-CRASH!-
-Caw! Caw! Caw!-
Blackbirds burst from the treetops, calling out loudly in fear from the figure that crashed through the branches. The large group of people gathered near were surprised by the noise. Winged Lion Clan were just about to leave for the cliff top where they would leave an offering to the Beast Gods and beg for help for their people. For a way to save their dying females. Some were curious, but most continued on their path.
"Should we go see what that was?" One cub asked.
"Should we?" Echoed another. "Matriarch?"
The elder female looked to the woods. "No little ones, let one of the males investigate." She said, then looked up as a shadow passed over them. "Lord Qianhuang is already going. Let us continue to the cliff top."
As the Clan continued Qianhuang searched the forest where the crows had burst from. From above he notice the damaged tree branched and he carefully dropped through the tree canopy and landed on a sturdy branch, looking for the cause. Then he saw it, no- not an it, but a female. She was carefully leaning on the trunk of the damaged tree. Had she fallen out of the tree?
He glance about. She was alone, where was her family? He dropped down from the tree, landing close to her. "Female, are you hurt?" He asked as soon as he landed.
"WAH!" Chiaki gasped at the sudden appearance of the man, stumbling backward and loosing her hold on the tree trunk. She found herself caught before she could hit the ground.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten."
Chiaki found herself face to face with Qianhuang, his arms wrapped around her. "Yes." She said slowly. Her eyes darted to the pair of rounded animal ears on top of his head.
"You are hurt, I will take you to the Winged Lion Clan." Qianhuang scooped her up and spread his large white wings. With little effort they were in the sky.
'Animal ears? Wings?' Chiaki thought to herself. 'Did I get transmigrated to another world? The last thing I remember was seeing a truck run the red light as I crossed the street.' She studied the man holding her. So much white, white hair, white animal ears, white wings. Even his skin was pale and his eyes were blue.
Suddenly they were landing and Chiaki let out a gasp at the speed he moved. "Whoa!" Then she winced in pain as he stood her on the ground. "Ow! My knee!"
"Female, I will take you to our Shaman." He pulled her up again even though she had only been out of his arms for a second. "Shaman!"
The female appeared at the entrance of her home. "Yes Lord Qianhuang?"
"This female is hurt." Qianhuang said as he stepped passed the Shaman and placed Chiaki on the bed.
Behind Qianhuang's back the Shaman made an ugly angry face. 'How dare another female show up in the Winged Lion Clan!' She thought. Neither saw the look though and by the time the Shaman moved over to the bed her mask was back in place. "I shall look at her."
A few minutes later the Shaman nodded. "She pulled the knee. Use cold river water to ease the pain and don't let her walk for a few days."
"Female, I am Qianhuang of the Winged Lion Clan." He said as he lowered himself down so he was eye level with her.
"I'm Chiaki-"
Suddenly from outside there was a loud commotion and cheering. The Shaman looked out only to see that the entire Winged Lion Clan were returning from the cliff top, several males being carried like heroes. "What is going on?" She asked.
From behind her Qianhuang replied. "I do not know, but it looks like the Gods reacted favorably to our Clans offering." Again he stepped past her.
Chiaki was sitting up in the bed behind them. 'I wonder what all the cheering is about?' She thought. 'Dang, I can't get out of this bed now, my knee wont hold my weight.'
"Shaman! Shaman!" A cub ran up to the woman. "The Gods gave a female to our Clan! She appeared from the sky!" He yelled in excitement.
"So that's what it is." The Shaman said. This thought was echoed by Chiaki.
