TDI. Chapter 12: Doesn't matter how. Just be quick!
(Dock of Shame)
We can see Chris in the middle of the dock, "Last time on Total Drama Island …" The camera shows the food truck that the dolphin was driving, then switches to the campers in the kitchen, "Our campers had to dust off their old cookbooks and recipes to be able to cook something at least edible."
Now we can see Geoff, DJ, and Duncan dealing with Harold's case, "In the case of the Bass, with the objective to teach Harold a lesson, the guys pranked him until he learned to not leave his undies all over the cabin... I just wished they hadn't gone so far" he admits in a traumatized tone as the camera shows a knocked-out Harold covered with a blanket covering him, courtesy of Chef.
The camera shows the Gophers in their 'unique' situation, "On the other hand, the Gophers, victims of bad luck, ended up in various ... unfavorable situations." The host couldn't help but laugh at the various situations, especially when an unseen scene from the previous episode is shown where Cody hits a raccoon with a frying pan, this ends up with the animal hitting Naruto in the face, and gets scratched by it. Meanwhile, two other raccoons somehow attack Heather like ninjas, one attempts a flying kick, but it is dodged by the queen bee, who uses a cutting board to shield herself from several pineapple slices thrown like shurikens.
"Speaking of bad luck, we finally discovered that the cause of the Gophers' misfortunes was the Tiki that Beth brought back from Boney Island, and boy, Heather was not happy to find that out." We can see the farmer girl distancing herself from a subdued Heather.
Beth is seen walking down the Dock of Shame with her head down and a disappointed look, "In the end, that's exactly what got Beth voted out." We return to Chris on the dock, "The Gophers are in a really bad losing streak, but now that the tiki is not with them, they might start winning, or they could be so bad that they can't continue. What will happen? Find out right here on TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!
(Opening, if you are curious, see the chapter "Not so Happy Campers - Part 1")
(Main Lodge)
"Today's breakfast is Hawaiian Italian Fusion Casserole," Chef proudly announces while handing the first tray to Gwen.
"You mean the leftovers from the last challenge?" The goth girl asks with a flat look, a bad idea as this earns her an unpleasant glare from Chef.
"EXACTLY, GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!" The chef roars, scaring the girl, who instinctively salutes as a soldier.
"Sir, no sir!" She responds as best she can before going to her table.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, other things are happening, "So, you guys haven't made any progress?" Katie asks Bridgette while they, along with Courtney, are in another corner of the establishment, waiting their turn in line.
"I wouldn't say that" the surfer girl replies, sighing, "I won't deny he's cute and has a good heart, but we decided to take things slowly after the canoe challenge" she admits before the three of them look at Geoff, who is next to Duncan, are both looking oddly at DJ taking care of Bunny as if it were a baby.
"And by that, you mean ignoring him whenever you can, right?" Courtney clarifies, giving her a flat look.
"I wouldn't say ignoring him, we're on good terms, and I talk to him" Bridgette emphasizes before giving the polite girl a disappointed look with crossed arms, "At least I'm not denying liking a guy unlike a certain person I know" she clarifies, making Courtney look away indignantly.
"I don't know what you're talking about" she defends herself against the incredulous gaze of her teammates/friends.
"I don't even know what to think of you anymore" Katie mentions, still unable to believe how far Courtney can go to deny she feels something for Duncan.
"That's my business" Courtney defends herself before turning her gaze to Katie, "At least I don't try to know every detail of your relationship with Cody" she reproaches, making the taller of the BFFF widen her eyes in surprise, and now she's the one looking away.
"True" Bridgette had to give Courtney that one before looking at Katie somewhat curious, "Are you two already a thing, or are you still testing the waters?" she couldn't help but ask, making Katie sigh.
"I don't know" she admits, causing confusion for Bridgette and Courtney, "It's something between us, but we're working on it" she clarifies, so her two teammates sigh disappointedly at not knowing more.
"For heaven's sake, just be straightforward and talk to them already" Eva instructs them bluntly, surprising and scaring her three teammates.
"E-Eva?" Katie squeaks, surprised to see her there.
"Since when are you here?" Courtney asks, dismayed and embarrassed that they were overheard.
"And how much have you ..." Bridgette was about to ask, but the athletic girl interrupted her.
"I've seen and heard enough, just talk to them already. It's tiring to see you three going in circles over the same thing" she clarifies, going to line up without giving room for objections.
(Confession)
"I didn't want to have anything to do with their love lives at first" Eva explains with her hand on her forehead.
"But it was tiring to see them talk about the same thing over and over without getting anywhere. It was like watching a cheap soap opera."
(Main Lodge)
"This is bad" Cody admits while observing the numerical disadvantage his team has.
"But Bertha already took the Tiki off the island," Lindsay clarifies, giving some encouragement to her team, "We can beat them now" she mentions optimistically, but it seems the others don't think the same.
"And be treated as the personal butler of the Dweeb?" Naruto asks rhetorically, then snorts, rolling his eyes, "No thank you" he clarifies, shattering the bombshell's hope of having a united team.
"It's not like working with you is a pleasant experience, Moron" Heather scoffs, taking a sip from her cup ... which she had to spit out due to the horrible taste of her supposed coffee, a pity for Naruto, who was in front of her.
"That's it!" The Japanese guy said, ready to tackle her, but he couldn't due to Cody and Gwen stopping him in time.
(Confession)
"Those two are like a bomb about to explode" Owen mentions, concerned.
"It's like trying to mix a turkey with a cake," the oaf was trying to give an analogy, but his attention shifted when he started laughing with a hungry look, "Mmmm... cake."
(Main Lodge)
"Whoa, whoa, calm down, campers!" Chris announces, having just arrived, so Heather and Naruto give each other a nasty look and sit down in a bad mood.
"Ugh, what do you want us to do now?" Gwen asks exasperatedly.
"Calm down, Gwen, I was getting to that," the host mentions, once he has everyone's attention, he continues, "First of all, I need you to put on these blindfolds and get on the vehicles I indicate" he says while taking out several blindfolds from who knows where as two horns sound outside the building.
"Are you going to kidnap us?" a worried DJ asks, and he's not the only one. Most of the campers are looking at the host suspiciously or scared.
"No, DJ, I won't do that" Chris gives DJ and the other campers a deadpan look, "But I need you not to see where we're going" the host clarifies.
(In the middle of the forest)
"All right, campers, take off the blindfolds," was heard through the speaker for them to do as instructed.
"Back in the forest again?" Eva asks while inspecting the place to try to orient herself, although without success as she doesn't recognize anything.
"And why are only half of both teams here?" Heather asks, and indeed, currently, only Eva, Bridgette, Geoff, DJ, Gwen, Owen, and herself are present.
"I'll explain this as simply as possible, so pay attention" as on cue, Chris speaks again to explain the challenge.
(In another part of the forest)
"All you have to do is find the way to the Dock of Shame, no matter the path you take" the host instructs both teams of 7 to hear.
"And as you can see, I decided to mix up the teams to make this more interesting" Chris laughs a bit as Harold looks at his temporary team, which includes Naruto, Lindsay, Cody, Courtney, Duncan, and Katie.
"So, this is a race to the dock" Courtney reaffirms after analyzing the situation a bit; it reminds her a bit of the mine challenge if she's honest.
"And I suppose the first team to arrive wins?" Harold wonders aloud, something most of his group can understand.
(In the middle of the forest)
"And as you'll remember" everyone puts their thoughts aside to listen to the instructions, "You have to watch out for the various animals you'll find in the area" the host continues, making some facepalm at the reminder.
"Oh, and I think there are still hidden traps that haven't been activated since the deer hunting challenge" Chris reminds them while laughing.
(Confession)
"I'm going to punch Naruto when I see him again" Eva makes a mental note with a twitch in her eye.
*Static*
"I don't know why, but I feel like I should run away and not look back" Naruto admits, feeling a deadly shiver down his spine.
(In another part of the forest)
"And to add the final touch to the challenge," Chris concludes, confusing the campers.
"There's more?" Katie asks, not knowing what other rules could be added to the challenge; it seemed complete enough from her perspective, but she put that aside to keep listening.
"As I'm getting a little bored with the same old routine, don't bother thinking about who to kick out if your team loses the challenge, because the last person to reach the dock will be the next one to be kicked off the island," the host announces as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "Good luck" and with that, he bids farewell, leaving the others to process what he just said.
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
"WHAT?!" was the scream that was heard throughout the forest when they finally processed what Chris said.
(Confession)
"Da fuck is wrong with you, dude?!" Duncan complains with arms extended in a combination of anger and surprise.
*Static*
"Do you have any idea how many plans you just ruined for me with that?" Heather also complains, annoyed and at the same time worried. Lindsay is the only loyal ally she has left, and if she's honest, it's quite likely that the bombshell would end up last. Plus, the candies can run out at any time now, so she's also about to lose Owen's help. This is bad, very bad.
*Static*
"I obviously do. Hello? I'm the host of the show. I have to make things more interesting at the expense of making your lives impossible," Chris responds as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
(In the middle of the forest)
"This challenge won't win itself; let's start walking, and if you can identify the place, let us know so we can locate ourselves" Heather instructs immediately to start walking a bit, but she didn't advance much due to Bridgette, who didn't move from her spot.
"Why should I listen to you?" she challenges with some distrust, which surprises her teammates, especially DJ, but Geoff and Eva had already seen that she has something against Heather from before.
'Fuck' Heather grumbles in her mind, turning around and seeing a annoyed Bridgette. She won't forget the fact that she wanted to leave her abandoned in the mine, so she has no choice but to ... ugh ... follow orders.
"Heather is right, Bridge; it's the best we can do for now," but Geoff interrupts the moment so they can move forward.
"Don't tell me you're on her side" the surfer girl gives him a not-so-pleasant look that made the party guy raise his hands in defense.
"Well, we don't have other options" he tries to reason with her, making the girl reflect a bit and sigh defeated.
"Fine, but keep an eye on her; she's dangerous" the girl decides to get closer to his ear to whisper her warning so Geoff stays alert.
"If you're done with your business, it's better to move forward; I don't want to end up last" Eva instructs them, about to start walking, but DJ has something more to offer.
"It's that way" the Jamaican points in a direction, confusing the others.
"You know this part of the forest?" Owen asks, but to his confusion, the Jamaican shakes his head.
"No, but Bunny knows where to go," he happily mentions while the animal nods in agreement.
(Confession)
"I can't believe I'm considering a rabbit's opinion" Gwen has an expressionless look when mentioning this.
(Mountain area of the forest)
"How are you doing guys?!" Lindsay shouts to Duncan and Naruto, who climbed to the highest point from where they were climbing to have a better visual aid in a mountain with a waterfall and a lake at the level where she and currently Courtney were.
"I don't think they can hear you, Lindsay" Courtney grabs her shoulders to get her attention.
"How do you think the other group is doing, Coraline?" the bombshell asks, seeing that her attempts to communicate with the others are not so effective.
"They have Eva with them; I don't think anything will happen to them" the polite girl replies before correcting her again, "And I'm Courtney."
"Hey, girls, how's everything going?" Harold asks, just returning with some berries he found in his shirt, which he uses as a kangaroo pouch.
"Still no news from those two rock heads," Courtney answers, "How much did you manage to find?" she asks so the nerd shows his collection.
"It won't be a complete meal, but we'll have something to eat for now" he assures, making the other two girls smile. Still, Lindsay blinks as she remembers something.
"Hey, Hector, where are Karen and Connor?" the bombshell asks somewhat worried, but the nerd doesn't seem very concerned.
"I'll just say I didn't want to get involved in their stuff" he casually comments to the curious blinking of both girls, who then turned into smiles when they knew that something could be going on between them.
(With Katie and Cody a bit lower)
"Sooo … how's everything going on in your team?" Katie couldn't help but ask as she and Cody continued picking up berries while giving each other their backs.
"The mood is still tense" Cody sighs resignedly, thinking about his team's situation. It's always one problem after another. But as he shakes his head before turning to look at her, he asks "So, are you in?"
"Things are going to get more complicated from now on, right?" she asks herself resignedly before giving her answer, "I'm in the alliance." With that, Cody's mood instantly improves.
"Awesome, trust me, Kat, you won't regret it" the geek says enthusiastically as he approaches her.
"Don't you have to let Gwen and Naruto know about this?" Katie asks, a bit amused, but Cody dismisses it.
"Nah, I think they'll be glad to have another ally" he reassures her, much to the relief of the girl.
"Great" Katie cheers.
"Yeah, great" Cody confirms, and the two find themselves looking into each other's eyes for a moment before starting to lean towards each other. However, they couldn't go any further when a loud splash was heard, snapping them out of their trance, and they moved away with a slight blush.
"Um ... I guess we're taking too long" Katie tries to steer the conversation to something else.
"Y-yeah, good point," Cody stammers a bit, and the two awkwardly gather the berries they have so far and walk away in uncomfortable silence.
(Confession)
"What was I thinking?!" Katie scolds herself while her hands cover her face.
*Static*
"Idiot" Cody just facepalms.
(Moments before)
Duncan was whistling in amazement at the view that he and Naruto currently had at a high point next to a waterfall. "Man, who would've thought this island has such a good view?" he admits, impressed by what he sees.
"Did you become a fan of nature?" Naruto teasingly asks.
"Let's not go that far, Whiskers" Duncan scoffs as they try to orient themselves.
"The camp is in that direction" the Japanese guy indicates so Duncan sees they have to go northeast.
"We can follow the river; it seems to lead us there" Naruto continues so Duncan thinks for a moment, and it's not a bad idea.
"Fine, but how do we get down fast? I don't want to be too far behind the other group" Duncan asks, only for the two guys to look down, or rather, at the river at the bottom of the waterfall.
"Well, I guess we have to jump like in the first ch- AAAAHH, YOU BASTARD!" Naruto was calmly mentioning this before Duncan pushed him.
"Let me know how safe is the f- AAAAHH, SON OF A BIIITCH"! but the Japanese guy reacted quickly and grabbed the punk by the arm to take him with him. It wasn't until a few seconds later that a loud splash was heard in the area, followed by the surprised and annoyed screams of two girls who didn't find it very amusing to be soaked.
(Forest)
"Dude, where are we?" Geoff asks confused as his group walked through a part of the forest they haven't seen before.
"I told you it wasn't a good idea to follow that rabbit" Heather scolds them, but a look from Eva stops her in her tracks.
"Now where, Bunny?" DJ asks his pet, and the rabbit, upon recognizing the place, separates from its owner and goes to a tree. However, not before making the sign to wait for a few minutes.
"All right, this is getting weird" Bridgette mumbles, watching that.
"What do you guys think is happening inside?" Owen asks, and everyone shrugs.
"If I'm honest, I'd say DJ brought it home" Gwen replies, making Heather facepalm.
"So, we just wasted our time" the queen bee muttered disappointed. She was about to move on to see another part of the forest until they saw Bunny coming out of the place with a squirrel. The squirrel gave each of them a look and then turned to make its characteristic sound to Bunny, which confirmed it by nodding its head. After that, the squirrel pulled out a Nordic horn seemingly out of nowhere, confusing the campers.
"What's going to ...?" but before Owen could finish his question, the squirrel blew the horn, which sounded incredibly loud. So much so that they had to cover their ears.
"What the hell?" Gwen complained until they started to hear engine sounds approaching. It wasn't until a few seconds later that a band of three bears came riding ATVs, surrounding the campers, and before they knew it, various forest animals gathered to watch from a distance on the ground, such as deer and foxes, or they watched the show from the trees, like birds, other squirrels, or rabbits that arrived.
To top it off, the squirrel that had blown the horn now dressed like a Roman emperor on a high branch, but low enough for everyone to see it, raised a paw to silence the noise made by the animals and explained what was happening with its typical animal language. Once that was done, the bears got off the ATVs so raccoons could get on them and place them on a small elevation they use as a podium.
"Uh ... Bunny?" DJ nervously asks his pet, who has just returned to them, and it points at the bears. Then it makes kung fu movements and points at the ATVs while hopping as if celebrating.
"I think it's telling us to fight the bears" Bridgette mentions with wide-open eyes, seeing Bunny nod at what the surfer said.
"Do we get the ATVs if we win?" Heather asks, and Bunny nods again to the delight of the queen bee, something Gwen noticed.
"Oh no, we're not fighting bears for some ATVs" Gwen refuses, turning around to leave. However, a squad of raccoons blocked her way.
"I don't think we have a choice in this" Bridgette turns to see that a bear is already wearing boxing gloves, another has a sumo hairstyle, and the last one has a purple and red wrestling mask.
"Are these 1-on-1 fights?" a resigned Eva asks Bunny, who nods. "Fine, let two more enter. I want to finish this as quickly as possible" the athletic girl instructs them, and everyone looks worried.
"I'll go first" Geoff announces, much to everyone's surprise, and someone points it out.
"Are you crazy?!" Bridgette almost shouts in his ear, making the guy move to avoid going deaf. "This isn't a game, Geoff" the surfer gives him a look that asks him not to even think about it, but the guy just gives her a relaxed look.
"Relax, Bridge; everything will be fine. Besides, if I end up beaten, Eva will help me get to the dock, right, friend?" the partier asks the athletic girl, who gives him a flat look.
"Just don't take much of a beating" she warns him, so the guy gives her a thumbs up and goes to the circular ring with the bear wearing boxing gloves. Once they reach the ring, the squirrel orders to hit a gong, and before Geoff realizes it, he receives a nasty uppercut that knocked him out instantly, to the surprised look of his group, except for Eva and Bridgette, being that the former facepalmed the latter went immediately to help him.
(Confession)
The camera shows the bear that knocked out Geoff practicing air punches in a rhythmic manner, sporting a national boxing champion belt around its waist.
(In the river current)
"Paddle faster!" Courtney orders, still annoyed, to Naruto and Duncan, who have handprints on their cheeks as they paddle with improvised oars on two rafts they created to navigate downstream. Naruto, Katie, Cody, and Harold are on one raft, while Duncan, Courtney, and Lindsay are on the other.
"We really pissed off your girlfriend, dude" Naruto comments to the punk.
"He's/She's not my boyfriend/girlfriend" they both respond simultaneously, turning to look and then quickly turning away, annoyed.
"And I'm going to ask the Dweeb to marry me" Naruto sarcastically replies, rolling his eyes. "Just make out already; the tension is noticeable continents away."
"As if I would want to kiss this jerk" Courtney huffs. Katie was about to say something, but a stern look from the polite girl silenced her.
"Wow, tell us how you really feel, Princess" Duncan gives her a deadpan look while continuing to paddle.
"But you two would make a cute couple" Lindsay replies to Courtney.
"This isn't a fairytale Lindsay" the polite girl replies back.
"But it's quite obvious that you like him" Cody continues getting an indignant look from Courtney.
"Uh, guys" Harold began to notice something, but everyone ignored him.
"Besides, Duncan acts much nicer when he's with you," Katie points out while making another point.
"Hey, are you calling me soft?" the punk protests.
"That's what you focus on? On your image of a bad guy?" Courtney scolds him with a really annoyed look with a bitter tone in her voice that she tried to control, that seemed to touch a nerve in her.
"Even I know you feel something for me Princess" Duncan admits to the girl's incredulous look.
"And you don't feel anything for her?" Cody throws the killer question that leaves the guy with wide-open eyes, and everyone is looking at him. Courtney was the most interested in the answer, although she tried to disguise it.
"Guys!" Harold startles everyone by shouting.
"What?!" Courtney yells back angrily that they ruined the opportunity to hear Duncan's answer.
But ignoring her annoyed shout, the nerd pointed ahead. "Look! Rapids!" he points, and suddenly the group found themselves on a somewhat 'turbulent' journey.
"Everyone hold on!" Naruto indicates, while everyone screams shocked as they go right and left constantly, this constant movement caused the two rafts to collide, separating the two groups into different paths.
Focusing on Duncan, Courtney, and Lindsay, these three were on their way, slowly approaching the forest again. It wasn't until a few minutes later that they reached another waterfall, from which they fell. Just before that, due to the height, they could see the cabin area further ahead.
(In the animal coliseum)
"Can someone remind me why I'm doing this?" Owen nervously asks as he watches the sumo bear taking its sumo combat stance in the ring that now had the shape of a sumo wrestling arena.
"Because we can win some ATVs that would make our journey easier," Heather replies, trying to push him, emphasis on trying, as all the queen bee did was tire herself out.
"Come on, Owen, you're the most suited for this," Gwen tells him as she points to the ring with both arms.
"But ..." he tries to complain, but Eva grabs his shirt.
"Listen, buddy, win this match, and I'll give you my part of the candies for the rest of the week" the athletic girl encourages him, and it worked because the big guy got a determined look, and before anyone realized it, he was in the ring without his shirt in front of the sumo bear, striking the sumo combat pose.
"Bring it on, buddy! Let's rumble!" the big guy challenges, then roars with a war cry as a guitar solo plays in the background to add more epicness to his moment of bravery.
"Do you think he's going to be okay?" Bridgette asks DJ, who was treating Geoff.
"Are you talking about Geoff or Owen?" the Jamaican asks.
"Both" the surfer replies, and they both look at the ring once the gong sounded again.
And with the sound, the two opponents went against each other to push each other with their hands and paws, respectively. They were quite evenly matched, much to the surprise of the bear, who had to push the big guy from the sides to take him further out of the ring.
"Firm feet, Owen, don't let him take you out of the ring, and be careful with the hands; in this sport, grips are not allowed!" Eva takes on the role of a coach so that the guy doesn't end up losing so quickly.
"Go, Owen!" Gwen supports her teammate, although if she were honest, she never thought she would have a front-row seat to watch a sumo match in this way.
Heather, on the other hand, didn't say anything, but if you look closely, she had a slightly fearful look watching the sumo match.
Meanwhile, Owen took Eva's words into account and could hold his own a bit better, but he was still losing quickly as he was getting closer to the ring's edge.
"Maneuver, Owen; you're being predictable!" Eva was indicating the best she could while watching more closely. It seemed like the girl had thrown herself into the current situation.
"Come on, dude!" DJ cheers his temporary teammate while Bunny is on another branch making a betting house with other animals.
"Look out!" Bridgette warns, but it's too late. She could only grimace when the bear gave Owen another push that took him to the edge of the arena. One more push, and he loses for being out of the ring.
"Act fast, Owen!" Eva instructs him as she sees how the bear claps again, but Owen dodges it in time. But by doing that, the guy comes up with an idea of what to do to win.
Once the bear positions itself again, it claps again, and the oaf dodges it once more and gives him a push with all he has, making him take a few steps to the side. But before the bear prepares again, the gong sounds again, giving the victory to Owen and equalizing the score. The campers celebrate, while Bunny receives several carrots from an animal betting house not far away.
The bear, upon realizing what happened, just lowered its gaze to see that one of its paws is outside the ring, symbolizing its defeat. It could do nothing but accept its defeat and bow to Owen as a sign of respect and go to his side.
"WOOO-HOOO, YEAH, I DID IT!" Owen celebrates with his arms in the air as he goes to his group to give a hug to the nearest ones, which are Eva and Gwen, who, although they understand the guy's joy, they don't like the idea of him hugging them without a shirt and all sweaty.
But then the song 'Eye of the Tiger' starts playing, and everyone sees the third bear posing on one of the recently placed wrestling ring posts. Then it jumps and makes the gesture of 'come to me' with an arrogant smile.
"I must admit, the bear has style" DJ is amazed at the show with Owen agreeing.
"Out of the way, people" Eva gets on Owen's back to take a leap into the ring, landing in the same way as Iron Man and standing up to adopt a kickboxing style with a defiant smile, returned by the bear seeing a challenge.
The gong didn't take long to sound, and the two went to clash with each other, trying to knock each other out immediately.
(On a beach on the island)
"Where are we?" Harold wondered as he looked around.
"Better positioned," Naruto immediately responds cheerfully.
"What?" Katie asked, seeing the joy in the Japanese guy.
"We're on a beach. We just have to go around the island to reach the dock, and look, there's the cliff," the guy points to the indicated place so they can see that, despite not being close, it's a reference point for orientation.
"Do you realize it will take who knows how long to go around the island?" Cody raises an eyebrow.
"And that we might take the longest route," Harold adds his input, making Naruto think for a moment. He looks around and sees the sharks from the first challenge swimming at a considerable distance from them, but not close enough to be a danger.
"I think I have an idea. Let's retrieve the raft and gather some thick branches and vines," the other three couldn't help but gulp as they see Naruto's smile.
(Forest near the Main Lodge)
"How many people do you think are already at the dock?" Lindsay asks her two companions as they head to the Dock of Shame at full speed.
"I don't know. I don't want to think about it" Courtney replies as they continue on their way.
"Leave the conversation for later. Let's just get to the dock," Duncan instructs them, but an explosion sound makes them turn to see a section of the forest exploding, and indeed, they didn't stop as more explosions were heard afterward.
"I won't even bother. Just keep going" right after what Courtney said, the three continued their way.
(Moments before)
"Dude, what just happened?" was the first thing Geoff mentions upon regaining consciousness, but he's surprised to hear everyone in the animal coliseum cheering for the spectacle given by Eva and the bear. The bear throws the girl off balance with an elbow to the stomach, so she leans forward, taking advantage of it to climb the pole and jump onto her back. Surprisingly, the athlete withstands the weight and jumps backward so that both fall on the bear's back. Taking the opportunity to catch her breath, the girl acts quickly to try a hold.
Seeing the situation, the party guy got up and approached Bridgette and DJ, who were nearby.
"Hey, guys, what's going on?" the guy asks, surprising the two when they see him awake.
"Hey, dude, are you okay?" the Jamaican asks a bit worried.
"Relax, man, it was just a scratch" Geoff tries to calm things down, but he received a slap from Bridgette that surprised both of them, even DJ made a face seeing the act. That had to hurt.
"I just hope you've learned the lesson of not being so irresponsible" the surfer girl said bluntly.
"Come on, Bridge, it was just a friendly match. There was no real danger" the party guy tries to defend himself, but the girl just crosses her arms and turns her back.
"... " Now, the girl gives him the silent treatment.
It wasn't until DJ approached and muttered something that he understood what concerned his friend, and he couldn't help but grimace. He has to think better about things.
"Sorry for worrying you, Bridge. I promise to think things through more calmly," Geoff genuinely apologizes, which worked since the girl turns to look at him.
"You promise?" the girl asks to confirm, and before Geoff could answer, he thought a bit more and saw that it would be challenging for him to do so.
"I promise to do my best" he admits to the girl's smile. At least he was conscious enough to know that it would be a work in progress.
(Confession)
"Geoff is a good person, friendly, fun, I won't deny it, but there are times when his enthusiasm and curiosity lead him to do quite dangerous things" Bridgette tells the audience.
*Static*
"Am I going to have to help him all the time, right?" DJ wonders how to help his party guy friend.
(Animal Coliseum)
Back to the fight, it seems that Eva finally managed to apply a hold to the bear, and after a few heavy seconds, the animal finally fell defeated, giving the campers a victory with a score of 2 to 1.
And as a sign of victory, the emperor squirrel gave the instruction for the raccoons to give them the three ATVs.
"All right, people, we can't waste more time" Eva instructs as she gets on as the driver with Gwen behind her. In another one, DJ takes the wheel with Owen and Heather, who had to climb on his shoulders due to the limited space. Bridgette takes the driver's seat with Geoff behind her.
"All right, Bunny, what's the shortest way to the camp?" Heather asks the rabbit, who is on DJ's head. The animal just points in a specific direction. With that, DJ starts the engines to go to that place, with the other two following them as quickly and safely as possible.
"How much do you think is left to arrive?" Gwen asks as everyone follows the path.
Upon that, Eva replies, "I just hope it's not a lot. The fights took time, but at least we have a safe path," she responds, worrying Gwen. Did that count as Murphy's Law?
Her concerns were answered shortly after reaching a specific area.
"Hey, isn't this the field where we had the deer challenge?" DJ asks, creating tension in the group.
"Oh, man" Geoff murmurs worriedly, knowing what that means. This is confirmed when, just as they move forward, the ground explodes with an underground sticky honey bomb that Bridgette barely managed to regain balance. "Everyone, hurry!" Heather instructs them to speed up, which works a bit as they manage to escape several underground mine explosions. Still, by breaking a vine, they somehow caused several water and honey balloons the size of basketballs to be shot directly at them, and to top it off, three beehives were thrown near them for furious bees to go after them.
"OH NO, NOT AGAIN!" Owen doesn't want to go through bee stings again, a sentiment shared by Gwen and Heather.
"At full speed, DJ!" a scared goth orders, so everyone escapes their curious situation.
(Confession)
"Forget the punches; I'm going to have to beat Naruto senseless" Eva clarifies, covered in honey and bee stings in various parts of her body.
(Beach)
The sharks were swimming peacefully until the smell of grilled fish caught their attention. When they focused a bit, they saw Naruto with two vines, each holding groups of six fishes.
"Hey, guys, hungry?" the guy asks calmly but internally smiles as the sharks start drooling a bit. "Well, come and get them" he challenges, running along the shore. The sharks notice and follow him eagerly to devour the fish.
"Everyone, get ready," Harold instructs as Katie and Cody prepare thick vine ropes. Shortly after, Naruto approaches with the fishes held high. This encourages the sharks to jump as indicated. However, what they didn't notice is that Naruto arrived just in time to the raft, and the sharks not only couldn't get the fish but were also entangled by the ropes.
"All right, guys, let's go to the dock," Naruto announces as he quickly swaps places with Katie to attach the fishes to some rods he placed in front of the sharks. They try to eat them, but the distance prevents it.
"Don't let the ropes go!" Cody warns while Naruto, Harold, and himself hold the ropes as tightly as possible, and Katie takes the rods as a rudder.
"Naruto, you're crazy!" Katie admits for what they just did. She never thought she'd be involved in something like this in her life.
"Hey, that's offensive. For desperate situations, you need desperate measures" the guy defends himself as they head to the dock on a shark-powered raft at full speed.
(Dock of Shame)
"And how much longer do you think they'll take?" a Chris asks Chef while playing cards at a wooden table with two chairs on the dock. They are between the Boat of Losers and the Wawanakwa Camp sign.
"Can't you use a TV to see where they are?" the chef asks as he grabs a snack.
"No, the mine challenge took a lot of the budget. I can't even get a refund for the next reward challenge, and I don't want to spend the money on my comforts" the disappointed host clarifies but then remembers something.
"Hey, dude, could you cover for me in the next episode? I'll be busy with some meetings in the next few days" Chris asks for a favor, which slightly surprises the Chef, but he still puts on a serious face.
"And what's in it for me?" he asks, only for Chris to shrug, completely unconcerned.
"A raise, and you can take out some frustration on the campers for complaining about your food" he answers without any problem, making Chef have a cruel smile. He's going to enjoy the next episode a lot.
"We have a deal, pretty boy" the chef extends his hand for the host to shake it just before hearing a shout.
"The dock!" a relieved and tired Lindsay shouts, and it wasn't until a few minutes later that the three arrived completely exhausted.
"Well done, campers, you're the first to arrive" the host informs them, making them very happy.
(Confession)
Lindsay was squealing cheerfully "I can't believe I'm the first on my team to arrive. Heather will be so proud!" The girl was undoubtedly euphoric.
(Dock of Shame)
"Seriously, no one else has arrived?" Courtney asks incredulously. It's not that she doesn't like the idea of arriving first, but she thought others would have arrived by now.
"No, I was getting bored" the host admits as Lindsay notices something that caught her attention in the distance.
"Hey, what's that?" she asks for everyone to see a point in the sea.
"My binos" Chris asks the Chef to hand him some. With them, the host sees what's going on. "Let's see. Whoa, that's awesome, dude!" Chris is impressed by what he's seeing.
"What?" Duncan questions, but Chris hands him his binoculars to see for himself, and when he does, he can't help but whistle impressed as Naruto, Katie, Harold, and Cody are heading towards them with the sharks.
"What are you guys looking at?" Courtney asks confused, but the sound of an engine made those on the dock turn to see the other group of campers coming out of the forest. Despite being covered in honey and some bee stings, they're approaching at full speed.
"Oh, it looks like we're going to have a photo finish. Open your eyes, people" Chris warns them to see who will reach the end.
(In the field)
"We're going to make it!" Owen celebrates, but Heather has something else to say.
"The other group is coming. DJ, you better go even faster, NOW!" Heather orders for the Jamaican's concern. The situation might get out of control if they don't measure the speed correctly.
"But..." DJ was about to protest, but the queen bee won't have any of it.
"NOW!" she orders sharply, and they follow suit.
(Confession)
"I'm not going to be the last one to arrive" Heather declares. "And even if we lose someone else from our team, that'll give me more opportunity to take control of what little is left." She plans what she's going to do.
(Sea)
"The other group is coming," Harold warns to concern from his group.
"Oh no, I didn't risk becoming shark food to go home," Naruto doesn't give up just for them to be landing now. The sharks, in an impulse, managed to get the fishes and stopped completely, causing the raft to break, and the four campers were sent flying straight to the Dock of Shame.
(Dock of Shame)
"I think we'll have to review the cameras" Chris thinks aloud just as the camera freezes for a moment, showing Eva's group about to step on the dock. From another angle, Naruto's group is about to land on the dock, and lastly, the expectant look of those who were already waiting. Now the camera switches to the beach, and then there are sounds of crashing against wood and splashes in the water.
"All right, the challenge is over" Chris announces, but a question is lingering in the group.
"Wait a moment, who arrived last" Gwen asks, just coming out of the water as they couldn't stop the ATVs in time.
"I don't know, but thanks to that, I have to spend a little more money than I had planned," Chris complains with a annoyed face as some assistants bring him two TVs with several extensions and a tablet with the recorded footage of these last moments.
On one side, it can be seen that DJ, Owen, Heather, Eva, and Gwen arrived without any problems. This reassures those who arrived first, but Bridgette, Cody, Geoff, Harold, Naruto, Katie are a different case.
"All right, with you six, it's better to use some slow motion" Chris instructs to see what happens. After applying slow motion to both screens, it can be seen that Harold is the next to arrive, crashing face-first into the dock, much to the nerd's relief. Still, he gave the others a stern look as they heard some coughing to disguise laughter at how he arrived.
Following the footage, Naruto is the next to touch the dock, landing on his butt. On the other screen, it can be seen that shortly after, Bridgette crosses in time, along with Geoff, who stretches his arm so that it also counts as safe, leaving Cody and Katie to gasp worried and somewhat sad seeing that one of them has to go.
"Dude, that's harsh" Geoff murmurs under his breath while Bridgette looks at the two with some pity.
"All right, and the next person going home is..." Chris announces for the video to continue frame by frame until an arm touches the dock first. The challenge is over.
(Dock of Shame - Sunset)
"How do you think those two are doing?" Gwen asks Naruto as they watch Katie and Cody sitting on the dock in the distance, both of them have decided to give them some space while watching the sunset in the distance.
"No idea, I was involved in other things, and honestly, I didn't want to bother him with that" the guy replies, prompting a resigned sigh from his goth friend. Naruto was obviously referring to his constant fights with Heather.
"You know, you could just ignore her; it's always worked for me" Gwen advises.
"It's going to be hard" he tries to excuse himself, but the girl gives him a light smack.
"So, should I scold you both constantly, or what? You know we're at a disadvantage against the other team" Gwen scolds him slightly to the embarrassment of the guy.
"Okay, you win" Naruto accepts defeat with Gwen's victorious smile. Wanting to change the subject, the guy wants to know something. "Hey, is it true that you fought in a coliseum in the forest?" The guy asks curiously, only for Gwen to have a look that's hard to decipher.
"I'll just say that my life has become very strange since I came to this island" the girl admits. "How did you find out?" She asks with a slightly amused look.
"Owen" was the only thing he said, but the tranquility of those two was interrupted when a vine tied him up and was then pulled to the ground.
"But what?" the Japanese wonders as a voice sends shivers down his spine.
"Hey, Naruto, I came up with a new training method, and I hope you don't mind that I invited some new friends to the club" Eva comes out surprisingly with the bears from the coliseum.
"Eva, hi, what kind of training are we talking about?" the japanese guy begins to sweat bullets; he's not stupid, he saw the state the other group arrived in. They undoubtedly were victims of his pranks.
"I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise" she mentions with a smile that made him pale, and she turns to Gwen.
"Save me Gwen, don't leave me with her!" Naruto tries to save himself, but his friend has other plans.
"You know the unwritten rule, don't mess with Eva" she tells her friend, who was restricted by the bears and then turns to the athletic girl. "No offense" the goth girl tries to defend herself.
"None taken" Eva accepts that she has anger issues, but she has made good progress. Without further ado, she takes the japanese guy, who right now is begging for his life.
(With Cody and Katie)
"You know, this doesn't have to be the last time we see each other" the Geek speaks to his friend, who looks undeniably sad.
"I know, but it's still not nice to be separated like this," Katie clarifies beside him.
"I guess we just didn't want this moment to happen" Cody murmured as they both covered their ears when the Chef honked the horn of the Boat of Losers.
"All right, maggot, it's time to go, grab your luggage and get on before I make you swim home" the chef orders the Geek.
"Oh, come on, dude, have you no tact?" the geek complains, but a growl was all it took for Cody to load his luggage and get on the boat.
"I guess this is a goo... no, this is a see you later" Katie says with a slight smile.
"I'll cheer you from home, Kat. Good luck" Cody says, but he remembers something quickly. "Hey, I know it's a bit rushed, but ... maybe ... after the show... would you like to go somewhere with me? Not exactly a picnic, but..." the guy tried to explain, but a kiss on the cheek stopped him in his tracks.
"I'd love to" she responds slightly blushing.
"Cool" the guy murmurs in a trance, but she heard him.
"Cool" she agrees in a sweet voice, but then the Chef revs up the engine at full power, and the Cody had to hold on to keep from falling off the boat. He wasn't going to risk being forced to swim home.
"I guess I have to take a more offensive approach if I want to win" Katie speaks to herself before turning to see Gwen in the distance "And I think I know where to start." She clarifies to go talk to her about the alliance, all this under the watchful eye of Chris, who sees everything from the campfire area.
"Wow, surprises just keep coming, that's for sure" the host chuckles to himself as he watches what just happened. He then turns to the camera "Several things are about to happen, folks. The campers are realizing that we're entering a new stage of the competition, and they're taking sides. What will happen next? Will Heather regain the numbers advantage? Will Geoff learn not to screw up his chances with Bridgette? Find out next time on TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!"
End of the chapter.
Campers:
Screaming Gophers: Gwen, Heather, Lindsay, Naruto, Owen.
Killer Bass: Bridgette, Courtney, DJ, Duncan, Eva, Geoff, Harold, Katie.
Eliminated: Justin, Noah, Sadie, Trent, Tyler, Izzy, Leshawna, Beth, Cody.
Another chapter is done and well, the campers are considering their options in who to trust, what might happen, only future me will be answering that as the story continues. I also want to say thanks for everyone that is leaving reviews and sending me PM with suggertions, opinions, and some critisism (with respect, of course) about how to continue the story, thanks guys, bit by bit this story is growing and I can't help but be amazed about the attention it is getting. I still remember that I wrote this because of the reboot of the series, that was the final push that made me start this story.
Also, I think this might be tiresome to some because everyone has been talking about it in these few days, but I still can't believe that Akira Toriyama just left us, that guy created my childhood and I don't even know how to express myself in this matter, the few things that I can say are that he will always be part of my happiest moments of my childhood I hope he is happy and at peace wherever he is. Enjoy your time in this world people, experience, play, meet people, spend some time with your families, work, study, and do much more so you could leave with no regrets.
And well, that's it for now from the not so much of a reader now.
I will be reading the reviews, accepting constructive criticism and interesting ideas.
Until next time.
