The next day Sakura wrote a note to Mayu telling her that she would be out for most of the day. She stuck the note to the fridge and put on her blue ninja sandals before leaving the house.
When she arrived at her clearing she started her day of training by meditating for thirty minutes. Whilst meditating she entered her mindscape to chat with Inner.
"Hey Outer! Cha!" Inner greeted.
"Hey Inner, we're going to start trying to do medical ninjutsu today."
"Cha! We're going to be the best at medical ninjutsu!" Sakura sighed, she just hoped Inner wouldn't interrupt her whilst she was focused.
After meditating she stood up and stretched. Then she jogged around the clearing five times before sitting back down, crossed legged in the middle of the clearing.
'So.. any idea how we should summon healing chakra?'
'….Try starting by summoning normal chakra into your hands and then try switching over to healing chakra?'
'How do I switch normal chakra into healing chakra?'
'Well I don't know! The books in the library didn't explain any of this! Cha!'
'Why not? Books are supposed to hold the answer to everything!'
'Well the books that do contain information about how to summon healing chakra are all in the chunin section of the library which is off limits to anyone below chunin ranking!' It was safe to say that Sakura and Inner were having quite the heated conversation. 'The only other way to gain information about that kind of stuff is to find a sensei! Cha!' Sakura sighed in irritation.
After a while they decided on doing what Inner had first suggested: Pulling chakra into her hands and somehow changing the normal chakra into healing chakra.
The petal haired girl took a deep breath and closed her eyes before focusing on her chakra. She pulled the energy into her hands and opened her eyes to see her hands surrounded by gorgeous, blue, glowing, light.
'Ok, so we have the regular chakra summoned, now what?' Sakura asked.
'Now, you focus on summoning healing chakra.'
'And how do I do that?'
'Err.. maybe focus on your chakra being able to heal and help rather then destroy and hurt people? Cha.' Sakura sighed.
'You don't sound very confident that that will work.'
'Just try it! Cha!'
Sakura zoned back in on the feeling of her chakra, she tried to alter the way it felt and flowed. Turning a quickly running stream into a calm, flowing one, all the while taking deep breaths. When she looked down at her hands she had to stop herself from gasping in surprise.
'How the heck did your stupid idea work?' She wondered, flabbergasted.
'Cha! I am so smart, of course my idea worked!' Inner was having a mini celebration in Sakura's mind. Sakura pouted as she listened to her Inner ramble on about how awesome she was.
The petal haired girl focused on the green light emitting from her hands. The light shimmered and sparkled which created a stunning effect. The pink haired girl was brought out of her daze when a wave of exhaustion washed over her. The medical chakra gathered in her hands wavered out as the girl started panting.
'Dang it! I've run out of chakra again!' She thought frustrated.
'Cha! This is so annoying! We really need to increase our chakra reserves!'
'I agree wholeheartedly.'
'We should probably do more physical exercises as well as meditation, cha.'
They both agreed on getting lunch before continuing training. Sakura headed out of the forest and quickly ran home and grabbed some of the money her parents had left for her. She then rushed out of the house to a dango stand.
'Not the healthiest lunch but dango is delicious.'
'Dango isn't even a meal! Cha!'
'But it is delicious.'
'Yeah, it is.' Inner agreed.
Sakura ordered four sticks of dango and waited patiently until she received her food.
Once she had received her food she went and sat down on a nearby bench. She started eating the delicious treat as she observed her surroundings. The pink haired four year old watched as people went about their day, mothers walking along with their children; people trying to lure customers over to their stalls; Children running around, dodging in and out of the crowd.
Once she had finished her food Sakura threw away the dango sticks as well as the paper plater she had received the dango on and made her way back to her clearing.
Whilst she was waiting for her food to go down Sakura meditated for half an hour. Whilst she was meditating she was, of course, talking to Inner.
'So, you think we should work on what?'
'We need to work on our weaponry, cha!'
'Nani?'
'Are you death or something? I said that we need to practise our weaponry! Cha!'
'Of course I'm not death! I was just trying to comprehend how I managed to overlook that basic necessity!'
'Well I guess your mind was just caught up with the big things like medical ninjutsu and chakra control that you forgot about the small things.'
'You do realise that my mind is basically your mind right?'
'….. I have no response to that, cha..'
Sakura came out of her meditation and stood up. She stretched before running laps around the clearing, much like she had done that morning.
'So are we going to buy some weapons today or?'
'I'm not really sure, I mean, mama and papa left us a bit of money in case we needed anything but would someone really sell a four year old weapons?'
'I'm pretty sure it should be ok. If we get any funny looks then we can just evacuate the shop. Cha!' Sakura wasn't sure if Inner was joking or not but agreed to buying some weapons later that day.
She finished running around the clearing and decided to practise summoning her healing chakra. She sat down and guided her chakra into her hands. The pink haired girl took a moment to admire the gorgeous emerald glow before she slowly let her chakra flicker out.
'Cha! Now lets try and break a bone!'
'I-inner what the heck! Why would you even suggest for us to do that?' She sputtered.
'So we can heal it, duh!' Sakura wanted to face palm.
'Ok, one: just because we can summon healing chakra doesn't mean we can miraculously heal a broken bone. Two: even if we could we don't have anywhere near enough chakra. Three: Why would we even break one of our bones, that's just stupid.'
'Well how do you suggest we test out our awesome healing abilities then? Cha!'
'I suggest we work on increasing our chakra reserves and then we can cut open a fish and heal it or something.'
'That, is very smart..'
'Mhm, I know right I'm a genius'
'So we work on increasing our chakra reserves?'
'Yup.'
The petal haired girl stood up and walked over to a tree. She pulled chakra into her feet and walked steadily up the tree. She sat down on a branch and looked up at the sky, watching as the clouds passed by.
After about an hour the four year old walked down the tree and headed out of her clearing.
'It's time to get some weapons! Cha!' Inner cheered.
'Let's just hope that the store is open.'
'It better be, cha!'
Sakura made her way towards the weapons shop, moving through the crowd. She opened the door to the shop and walked in, marvelling at all the weapons on display. Inner pointed out each of the weapons and explained what they were and what they were most commonly used for.
'And-!' Inner was interrupted by a jolly voice asking what Sakura wanted to buy.
"Oh, err.. may I have some practise kunai and shuriken?" The petal haired girl asked with a sweet smile.
"Of course! Are ya planning on going to the academy?" The man asked, he had grey hair and a grey beard, he had a round figure and a grandfatherly smile along with rosy cheeks.
"Um….." Sakura hesitated. She would like to go to the academy but her parents might not let her.
'Cha! Just say that we are!'
"Yes sir," She said.
"Alright, I'll get ya your weapons." The man said as he walked over to a shelf that held multiple weapons. "How many kunai and shuriken would ya like?"
Sakura thought for a minute before replying with, "Six kunai and eight shuriken please."
"Right away!" The man said as he got the amount of blunt kunai and shuriken the child had ordered down from the shelf. He then put the weapons into a black pouch, "Here ya go!" He carefully handed it to the girl who looked up at him.
"How much would you like for the weapons and pouch?"
"Fifty ryo for the weapons and you can have the pouch for free." He said kindly. Sakura's eyes widened and she immediately protested.
"I can pay for the pouch as well!"
"Nah, kid ya keep it. Consider it a gift." The petal haired girl smiled before handing him the money. She bowed to him before leaving the shop.
When she exited the shop she noticed that it was getting dark. She hurried off towards her home, her mother had always said that it was never good to be out late at night. She ran down the street as fast as her legs could take her. The moonlight guiding her on her way home.
