Ruby laid face up on the ground, still in shock from what her closest friend had done to her. No, former closest friend Ruby thought to herself. Suddenly, Weiss' crazed face rose up in her mind again. "You're in the way". Tears started to well up in her eyes, and Ruby began to silently cry. All those good memories… were they just fake Ruby thought, Were you just playing along until your chance to get rid of me came? Ruby was startled to attention by a low growling. At the noise, Ruby quickly wiped away her tears, and shot to her feet and pulled out Crescent Rose. Grimm, Ruby thought, finally taking in her surroundings. It wasn't anywhere she recognized. She was on a large, circular plateau, which was mostly flat besides a couple of boulders lying around. The sky and clouds were a murky red, and there seemed to be no visible sun. What was most surprising, was the floating rocky platforms that surrounded the plateau she stood on. Must be gravity dust Ruby reasoned to herself, as she slowly looked around herself. Suddenly, she heard the growling again, coming from right behind her.
Ruby used her semblance to dash forward, barely dodging the claws of whatever was attacking her, before she turned around with her sights aimed at… Ruby froze. As she landed on her feet, she took in the sight of the creature in front of her. The creature that stood before her resembled a human. It had a hunchback, and Its 3 fingers ended in claws. Its skin(?) was black, with a red carapace(?) covering its chest, thighs, and part of its head. More importantly, it wasn't a Grimm.
Ruby's whole body had locked up once she got a good look at the creature. The creature in front of her was giving the same feeling of wrongness that she had gotten from the portal. It felt almost… demonic. No, it isn't just the creature Ruby thought to herself, looking around as if she was taking in her surroundings again for the first time, It's this whole place.
Suddenly, the creature charged a fireball up in its hand, and launched it at Ruby. Her fear caused her to react slowly, leading her to barely dodge the fireball. It exploded where she had just been, and the force sent her flying into a boulder. Ruby slumped against the rock, turning so she was leaning against her back, Crescent Rose falling out of her grip. The tears returned to Ruby's eyes, and this time she began to wail.
"YANG, BLAKE, SOMEONE, PLEASE, HELP," She shouted out in fear. The creature ran on all fours over to where she lay, and it brought it's face down to look at her. Seeing the look of fear on Ruby's tear streaked face, it pulled back, and it started making a weird, choking, growling sound. Seeing this, a feeling of confusion overtook her fear. As the creature continued to its weird cacophony of growling and choking, the confusion suddenly turned to realization. It's laughing at me, Ruby thought, and suddenly, her fear began to die down. "You're in the way," Weiss' voice rang out in her head again. This time, however, instead of feeling sorrow and shame, another emotion began to rise up in her chest. Ruby reached out and grabbed Crescent Rose, tightening her grip. Then, in a quick flash, she beheaded the creature. The creature's headless body remained in its position for a few seconds, before blood suddenly sprouted out of its neck hole, and it toppled over, dead. Ruby stood up, growling, before walking over and kicking the corpse of the dead creature. Stupid creature. Stupid Weiss. I'll show you… Suddenly, the plateau Ruby was standing on was covered in several bright flashes of light, and creatures similar to the ones Ruby just killed emerged. Ruby's eyes narrowed, as she looked at the creatures that surrounded her, dropping into a combat stance, Crescent Rose at the ready. I'm in the way, is that right Weiss? Ruby thought, as she tightened her grip on Crescent Rose's shaft. I'll show you just who is in the way. The mysterious emotion finally made itself known. It was Rage.
Ruby had been upset before. Even angry. When Yang used to steal her cookies, and laugh while she held them just out of Ruby's reach, or when something went wrong during the creation of her darling Crescent Rose. But this was different. Ruby wasn't sure if it was the atmosphere amplifying her anger, or if she had just been pushed to the breaking point after Weiss's betrayal, but she did know one thing. She was pissed. And she needed to vent.
The closest creature charged at her from her right, its claws slashing for her arm. Ruby dodged back, swing crescent rose in a deadly arc, bisecting the creature at the waist. Another one of them jumped at her from behind. Ruby fired a shot from crescent rose, which pushed her out the way, the bullet hitting the creature in the leg and staggering it. She quickly adjusted her aim to point the barrel of crescent rose at its head. She fired again, its head exploding into chunks of bone fragments and flesh. Ruby felt searing pain in her left shoulder as one of the creature's claws tore through her aura, scratching at her flesh. Ruby winced at the pain, using her semblance to dash away and catch her breath. She turned and scowled at the beast, angrily glaring it down. She rushed at it, spinning to dodge another one of its claw swipes before slicing it in half vertically. Despite Ruby's continuous slaughter of the demons, a hate filled expression emerged on her face. She was covered in blood, only some of it her own. Strangely, she didn't feel revolted by it. Instead she relished in it, letting her bloodlust grow. Finally, after several minutes of massacre, Ruby killed the last of the creatures. She angrily glared at the corpses around her, looking at the carnage she had caused, and impaled Crescent Rose into the ground at her side. She relished in her victory, over the beings that had mocked her, humiliated her. Then rage subsided as quickly as it had risen, and she was suddenly plain old Ruby Rose again.
Ruby keeled over at the scene, vomiting up her dinner from a few hours earlier. She remained like this for a minute, disgusted by what she had done. After she finished vomiting, Ruby looked at the remains of the creatures, and frowned. I did this, she thought to herself. Strangely, after she had finished vomiting, she didn't feel as disgusted by the sight anymore. She instead felt a strange apathy. These creatures had tried to kill her. They had wronged her. They deserved to die. Ruby stood back up, and prepared to refold Crescent Rose back down into its sheathed form, when all of a sudden, she felt a powerful blow slam into her back. She went flying into another rock, her aura shattering on impact. Ruby coughed up blood. She turned to look at what had sent her flying, and the same fear that she had had earlier returned. This creature wasn't like the ones she had just killed. It stood at about 8 feet tall, and was covered in black skin everywhere except for its head, which remained as an exposed skull. Its two beady white eyes were focused on Ruby. It slowly stomped its way over, as more flashes of light appeared around the plateau. From the lights emerged more of the creatures Ruby had killed earlier, along with two more of the 8 foot tall monstrosities. The one that sent her flying suddenly began to charge at her. Ruby's eyes widened as it jumped at her with it's hands raised above its head. Ruby quickly scrambled to get out of the way, diving off to the side as it's fists slammed into where she had just been. She winced as rocks peppered her prone form. Ruby roughly scrambled to get on her feet, and quickly sprinted over to crescent rose, only to get sent flying by a punch from one of the other monsters. Ruby screamed out in pain, having no aura to protect her from the blow. She felt her right arm and leg break from the impact as she bounced over to the edge of the plateau. The 3 monstrosities slowly stomped their way over, as Ruby quickly scrambled to get her bearings. She propped herself up on her non broken arm, as the monstrosities looked down at her, flanked by more of the creatures. The creatures all stopped, as they let out the same growling choking sound that the first creature had made. At that sound, despite the monstrosities stomping towards her, Ruby's fear quickly disappeared, replaced by the same anger she had felt earlier. Gritting her teeth, Ruby frantically looked around her for anything that she could use as a weapon. Finding only a small fragment of rock, she quickly threw it at the closest of the monsters. After feeling the impact, the monster stopped and looked down in confusion, before it reached down and grabbed Ruby by the neck. The creatures just began to laugh harder, some even falling over. Ruby's anger continued to grow, as she struggled to get free from the creature's iron grip. The laughing grew louder, as Ruby continued to struggle. The monster lifted Ruby up into the air, and prepared to slam her into the ground.
Ruby's anger grew as she continued to struggle. "No, no, NO, NO, NO," She began to shout. She wouldn't die. Not like this. Not when she had yet to stick it to that ice queen BITCH who was really worthless. Unknowingly to Ruby, her eyes had begun to glow with an ethereal silver light. The monster took no mind to this. Instead it met Ruby's glare head on, and it smiled. Sure it was a twisted, demented smile, but it was a smile nonetheless. Seeing this, Ruby's anger hit its peak. Ruby let out an ear piercing scream of rage, and suddenly, her eyes began to glow brighter. The whole area was engulfed by the silver light of her eyes. The laughing of the monsters and creatures rapidly turned into shrieks of pain, until they were no more. Ruby fell to the ground, the silver light in her eyes dying out. The corpses of demons began to smoke, before burning up where they lay. Ruby felt her vision blackening, as she struggled to stay awake. Suddenly, another flash of light appeared, and out from it emerged yet another one of the creatures that ruby had slain. It slowly made its way over to Ruby. Ruby stared up at the creature, unable to move her body due to the pain and the fatigue. The creature gently prodded her body with its claws, before quickly backing away. Noting the lack of reaction, the creature walked over to her unconscious form, seemingly trembling with excitement of finding something new to torture.
"Not… like… this…" Ruby whispered as tears welled up in her eyes. She was unable to move her body, and could feel her consciousness slipping. Ruby stared up at the creature standing over her body, her vision slowly blackening. The last thing she saw before she passed out was the demon's head being crushed by a large armored fist.
The Doom Guy had been enjoying another day of killing demons, when a bright flash of light off in the distance had drawn his attention and almost cost him an arm. Almost. The Doom Guy was better than that. After he ripped the head off the hell knight that had almost taken his arm, he made his way over to where the light had come from, his curiosity getting the better of him. What he found was a young girl covered in blood, about to be killed by an imp. After smashing its head in he turned his attention to the young girl's unconscious form, and frowned. That last thing he had been expecting to find was a young girl that was the same age his daughter had been before… That's enough dwelling on the past The Doom Guy thought to himself. Looking over the carnage that he assumed the girl had caused, he noted a large scythe that matched the color palette of the girl's clothes. Suddenly, a soft cough caught his attention.
"I… won't let them kill me," the girl mumbled out. She had seemingly woken up, and was clawing at the ground in an attempt to get up, glaring at the Doom Guy with such anger and hatred that caused even The Doom Guy himself to tense up, before collapsing into a heap. He stared at the unconscious teen before him. The anger and hatred she had shown reminded him of himself. He stood there for a couple minutes, pondering something. Suddenly The Doom Guy came to a decision, and walked over to her, picked her up princess style. Before turning around and getting ready to walk away. "Wait…" the girl groaned out, "Crescent Rose," she said, pointing to the massive Scythe laying on the ground. The Doom Guy sighed, walking over to the scythe and picking it up. The girl reached over and grabbed it out of his hand, before falling back into unconsciousness, the scythe clutched in her hand as if it were a lifeline. The Doom Guy shook his head, before walking off into the hellscape
