Elena Yang 31 year old detective former affiliation with the Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Division, moved to Manhattan, New York, six months ago. She was looking for work when she was offered a position with the special victims unit. She received a call to report to the district and speak with Captain Don Cragen.

Elena arrived at the 16th Precinct. walked into the room, which had a lot of empty desks. Except for one, there was a woman at her desk filling out paperwork, whom Elena noticed.

"How can I help you?" Detective Jeffries . She introduced herself, rising from her desk and approaching her.

"Elena Yang, detective . I'm here to speak with Captain Donald Cragen," she said as she reached for her badge, which slipped out of her grasp and fell to the floor.

"Sorry, I'm not really this clumsy; I just got back on the job and was told to come here, so I'm a little nervous."

Jefferies' expression soured as she suspected Detective Yang was sent by the Morris commission.

"The captain's office is to your left," she pointed then turned back to her seat.

"Thank you," Yang said but the detective didn't respond.

"Okay..." As she made her way to the captain's office, Elena looked down at the ground. She knocked before entering. She heard a voice tell her to come in.

She entered by opening the door. "Hello there, Captain. I'm Detective Elena Yang," she smiled

"I know you were temporarily assigned here by the Morris Commission. Please don't take it personally, but don't expect to be here permanently. When notified, you can resume back to Homicide."

"But cap-," she tried to speak but he cut her off.

"The rest of the detectives are currently working on a case; for now you can take an empty desk. When Detective Munch returns, you'll be partnered with him. You may now go," he said, motioning to the door.

Her jaw hung low as she blinked, trying to think of something to say but only nodded and walked out of the office.

She walked back out and over to one of the empty desks near the coffee machine. She sat down and put her belongings down.

When she looked over her shoulder and saw detective Jefferies looking at her, she quickly looked down and continued writing on a piece of paper.

Elena sighed and leaned against her chair, waiting for someone else to arrive. Particularly for her ostensibly temporary partner Detective Munch.

For more than thirty minutes, she sat bored at her desk, where there was a lot of movement of busy bodies all around but also nothing at all. Not a single phone call.

Detective Jeffries was still filling out paperwork when she noticed her temporary replacement in front of her. She exhaled a sigh.

Elena spotted the coffee machine and decided to make some for herself as well as the rest of the crew when they returned.

She sat down and finished her coffee after it had finished brewing. But then she needed to use the restroom, but she had no idea where it was. and stood up, looking behind her to see Jeffries, and walked over to her desk.

"Hey, I'm sorry, but where's the bathroom?" she asked politely. Monique looked at her and motioned toward the direction of the bathroom

"Thanks.." Elena stated. as she followed where Jeffries finger was pointing.

Monique had still not said anything to her. So, she just walked away.

John then exited the elevator and entered the room via the corridor. He then went to the captain's office and asked if Jeffries could accompany him to the radial vicinity for the case they were working on.

Cragen reclined in his chair. "Jeffries is currently on desk duty until further , for the time being, you can go with..." he paused as his gaze landed on Elena passing by his office door.

"Yang came in here," her head looked in his direction as her name filled her eardrums. and entered the room.

Her face lit up when she recognized a familiar face. "Is that really you Detective Munchkin?"
