It had been a week since Sakura had gone over to the Uchiha's for dinner and she had been working hard on her medical ninjutsu since. She finally felt confident enough to try and heal a small cut, the only problem was that the pinkette didn't want to injure an animal so that she could try and heal them. There were too many things that could go wrong! What if she couldn't do it? What if she made the wound worse or she accidently killed the animal? What if she was overestimating her abilities and couldn't keep up a steady stream of healing chakra? What if-
'Calm down Outer, cha!' Inner exclaimed. 'We'll never know if we don't try!'
'I know but...' Sakura sighed. 'This sounds silly but I don't want to inflict any pain on anyone else..'
'That's normal, Cha, but all shinobi have to fight and eliminate for their village.'
'Th-'
'Shh, just hear me out. Imagine you're in a team of three. You, a boy and another girl, the other girl is being held hostage somewhere and your male teammate is unconscious in the hospital.'
'I don't see how this ha-'
'Just listen to me, cha! You managed to bring back one of the men who kidnapped your teammate. Your teammate is an Anbu Captain so it is crucial that you find out where she is.'
'Couldn't she just escape if sh-'
'Outer! Stop interrupting me, cha! You're in charge of interrogating the man. He won't give you any information and is immune to genjutsu, your only option is to torture him.' Inner took a deep breath before continuing. 'Would you really risk your teammate's safety just because you don't want to hurt someone?'
Sakura's emerald orbs widened and her mouth opened and closed, forming silent words. The obvious choice was to torture the man but what if he had friends? A family? What if he had two children, a boy and a girl? What if he had a loving wife? What if they were living on the streets of whatever village they lived in and their only source of income was the man's job as a ninja?
The man must of done some horrible things but everyone deserves a second chance? Everyone makes mistakes, nobody is perfect. Her thoughts drifted back to her female teammate. They could get an Inuzuka to try and catch the females scent... the girl was an Anbu Captain, surely she left some kind of trail?
'But what if she didn't?' The pinkette bit her lip and furrowed her brows.
'I wouldn't let her get kidnapped in the first place so why are you asking me this?' The emerald orbed girl was starting to get annoyed.
'Not everything will go as planned, you have to expect the unexpected, cha.' Sakura grit her teeth. 'All shinobi have to do things for their village. Killing and harming enemies is part of being a shinobi. Cha!'
'Well, that may be so but I'm not a shinobi yet!' Sakura then proceeded to grab one of her kunai and cut the palm of her left hand with it. The cut stung a bit but Sakura ignored the pain.
'What the heck? Outer! Cha! That's something I would do but- but.. how could you do it?' Inner was screaming in their mindscape about her being reckless and what not.
Sakura decided to ignore her other half and instead focused on summoning her healing chakra. Once she had a steady stream of green chakra surrounding her right hand she placed her hand over the cut and tried to knit the skin back together.
Her brows pulled together as she bit her lip in concentration. She wasn't sure what she was meant to do but using her chakra as invisible stitches to sow the cut together seemed to work so she just continued doing that.
'See, you don't always have to resort to hurting others.'
'You're crazy, cha!' Sakura rolled her eyes as she cut off the flow of her chakra and looked at her left palm. The only evidence of the cut was the small trail of blood and the faint scar that was left on her hand.
'We won't be able to mend broken bones any time soon but we can take it slow.'
Inner huffed and retreated to the back of their mind whilst Outer Sakura cleaned her kunai. The pinkette sighed as she thought about what she could do that day. Spring was approaching and it would be her birthday soon, her heart hurt at that thought. Her first birthday without her parents..
She inhaled deeply. 'Life really is unfair..' She thought.
Shaking her head the pinkette decided to go out and get something to eat, it was around midday and she hadn't had lunch yet. The girl got changed out of her pajamas and put on a cyan, long sleeved jumper along with a white skirt. She brushed her shoulder length hair before making her way downstairs.
Sakura put on her black ninja sandals before exiting her house, purse in hand.
She made her way through the streets of Konoha, looking for a suitable place to eat. She had been out to eat with her parents before but she'd never gone out to eat anything but dango on her own.
'Hmm.. maybe I should let Inner take over, she does always seem to find food. Now that I think about it maybe she has an ability to sense food?' The pinkette shook her head before face palming. 'That's so stupid. I can't believe I even thought of that..'
The four- nearly five- year old continued to walk until the delightful aroma of food reached her. She followed the scent and arrived in front of a barbeque restaurant called Yakiniku Q. Without thinking the girl walked inside, her mouth watering at the delicious smell.
"Hello, would you like a table?" A woman with dark grey hair and clear blue eyes smiled.
"E-erm.. yes please." Sakura blamed her bad social skills for causing her to constantly stutter around unfamiliar people. It was a serious problem that made her look childish and she really didn't appreciate that fact.
"Come with me then please!" The woman grabbed a menu before taking her to a vacant table. Sakura sat down and the lady handed her the menu. "Call me once you decide what you'll be having, my name is Kata." The woman gave her one last smile before walking away.
Sakura bit her lip as she looked down at the menu reading through the different options. She would pick something that wasn't spicy since she didn't like spicy things so maybe she should go with number twelve? Number seven sounded good too though..
'Cha! Just order both!' Sakura winced, Inner had to learn to quieten down or else she may go death.. Wait, could you even go death if someone in your brain shouted too much? Sakura didn't know but she'd prefer to not find out.
'Hm, I suppose that's a good idea.. Now what should we have to drink?' Sakura looked through the drinks and decided on some matcha green tea.
She called over Kata and ordered her food, trying to ignore the chants of 'Food! Food! Food! Food!' going on in her head, courtesy of Inner.
'If you don't be quiet I'll-'
'You'll what? What will you do Outer, cha?' Sakura huffed in annoyance as Inner's shouts grew louder. The truth was the four year old really wasn't sure what she would do... maybe tell Inner that if she kept shouting they'd get brain damage?
She frowned, maybe that would actually happen? If she didn't go death from her other half's screams then maybe they'd get brain damage? She would have to look more into the matter later on, maybe a library visit was in order?
"Here you go!" Kata came over to her table with the meat and veggies along with her drink in hand. She placed the tray she was carrying it all on onto Sakura's table before walking away.
Sakura used her chopsticks to pick up the raw meat and place it on the sizzling grill in the middle of her table. She kept a careful eye on the cooking meat as she sipped her drink. The pinkette flipped the meat so that it would be evenly cooked on both sides. She added several more pieces of meat to the grill as well as some vegetables. Then the girl picked up the pieces of meat and vegetables that had finished cooking and placed them on her plate. She started eating and her eyes sparkled as the flavour of he meat popped in her mouth.
She continued eating but was full after eating half of her food.
'Hey Inner, do you want to take control and finish the food?' She wasn't sure how the whole two people in one body worked but Inner's tummy was a bottomless pit compared to her's; Sakura could only eat half a bowl of ramen before getting full.
'You already know my answer, cha!' Inner cheered.
'Alright but we'll have to switch back once you finish.'
'Yeah yeah, I got it Outer!' In a blink an eye Inner took over the body. Her eyes took in the sight of all the food and she drooled. She grabbed a piece of meat with her chopsticks and ate it, only just holding in a hum a contentment.
Once she had finished all the food she called over the lady who was serving them.
"Can I help you?" The waitress asked. Inner blinked as her mind was filled with information on the woman.
'Kata Mori, a civilian. She is twenty four years old and is an orphan. She lives with her brother who is a shinobi and is chunin level. She worries about her brother constantly and works as a waitress to help pay the rent.'
"Are you alright?" The woman asked worriedly. Inner came out of her daze and apologised to the woman for zoning out.
"I was wondering if I could order some more pork? Cha!"
"Sure thing, I'll bring it out to you in a minute." Inner thanked the woman before turning her attention to what she had learnt. Apparently the lady and her brother were in debt and so she was having to work more then usual to earn more money. Her brother was also going on more dangerous missions more regularly which caused the woman to be even more stressed.
'Maybe I can talk to Outer about giving her a tip..'
After a few minutes the woman came back, a plate of pork in her hand.
"Here you go!" The woman smiled as she set the food down in front of the pinkette.
"Thank you, cha!" Inner exclaimed.
"No problem, enjoy your food!" The lady walked away, leaving Inner Sakura to cook the meat in peace. Inner watched the pork sizzle away as she eagerly waited for it to be ready for her to eat.
When Inner had finished eating to her hearts content she allowed Outer Sakura to take control again. Emerald orbs blinked as Outer Sakura took the driver's seat. She looked around for Kata and when she spotted the woman Sakura called her over.
"Are you ready to pay?" The woman asked.
"Yup!"
"Alright, I believe the cost of your meal is six hundred and fifty seven ryo.."
"Alright.." Sakura fished the money out of her purse and was about to hand it to the woman when Inner piped up.
'Give her some extra as a tip Outer! She and her brother are struggling with money, cha.'
'Ok..' The pinkette took out some extra money and handed it all to the grey haired lady.
She saw the woman's brow furrow slightly as she counted the money.
"I'm sorry.. I-I believe you've given me more then what the meal costs.." Kata tried to hand Sakura the extra money but the pinkette refused it.
"It's a tip, for being so nice!" The child grinned. Tears blurred the twenty four year old's vision.
"Arigato.. arigato.. you don't know how much this- arigato!" The lady pulled the four year old into a hug before walking off.
Sakura blinked, she didn't expect that kind of reaction.. it made her... happy. A small smile lit up her face and the pinkette stood up before walking out of the restaurant.
As she was walking down the street to the library she heard an all too familiar voice call out to her.
"Sakura-chan!"
