Chapter 1
Camp Half-Blood
The waves crashed against the shore with a frantic rhythm, an echo of Percy's racing heart. Sadness clouded his eyes as he scanned Camp Half-Blood, searching in vain for the Apollo girl who had stolen his heart.
A year. Only a year had passed since he met her, a year that had become the best of his life. Luna was his radiant sun, his compass in the storm, his calm ocean. But now, she was gone, leaving an unfathomable void in his heart.
With determination shining in his eyes, Percy stood up. No matter how long it took him, he would find her. Because she was his Apollo girl, his calm ocean, and he would never let her go.
A shiver ran down his spine as he fumbled through the pockets of his jeans, desperately searching for something to give him hope. His fingers stumbled upon the worn leather wallet. When he opened it, a photo of Luna stared back at him from inside.
Her white hair shone in the moonlight, and her ruby-red eyes sparkled with an intensity that took his breath away. A lump formed in Percy's throat as he remembered her smile, a smile that used to warm his heart like the morning sun.
"Percy!"
Nico ran towards him, the sand wetting his sandals and his black swimming trunks. The joy on his face faded when he saw Percy's somber expression.
"Where's Luna?" Nico asked, with a hint of worry in his voice.
Percy swallowed hard, his gaze fixed on the photo. "She's gone...", he muttered, barely audible.
Nico frowned, confused. "What? She's gone? Why?"
"I've been looking for her for 3 days. I couldn't find her anywhere," Percy's words came out with a broken voice, full of pain.
"Dude, why would she leave you?" Nico asked, trying to understand the situation.
"The same reason Annabeth did. I wasn't good enough for her," Percy replied with bitterness in his voice.
An uncomfortable silence took over. The sea breeze stirred the waves, breaking the tension with a soft sound.
"You have some problems, Percy," Nico finally said, with a serious tone in his voice.
"Oh, and you think secretly making out with Thalia isn't as bad as mine?" Percy mocked, bitterness in his voice.
"Hey, it's not fair to compare things that way," Nico retorted, with a defensive tone.
Nico's words resonated in Percy's mind. Maybe he was right. Maybe it was time to face his own problems and stop comparing himself to others.
But one thing was for sure: he wouldn't give up on finding Luna. He would find her, no matter how long it took.
Percy's gaze hardened. "Isn't it? Haven't you seen me alone, wandering the beach like a lost soul? Haven't you seen the pain in my eyes?"
Nico was silent, not knowing what to say. The truth was, he had seen Percy's pain, and it pained him to see him like this.
"I'm sorry, Percy," he finally said, with a softer tone. "I didn't mean to minimize your pain. I just... I just want to help."
Percy sighed, his gaze lost on the horizon. "Thanks, Nico. I appreciate it. But right now, all I want is to find Luna. I can't live without her."
Olympus
A thunderous scream from Artemis echoed across Olympus: "What the hell happened?! Aphrodite!"
Aphrodite, with her characteristic carefree air, dodged the arrows that Artemis launched at her while responding, "I'm sorry!"
Artemis, furious, demanded an explanation: "Can someone tell me what I've been doing for a year?"
An awkward silence took over the place. The deities present, fearful of Artemis's wrath, avoided her gaze.
Finally, a goddess dares to speak: "I'm sorry, Artemis, but Zeus told us not to tell you."
Artemis, frustrated by the lack of answers, sighed and headed to her palace. A strange sensation invaded her. She felt a void, an absence. Her lips felt strangely cold, her heart longed for something she couldn't identify.
Apollo, her twin brother, approached her cautiously: "Hello little sister."
Artemis, still upset, replied: "I'm not in the mood, Apollo."
A playful tone permeated Apollo's voice as he approached his sister, "Oh, come on, Artemis. You're always in the mood for twin talk."
Artemis, frowning, replied, "Shut up... Tell me why I feel like someone is missing."
Apollo, with a mischievous smile, shrugged: "I don't know what you're saying." Inside him, a mix of emotions stirred: guilt, amusement, and a hint of fear. If only you remembered, he thought. Oh wait, that would mean my father would roast Aphrodite and me... Maybe Hecate too.
Artemis, impatient, insisted, "What happened during my year that I have forgotten?"
Apollo, trying to divert attention, responded evasively: "You stayed in camp."
Artemis, with suspicion in her eyes, questioned him: "Hmmmm... What about my hunters?"
Apollo, coughing nervously, made up an excuse: "They were at camp, but they were told they had some business to do. Besides, Zeus told them they deserved the rest."
Artemis, with a mischievous smile, stared at him, "You weren't trying to flirt, were you?"
Apollo, with a blush on his cheeks, denied vehemently: "NO!"
Artemis, with a tone of false fury, said to Apollo: "Brother, we will talk about that later. But now I want to rest."
Apollo, feeling slighted, dissolved into the sunlight.
In the throne room, the other Olympian gods, except Artemis, argued in low voices.
Poseidon, stroking his beard, asked, "So what do we do with them?"
He winked at Athena, who glared at him.
Athena, sternly, replied: "This is not the time for jokes, Poseidon."
Zeus, with his powerful voice, declared: "I say we keep them separate. I don't want them to regain their memories of last year. It would be total chaos."
Athena, with concern on her face, added, "I agree. She would be shocked if she knew what he did while he was not in control."
Apollo, bursting into the conversation, shouted, "But she feels like she's missing someone!"
Ares, with an arrogant tone, intervened: "It will end if they are separated long enough. Then the love they had will become strange to each other."
Athena, outraged by Ares's insensitivity, exclaimed: "I can't believe that came out of your mouth!"
Aphrodite, with a serene look, said while looking at her nails: "Love does not die, it is simply saved for another time. If what I think these two feel for each other is true, you are denying the inevitable."
Camp Half-Blood
Percy sank into the wet sand, staring into the infinite horizon. The sea breeze blew his black hair, soaked in sweat and salty tears. His body, once strong and agile, now felt heavy and empty.
His sweatpants, stained with fine, wet sand, stuck to his sweaty skin. The orange shirt, which had once been a symbol of her joy and optimism, was now wrinkled and stained with the tears she had secretly shed.
His gaze, previously lively and full of curiosity, was now lost in the horizon. The lake, which previously gave her peace and tranquility, now only reflected the emptiness that consumed her interior.
An aura of desolation and aridity surrounded him. His hunched posture, slumped shoulders, and haggard face were a true reflection of the state of his soul: a wasteland where hope had withered.
He closes his eyes, and a sigh escapes his lips. It's been five months since Annabeth left him for Michael, and the wound in her heart still hasn't healed.
A torrent of thoughts invades his mind:
"Get over it, she's with Michael." The phrase echoes in her head, a constant reminder of her loss.
"She's not coming back, and you know it." The harsh reality hits him hard, filling him with deep sadness.
"So much so that Aphrodite called it the worst tragedy of the last century according to her." The irony of the goddess of love only increases her pain.
His relationship with Annabeth, once so strong and vibrant, is now just a distant memory. Tartarus has left an indelible mark on both, and the love that united them has transformed into a painful friendship.
Percy: (Sighing) "Annabeth... Oh, Percy, stop torturing yourself!"
Percy clenches his fists helplessly. Despite having asked Morpheus, at the request of the gods, to help him get rid of nightmares, they still torment him from time to time. He wakes up drenched in cold sweat, with the horrors of Tartarus fresh in his memory.
Suddenly, a soft voice interrupts his thoughts.
Luna: "Do you mind if I sit here?"
Percy turns around and finds a radiantly beautiful girl. Her hair was as white as snow, with eyes that shone like rubies that hypnotized him and transmitted an inexplicable calm.
Percy: (Stuttering) "Uh... no, of course not. I'm Percy, Percy Jackson."
Luna sat next to him, with a shy smile. "Are you new here? You look a little lost."
Percy , with a wry smile, shrugged. "Not exactly," he replied. "Let's just say I've seen better days."
Luna looked at him with compassion in her eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I've also gone through difficult times."
Luna gave him a radiant smile, a smile that illuminated her face like the rising sun, capable of melting even the coldest ice. His eyes, which shone like rubies, reflected a warmth and compassion that captivated Percy instantly.
Luna: "Delighted, Percy. I'm Luna, daughter of Apollo."
Percy , intrigued, raises an eyebrow.
Percy: "Daughter of Apollo? Are you good at music or an infallible archer?"
Luna , with a mischievous smile, winks at him.
Luna: "Not only archery, my singing is also quite good. And whose son, are you?"
Percy, with a knowing tone, responds.
Percy: "Poseidon, I haven't seen my father in a long time though."
Luna's smile turns into a sympathetic look.
Luna: "I didn't want to come to camp either, but this year they forced me. Sometimes I feel like I don't fit in here."
Luna sat next to him, with a shy smile. Her heart fluttered with a mixture of curiosity and compassion. Percy's melancholic aura attracted her in an inexplicable way. Her eyes, which reflected a pain that she understood all too well, invited him to enter her world.
Percy feels connected to the sadness in Luna's gaze.
Percy: "I understand you perfectly. I feel lost and alone too."
A silence takes over them, a comfortable silence full of meaning.
However, Luna, with a reproachful tone, interrupts Percy: "So, you're ignoring me, Percy Jackson."
Percy, blushing at being caught, apologizes with an embarrassed smile, "No, I was just going to ask if you want to hang out here tomorrow. Because I have to meet up with my cousin."
Luna, with a radiant smile that illuminates her face, accepts the invitation: "Sure."
They say goodbye with a "See you" and a "Goodbye", without knowing that this chance meeting has marked the beginning of a story that will change their lives forever.
This story will be continued
Author's note
This fanfic was translated directly from my fanfic in Spanish that is on my profile "the last hero of humanity" until chapter 12.
This translation was made and revised by me and my cousin. I would like to clarify that although we both know English, my cousin's English is better than mine.
My English is b2 at best, and I have never had the opportunity to be in an English-speaking country, unlike my cousin.
We will both try to ensure that the English version does not deviate from its Spanish version. There may be some small errors and I apologize if you point them out.
It would be corrected as quickly as possible; I hope to read your comments and greetings from Colombia.
