Sero and Denki where bord. But what could they do? Jiro and Mina are having a Girl's Night, and Bakugo and Kirishima are studying for the test for the upcoming chemistry test for a while.
The two tried to play solo, but that got old. They thought of pranks, but after replacing Azawa's coffee with de-caf, they don't want to be caught or, worse, punished.
Maybe they can bother their counselor, Cece; she usually has good ideas for killing time. It was a good idea, and it might have worked if she hadn't left for vacation the day before they tried to book an appointment with her.
So there they were, in the common room, Denki on the floor and Sero lounging on the Sofa on his phone. And maybe that's where they'd be all weekend if a curtain Trio and a select few words.
"I already told you two," Ida said, taking off his glasses to wipe them off. His face looked annoyed, which was odd as the bluenette didn't have as much of an expensive face. "I'm not religious; how could I be a Paladin?"
"Palidins in Dungeons and Dragons aren't only about religion," Deku said, pulling one of his many notebooks out of his backpack. "Though it's not blatantly said, it is heavily implied that their powers come from their dedication to their Oath."
"An oath they make to a god, which I don't believe in." His annoyance increased along with the speed of his arm chops.
The two board teens were now intrigued. Not by the class rep's unusual annoyance, though that is something to poke later. Instead, they were fascinated by the topic of conversation. The two looked at each other and saw the other's recognition.
"Hey, Denki," Sero started.
"Hm?"
"I think I know what we're going to do for a while," Sero concluded.
"Way ahead of you," he whispered before almost jumping out of the chair with joy as he approached the three classmates. "Hey guys, I heard something about a certain Table Game." he turned his head to Ida before faking surprise. "Woah, Ida, you good, you look... not the best right now."
Ida gave an obviously forced smile but still tried to comfort his classmate. "I'm fine; these two are just being insistent."
"We are not," Ochako argued but turned to the yellow-haired teen. "Deku talked about DnD, which eventually led to us trying to see what classes we are."
Sero decided to jump in at this point. "Can I give my two cents?" he offered, to which the trio nodded. He pointed to Deku, "Fighter," then to Ururaka, "Wizard," then to Ida, "and I have to agree with them, you're a paladin, if not to a god, to the idea of charity and helping people."
Ida's hopeful look turned sour fast, and they looked even more annoyed. But instead of fighting it anymore, he just let it go.
"By the way, do you three play DnD?" Sero asked, "And are you looking for players? I haven't played in over a year and would love to get into it again."
"Not really." "I only learned of it today." "I didn't have any friends before UA, so sadly, I never got the chance. But I always wanted to!"
Sero didn't like where this was going; he heard from his middle-school DM that this was how it started. The one who played the most started DMing and never stopped getting asked to do so. 'Please, Denki. SAVE ME!' he thought. "O-oh, how about you, Denki?"
"Not really. I sit in on a few of my dad's sessions with his friends, but I never go to play." Denki thought for a moment. Before snapping and practically radiating hope. "Say, can you run a one-shot for us, Sero? Please!?"
'Shit' He wanted to say no he did. But damn it all, if Denki cant pull off Puppydog-Eyes. That's how he got out of trouble with the girls when he helped Minetta. He sighed and walked toward the kitchen area to grab a snack. "Fine, sure, why not? Meet me tomorrow, and we can run a one-shot." he was about to leave before he saw Ida look worried. "If you need help making a character, you can come with me to my dorm, and we can work on it now if you want."
This act of kindness would be one of the many mistakes Sero made that would cost him years of his life.
