuilt. The night of a celebration, Alma stumbles upon a sight that not only angers her but brings quite the wrath upon someone the family thought could be trusted.

OC infested chapters ahead.

Not sure if I'll be able to do the characters right but I will try my best!

Also most of the one shots from me will be centered on Mirabel and Alma's relationship improving.

Don't like any of the one shots posted? Don't bother reading :)

Enjoy!

Alma was making her way up the stairs to her room as the party downstairs was just starting to tone down for the night. Her daughter, Julieta, told her that she would ensure that all the guests would leave once the party was over. She was about to pass by Mirabel's room when a shout caused her to stop in her tracks.

"No! No, get off!"

She about broke the door, opening it as quickly as she did to find the sight of Señor Santiago pinning Mirabel down on the floor. Both of their clothes were torn up and pulled down quite a bit. She noticed how bruised up Mirabel was all over.

"What is going on here?!" Alma about screamed out as she rushed forward, startling Señor Santiago enough for Mirabel to push him off as she scrambled away from him. Her tear stained face held a frightened expression which broke Alma's heart.

"A-Abuela..." Mirabel whimpered out as lots of tears flowed freely down her face.

Señor Santiago jumped to his feet as Alma reached him and began to yell at him.

"What do you think you were doing to Mirabel?! How dare you touch her!"

"Señora! I can explain! I-"

"What's happening?!" Isabela's voice cut him off as they both turned to find some of the family near the doorway peering inside. Another whimper from Mirabel caught her eldest sister's attention, who quickly ran over to her and kneeled down "Mira! Are you okay?"

Mirabel let out a noise as she scooted backwards away from her, still with a frightened expression upon her face "D-Don't come near.."

"Agustín! Félix! Please escort Señor Santiago out of our home and to a holding cell! I will deal with him in the morning!" Alma seethed out before she approached her youngest granddaughter just as Julieta reached her.

Agustín and Félix wasted no time in grabbing hold of Señor Santiago roughly and shoved him out the door. Luisa and Camilo followed after just in case the man decided to do anything.

When Pepa had seen what was happening, she made sure to lead Antonio away and simply told him that a bad man was trying to harm Mirabel but the family had been able to stop him when asked by him.

As soon as Mirabel noticed her Abuela kneel down in front her, she latched onto her and tightened her grip upon her. She began to sob loudly as Alma, though surprised by the sudden action, wrapped her arms around her and whispered soothing words hoping to calm her down. Julieta and Isabela watched in shock.

Though Mirabel's and Alma's relationship had improved over a year and they become close, they were both surprised that Mirabel chose her over them for comfort.

Mirabel's sobs began to disappear as she continued being held by her Abuela and soon she fell asleep against her.

Alma motioned for Julieta and Isabela to help her get Mirabel into her bed.

A few hours later after things had calmed down, Mirabel began to stir awake. She opened her eyes and though she didn't have her glasses on, she started to panic at not seeing her Abuela anywhere in her room "Abuela? Abuela! Abuela! Where are you?!" She cried out.

The door burst open to Alma and Julieta rushing inside "Mirabel? What is it? Are you okay?" Alma asked as she sat upon her bed. She grabbed Mirabel's glasses and handed them to her.

"I-I...I woke up and you w-weren't here..." Mirabel whimpered out as she hugged her Abuela. She felt her return the hug as her mother joined in the hug as well "M-Mama..." She turned her head to face her mother with a tiny smile.

"Mirabel...do you feel up to talking about what happened?" Alma asked hesitatingly, quite unsure if that was the right thing to do.

Mirabel flinched and buried her face against her Abuela for a few moments before she lifted it away with a frown "H-He...he followed me to my room while you were all too busy to notice and at first he was simply t-talking to me...but he began to touch me...and even though I-I attempted to shout to Dolores..." She paused as tears began to appear in her eyes "He slapped me then pinned me on the floor where...where..." She let out a small sob.

"It's okay Mirabel..." Alma said calmly as she tried to soothe her "You don't have to continue...I think I understand what else happened"

"I'm just glad that your Abuela stopped him from doing anything else" Julieta said as she reached out with a comforting hand and placed it on her daughter's cheek lovingly.

A knock upon the door startled Mirabel into burying her face once more against her Abuela and began to shake with a bit of fear. Isbela peered inside with an uncertain expression on her face "Mama...I know you said not to bother Mirabel but I became too worried and just wanted to check on her"

"It's quite alright" Julieta replied as she motioned for her to continue coming inside the room.

Mirabel pulled away from her Abuela to see her eldest sister in the doorway of her room.

Isabela hesitated before she walked over to her sister's bed "Mirabel...are you doing okay?"

"Much better" Mirabel said with a small smile.

"That's good...I wish you hadn't had to go through that" Isabela muttered the last part but it was loud enough for Mirabel to hear. She let out a small gasp as her sister grabbed her arm and pulled her into a hug.

"I'm sorry for reacting as I-"

Isabela cut her off saying "No, no it's fine" She returned the hug and nuzzled her chin on the top of her sister's head "I'm sure anyone else...including me would have reacted the same way"

Mirabel's stomach suddenly rumbled which caused both girls to begin chuckling.

Julieta got up and walked towards the door "I'll go fetch some food for you"

After she left, there was silence for a few minutes.

Mirabel was still hugging her sister when she mumbled out just loud enough for her sister to hear her "This isn't the first time...that he's touched me..."

"What?!" Isbela screeched "How many times has he touched you?! How long has he been doing this without us noticing?!" She pulled back from her sister with shock on her face.

"What did you just say?" Alma gasped out.

"S-Since I was eleven...it was always...when I went out into the town...while everyone else was too busy..." Mirabel spoke softly as a few tears slipped down her face "I d-did try to tell mama...but I was always told by Abuela to stop distracting her..."

"Mira...I'm so sorry" Alma said as she placed a hand on her shoulder.

The door opened up to reveal Julieta returning with a bowl of soup. She noticed their expressions and asked "What's the matter?"

"This isn't the first time that something like this has happened to Mirabel and it's all my fault that it wasn't stopped sooner" Alma explained, admitting her part in allowing that man into their home freely like the rest of the townspeople. Had she been a better Abuela to Mirabel, this would have never happened.

"What?!" Julieta yelled as she shook with anger.

Sorry to leave it here but I do have a part 2 planned. For now, I'd love to work on any requests you all have! :)
