Author's Note
Liar, Liar AU! All thanks to a friend who said that John was just Fletcher! Enjoy! XD
"At least we didn't fall!" John Dory said. The vine snapped and him and his brothers fell. The brothers gathered themselves together and went back into their grandmother's pod. "That was a disaster, guys!" John cried. "Clay, you kept coming in too late! Floyd, you were singing too high. Spruce, you weren't keeping with my tempo!"
"What about you, John?" Clay asked. "What about just improvising without us knowing and just jumping straight into the 'Brother Pyramid.'"
"Well, I was TRYING to do the Perfect Family Harmony," John said. "But you guys weren't trying!"
"Excuse me!" Spruce said. "At least we were trying to stick to the script, Mr. Improv-Without-My-Brothers-Knowing!"
"Hey! I have to pick up the slack!" John complained. "All you guys do is complain about your spot on the band!"
"Well, it's hard to keep the perfect 'Heart Throb' appearance that you want!" Spruce yelled.
"And I don't want to be the Fun Boy!" Clay cried. "I'm in a sad book club. A SAD book club, John! Where we cry!"
"Well, maybe I don't want to be the leader anymore!" John yelled.
"I think everyone did fine," Branch said, in his squeaky child voice.
"Take it easy, Branch," Floyd said. "They won't hear you anyway."
"But-" Branch tried before Floyd stopped him.
Branch's brothers argued for a while longer. "You know what? I'm leaving!" John cried.
"J-John!" Branch called. "Wait!" He ran over to his eldest brother. "John! Don't go!"
"Don't worry," John said, bending down to his brother. "I'll come back. I promise."
John walked towards the window. "I quit!" John pulled his grappling hook out the window and shot out with it.
"I wish he would stop lying!" Branch whined. "That's all he does!"
All of Branch's brothers left, Floyd leaving him a leaf vest to wear when he missed him. Branch hadn't taken it off yet.
"Hey, Branch?" Grandma Rosiepuff called. "There's some shooting stars out tonight. Want to make a wish?"
Branch ran to the window with his grandma. He looked up at the stars, crossed his fingers, and closed his eyes. "I wish...I wish John would stop lying. I wish he wouldn't lie when he sees me again."
The star glew brighter for a moment as it flew past, then dimmed once it vanished from view. "What did you wish for?" Grandma Rosiepuff asked.
"I can't tell you!" Branch replied. "That would ruin the wish!" She giggled. "That's fair."
