A/N: Sorry for taking a while to post this. It took me a while to figure out how to write this. I'm still not sure I wrote this well enough.

Request by SlytherinGoddess22 : What if Mirabel got a gift of waterbending at age 8? Part 1

I hope this as you wanted it! If not, I'm more than willing to rewrite it.

There will also be a part 2 & part 3 to this! :)

Enjoy!

She still remembers when it happened.

She had been arguing with Isabela about getting in the way again when Isabela used her powers to grow some vines and throw a vase of water at her sister, intending to douse her in water. She closed her eyes and threw out her hands to block the water from hitting her face but never felt the water touch her at all.

She heard her eldest sister gasp and slowly she opened up her eyes to find the water...just floating in the air. She let out a gasp as she stared at the water in front of her. She slowly lowered her hands and watched as the water dropped onto the floor with a loud splashing sound.

"D-D...Did you just..." Isabela stuttered out as she continued staring wide eyed at her sister "Did you control the water just now?!"

Mirabel just merely stared down at the water puddle on the floor 'Was that me? Did I hold the water in the air?' She thought as she turned her glance to her sister "I think...I think I did that!" A smile broke out upon her face. She raised her hands again but nothing happened.

The smile on her face began to fall before she noticed the water puddle shaking a bit. Thoughts of the water moving, even just a bit, began to fill her mind as she kept her hands hovering over the water.

Soon a small drop of water floated up but it didn't stay up long before it splashed down on the puddle.

"M-Mirabel..." Isabela spoke as she watched "Mirabel, I think you finally got your gift"

"My gift? I have a gift?" Mirabel gasped out as tears began to spill from her eyes "I finally got my gift?"

"Dolores! Tell mama to come here! Tell her it's important!" Isabela shouted as a smile appeared on her face. She turned back to find Mirabel had crouched down on the floor next to the puddle with a sad expression upon her face "Mirabel? What's wrong?"

"Why now?" Mirabel mumbled as she stared down at the puddle.

"Mira?" Isabela walked over and knelt down beside her sister just as their mother walked into the room.

"Girls? Dolores told me that you needed-" Julieta stopped talking as she saw them on the floor "What's the matter?" She walked over to them.

"Mirabel finally got her gift!" Isabela announced proudly.

"What? What do you mean?" Julieta asked, confusion in her tone.

"I-I...I threw water at her and when she put out her hands, the water was floating in the air" Isabela admitted as she explained.

"You threw water at her, Isabela?! That's not a nice thing to do!" Julieta scolded before she realized what else she was told.

Mirabel decided to see if she could show her mother that she really did have a gift so she held out her hands again. After a few minutes of nothing happening, another droplet of water floated up to sit between her hands "See, mama?"

Julieta let out a gasp as she stared at her youngest daughter "Mirabel!" She smiled as she placed a hand on her daughter's cheek lovingly "This is a wonderful thing!"

Mirabel giggled "Now I can be like everyone else! Now I can be helpful"

"You were already helpful, Mira"

Mirabel was shocked, for it wasn't her mother who said this but her sister.

Even Julieta was shocked at what Isabela had said.

"I was?" Mirabel asked as she let the droplet drop onto the floor.

Like I said, there will be part 2 and part 3 for this request.
