"Y/N!!!! Get up or you're gonna be late for school!" you half hear your mum yell as you groggily look at your alarm clock, the only thing sitting on your bedside table in your barely unpacked room full of boxes.
~ 7:35 ~
"SHIT" you curse, throwing back the covers and tumbling out of bed. School starts at 8am!
You begin rifling through the boxes strewn around your room, trying to find any marked 'clothes' or 'winter' or 'school'. You finally manage to pull out a pair of straight leg, light blue denim jeans, a ribbed white long sleeve undershirt for extra warmth and throw on a blue/cream turtle neck sweatshirt with a half zip left open and the collar rolled downward.
In a box you find your school bag, throw a pencil case in, your laptop and a notebook. You throw in a bottle of (your favourite perfume), a pack of gum and wrap your headphones around your neck to listen to music on the walk to school. Lastly you part your hair and tie two low pigtails with the ends falling over the front of your shoulders, throw on some high top converse and race down the stairs to meet your mum in the kitchen.
"Here, i figured you'd be cutting it close on your first day" your mum says while smiling knowingly, handing you your lunch and a piece of toast to eat on your walk to school.
"Thanks mum, you know me too well" you reply warmly, earning a kiss to the top of your hair from your mum.
You fumble out the door, manoeuvring your headphones onto your head, taking a bite of (y/f spread) toast and playing the album you're currently listening to (y/f artist).
Before long you've reached the front of your new school, West Valley High.
The bell rings to signal the beginning of school and you make your way to the front office where the admin directs your attention to the person waiting to help you to your first class. Your eyes settle upon a girl slightly shorter than yourself with dark wavy hair, hands firmly holding a single strap of her backpack.
"Hi, i'm Sam, Sam LaRusso" she introduces, giving a small wave and a beaming smile.
"Hey, i'm Y/N".
"So what class do you have first?" Sam asks, peering over at the timetable resting in your hands that the admin had slipped you.
"Uummm", you begin, looking down and scanning the colour coded table. "Blue so uh, biology?" you respond in almost a questioning tone, angling the sheet so Sam could see.
"Oh cool, me too! We can be lab partners if you want, I know being the new kid can be a bit scary so at least you can have a friend you've already made as a lab buddy" she responds smiling, brows raised in an enquiring gesture.
"Yes please, that'd be nice" you respond taking the offer, looking down and glancing around the halls, taking everything in. The two of you fall into a comfortable silence, the only sound being your footsteps in the empty halls as the last of the students push their way into their classrooms in an effort to not be marked tardy.
"So did you just move to the area?" Sam asks, turning to half face me.
"Yeah me and my parents just moved here, my dad got offered a transfer to a new site here for better pay and his company covered relocation costs so my parents jumped at the opportunity... we were ready for a new start, but i'll miss my friends and my (y/f sport) team".
Sam offers a sympathetic smile and says with a nod, "yeah that would be hard to leave your friends and your team but it sounds like your parents made a tough decision that'll hopefully work out for the better". She paused and seemed to be thinking for moment, "hey if you're wanting a sport to join, you can always join our dojo!"
"Dojo?... as in Karate?" you ask.
"Yeah! Miyagi-do! My dad is our sensei, he trains us on how to defend ourselves against bullies... especially the ones we have around here.." she trailed off, glaring at an invisible enemy in the distance.
"Bullies?" you start to ask worriedly but before you can get any further you both arrive at the door to your biology class.
"Welcome Miss LaRusso, glad you finally arrived.. ah! and with our new student Y/N L/N! Please take a seat" your teacher Mrs Bennett exclaims, pointing the two of you towards the empty seats at a lab bench.
The two of you make your way down the aisle between the benches and settle into your seats. You pull out your laptop, notebook and pencil case, setting everything up to begin class and your teacher begins to distribute your textbooks for the year.
You gaze at the new faces around you, taking in the brightly coloured walls covered in educational posters, the full-sized skeleton on its hoist in the corner, and make eye contact with the sapphire eyes of the student sat at the bench next to you, a boy with sharp features surrounding soft eyes, a lean but muscular build and the most intriguing hairstyle you've ever set your eyes upon in person. A vibrant red Mohawk.
